Very descriptive and perfect break down on how to practice these awesome kicks. Thank you. Although I train Muay Thai, I’d love to add these awesome kicks to my arsenal.💪🏽🙌🏽👏🏽
ive been trying to do even a basic spin kick, im i red belt itf and in our exams we need to display some punches and a lot of kicks, this is 1 i have had lots of trouble with, espically when we go into the sparring part as u get more points for spin kicks... this helped a lot.
Great tutorial. Do you have any videos that give tips to improve the spin itself at a higher level? I’m a third degree, and I’m trying to break into the next level of performance, but I’m having trouble finding ways to improve
There was a kickboxer in Benny the jet Urquidez from back in the 70 to early 80's who was known for using this kick in such a painful way. I feel this kick is very deceptive in the sense that when your opponent sees you turn your back ....( it gives the IMPRESSION of time slowing up but also VULNERABILITY due to giving your back to your opponent. ) which both psychologically deceives the opponent. When performed properly, by the time your opponent has time to throw his initial jab to the back of your head , your heel will not have only penetrated his rib cage but depending on speed and velocity could crush his ribs to kingdom come in a real life street situation. A very dangerous kick to have in your arsenal when done properly in either sports or street defense . Loved this video and instructions . Thanks
Great tips there really helpful, can you do tutorial on Raymond Daniels sidekick to jumping back kick knockout ????,it's a tricky one so be a challenge,
Leaning towards the ground while doing a spinning hook kick allows you to kick higher. And it gives you more momentum after the kick to throw another one right after.
Hey Alex, quick question. I just started training in Tae Kwon Do about a month ago, and for the past week ive had hip pain. Now one big contributors to this, i think is the fact that ive just started cross training in muay thai, and the different movements between the two put a lot of strain on my hips. Do you think the subtle difference in movements between the two martial arts is the reason that i'm feeling pain?
It could very well be that you are adding some new training in the mix. Make sure you are stretching before and after training and also that you are giving your body rest. It could just be that your body needs to adjust and get used to it too!
Alex could you do a video on how to spar someone with long leg plz as my mum has trouble with this at competitions and my mum has small legs as well so she finds it hard to reach there head
Definitely! Just make sure you stretch and warmup before and after training to help stay as limber as you can, but it is very beneficial to take martial arts no matter what age you are
after 40, if you are not fit and flexible, I wouldn't recommend taekwondo. That's like taking gymnastics classes or ballet. at least not the olympic style, probably the traditional taekwondo, which more ephasise on self-defence, rather than flashy acrobatic style techniques. it would do rather more harm, such as leg and back injuries.
My Master said that we should star shooting that kick right away coz you don't want to telegraph by turning and then kicking. He follows a certain principle that I'd heard before from michael Jordan. Anyway, he's a USA martial arts hall of fame and he's freaking great. But turning and then kicking has worked to me so far, I mean, untill I find a freaking skilled fighter able to anticipate my moves
I'd rather say simultaneously. If you turn and kick, you telegraph it and lose momentum of the turn. If you start your kick first and then turn, you again telegraph it and lose the push force from the ground. I try to think that I push my self from the ground to the turn and kick. About the video got to say that sure maybe if you are mighty flexible or kick low you can keep your head up, but for a bigger & older guy like me I need to take my torso down to get my kick high with power.

ms,wong what is better spinning hill kick or turning back kick!
Depends, each can be good in certain situations. Back kick is good for body shots and spinning hook kick is for head shots.
are you going to highest rank in taekwondo ms,wong.
What do you call that black wrapping around the red standing punching bag?
It's a bag cushion, it was on a heavy bag, sometimes I just put it on that bag to change the look.
Alex Wong Oh coolio
