I've always thought the 2DS was meme worthy, at one point I bought one to test some things out on but I have to admit... I used it as my 3DS unit for a bit. The thing is surprisingly comfortable! If you ever need more power and want to treat yourself to an upgrade, Nintendo's refurb store always sells New 2DS XL systems for $100!
I bought a couple of refurb New 3DS XL's for like 130 or something from GameStop online, surprisingly in great shape. Love all the homebrew stuff on it. I ended up throwing a 128GB card on mine and eventually when I get time I am going to sort out my game collection on it.
I actually did hack my kid's 2ds because they kept losing the carts. I think tge shadiest thing i did was install multiple copies of the same cart on 2 different systems. :/ So i guess they technically have a pirate version of sapphire. Lol it's so bizarre. It seems like it would have been so much cheaper to just make two screens than that one big one. Especially if they're just going to waste the extra screen space.
Speaking as someone who's been in both since the start, no they're the same. Trust me, there was so much bullshit drama in the 3ds scene. Don't forget the who shit that went down with the first 3ds themes website.
"friendly community" You should have been around during the a9lh days, it was the exact opposite of friendly :joy: Thankfully the community is much better now.
I bought a cheap 2DS and modded it about a year ago for my kid and it has been excellent value. I used the the Luma firmware and have all of the games on the SD card.

I got my 2DS at 2015 but thanks to one of those "Stability updates" I had to wait one whole year to get an exploit to it. But man, what a time to be alive! It's my favorite Nintendo console since then, and still rocks nowadays. The modding community is awesome, I believe even more bigger than the Wii one, and keeps the console alive no matter that "daddy N" had changed priorities to the Switch. 8:19 Nintendo officially only have SNES games on New 3DS/New 2DS hardware if you use Homebrew to install any official SNES game on Old 2DS hardware they run awful, but look how smooth the SNES emulator runs on 2DS homebrew. So once again modders community does what Nintendon't
The GBA injector works flawlessly as there is actual GBA hardware inside the 3DS so everything will work fine. There only was a problem with pokemon games as persisting the save requires a restart to the home menu where their savetype wasn't supported until hackers implemented it.
@@captain_jerkass No, its not virtualized. The 3DS CPU has basically a fully functioning NDS CPU inside it, and since the NDS supports GBA games natively the 3DS also does
Uh, you think so? The NDS had two CPUs: the NDS mode CPU, and the GBA mode one. I don't think 3DS has three CPUs just for GBA compatibility (given they only launched some titles just for Ambassadors). We could say it's well coded software: but it would be ridiculous for the 3DS to have 3 CPUs, just for some uses.
@@Gabi-enby It's at least related to the fact that the 3DS family can play DS games. I've experienced the Ambassador GBA titles before, and unlike other VC titles on the system, there are no extra features & the system does a mini reboot upon leaving the game. This means that the system is at least booting into DS mode to run the GBA games & it's likely that Big N could never find a workaround that met their standards, which is probably why they never publicly released GBA games on the system.
The NDS had two CPUs, an ARM7 (GBA compatible) and an ARM9. However the DS actually used both of these to run DS games. The ARM9 was the main application CPU, and the ARM7 was used for audio processing and input/output. ARM7 was obviously used for GBA mode too, but at half speed. Now, the 3DS is a little weird. It has three cores on board, an ARM11 (3DS games), an ARM9 (3DS kernel or NDS games), and an ARM7 (NDS games or GBA). Because the 3DS normally runs its kernel on ARM9, it cannot run NDS games with any sort of 3DS kernel running, so it boots into a dedicated NDS mode where only ARM9 and ARM7 are enabled. This is why it's almost impossible to "break out" of NDS mode into 3DS mode via exploit. GBA mode on 3DS is running on ARM7 with ARM9 and ARM11 disabled. However, it uses a weird "ambassador" firmware, which was needed to load the game from memory and handle savegames. This mode disables so much of the 3DS hardware that sleep mode and all other 3Ds features don't work at all, because it's literally acting as a GBA. Nintendo never released this on the eShop because it probably never met their quality standards. You had to reboot the system to get back to the firmware, sleep didn't work. They never implemented all the save game types (pokemon). But it is a real GBA CPU.
