This is a game he should make, Tarantino guesses movies off their description, if he misses it he has to give two facts about the movie to still get the point. I call it trivial trivia with Tarantino.

Quentin Tarantino may not know by the description of the movie, but he’ll tell you who’s in it when he knows the title. (Must have been really boring at the video store during off-peak times for him to amuse himself with movie knowledge).
I'm to a certain level the same way but not to the same extent but my knowledge of movies is from searching IMDb instead of hanging out in a movie store.

If anyone is interested Quentin appears on the pure cinema podcast occasionally and talks at length about movies I’ve never heard of,it is quite astonishing his depth of knowledge. 3 hours sometimes!
Thanks so much!
Where??
Bruh, did you really boost your own comment to get a free ad? Unicorn Frappuccino for this guy.. coming up.
@@adeadfishintide no.
Giving credit where it's due, Jimmy is always on point with making these games for his guests.
thank the writers not jimmy, he’s a figurehead
100% not jimmy idea
He knows more about these movies than the people who wrote those descriptions did
As does a newborn. :-)
QT knows more about those movies than the people listed in the ending credits of those movies!
Listening to Quentin Tarantino talk about movies is one of the coolest past times you could have. He is a gentleman and a scholar. He could be a lecturer in cinema history and it would be one of the coolest courses ever.
He's totally amazing! One of the greatest film directors of all time!
I think they picked the wrong game for him. Shoulda been “who was in this movie…”
Trivial trivia with Tarantino.
Jimmy: Would you like these tapes for your personal collection? Quentin: No thank you Jimmy, I have all these already in my extensive climate controlled video vault.
Original film prints 🎞 . Dude has his own home theatre and does movie nights with friends where he mixes the trailers to run before the movies. He’s O.G
@@jammin2575 what I would give to go to one of those.
Underrated comment ❤️❤️❤️😂😂😂
Okay, Gregg.
You can just tell that Quentin would love nothing more than playing this game all day long.
Yeah the way he keeps putting the blindfold on like next jimmy
QT knows movies, like Jay Leno knows automobiles…..basically walking encyclopedia’s.
Mentioning Jay Leno on a
Jimmy Kimmel clip. Bold move!
Lose the apostrophe. It’s encyclopedias.
Especially the Psychotronic encyclopedia.
My god, it’s not without reason why this guy is a f*** legend!
I think you mean a f****** legend not a f*** legend
@@chefcoolguy I think you mean a f* * * * * * legend, not a f* * * * legend
it gets shortened 🤣
@@chefcoolguy you also got it wrong😂😂😂 here, hold this L
@@nothingtoospiffy7913 uhh... Nah, I meant what I said. He's a funky legend obviously
@@chefcoolguy 😂😂😂 you right you right
I was always thought QT was very intimidating but this video made me really like him, he seems like a very cool guy and I feel like it would be a good time to just sit with him and talk about movies
Dude is a living legend, his movies changed and set trends in Hollywood.
He follows the trends of old movies. He doesn't set them. Idiotic.
He literally copied music and scenes from classic films; imitation is the most sincere form of flattery
@Maiahi He's a copycat and nothing more. Who the hell is Trantellino anyway?
The hours and hours he must have spent watching old vhs tapes. Also the level of trivia knowledge and the excitement whenever he talks about ANY movie. Legend
Plot twist: Quentin got all the answers right, he just went for the original, unprinted titles, instead.
I really hope Quentin keeps making movies... he was always about quality over quantity and all of his films are great.
He's gonna move to tv I believe so we won't be losing him.
Tarantino, the legend.
Quentin has been training his whole life for this. I think he really enjoyed it too
yeah did you see his face at the end when he got the last one right? He was beaming
Mr. Tarantino seems to know more than the people who produced these VHSs😄.
This is a game he should make, Tarantino guesses movies off their description, if he misses it he has to give two facts about the movie to still get the point. I call it trivial trivia with Tarantino.
In the European market the show will be called “Tarantino Royale”
@@audunrundberg9180 Nice one!
