It's so true. That woman gives me chills every time I hear her sing. There's just something about her voice that sounds almost haunting but yet angelic at the same time. She's one of a kind...PERIOD!
The band that opened the gate for basically all female fronted bands. And the inspiration of thousand of women and men. The legendary Evanescence, the legendary Amy Lee. 🔥
She is legendary, but she did not open the gates for all female fronted bands. Ann and Nancy Wilson were tearing up stadiums when Amy was still in diapers. Tina Turner and Janis Joplin were before she was born. Patsy Cline was my mother’s favorite in the 50’s. Yes, Amy Lee is incredible but cut it out with the hyperbole please?

Well, no. Evanescence’s first demo album was in 2000, Nightwish started in 1996.
@@heart_of_garnet Well, no. Evanescence was formed in 1995 and they started recorded their first EP called Evanescence EP in 1997 and a year after they recorded their second EP called Sound Asleep, Origin was their Demo Album released in 2000!
@@fabianestrada4357 I wasn’t talking about EPs. Even if I were, Nightwish would have had them well before 1996 when they were originally an acoustic campfire band. The point is, Nightwish were first, album or not.

I’m Brazilian and love Amy Lee. ♥️
last november got the chance of my life and saw my 2 goddess role models Amy Lee and Sharon del adle (Within temptation) and this was the first song evanescence sang when they got on stage, couldnt stop myself from belting the lyrics out hearing it in concert had so much more power behind it, so long as i live i will never forget that day, so glad that 20 years later this song is still high upon my list, would recommend "what you want" much later in their career and its slightly different but still holds that Evanescence feel from back then. Keep up the honesty its good to see ^_^

What’s awesome is that this song is about her fighting stage fright and just powering through it.
Amy has eventually said in interviews that the lyrics to Going Under are about a physically and emotionally abusive relationship she was in for a few years...which turned out to be with Ben Moody, the ex original guitarist.
@@detectivekornfed Crazy thing is, she's basically rubbing Ben's face in it for the whole world to see, yet a*hole was still clueless.
I guess that's why Rocky, Will and LeCompt had to tell Ben they're gonna unalive him if he doesn't leave the band (before he "left" )

You guys can't possibly believe that Amy Lee is a better singer than Tarja Turunen or Sharon Den Adel or Simone Simons or Floor Jansen or Melissa Bonny or literally any other female metal singer. Amy doesn't even sing, she sobs her way through all her songs. Just listen to her. I used to be into Evanescence in the early 2000s too, but I moved on. You should too.

I will listen to Amy Lee and Evanescense over any of the women and bands you listed. It's not even close.
None of those singers can't write in several instruments as Amy Lee does, when you listen to Amy Lee, is bc Amy Lee wrote the lyrics, wrote the melodies, harmonies, chord progression, made the loops and beats with synths and protools, used several keyboards, piano, harp, guitar and produced the song, and that is a current thing in their music since the beggining, she is a full on musician, composer, music and lyric writter and a producer as well...
On top of it all, a terrific live performer, she is such an entertainer and fun to watch live, stage presence, creates empathy with crowd, makes you feel every word she says, bc a word she sings is a lyric and music she created herself... None of the other >singers can compete to a full
Also all those other female lead singers rely on a band to do hard songs, on their own they all do christmas and pop songs, unlike Amy Lee whom as a solo artist is a score composer for films, have done several soundtracks, and even got in count for Oscar nominee in 2017 with Speak To Me, as well as won Sundance film fest awards and Hollywood Music Academy Awards, something that rarely any musician can get, in that world you are above rock and hard rock or metal, Amy has been taken on count to perform for Nobel Prize and even the Vatican, and even if she has not the most perfect technique live, she has improved year after year since her debut album to the point of nowadays giving flawless performances night after night., something none of the other >singers that you mentioned have done.
Why even feel the need to make this comment ? Most of us love Amy. You don't ? Fkn great for you!