Very underrated handheld that's really been overshadowed by the Switch as of recent. It's also funny seeing you build a .cia launcher for Metroid Prime, as I seem to recall playing that for quite a few years now as the ambassador program included that game...I'm really glad the homebrew community really cracked open that feature for everyone.
2DS/3DS are some of my preferred methods of running classic emulation. Even on PC's with all the filters and options I think the screen stretch can be rough sometimes. The low-res handheld screens are great for emulating retro games and hardware is typically more than powerful enough especially if you have a "new" 3ds/2ds
In the video, MVG mentions that "Nintendo never really removed functionality from console revisions at all." Yeah, the Wii Mini is a good example of them doing just that. Also, the original Wii model had GameCube compatibility, later versions didn't. On the topic of GameCube, Nintendo removed the rarely used digital AV out. The NES toploader removed the AV out, was composite only.
Huh? Nintendo removed functionality and features from hardware all the time before the Wii Mini. Heck, the standard Wii had already lost GameCube support. DSi lost the GBA slot. GB micro lost GB(C) support. GBA SP lost the headphone jack. DOL-101 GameCube lost digital out and other I/O. GBA lost the IR port. NUS-101 N64s lost the 64DD port. SNS-101 SNES lost S-Video, RGB, built-in RF, expansion port, and the eject lever. Most SNS-001 SNES systems lost the cartridge locking mechanism from earlier SNS-001 consoles. NES-101 NES lost the composite AV output. HVC-101 Family Computers lost the microphone and built-in RF. Nintendo has a long history of cutting things back and reducing functionality to save cost.
@@wi1dcard192 "Standard Wii" meaning "not the Wii mini." The full-sized "standard" Wii was revised multiple times before the Wii mini. The revision that loses GC support looks nearly identical to the earlier ones except the Wii logo is turned 90° and the console is presented horizontally on the box instead of vertically. Pretty sure that means it lost the vertical stand as well. The panels that cover the GC ports are still separate pieces but they no longer flip down and the ports are gone from the inside.
Makes me nostalgic for the days when I ran homebrew on my ds lite. I didn't have an ipod, the iphone was only this hip new fad and yet this one device was my planner, my ipod, my gaming console and even had a cool artwork app called Colours which was AWESOME for the time. I didn't even need a smart phone back then. Oh and Nitro tracker is still one of the most usable trackers I've ever used. Had some Really cool synth apps too. Nintendo could have invented the iPhone if they tried.
YESSS!! This is precisely the video I've been looking forward to! Well, almost, this is about the 2DS instead of the 3DS, but well, close enough! Good job mate!
I am actually considering buying a new 2ds these days. I own a Switch and I love it, but I feel like I missed out on a lot of good games with the DS family.
Not to mention, the switch just doesn't compare to the 3DS in terms of portable comfort... Unless you've got a light, but if you do then yikes, it may drift
yea it's so much fun onyl being able to play nes and snes games, like bruh the 3ds emulations is garbage. only reason to mod your 3ds is to pirate actual 3ds games. period. until the 3ds can play n64 games at full speed, the emulation is garbage. there's like 8 games between the nes and snes that are still worth playing today.
This is great! I will definitely try this out. The thing I find most interesting about the 2ds is it only has one screen. I don’t know exactly how they got that to work, but I certainly find it an interesting cost-cutting measure.