Apparently, Tarantino will soon be starting a podcast in which he, someone he works with frequently and a different actor or actress each episode will discuss a chosen movie, so it's kinda gonna be a thing
I think they should call it Titillating Tarantino
I call it "Quent's Essentials".
I wish people played this game with Quentin every time he was on a talk show.
He's like those students who do last minute studies and nails the test
not sure how exactly thats comparable in any way. he didnt study last minute and didnt nail the test.
@@markekar6021 I said he's like the ones who nail it
@@normanbates1794 you didn’t say “looks like” at all. You said “he’s like”
@@markekar6021 I think he simply means that he's smart. Nothing more than that
a little like those students that don't "study" & nail the exam anyways
QT is a true movie fan - gotta love him!
American movie you mean
“He hits me in the hair!” Great impression of Tony from Saturday Night Fever!
Dang, he knows his films. I wish this went longer. I've never even heard of these films
0:03 give the guy a gap to speak Kimmel...jeez
To be honest it probably was not In the script for him to talk lol
Quentin's jumpy reaction (3:34)there when he realized he's correct.. remind me of Sheldon's jumpy reaction 😅
A lot of people would think this is scripted but he has a picture perfect memory of movies.
He only gets 2 right because he’s thinking of the many possibilities
And the terrible descriptions
If he did it with less obscure movies or even just listed the director, actors or described the cover... he’d probably get every one correct.
@@valoriethechemist you can read him the VHS description of Aladdin and he wouldn't recognize it. And then would start talking about all his personal knowledge about the actors, director, music composers and Disney itself
@@marinadeburgos8666 The back cover of Aladdin literally starts with the word Aladdin... I’m sure he’d never guess that one... specially as it goes on to describe the movie as a magic carpet ride...
You’re just being a contradictory jerk. Tarantino’s brilliant when it comes to movies. The fact he got 2 of 4 of these (and was close on another) is astounding. And he didn’t list off random studio facts... he listed actors and directors of the actual movie and whether it was released on vhs...
@@marinadeburgos8666 ok... I don’t get what you’re saying
Would love to chat with Tarantino, he's an encyclopedia of movies. He's probably got some crazy stories too.
Listen to him on Joe Rogan’s podcast. It was an amazing 3+ hours!
@@StacksOnBricks I second that! He’s a wealth of movie knowledge and a cool dude.
I often think of Hideo Kojima as a Japanese Tarantino even though he's never directed a movie. I'd love to see the two of them have a long conversation on movies.
The Hot Fuzz commentary Track with QT and Edgar Wright is a must listen.
I love that he takes pride in his movie knowledge enough to want to continue the game and try to get another one right!
QT's relationship with these cult classic films is the equivalent of how many people (admittedly myself included sometimes) can be terrible with names of previous acquaintances or old classmates but can tell you a lot things they remember about them, like their old nickname they used to go by, where they worked, who their brother is, or some obscure detail like they have six toes. Then hear their name and go "oh yeah that was you for sure." 🤣
Or, he really, really loves movies.
He was *studying*
That store was his film school. He wasn't killing time to amuse himself when business was slow, he was making good use of every free minute, becoming the guy who would one day make some of our favorite movies.
who misses the movie rental stores like block buster , brings back good memories
@@bicmitchum1368
Oddly, my 26yo son agrees with you. He was just bemoaning the loss of Hollywood Video last weekend. I would have thought he was too young to care.
Qentin Tarantino is a pure gold. Damn I love his movies, but as a person, I am really gllad of who he is. Talented, wholesome, smart, genius !
These all sound like they could be Tarantino movies.
Legend! Hope he doesn’t stop at 10 movies
Damn Straight!
Me too. Although I'd love to see him tackle a TV series too. It would be so good to see what he could with characters with hours more screen time.
He does :/
Maybe he’ll turn back and flip the silver screen on its head and start counting down from 10
Doesn't he have way more movies than 10
Omg. His ending smile is as scary as the ending of his movies..
It would’ve been more entertaining to hand him an obscure movie title and let him reveal an unknown/fun fact about it.
That's pretty much what happened anyway
Tarantino is the only person on Earth who could've come up with "The Clown Murders"
well, maybe john candy coul... oh.
