  • How to Build a Mud House? This is the first episode of our "How to build a Mud House?" series. The first part is preparing the mud bricks. We used over 1350 bricks to build this house. This mudhouse is a single room with a veranda, toilet and attic room that takes up a total size of 4mx8m (32sqm). Only 10% of the consturction uses concrete with another 10% used by metal for the roof structure. The remaining 80% is mud and rice husk.
    The usual mixture is 1:1 for mud and rice husk. That means 1 sack of mud, and 1 sack of rice husk. This will ofcourse depend on the kind of mud you have. If your mud is too sandy, then you might have to add clay to it to make it stickier.
    Once the mixture is mixed well by people walking all over the mud pit, then we trasnfer it into a ladder frame cast. It's easier to produce a big ladder frame, especially if your casting area is away from your mud pit. Remember, your casting area will need to get full sun. As the mud bricks need to be left there for 5-7 days.
    Also as soon as your mud bricks are done, move them into a dry shaded area, as you dont want the rick husk to deteriorate on the inside. This will be key, as house construction will start only once you have enough bricks. So keeping your bricks safe is important. We stored our bricks for over 2 months before they were actually used.
    During actual construction, all the bricks will soon be plastered for protection. An easy way to keep mud bricks is to simply cover them with black waterproof terpolin sheet (or any waterproof sheet). You can stack the mud bricks as high as human height, dont worry about the lower bricks cracking.

    Cement concreteसिमेंट का घर में इस्तेमाल होने वाला लोहा या अन्य चीजों की recovery का संभव ना के बराबर है, और मलबे का recycling भी असंभव है. ऐसे में मिट्टी से बना हुआ घर के मलबा आसानी से reuse हो सकता है और मलबे की समस्या भी नहीं होती हैं. लोहे की बर्बादी भी नहीं होतीं हैं.
    इसलिए मिट्टी और नैसर्गिक वस्तुओं से घर बनाने से पर्यावरण भी सुरक्षित रहता है.

    • @OurLand
      @OurLand  2 роки тому +4

      Hi dear heart. Well to be honest its all about how you plaster the walls. We were recommended by some of the local mud builders to use cement for the walls of the bathroom to prevent eater erosion. Instead we use "leak proof spray paint". Its available in hardware stores. About the sauna, technically in terms of structural strength it would be fine..and it would be fine as long as you look into
      1. Plastering walls and waterproofing them really well. If you really are looking at long term then unfortunately waterproof concrete might be your optons.
      2. Ensuring that the steam rising from the hot stones in the sauns can exit the room without getting in contact with more mud walls. So you probably need a duct setup well. I am sure there are experts out there who can give better recommendations, but since saunas and mud houses usally dont go well together, there might be some use of cement.

      Hi waheed. A higher clay component in your soil will be needed to create the bricks. So not any soil. You should contact mud builders in your area to be sure. Or try making a few bricks and testing their strength.

    • @OurLand

      Thats a good question. For us we used rice husk.. and it came from the local rice mill. For hay, you can maybe try asking people who have cattle, as they often buy it for their cows during some times of the year. Hope that helps