Since a hacked 3ds can load mods for games, I thought I'd give a few recommendations (aside from the obvious ones like English translations of Japanese-only games, of course): -Same-Sex Marriage patches for both Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates - adds in the option for gay/lesbian couples and also has new (text-only) dialogue for these character pairings. Though one should note that getting the child characters requires some fiddling around with tools. -CTGP-7 for Mario Kart 7 - a community-made modpack for MK7 that adds new features and most notably whole new tracks. You can race in online mode with this mod as well, provided you're in a -Mario Kart 'community' where everyone has this mod loaded. -Certain games like Dragon Quest 8 have mods to add in alternative soundtracks, unused/cut content, undo censorship, etc. -And my personal favorite - Project Restoration, which is a mod for Majora's Mask 3D that not only tweaks the game with QoL features (such as transformation masks being on the d-pad, the I and II touch buttons now being physically press-able via button combinations, etc.) but also restores aspects of the game to be more like the original N64 version (Zora-swimming no longer takes magic and is now fast by default, the Inverted Song of Time has the same slow-down rate it had in the original game, and one of my favorite aspects - it removes the random eyeballs that were added onto every boss enemy for no reason. With this mod the 3DS version now has pretty much no downsides!
Also check out Pokemon nightmare moon and reaper sun, mods of ultra sun and moon that *seriously* ramp up the difficulty. A nuzlocke is so near impossible that if you complete it with video proof you'll be credited in the mod.
Wow, that is pretty neat! I didn't really know too much about the homebrew scene on 2DS. Sounds like there's quite a long history, but I guess hacking will always happen as long as there are people to do it, which there always are, so it's kind of a vicious cycle. Though I guess it's not just piracy; it's also adding useful features these consoles should have in the first place. P.S. - love your voice, MVG!
Xbox one X running full windows, gamecube, ps2, wiiu and dreamcast emulators with HD quality, full xbox 360 and original xbox retrocompatibility, hd's full with games and all of that in 4k quality!
2DS XL is $99 brand new at Walmart if you can find one. Pulled the trigger last night thanks to this video and others detailing the modding process. Cheers!
No, they are still emulated. The 3DS and 2DS do not contain the legacy ARM processor like the Nintendo DS did. Some games do have issues, such as Super Mario Advanced 4.
Jason Lee The GBA's main processor hardware is baked into the DS CPU core, and since the the DS CPU is still on board the 2DS, games run perfectly fine. As far as the 2DS is concerned, it's a DS game running at a lower resolution, as both don't offer a sleep mode. I guess Mario Advance 4 has minor issues considering the DS and 3DS cores are on the same chip. (Just a guess though)
@@Supersayainpikmin That is still incorrect. Again, the Nintendo DS has 2 separate processors, the ARM7 which is what is used for the backwards compatible GBA games, and the ARM9, which is what the DS games used. And although they were probably on a single chip, that does not mean it is the same for the 3DS/2DS as the chip on those only contain the ARM9 architecture. The ARM7 processor is entirely absent on the 3DS/2DS. Although further research before this comment, I too was a bit wrong on my end. GBA isn't entirely emulated because the ARM11 is similar to the ARM7 architecture which does allow some instructions to run natively. However, again the ARM11 is still different ant therefor some parts does need to be wrapped or emulated. Because of this, not every GBA game is compatible and it is also why Nintendo only released a few GBA games in the E-Shop.
As someone else in the comments has pointed out, the 3DS does have the ARM7 processor. While the DS had it's own dedicated ARM9 processor, many developers used the GBA CPU for sound processing as the DS, like the GBA, lacked any kind of sound hardware. Since almost every DS game uses the ARM7, it was vital to be included for DS backwards compatibility. When a DS game is launched, the ARM11 is completely unused; this is why when exiting a game does a full restart of the system and why it's impossible to go from DS mode to 3DS mode. When in GBA mode, the ARM9 is unused, however the ARM11 is still technically used, but only for save games. Because of this awkward save method, not all save types are supported, including the ones used in all the Pokemon games.
