    Great video, that truck you caught stuck in the muddy stream crossing in baker was there for me. After they got my bike going I said thanks and left. I had no Idea he got stuck there. Poor guy, super nice.

    cool vid. The snow made it look quite interesting. I need to get back out there soon. Maybe for the Stateline supermoto this spring.

    I look forward to your video every year. Another great video, thanks for sharing and I’m sorry to see you didn’t get to finish. Post up what happened to the bike if you remember once it’s figured out.

      Jamie, why aren't you answering these questions? Anywho, his piston had a slight seizure event, possibly more than one. The intake side of the piston looked gnarly with the ring melted to it resulting in dramatic loss of compression. there's been an ongoing debate between us and our buddy who built the engine as to why it failed. There was a lot of disgusting sandy mud that we traversed. One theory is that somehow the bike ingested some of that nasty stuff. We don't really know what else it could be. Our builder is very meticulous and I've never seen him make a mistake. I wasn't riding it when it died but as you can hear in the video, it sounded ok until just after leaving Baker. After cleaning all the mud off my wr450, I pulled the air filter and it looked perfect inside but I was running a PC racing skin prefilter over my heavily oiled main air filter. My bike has roughly 300hrs on now and valves are still within spec, never adjusted. Some of that sandy muddy disgusting water did migrate up my fork tubes past the seals. Same happened to Lane's brand new 6 days 450. I think a lot of bikes sustained a unusual (for this event) wear and tear due to the weather conditions of this ride. Can't wait to do it again next year!

      @@BFasts52 Do you think a "fat guy on a little bike" (aka me on a CRF250L) could do this event taking all easy routes? I'm a decent off road rider...but in the midwest, so I'm not a fan of the sand unless is pretty hard packed.

    You definitely had an excellent pace and looked extremely comfortable over the course of those two days. The bike was sounding smooth right up until she signed off. Keep up the great work!

    You passed us on the powerline road before the mudhole when my buddy ran out of gas. I put up a video of the ride, you can see how we got through that muddy section. We went up to a narrow area and sent it up the bank.

    Hi: I am not familiar with roll-charts. However, after reading about it, do you think I can adapt a roll-chart for mountain biking LAB2V? I want to mountain bike from Barstow to Vegas and I don't have a good route. Do you think I can learn roll-charting and use roll charts in mountain biking from B to Vegas? Thx.

    • @lowlypawn
      @lowlypawn  4 роки тому +1

      Short answer is no. Why would you want to use roll charts when there is GPS? Also Lance Armstrong couldn’t mountain bike through all the said you will encounter. I mean give it a try but have someone in a RZR follow so you you don’t die of exposure.

      Yes, rings seized. So got it put back together and now it's making more knocking noise, will be getting a new motorcycle very soon.

    • @5AXISDLOCKHART

      @@lowlypawn Much sympathy.. It sucks when a fresh engine dies so soon. I have lost race engines within hours and years ago, a friend lost a fresh GSXR600 supersport build in less than 1 lap at Road America. Seized rings and knocking sounds a lot like a oiling issue. Mechanical carnage and failure analysis can be interesting . Take some good picks or vid of the teardown. With a stock build and non-race use, that motor should have lasted a long time. I'd be pretty unhappy with the builder.

    I can’t deal with ppl who stop in the middle of the trail/track. One of the most selfish actions you can perform...so dangerous. Btw, I dig the video.
