When she lived in Little Rock Arkansas in the early 2000s, there was a little club on the north side of town called Juanita's, and Amy would show up on like a random Wednesday and she'd sing karaoke her songs. It was amazing to hear her in such an intimate setting.
Such a great song along with haunted and tourniquet. Linkin Park and Evanescence was how I was introduced into the rock scene then came skillet and from then on out just been going deeper in the rock and metal scene.

I couldn't have said it better. I've been Evanescence's fan since Bring Me to Life and Amy voice never failed to make me either cry or gasp in awe. She is amazing at expressing emotions through her voice. For me, many singers are fantastic but lack the expressions of emotions where I could go ''oh yes I can totally feel that in their voice''. But Amy? Nope. After almost 18 years I still can't get enough of her voice.
as someone with vocal training... your ability to put emotion in your work, the right emotion and in the right placements, is like an upper level of technique. you have to get everything down before you should really concentrate on it, at least according to the teachers I've had. it's less about things like posture and understanding how vocal cords work and breath training (think like what divers do) and more about having ALL of that sh*t down to the point where you don't have to think about it and can immerse yourself into what you're singing. and Amy is an absolute queen of it. if you're interested in the vocal end of music, I highly recommend Beth Roar's reactions. she specifically likes reviewing live performances because you can hear more of what they're doing rather than the studio editing out little "flaws" (which you could call a humanizing element if you like live music) and part of it is catching their emotional output in one straight take.

I've been a fan since Fallen came out and I agree that The Open Door has been their best album so far. Everything else is beautiful and amazing but this was easily their best album.

Ryan and George are always in awe of metal transitions which are typically executed by change in instrumental tone and tempo. With Amy Lee she has just as amazing transitions but she does it vocally and it is flawless.
I was in Vegas for work recently, just sitting in my hotel around 8pm on a Wednesday watching your videos. I love watching people discover music that defies preferences and familiarity with indisputably excellent talent. The bandwagon for that content is so crowded now, but fortunately Lost in Vegas was my first exposure to it years ago. You guys are different for me; you set the bar because you offer more than a vicarious validation of the love I have for this band, that song or the power of an instrument. You articulate the feeling, creating a dialogue of discovery and appreciation for the transcendent that I’ve experienced a thousand times but never been able to discuss with someone else. That’s not just quality content to maximize the value of a trend. It’s a meaningful contribution to the community of freethinkers, music lovers and even to the musicians themselves. So as Im sitting in this hotel I thought, I’m gonna reach out to these guys and see if I could drop off dinner or something and just say, “I appreciate you, please keep this channel going because you stand out and the effort was wisely invested.” But then I realized that would give serious stalker vibes, so I let it go 😂 But I just remembered watching this video that night and since it came back around, I just felt like I should tell you in the comments and make sure you get those 💐

YES, this whole album owns 🙌🏻 Ev was one of the first rock bands I was into too-and Amy Lee was a massive influence on me as a teenage girl. At the time, I didn’t know you could be feminine without having to be stereotypically cute or bubbly or sexualized. Then I saw her, and my mind was blown. Like, “This is an option?? I saw them waaay back in 2007 on the Family Values tour. Amy Lee was outstanding. I can understand the thought that her voice doesn't "rock" well. She doesnt have the grit we commonly expect from male rock vocalists, but they tend to keep more to the somber, melodic side of rock, so I think it works.
I got to meet Amy Lee at a meet and greet before one of their concerts. Going in I obviously had a big crush on her and thought of her as some rock goddess. Amy was dressed down and was very nice and so sort of unassuming, even a little on the shy side maybe. After it was over I remember thinking, oh, she’s just a normal person. I built her up in my head and she’s just like anyone else. Then the concert happened and she was on that stage all made up and dressed up for the concert and just belting out the songs sounding amazing and commanding the stage in such a captivating way that I was right back under her spell. It was incredible to see her so normal in the afternoon and such a kickass rock goddess later that night. It didn’t even feel like the same person. Amazing

Selling 17 million copies during the time when you had to actually leave your house and hunt for the album and couldn't just download it at home in bed will never have the words to properly convey just how big of a feat that is... truly unbelievable

Regrettably I just subscribed today, I have been an infrequent passer by when it came to your channel; I saw a video or two near the time you guys were first starting your channel and then would drop in whenever I recognized a title over the years. The reworked version of Lithium they released on Synthesis is also awesome. Also, I'm pretty sure the lyrics are about her relationship with bipolar mood disorder and the drug Lithium (used to treat it).
In interviews, Amy has stated she doesn't have bipolar disorder. I gather the song's title and lyrics are more about painful emotions, as many of her songs are.
They're about looking at happiness from a negative perspective. Almost a kind of "Do I stay miserable but creative, or do I risk losing my talent to be happy."
I get chills from her voice. The other female singer that does the same to me is Courtney LaPlante from the band *SPIRITBOX*. Check out her one-take vocal video of the track 'Circle With Me'. Mesmerising.
You could easily review this entire album from beginning to end. However, Lacrymosa, The Only One, and Your Star have a really great feel to them that I think you’d like. A lot of people are recommending the radio hits but I think you’d be better off going in that direction (my 2 cents)

Regrettably I just subscribed today, I have been an infrequent passer by when it came to your channel; I saw a video or two near the time you guys were first starting your channel and then would drop in whenever I recognized a title over the years. Your reactions were always very enjoyable and respectful even when there was a song that didn't carry a hope of expectation. Watching this video today, I have to say that you guys have really come a long way and while it pains me that I didn't become a sub earlier, just know that it is very pleasing you guys are still going strong bringing quality content!

Just because you mentioned, Amy was actually hired to create a song for the Chronicles of Narnia which was rejected because it was "too dark" . It ended up being called "Together Again", you can find it on Spotify

The reworked version of Lithium they released on Synthesis is also awesome. Also, I'm pretty sure the lyrics are about her relationship with bipolar mood disorder and the drug Lithium (used to treat it).
In interviews, Amy has stated she doesn't have bipolar disorder. I gather the song's title and lyrics are more about painful emotions, as many of her songs are.
They're about looking at happiness from a negative perspective. Almost a kind of "Do I stay miserable but creative, or do I risk losing my talent to be happy."
I interpret it as someone dealing with bipolar and it hits close to home for me. As a family member battles this and o feel like she nails it!

You could easily review this entire album from beginning to end. However, Lacrymosa, The Only One, and Your Star have a really great feel to them that I think you’d like. A lot of people are recommending the radio hits but I think you’d be better off going in that direction (my 2 cents)

"Whisper" is also a great song. That opening riff is just insane!
When this came out, I was very much in that toxic type of relationship. It embodied the misery I was going though at the time. This song helped me cope and eventually get out.