@@Supersayainpikmin ..you're using another comment as a source. And that info is still wrong. The DS does indeed have a dedicated sound chip, one that can play 16 channels. The DS utilizes the ARM7 mainly to drive the secondary display, usually for 2D graphics. This is the same on the 3DS with the ARM9. www.lifewire.com/game-boy-nintendo-3ds-1126293
I'm so glad you made this video and was really excited when I saw you posting about the $40 2DS deal. My daughter has a 2DS and I think Santa is bringing her a Switch Lite for xmas so I've been wondering if I'd be able to open this thing up, specifically to see if I could play some of my SNES backups, since the original 2/3DS don't have SNES VC, but the NEW line do.
When theyre older they gonna leech you for alcohol and diapers and once theyre done with you theyll send u to a convalescent home where you can play with those 2ds yourself.. Just being real
i was literally just looking for videos on 3DS homebrew on your channel last night, holy shit! 3DS homebrew is amazing. not only does it have tons of potential, but the installation process using fredtool is insanely easy. i remember doing Tubehax in like 2014 (or something) and it was way more difficult- it was something that took like 5 hours to do for a first timer. but the first time i used fredtool it took like 2.5 hours, even though i was totally new to the whole process. i regularly install homebrew on my friends’ 3DSes for free these days because i want to spread the joy of this awesome little console. an underrated function of 3DS homebrew is custom themes. Nintendo’s selection of home menu themes tend to be pretty boring, but people have made some really interesting and awesome themes using Anemone.
Gateway: Heres a Piracy Hacking Cartride. We break into the code to make playing pirated games on the 3DS possible! Modding Comunity: Great! Let me modify that real quick to use it in another Hack. Gateway: Wait, that's illegal!
What a coincidence. Was just having a blast revisiting my modded 2DS. It's a great little handheld with a cool form factor, seriously a Game Boy 2.0 - folks should snag a refurbished one off Nintendo's official online store; they're basically brand-new.
Yep I did that a while back when they where $60 USD, and it was a fantastic value, the only thing you don't get is a retail box, just a plainish white box. a refurbished 2DS XL is now down to $99.99 which if you play your system a lot like I do, it's well worth paying the extra, just get a $5 2DS XL grip shell off eBay/Aliexpress to make it way more comfortable.
One type of emulator that’s become really popular for the 2/3DS are early computers (C64, Spectrum, Amiga, etc) as you have the second screen for a virtual keyboard. Definitely worth checking out.
my school literally gave out 2ds's for students that did well during the school year. good thing i hacked mine while everyone is stuck playing mk7 24/7 lol EDIT: Dang y'all, thanks for commenting on this old post 😂 anyways, I broke my 2ds, so I got a o3ds xl if you want to know what happened to it- 😂😂
Thanks to this guy now i have a PSvita and a pair of 2DS handheld, they've all been cfw'ed and i always share them with my cousins everytime we go to trips. Once again a huge thanks to you and the teams that make these homebrew wonders possible :D
Great video. I got my Old 3DS in september 2013, and for years i kept a look on the hacking scene. When everything was stable, i installed Luma3DS on mine in mid 2018 using Seedminer (DSiWare save exploit). It took me 2 week to read all the official guide, get all the files (i had to ask someone on Discord to get my movable.sed file for me), and 3 hours to install everything. It was the first time i jailbroke something all by myself. I felt really proud of myself and was all started my love for this channel, homebrew and hacking.
A couple other 2DS downgrades that wasn't mentioned was that it uses only one speaker and the feel of the plastic feels much cheaper and the buttons feel squishier. I actually liked the wedge design, especially with my larger hands. It was just a shame that it felt so cheap and only had mono audio unless using headphones.
I was around during the Ninjhax days, wrote some bad homebrew myself and was happy with it as a freshman in highschool. still love my 20th anniversary Pokemon N3DS
The absolute best thing about this video for me was the Nintendo Switch ad that played in the middle. For a company that doesn’t like you, they sure don’t mind reaching your audience.
