Hallelujah! Days of wonders is still valid ! What a wonderful knowledge to share. thank you, sir, for your great and worksome efforts and sharing.God bless☺
Thanks for sharing this excellent technique. I tried this recently and the finish is fantastic, tapioca flour did all the magic to me earthen walls. I wish I could have shared with you some pictures.
Awesome! my dream is to build my very own mud house here in the Philippines. I am so inspired by you guys! Thank you so much! Tapioca Flour Plaster is mind blowing!
Thank you for this very informative vid. I am doing repairs to a 25 year old structure and finding the final layer keeps cracking. I have tried wetting the original surface and then applying a finer, wet mix of mud, but it is still cracking. Maybe the tapioca and oil is the answer?
About 7 years ago I built a mud house in West Bengal, India. India has a big tradition of mud houses and slightly different techniques in different parts of India. The house I built was based on the tradition here in Birbhum, a district of WB. The walls are 22" thick. It is warm in winter and cool in summer. No need for air conditioning. But if I want to build a house with mud bricks, will it have the same level of insulation? .
Thank you for the interesting and useful video. I just want your feedback on whether this type of plaster can be used for a boundary wall without preventing or protecting from direct rain.
Awesome! Does this natural plastering method work for colder climates too, like Germany or Canada? I've just known that lime plaster mixes exist, but really wanted something more affordable and natural, like this tapioka mix... Hope to hear from you!
I’ve been looking into this as well- currently building- mud / cob is not good for cold climates by itself- only thermal mass, not much insulation. I’m going to experiment with a wood stick build with cellulose insulation and a cob interior plaster and lathe inside. I’m hoping there is enough of a gab between it and the vapor barrier it’s ok/ no mold. Was considering skipping the vapor barrier but it’s extremely cold where I am and it seems more essential than in other climates... it makes it much warmer. Hopefully works out
5 litees of water. 500gms or tapioca flour. 1 litre of cooking oil. You will need to experiment a little up or down, depending of the materials you have in each country. But this is the general formula. Once u get a mix, blend it with about 25kg of fine mud(make sure its fine after sifting through a net). And then look for the right mix that will stick to the wall once u apply a thin layer. Good luck!
You can plaster a mud house with cement but you lose a very important quality that a mud house has, it's breathability. No one who lives in a mud home would ever recomend this.
Hi m.f. tiles can be done by i think it would be a tough one. Because u would need something that hardens stronger than mud. So we think concrete would have to come in too though.
@@OurLand Would it be okay if concrete is applied to the outer part of the mud wall for tiles? Would that have any negative effect on the mud wall, hmmm... 🤔 Or maybe I'm guessing the tiles can just stick well enough on the mud, by using mud itself as the mortar, or maybe that's a bad idea?

Straw or hay chopped into pieces not more than 1-2 inches could also do..but it would also make the mixing much harder as now your binder is longer than the small rice husk. But rice straw is commonly used.
couldn’t this be done on the outside of any type of materials? like a day an old wooden shack that you wanna reside? why not make mud player for the outside walls?
It could. As long as there is no termite issue in the area. Also depends on what the objective is, as mud plastering would primarily be to cool the house down? Also something to look into would be how the first layer of plaster(mud and rice husk mix) would stick to the wood. As in this case its mud sticking to mud.... it sticks easier than it would be mud. So theres a few things to consider.
If you ad the flour and oil, don't you ruin the ability that mud has to regulate damp and moister in the house? We live in Portugal and its very damp here and things get molded very easily.
I sent a message to the WhatsApp subscribers more than four years ago and told them about the method of making smooth blocks Just purify the agricultural soil from stones by one hundred percent, then add the amount for example ninety four percent soil and six percent cement and make the blocks by molds as cement blocks are made but do not light a fire on it and by changing the quantities if you want to change the strength or weaken the block.
Im loving this all the way. My dream house. Thanks for aharing. Awesome job❤
Wow the tapioca and oil mixture for plaster just blow my mind! Tht's how you get smooth house wall naturally! cant wait to make house in Africa!
ولكن من غير هذه الطريقه يكون المنزل رطب ويبعد حراره الشمس اكثر

Tapioca is that cassava starch? Would really love an update of how the house is as at now.

Thankyou sir ! Great information ;)
Good one (tropic flour + veg oil)

Try to fill the cracks with horse or cow dung. Just spread it into the cracks. Mixed with some mud or just as is. It will stop the cracking.
Too much clay, too little sand. Shrinks too much when drying. More sand, and fine fibers help.
Thanks for your wonderful techniques. I would like to know if this plaster can be used on fired clay brick wall.

Oooh, nice
Love your videos.
Where we have termites instead of using wood can you use steel
Nice
The finish is beautiful... can you use maize flour instead of topiaca flour?
We dont think so. Tapioca flour has a glutinous waterproof consistency. Not sure if corn flour has that

Wow

Is this plaster waterproof now
Please share quantity of tapioca flour and oil to add into 12 liter of water. Thank you

@@amitbiswas1 How did it go?
could I just seal/[paint[natural] the bricks and not have to plaster?
Hello sir I made a mud house and plastered it's wall from mud with wheat straw but it gets damged in heavy rain.please suggest me what to do next
Hi arunesh. How does it get damaged? Direct rain splatter? Moistrue from heavy rain?
Thanks for the video. I also have a question. Can you plaster the mud house with concrete cement? Thanks 🙏
You can plaster a mud house with cement but you lose a very important quality that a mud house has, it's breathability. No one who lives in a mud home would ever recomend this.
Can I add tiles on the (outside) walls? How will it stick?
Hi m.f. tiles can be done by i think it would be a tough one. Because u would need something that hardens stronger than mud. So we think concrete would have to come in too though.
We also recomment imprinted nature art on the mud. Take a plant and push it onto the mud. Has a very natural look.
You guys are a blessing. Your videos are funny and constructive. Editing good too. All the best

I wish I knew this before I spent $$$ on commercial limewash for my mud home!
what can I replace with the rice husk?
Straw or hay chopped into pieces not more than 1-2 inches could also do..but it would also make the mixing much harder as now your binder is longer than the small rice husk. But rice straw is commonly used.
Recipe for plastic finishing plz ?
Please tell what kind of painting can be done on above plastered surface
It better to use water proof paint ,we do it A Lot here in Africa .
Goood question. We havent experimented with any painting yet. I guess as Jay said, waterproof is a good start :)
How to prevent from insects?
What's the alternative for the tapioca flour?
I would experiment with other types of starches, whichever are readily available in your area, such as corn or potato starch.
Your house would be even cooler in temperature if you had an insulated ceiling/roof.

Что даёт добавление крахмала в штукатурку?
It makes it water resistant. So it doesnt stain your hand.

What about the durability of the house?
If built right, mud houses are known to last for over 500-1000 years.
Ok, I must have skipped this video. Now I see the plaster is made from mud also. Hehe.
:) 5?
I don't like the idea of using processed cooking oil on a natural mud house .
please don't translate "mud houses" with "case di fango" in italian, the right translation is "case di terra cruda"!!
What is an alternative flour mixture?