@@Mekhami he’s not on earth. He’s in sweet comedic heaven
@@DaManDaMythDaLegnd He knew that!
He seems like one of those creative people that would watch a mountain of crap/mediocre movies just to pick out the 2 second bits they did right and integrate it into his work.
Why, its a somewhat well known John Candy movie.
This is impressive. Well done Quentin
When you don't know the actual answer, but can tell the person every little detail about the answer...
To be fair, if he had actually known and studied VHS movie summaries I'd be worried for his sanity. Because that is straight garbage information no one needs in their brain.
It'd be interesting to see QT against Scorsese.
I wanna see that happen
Scorcese seems more nerdy about movies from the 20s,30s and 40's, and Tarantino more on dusty movies from the 60's and 70's, but both are huge movie nerds in general who are masters of their craft
Picture this. A game show called, “So You Think You’re a Cinephile” where contestant face off and see who knows movies more. Maybe a director can host the show. Or maybe certain episodes where have directors face off against each other.
@@gabrielidusogie9189 That's brilliant idea
I could watch this all day. As an IMDB nerd I love how he knew everything once he found out the movie.
Anyone who's worked at a movie rental store has some level of this skillset.
Yes we do....
One of the businesses I miss the most, standing at Redbox doesn't even come close to the experience of a movie rental store
Yess!!
When I was taking an intro to film class in college I had to grab a copy of Psycho unexpectedly for a last minute syllabus change. I called the local Blockbuster to ask if they had it in stock and it seemed like they were taking awhile to look it up. I clarified I needed the original, not the remake with Vince Vaughn - "you know, the one by Alfred Hitchcock?"
The clerk replied, "Who is Alfred Hitchcock?"
@@MMallon425 Then for no reason at all they went bankrupt.
His knowledge on films is seriously impressive
Long ago, I used to rent videos from Quentin at Video Archives...he knew literally EVERY movie in the store. I have a vivid memory of him saying "that's the 1956 thriller featuring..."
If I were going against Quentin Tarantino in a movie trivia contest I would have the same chances at scoring a single point against him as I would playing basketball with Michael Jordan, boxing Mike Tyson, playing tennis with Serena Williams or swimming with Michael Phelps.
And winning
If I had to choose between all those I’d pick playing one on one vs Michael . I could maybe get lucky by throwing up a shot. No way am I gonna get a punch in on Tyson, be able to return one serve Serena sends my way and swimming vs Phelps is done right as the race begins.
You could score more than one point against Serena Williams. Any 15 yo boy who has trained tennis can beat her.
@@jackbombay1423 wrong
@@williamcowell1889 Great argument. But you can look it up. Serena would be like the 700th ranked had she played against males.
This a perfect example of someone being a Master at their Trade. I have never heard of these movies EVER..LOL!
Can you be right even when you’re wrong?
Tarantino: hold my kahuna burger
I like burgers
He literally was the guy that knew everything at the blockbuster. His first and only job before film was working at a video store.
I think he worked at an adult theatre at some point but I could be wrong

_You are entitled to think what you want about it, but..._
*This is one of the reasons I like Quentin Tarantino more than myself!*
_For his cinematic, cinematographic, film, movie knowledge._
_For his enormous, countless and vast vocabulary that an ape like me sometimes barely_ _understands._
_For his characteristic of being on the right side of the history - metaphorically and literally - both in_
_films and reality._
But I also like more than myself the following geniuses:
*Leonardo Da Vinci*
*Alan Turing*
*Nikola Tesla*
*William Shakespeare*
_Polyhistorical or not, with any importance I liked, like and will like them (almost) more than myself._
I love how he doesn’t guess the movies but gives a fun fact about them after knowing what they are.
The look/chuckle Jimmy gives Quentin at 2:35 is all of us wondering how much of a legend this man is
The correct way to do this is give the names of a couple of the film makers and cast.
Oh dear, some of these descriptions are so misleading, I don't blame Tarantino at all, especially since you can see his mind go through the dozens of possibilities immediately popping into his head! 🙈
