I have probably watch scores of videos and tutorials on color grading. This is the first one I've watched where I understood everything and feel like I can color grade all my footage from previous videos. Literally felt my brain unlock. Thanks! Great video!
At 3:49 I stopped for a thumbs up and finding out this has just been posted and only been seen for 40 times.. This is a great tutorial! .. pressing play again.
Your video is underrated. I watch many videos about grading on final cut and your video stopped my searching. You understand the issues and give the right answers for my all problems. Thank you
Thank you! I didn't realize that Final Cut color grading had such a broad professional scope of color grading. I was only using a fraction of what it can do.
Very professional and succinct presentation. As good as it gets. I especially loved how you superimposed the video over the waveform scope to show how it worked! Superb.
OMG thank you so much for this information. I am transitioning from Adobe Premier Pro to FCPX and im not really knowledgeable when it comes to color grading which i can safely say almost zero. this video gives me an understanding on what is color grading, the process and how to do it in FCPX. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I will recommend your video to my friends in the same boat as mine.
Can you further explain the Luts inputs and outputs? Specially when working with RAW footage and how it interacts with the color conform tool in HDR libraries/proyects
this video is amazing man thank you so much for putting it together, I’ve seen several other videos on color grading but the way you break things down just makes it super digestible/ easy to learn.
color grading is our favorite editing process, it's always great to know others' processes so we can get some insights and apply them to ours too, congratulations on the video!😉
WOW, what a great video. Thanks for sharing this. I appreciate the short and clear explanation of color grading basics in FCP. I'm sure this video will get tons of views, you deserve it. This video should be a shortcut in every FCP user's desktop. Nice job.
Mega thanks for clear and step-by=step process. I am new to this and was frustrated using LUTs and not getting it. After this video, in 5 minutes, I was able to get the accurate color (filmed in Clog3). Thank you very much!!
Honestly started learning davinci resolve a week ago and when it comes to colouring fcpx doesnt come close am so glad I started to learn it...fcpx is like imovie compared to davinci seriously
this video is very helpful and excellent service and great experience video review and nice explanation with all proses step by step and thinks for sharing this video think you so much for you..

Hello thank you so much. Do you have some idea what to do when we are shooting yoga for example 20 or 60 minutes and the sun is getting stronger and exposure too SO the film si matching whole time. thank you:)
It took me a very long time to understand the order to set the wheels and HSL in the way that resolve does it. I appreciate you giving that piece of information because it was really frustrating
Many thanks for this video! I’ve seen many helpful videos related to coloring but this one’s the most complete and clear guide I have ever watched so far. Cheers man!
After looking at so many videos, I have finally found the right one. To the point and precise. Please keep up the good work! You have my gratitude... Cheers!
Hi mate. Thanks for always teaching us how to do these things and helpings us all improve. I love making little videos only for myself but i have a terrible time when it comes to colours as im colour blind. Is there anything i can do to make it easier? Like Ai or any other suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you gavin.
Thanks.very cool and and informative.I still want to know I still don’t see ‘ drive’ in custom LUT.these are in the lut for me #recently #choose custom LUT #reveal in folder ..just these are showing in my custom LUT.can you pls tell me why and how to fix it?
Now you can put the LUT for a piece of footage into the information panel. Does this mean the LUT is applied at the end of the effects or before the effects? You can't tell by looking at the order of the colour effect modifiers because it does not appear in this list. Many thanks.
nice content .. thank you for sharing the Cinematic Color Grading Final Cut Pro X .. very helpful and educational content, continue like this, thank you for sharing your content for free.
Wow with your cinema grade because I’m using the m1 pro, I typically put the custom lut above all else and then do the exposure and everything and they always typically look great. I may try this definitely interesting
Hi - a Question: is the free LUTs: THE COMPLETE COLORIST COLLECTION 70 FREE LUTS the same LUTs as you pay $49 for if you upgrade the BONUS FILM ADD-ONS when you buy Cinema Grade Pro for $99 ?
Excellent contribution friend, the explanation is absolutely clear and consistent, it helps me a lot with this information, since I really needed it, thanks, color grading is our favorite editing process, it is always good to know the processes of others to be able to get some ideas and apply them to ours too, congratulations for the video!
In trying to layer things correctly, should the LUT be put on each individual clip like this using "Custom LUT" or is it ok to put it in an adjustment layer on top of everything? Does that mess with the correct layering you're describing?
How do you save a clip in Cinema Grade when you hit apply to your final color grade where does the file go? The changes are made but where are they saving to?
This is a bit overwhelming for me. I am in the process of putting together my camera (mirrorless APC) and lens system, for both video film making and photos. The Fujifilm cameras offer simulated colour profiles but the Sony doesn't. Do you think the Fuji is a better choice for me if I don't want to do colour grading in post production and still get a cinematic look? With the Sony it seems a must so that kind of puts me off. Thanks
How do you know what layer goes on top of which? I know the white balance adjustments happen before the conversion LUT, but what about other adjustments? Above the white balance layer or is there a trick to it?
ive just got cinemagrade pro now trhrough your link. although its gonna be great but what you are teaching is is equally important so i thank you verymuch for sharing uiur knowledge.
Question: You used Hue vs Hue to correct the skin tones, only. But if the skin tones were off, doesn't that mean the white balance for the entire image was off? By using Hue vs Hue, wouldn't that correct the white balance for the skin tone but leave the rest of the image off-balance? If I'm misunderstanding this, then I'm not sure what would make the skin tones off but leave the rest of the image properly balanced.
if its one clip, how do I color grade the whole clip all at once?? I did a hyper lapse on my Mini 3 Pro but Final Cut is only grading a portion of the 10 sec clip
Hey Denver, I have Color Grading Central Cinema Grade Filmmaker version and a brand new M1 MacBook Pro maxed out, and the plugin is giving me the red screen after grading. All software is the latest versions. What's wrong? I've been using it on my older iMac 5K 27" for a few years and it's great, but not working currently on my new machine...
I never knew anything about color grading until now. It's actually quite fun! But I do have one question. Is it possible to isolate a part of the shot (like the sky) and only adjust it separately?
For some reason after I finish color grading and export the media on my phone it looks dull and dark but in the timeline it looks perfect. Using Final Cut Pro any idea why this happeneds?
Would be great if you talk about that cinematic look that travel filmmakers get on their videos, things like Bloom or Halation and stuff like that that makes their videos look so high quality
So the order of color correcting with a LUT would be: 1) Add LUT 2) Fix contrast and color temperature, but move them above the LUT first as to utilize the full dynamic range If we're adding a creative LUT, that would be the third step and would we keep it beneath the previous steps (contrast/color temp color wheels and the LOGtorec709 LUT)?
Step-by-step breakthrough revealed for achieving cinematic color grading Final Cut Pro X EVEN if you're only just getting started.
I have probably watch scores of videos and tutorials on color grading. This is the first one I've watched where I understood everything and feel like I can color grade all my footage from previous videos. Literally felt my brain unlock. Thanks! Great video!
Haha that's awesome! So glad to hear it @yungrogue :)
Went from zero colorgrading experience to 100 in a few hours. I don't know what I'm doing (not fully yet) but you just got me on my feet. Cheers
This is absolutely crazy that this video is free. Awesome video man thanks for explaining literally every single step and why you do them!

