    As a total beginner, I've looked at several yourtube tutorials on this and yours is absolutely the best. I really feel confident that I can do this by the end of watching your tutorial rather than feeling more confused than when I started (which is how I felt watching other people's tutorials)! Thank you!!! (It was particularily helpful showing us what to do when things go wrong - thanks for including those bits too.)

    Thank you for this clear and detailed tutorial! I'm no expert with Premiere Pro, but I have enjoyed learning. I have used Acapella to record violin/piano and violin/violin duets; it works ok but has limitations. I searched for a long time before finding this wonderful explanation of how to do this in Premiere Pro. Lots of teaching videos have low resolution so that I can't read the screen. Some go too fast and make too many assumptions. This one is perfect. I learned a ton from watching this.

    I don't know if you were skipping shortcuts for the tutorial, but here a few that will be a HUGE help for you:
    - and = (SUPER USEFUL): zoom in and out in your timeline.
    Sync tracks: with a clip selected, hit Alt + arrow left/right. This will move your clip back and forth on the timeline (Shift Alt + arrow will skip 5 frames at a time). This is easier and more accurate than using the mouse.
    Ctrl + K: This will cut your clips. So at 40:19, you could've selected all clips and hit Ctrl + K. Boom! All cut. Just delete everything on the left or right side.
    Add Default transition (Cross Dissolve): Ctrl + D. I just learned this one this week and it was a huge timesaver when I put lyrics on my video and wanted them to fade instead of cutting.
    Try to learn a new shortcut every project you make. This will change your video editing from 20 hours to... 19.5 hours haha Just kidding. It could cut a good 5 hours or more from your editing one of these videos.

    • @palomasings
      @palomasings  4 роки тому +2

    Thank you for putting this together. Quick tip for aligning videos on the screen. Combine POSITIONING with ANCHORING. Anchoring is that little dot in the center of each clip. That's where positioning number is coming from and where the scale (zoom) goes up and down from. So, if you want a video at the top left, set anchor to 0,0 and positioning to 0,0. From there, change the scale (i.e. 50%).
    Then go to the next clip (in your case soprano 2) and do the same thing, but use values for both anchor and position to 1920,0 (that's 1920 horizontal by 0 vertical). Change the scale to 50%.
    Next, go to the 4th video (alto 1) and change position and anchor to 1920,1080. Guess where this one will be when you can scale to 50%?

    • @danilo352
      @danilo352 4 роки тому

      Another tip: use Photoshop or Illustrator to figure out where everything needs to go before doing it in Premiere. This cuts down on time, since those softwares are much easier to do this kind of thing.

    • @palomasings
      @palomasings  4 роки тому +1

      Danilo, THANK YOU!! Everyone will appreciate this, I'm sure. I have to check out that anchoring part 😃
      I also use Photoshop for that, but I thought that would be too much for someone who uses Premiere for the first time and all they want to do is to just make a video without too much fuss.

    • @danilo352
      @danilo352 4 роки тому

      @@palomasings that makes sense about not wanting to do the Photoshop thing. Just to expand on that a little bit: I create the grid in Illustrator and export it to Premiere (as a .png file). Then the cropping doesn't have to be quite as perfect since the grid hides imperfections.

    • @danilo352
      @danilo352 4 роки тому

      I have done 4 of these videos and let me tell you that when I learned about anchoring in the second one, it was a life changer. It's SO much faster and more precise!! I was doing all kinds of math before, but the anchoring takes most of that away.

    Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to make this tutorial. It was so helpful - I can now create virtual choir videos for my choirs! Question - are you able to modify pitch and timing (i.e. consonants, entries, cut-offs) of the audio files in Premiere Pro? ...In case some of my students' recordings need to be adjusted?

    • @palomasings
      @palomasings  3 роки тому

      Hi Karin! Sorry for the late response. Unfortunately no, you can't modify pitch... When I need to do that, I do it in Studio One, the audio editing program I use.
      However, what you CAN do in Adobe Premiere is cut endings or beginnings. For example, if somebody holds a note for too long, I simply cut it and fade it out. Or if someone comes in too early, I cut it. If there are a lot of people in the video, it won't be noticeable.

    Helpful. Thanks! But you can use blade tool and chop all the video at starting/ending. It saves a lot of time than dragging video by video.

    Thank you for the refresher on how to use Premier--so helpful for those of us who haven't used it to layer yet. But could you tell us what that contraption on the left end of your piano is?? Thanks

    One of the best tutorials on youtube!!! Thanks a lot! You have a great sense of humor. I am wondering how you can hide some of the screens in the project. Let's say, at some point in your project you want to highlight only soloists on the main screen and hide the other videos, how do you do that?

    • @palomasings
      @palomasings  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you Oleg!
      To do that, you would have to cut out the section of the videos you don't want to appear. You do that by selecting the razor tool, then pressing ALT on the keyboard at the same time you cut the section in the video you don't want to show. If you don't press ALT the audio will also get erase, so be careful.
      I hooe that helped!

      @@palomasings Thank you for your reply! Yes, it helps. The only problem I am facing is when there are too many video files in the project, my computer starts lagging.

    • @palomasings
      @palomasings  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, that happens to all of us who have average computers. What I do is I turn off some of the videos and mute the audios. So if I'm working on the top left videos, I turn off everything else. That helps a little. Good luck!