Really glad to see this video. The little system deserved this. Also the unit is more sturdy than the flipcover DS devices. With a hack, the older DSTT and other cards work also. The only thing that is missing from this video is how to run/install the DSi homebrew and DSi games.
TBH I'd just buy new 3ds xl for these purposes. Yeah, it might be a bit more expensive, but much capable as a machine, has more features and has a nicer look overall. You mentioned yourself a few times that 2ds just didn't have the juice to run some homebrews. Just save some money and buy new 3ds instead, it's worth it.
Had NO IDEA that software existed. Thank you! I love the homebrew community of the 3DS. It is crazy the amount of content that little guy can push. Great content MVG! Keep it up! Unrelated if you ever get into PlayStation 2 Homebrew be sure to also check out OPL. It has wonderful theme support.
There's also using flashcarts with ntrboot to set up boot9strap, which is also a fairly well used method, and is a bit faster than BannerBomb3 in my experience. It has the same result of installing Luma3DS, too, so either method can be used. Also, never EVER use a video guide, unless that video guide is specifically for the exact version your 3DS is on, and is only walking you through the de facto official guide: 3ds.hacks.guide . The various forums and subreddits constantly get "My 3DS was bricked" posts that say they followed a video guide or tried to skip a step in the process.
I agree with you. I just did this with a 2DS. Never but never skip a step. Do all the steps and you will be fine. This is challenging for a normal technology user.
I like how nintendo said the reason you couldn't play snes games without an N3DS is because of hardware limitations but yet the homebrew community did it just fine on original models
i followed the guide n got overwhelmed bc im kinda new to the scene and MVG called it "quite simple" n as a joke i was discouraged,, BUT i ended up having a lot of fun while doing this which took me abt an hour or 2. I got outrun as a nod to u. keep up the gr8 work man. goodbye for now
@iewind Sony at least doesn't give a shit about their devices, but this is Nintendo we're talking about here whereas no matter how old they're device is, they'll strike dat ass with no ease!
Own two 3ds's and bought one for my gf a year ago. Homebrew is amazing and such a game-changer. Having all my favorite 3DS, DS, GB, GBC, GBA, and SNES games available at the press of a button is fantastic and I am still playing it nearly every day. Plus, the 3ds is just so much more portable and smaller than the Switch tbh
There were barely any mentions of CFW in the first place, just him showing the Luma config menu. Plus you don't even need B9S or A9LH to install Homebrew, just steelhax would be fine.
Being someone that missed the entire DS/3DS scene, I've been seriously considering buying a refurb New 3DS XL for the last few months. There are so many great titles on the 3DS.. some that are so great that I played them via emulation just so I wouldn't miss out on them. Citra has come a long way and was a great way to play Metroid Samus Returns. However there are many other titles which you really can't replicate the handheld experience with via emulation. Nintendo sells official manufacturer refurbished New 3DS XL units on Ebay for $120 with a 1 year warranty, and I've been seriously contemplating going down that route...
Oi make sure you use NSUI for GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SNES and Genesis games. 3DS has a feature called Virtual Console which enables these games to run natively rather than via emulation. Also disappointed he didn't mention TWiLightMenu++ (for DS ROMs).
I was always using my 2DS in school before lockdown especially during those boring english lessons, and I loved extracting my ds games and using Twilight Menu to play them all
Two things you should know that weren't covered unfortunately. The NSUI tool he mentioned should also be used for GB, GBC, NES, SNES and GameGear games. 3DS has this 'Virtual Console' feature which allows these games to run natively rather than via emulation. Also check out TWiLightMenu++. Useful if you wanna play DS ROMs off the microSD as opposed to an external cartridge.
Technically you're not all screwed, nds bootstrap isn't perfect so you can't run all nds games at full speed off the sd yet. Flash carts don't have this issue, so you can enjoy your perfect compatibility there.
