I feel this process is so all over the place based on who you watch or listen to. Definitely appreciate the "quicker" process. I appreciate you showing the process when you have different lighting throughout your project. That's one thing no one talks about. I like the idea of one adjustment layer and color correction for the whole project, but that's just not feasible for my work flow. I always have light and dark scenes that need different corrections. Anyway, thanks again.

The "Custom LUT" is under "Color" in your effects browser, for those who were looking for it. Also I've been loading the main log conversion in the clip itself under "info". I'm not sure if this is better or worse than using an adjustment layer, or if this is just part of the time saving. Great video though!

My only suggestion will be to use the VIDEO-SCOPE [command + 7] to better understand the color spectrum of the video. Other than that, I love the simplicity of your color-grading process. ✌🏼

For someone that is new to this I think it is also important to stress the value of filming in 10bit (which I am sure you do) to achieve this kind of results. Not at all a criticism to you but rather a heads up to beginners reading this…Great video Teppo!

Thank you so much for this. It’s so helpful. I hadn’t been using adjustment layers. I would grade one clip and then copy paste those edits to my other clips when that was edited to my liking. Then I edit the pasted adjustments if needed as you did in the final step. Although I think I’ll need to try using an adjustment layer now. Thanks for the tips Teppo! 🙂

Very helpful. It gets very time consuming when I‘ve got many clips split and mixed around and color temp is all over the place and needing to fix it for each clip. In thst instance its almost better to color correct exposure before I start splitting and mixing things around. 🧐

So I joined motion array just to try it out, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. Absolutely no hate towards Matti, i've been watching his content for years. Motion array provides you with many options for s-log luts but they come in packs of 30, 60, 250..... which maybe 1 or 2 luts out of each pack look decent. I'm not back to this video contemplating on purchasing Matti's lut package lol

Thank you for this video, it's very comprehensive even for a beginner like me who has never shot in log before. Now I'm wondering, as I'm getting my A7 IV soon and my ZV-1 also has S-log (by the way, you inspired me to get this camera), now I know that Matti's correction LUTs will work but if I get a drone someday (I'm looking at the Mini 3 Pro now), I assume I will need a different correction LUT for the drone footage? Could you show in another video, how you match footage from these different cameras together or briefly explain that? 🙂

Thanks for this. Before the convert LUT I only do the white balance. but the shadows-highlights correction I do after the conversion and color-lut - just at the end. Interestingly I was checking that today and saw it is better just at the end. But now you are doing it before the convert LUT - what do you think about it ?

Hey Teppo! Thanks for the Tutorial!!! I have a technical question to your process (the 3 steps). If I film in Slog-3 and as a first step apply a LUT to get Rec709 and only later do color correction and color grading; I'm not sure about the order of the steps. Wouldn't it be better to first correct and grade the footage and as a last step add the LUT and convert to Rec709 (to preserve the dynamic range)? I ask because I thought if you add the LUT first you lose the information that the LOG-File contains? Maybe I miss here something. Does the order of steps even matter?

How come you don't shoot with S-Gamut3 with S-Log 3? I'd imagine more dynamic range from the S-Gamut 3 would be better especially considering it's the same process to get it back to a 709 colour space.

But when I introduce the Atomos Ninja, which still doesn't have the S-Cinetone option for recording, of course it all goes wrong. I just wondered if you have ever tested your method using an Atomos and whether some how you got it to work? Unlikely as I don't think I have ever seen you use one, but thought I would ask. I will continue to badger Atomos to add this profile to the Atomos Ninja in the meantime. thanks

Hey Teppo, this lut pack works with only Sony Videos? Can I use it on my DJI Pocket D-Cine Like videos?

Hey Ahmet. My cine lut pack works great with d-cine like videos. You just dont need Matti's sony conversion luts then.
