also remember spinning your hips to look at the target isn't only so you can see where you are kicking, when your legs follow your hips they move more explosively. I've found that spinning my hips faster greatly improved my kick strength.
I have a love hate relationship with this kick, I can get power on it but find I'm quite slow at throwing it making it hard to land in sparring. I am working on the spin and the tip about extending at the last minute is useful. The spinning hook kick I think is much better than the reverse turning kick as it's often hard not to telegraph it.
As long as they can’t see it you will hit it.If your spinning hook kick is slow make sure you hold your hand out then kick it.If you’re doing a spinning hook kick on the head so a feint on the body with ur hand and do it
Thank you so very much Alex and pointing out making sure that you pivot on the non kicking leg I see that that was my problem and I concur with you 100% you have to strengthen those hips I am right handed my right is a lot stronger than my left I need a lot of practice but I have made a lot of improvement by watching your video thank you so very much and much love to you
I did this yesterday i mixed it with a back kick switch foot stants and hook it was successful but i caution if your pants is to long u will slip and fall on your back like i did ;)
Correct! However it's one of the low kicks used in Hapkido as well. Martial Arts is #Universal when you move beyond Systems and Nationalistic Egos. 💯☝🏿😎
Hey Alex. Also not to forget to train the muscle, by just holding the knie and do 30-40 repetition low high. And also doing 2-3 Reps of Hook Kick to improve the balance. But great performace. We all love TKD as you do))) Doing it for 20 years
If you’re not so flexible you can lean forward and I know she’s saying not to because you’re gonna loose your balance and fall but personally leaning forward helps me throw the kick and help me practice balance. Well now I can throw the kick and keep my balance. This kick is also about speed so if you are doing it fast enough less likely you are to loose your balance
I remember the spinning hook kick delivered by a sparring partner when I studied TKD. He didn't however keep his arms in. One was out for balance. The right arm which knocked me out as I came up from the spinning hook kick I ducked. So much for my plan to come up to jump kick. I didn't feel a thing but I had a little sleep straight afterwards. LOL
What I did was get some heavy-duty springs and connect them to a carabiner and then to a loop made with an old white belt. Then I connected this to a high bar or the ceiling above me. I then put my leg through the loop and I had some resistance with my leg in the air, usually while holding the back of the chair for balance. I would work on extending, pulling down, and to the left and right in a high position and on the power chamber. This really helped my kicks. I got the springs from an old device called a 'chest expander' like this: images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71HKQJwJhYL._SX355_.jpg
This kick is very weird one,as seen so many videos on it and everyone has different takes on it,me personally it’s one kick I’ve always been shit at off balance or hardly any power, which is weird seen as every other kick I can generate loads power from,
use keba dachi stance or horse stance move your back first and then lift your bent knee then perform aside kick the first corner of your sight and bent your knee again and return to your stance. practice its slowly at lower level. good luck.
Chinmoy Bakatial she once said she can't i wonder how she can kick this high yes i can do front splits both leg but not even close to middle split any tips??
Definitely tried your technique, definitely got my ass kicked, definitely looking into getting some classes instead of trying to learn how to fight from UA-cam tutorials.

Your a great teacher alex. Keep up the streaming.
Simp 😐👎👎
Was searching for this move, in shadow fight 2 you lean your arm on the ground, never knew it was wrong
They do that in Capoeira, called the "Meia Luia de Compasso". But that's it's own thing.
Correct! However it's one of the low kicks used in Hapkido as well. Martial Arts is #Universal when you move beyond Systems and Nationalistic Egos. 💯☝🏿😎
Well, you could lean your arm, but both ways are fine.

I want to try this one, good vid Alex:)
My favourite kick and I know prefectly
Nah, this was great illustration and explanation! My teacher explained it similar. Great work! 💯💯💯✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Will you please make video on how to use it in fight and how I get speed in this kick

Nice. Got any tips on the wheel kick? Specifically how to work on keeping the leg straight? My wheel kick always comes out as more of hook
Do you have a way to help someone kick higher? My kicks are not very high.

Great advice!!!
My favourite kick! Thanks for the tips Alex :)
Hope those tips being outlined in this video are highly effective.

James Miles it’s takes lots of strength, flexibility and practice to get good at
use keba dachi stance or horse stance move your back first and then lift your bent knee then perform aside kick the first corner of your sight and bent your knee again and return to your stance. practice its slowly at lower level. good luck.
Love that kick, but my hip flexibility is average, a kick I struggle with. I certainly stretch, but I seriously need to hit those hips way, way more.
nice one!
This is a challenge for me
Parfit kick madam! realy good

hello
Hi
Hey y’all I’m Alex
Falling to the ground.. that’s me. Glad it’s padded.
She should go to TaeRyong TKD. They can teach her how to do that kick the correct way.
U ARE THE BEST 😘😇🤗
I already have the kick down but I can't just not watch this video 😀😀
I think I got the idea now , however it will be 5 years or more of practice before it has that kind of speed 😂
i got my green belt
Yo if your so tough then go call up UFC President Dana White and step in the octagon!
3:20
Your make look jkd
Nice 👍👍😂😂
👏👏👏👏
👍👊
Come on now there's no time to spot a Target on a kick that's this fast. Spin hook kick is a blind kick its first visualized and then executed
Hey yoo I amalex soooo cute 😚😚😘❤

You are so beautiful alex. I love you😘😍
Why is your last name wong you don’t even look like a Hong konger lol
Try teaching it correctly. Find your target first... Sigh...
That's what she said to do in the video.
БОЛТАЕШЬ МНОГО
Thank you for the tip Alex.
