“This song was actually written about my now-husband. I’d been in a really bad, abusive relationship, which had been very difficult for a long time. I thought that I was doing a pretty good job of pretending I was OK, but Josh [Hartzler, Amy’s husband], this guy that I didn’t know really well but I liked a lot, we went into a restaurant while my bandmembers were parking the car. When we sat down, he looked at me right in the eyes, and said, ‘Are you happy?’ It just caught me really off guard. I felt very exposed, but it felt good at the same time - like he could see me. ‘How can you see into my eyes like open doors?’”

I've just gotten out of a mentally abusive relationship. I didn't realize how low I was. I blamed everything but him. Tried so hard to do everything right but something inside me was fighting. Some really good friends helped me see the light. Now 8 months on I can't believe what I put down to my anxiety was from abuse.
@@hannahevans9125 Hope you are on the right path to heal! It's a very difficult thing to come back from! I went through something similar yrs ago....it wasn't until after I removed myself from that situation. Did I realize how beaten down I was ...no self-esteem...zero confidence... I was terrified to even try going out with anyone for Years! It's important to have some support from ...family, friends, therapist..whatever works best for you!!! Remember...ITS NOT YOUR FAULT!!! Dont let anyone tell you any different!!!

This was their first hit in Slovakia and it was all over the TV, back then when we watched music videos just on the TV and VHS.

You should listen Evanescence - "Lacrymosa". Both from the album The Open Door and from Synthesis and the Synthesis live version. I recommend! Mozzart and Evanescence in one :)

It's so cool to see someone appreciate evanescence songs, as much as I do. I just love their mixture of soft and harsh melodies /sounds. Really love the instrumental and on top of that, their lyrics are so meaningful 😍😍. My mother has their album "fallen" in her car and I kind of grew up with their songs (by the way I am 20)

I remember discovering the song back in the day in 2003. My 18 year old self doing homework, sitting in front of the TV with MTV on. I´m from germany and back then there was a video from a german artist, which had a similar beginning and which i hated and always muted the TV. But i was so focused on my homework, that i forgot to mute the TV at that time...then the song started and Amy started to sing. Immediately my head snapped up and was totally focused on that song...with open mouth and all. I called my best friend and told her, that we have to go to CD Shop NOW because i heard a song from the most perfect band ever.
I´m stuck since, have an Evanescence themed tattoo and listen to all of their music all the time.

Finally had to find a way to talk to the damn DJ who played it, and had him duplicate the album for me. Bought it like a year later. Been in LOVE with the band in general, and Amy Lee in particular ever since that night. Beyond awesome. Welcome to the fanbase. Late is better than never.