Got an O2DS and a N2DSXL both running Luma 10.x and use them for a lot of stuff, the O2DS is mostly for playing multiplayer with friends but I've even transferred saves from Minecraft 3DS to Bedrock Windows 10. cfw has some crazy amazing features, can bring back miiverse, add splash screens, reduce blue light kinda like f.lux, add proper custom themes to the home menu with custom music even, play out of region games... My favorite homebrew is definitely CTGP-7, but that's just cause I play a lot of Mario Kart already and have been a fan of CTGP-R on Wii for years.
I got my new 3DS 3 years ago and never really bothered with it. Until I installed cfw on it. It is now one of my favorite handhelds of all time by far. Great library of official games, great homebrew, great battery life, all in all one tiny little great machine.
This is actually a very timely video. With the Switch and especially the Switch Lite, I imagine many people are going to start selling off their 3DS's so you might get an even better price with time.
Of the Nintendo systems I’ve installed homebrew on, I’d say the 3DS is probably my favorite. I’ve actually installed it on 3 systems in the 3DS family, and helped someone with a fourth. Something good to check out is the TwiLight menu. It was made for DSi homebrew but there’s a 3DS version as well, and it’s a really good way to take advantage of DS mode. I use it for a lot of rom hacks on old DS games. Another problem I’ve run into is my main computer doesn’t have an SD card slot. I decided to use a secondary computer to install the CFW, then install FTPD after that, so I can connect to my 3DS and transfer files from my main computer wirelessly. The transfer is slow sometimes but it works pretty well!
The 3ds also runs NDS Games natively too. Twilight just uses bootstrap to tell the 3ds to locate and boot up NDS Games. Nes VC injections run natively as well. 3ds is better suited for running retro games than a PSP or Vita. The retro gaming emulators on a PSP are ok but not as good as a GBA and NES VC using the 3ds hardware to run it natively. Plus the Sega Genesis and Snes emulators are better and run🤷 games flawlessly. I had both a hacked Psvita and Psp 3000 and I can tell the difference in the emulators big time. But I honestly miss my Psvita it was a beast too. A whole entire library of PSP, PS1 and Psvita games at your disposal. I had English patched Psvita games 👌. Fucking Adrenaline, some reason gave me problems. Psp is the easiest thing to hack , hacked my psp with my android smart phone and a otg cable lol 😁 Another thing I love on the 3ds XL is the R2 and L2 shoulder buttons which a PSP and PSVITA does not have which makes mapping fighting games so much more easier. Metal Gear solid snake eater on 3dsxl, even though the Psvita graphics are superior. You can freaking sneak crouch walk, control the camera angles better and use touch on screen icons to initiate Snakes commands for a easier and better experience. I like how the 3dsxl integrated the on screen touch buttons a lot better than Sony 🤷
Whelp. I just did this to a 3DS an hour ago and I'm having a lot of fun. I shelved the thing because I couldn't really afford to buy any new games for the device, this certainly solves that issue.
I bought my first "3DS" system (a 2DS XL) earlier this year. I have hacked it to load homebrew and streaming software, but that didn't stop me from actually supporting Nintendo and continuing to make purchases through them. I hope they realize they've made a lot of money off me even though I "could have" pirated it all. Even though I'm extremely late into the 3DS lineup, I LOVE it.
I forgot about my 2DS for years and when I took it out of the closet after all that time I was surprised when I powered it on and it still had full battery

Those "stability updates" have been Nintendo patching out exploits for most of the 3ds life cycle lol
Now it doesn't matter too.many hardware exploits.
I have a 2ds so bruh
I hope you had a good 3years bro. Just know everyone is about to be home brewing now because of the close of eShop
The GBA injector works flawlessly as there is actual GBA hardware inside the 3DS so everything will work fine.
There only was a problem with pokemon games as persisting the save requires a restart to the home menu where their savetype wasn't supported until hackers implemented it.
iirc it's virtualized hardware, not actual hardware, and you can thank asdolo for making NSUI and the others for testing it and reporting issues
So, the Wii Mini got exploited just recently.
After all these years I was extremely surprised!