This is amazing but overwhelming at the same time. Great video :)
Seriously. A lot going on here but so great. Really exactly what I've been looking for.
Your video is underrated. I watch many videos about grading on final cut and your video stopped my searching. You understand the issues and give the right answers for my all problems. Thank you

Great video explaining the workflow in FCPX. That being said, I have had Cinema Grade for a while and it is an excellent plug-in!
Thanks for saying so :)

Check the other videos in my channel, I do have one specific to the adjustment layer.
Hi - a Question: is the free LUTs: THE COMPLETE COLORIST COLLECTION 70 FREE LUTS the same LUTs as you pay $49 for if you upgrade the BONUS FILM ADD-ONS when you buy Cinema Grade Pro for $99 ?
There is some overlap there but you do get a bit more film stocks (22 film stocks) and also film grain with the bonus film add-ons
This is very useful for me. Thank you so much for sharing.
You’re welcome

It really is interesting and entertaining for me to see everything related to this topic, thank you very much for sharing it!
Excellent lesson, with some of the best insights I’ve seen.
I didn't know that Jared Harris knew so much about colour correcting!
That was super informal! 🤯 Probably the best breakdown I’ve seen yet 🎉

I love this Final Cut Pro software, I use it and it has great effects, my projects look great, thanks for the explanation
This color grading is amazing! I love it! Teach me more!
When I use the vector scope I can adjust the length of it. How do I figure out the perfect length?
never knew about positioning the log correction below all the other adjustements 👍🏻

This video is excellent, this information has helped me a lot, I recommend it
There was no card above when I looked for them for the adjustment layers and 70 LUTS???
Here you go respectively ua-cam.com/video/ZmP0d3VIxyk/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/8H2v0PISuZQ/v-deo.html

Awesome video man! Good stuff
This was an extremely helpful video! Thank you!
Glad to hear it, thank you for the comment!
If I apply a rec 709 camera lut on 10 bit log footage on a 10 bit HDR timeline, do i lose the HDR goodness?
Would be great if you talk about that cinematic look that travel filmmakers get on their videos, things like Bloom or Halation and stuff like that that makes their videos look so high quality
Best guide ever! Congratz!
What a great cinematic color grading! Love this! This will be used by me!
This is a game changer for me!