Dang
people dont use the wii mini just use the wii/wii u i prefer wii u tho
@@deleteduserfromdiscorddele8384 that and the wii tiny. Amazing what they did with that
In the video, MVG mentions that "Nintendo never really removed functionality from console revisions at all." Yeah, the Wii Mini is a good example of them doing just that.
Wait what? The original wii had game cube compatibility, controller ports, full backwards compatibility, and memory card slots.

Well, almost, this is about the 2DS instead of the 3DS, but well, close enough!
Good job mate!
Could you do a video specifically on the best Homebrew for the 3DS?
He did. Nintendo had it taken down.

I paid full price for my 2ds. $80, and it was 100% worth it. Got it homebrewed, enjoying some custom games (although with a few crashes, haha.)

A new New 2DS or just a new 2DS?
Love this video. Personally own a modded 3ds with homebrew
@Shank Adams there's a difference between just modding the console for emulator features and stuff, and using it to install pirated games.
@Shank Adams homebrew =/= piracy
Not to mention 3ds is EOL anyway, Nintendo and related devs make money on the switch now
i own 2ds with homebrew and i love it
Me too, except I lost my micro SD. :'(
yea it's so much fun onyl being able to play nes and snes games, like bruh the 3ds emulations is garbage. only reason to mod your 3ds is to pirate actual 3ds games. period. until the 3ds can play n64 games at full speed, the emulation is garbage. there's like 8 games between the nes and snes that are still worth playing today.
This is great! I will definitely try this out. The thing I find most interesting about the 2ds is it only has one screen. I don’t know exactly how they got that to work, but I certainly find it an interesting cost-cutting measure.
I got into homebrew through my 2ds. And its a beast. Glad to see people appreciate the 2ds
Since a hacked 3ds can load mods for games, I thought I'd give a few recommendations (aside from the obvious ones like English translations of Japanese-only games, of course):
-Same-Sex Marriage patches for both Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates - adds in the option for gay/lesbian couples and also has new (text-only) dialogue for these character pairings.
Project Restoration sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing that!
Hmm very interesting I'll definitely be checking this stuff out. Thanks
Also check out Pokemon nightmare moon and reaper sun, mods of ultra sun and moon that *seriously* ramp up the difficulty. A nuzlocke is so near impossible that if you complete it with video proof you'll be credited in the mod.
@@wi1dcard192 I knew I was forgetting something! Thanks for commenting about that hack, can't believe I forgot to mention Pokemon mods lol
The Zora swim mechanics in MM3D just baffled me, but Project Restoration makes it all better. Worth it for that alone.

Wow, that is pretty neat! I didn't really know too much about the homebrew scene on 2DS. Sounds like there's quite a long history, but I guess hacking will always happen as long as there are people to do it, which there always are, so it's kind of a vicious cycle. I hacked my 2DS XL immediately when I got it.
I really like how comfortable the 2DS is
Clamshells were never comfortable for my big hands, doubly so since I broke a wrist as a kid.
GBA injected ROMs using this method play in hardware, it's not an emulation. That's why you encountered zero issues!

If only it was still $40
I thought you weren’t doing Nintendo anymore? I’m glad to see the 3DS because the scene is incredible
The cool thing about the GBA stuff is that the 3ds can run GBA games natively because it still has all the hardware the GBA has.
And the Vita has a PSP built into it, so you can use Adrenaline to natively run PSP and PSX games as well as original PSP homebrew.

And BTW, you can run some NDS classics without any flashcard, search for Twilight Loader++
Imo flashcard is better. All DS games and homebrew apps in one place and 3DS games installed on sdcard
@@rafaszczyk if that's the problem you can always make two folders inside your sd ...
I nought mine for 35 euros. It has become my console of choice for playing Final Fantasy and Golden Sun.
I forgot about my 2DS for years and when I took it out of the closet after all that time I was surprised when I powered it on and it still had full battery
