Hello again, in last weeks video I briefly showed a Wrenn W2205 0-6-0 R1 Tank loco that had been in storage for many years. In this video I take a proper look at it and see what it needs to get it ready for a run on the Tri-ang Hornby Super 4 Railway. Thanks for watching
What a fantastic smooth runner, I don't know anything about wrenn locomotives but there engineering looks very precision made. All the best.
Thanks for watching, these are really just updated Hornby Dublo units with some great heavy duty engineering All the best to you
That was nice to watch. Really good robust packaging and a sweet 0-6-0. That end float adjustment is such a handy design. It beats having to take the worm off and add spacers like on an XO3/4. Great to see it running around so nicely. 😊
Yes Pauline, I really don't like it if I get an X04 with heaps of end float, A screw and locknut system is very easy to adjust but probably hugely expensive to make. Take care, all the best to you
Another interesting video, what a lovely little.e runner ,great to see it running
Hello Martin, these little plastic bodied Hornby Dublo locos are lovely to operate, they might not pull as much as a Tri-ang item but they run very smoothly. Take care, all the best to you
Wow what a Gem! - Beautiful 🤩
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you liked seeing this. All the best to you
What a fantastic episode, great camera work, Wrenn were at a whole different level, compared to similar models of the day, or today, for that matter.
Thanks for watching and also, I appreciate the kind words regarding the filming. It's good to hear you like Wrenn, I think I'll run Wrenn for a bit now. Take care, all the best to you
Most of these Tri-ang and Wrenn look to have evolved along similar lines?
Always good to work on.. Servicing for a long life is not beyond anyone who will take a little care?
Great video as usual .. Thank you..
You are right, with a bit of care and time these items are great to work on. All the best to you
Always nice to see Wrenn locomotives running
I'm glad you like these, I think I'll run some more Wrenn for a bit now. Take care, all the best to you
That Wrenn R1 is the same as the Dublo one I worked on recently; even the same motor. Really stands the test of time! I note the suggestion of brandy for your voice; might I suggest an Islay malt.😁
I've got some Bowmore knocking about, Thanks for watching, all the best to you
That’s a wonderful little R1, the only Wrenn loco I have is the Southern version which is still in reasonable condition and works well. It did loose one of its buffers at some point that I have failed to find so I have substituted some from an old Triang Jinty body shell I have.
It sounds like a good repair to the buffers on your R1, they are smooth runners. Take care, all the best to you
Nice to see your Wrenn R1 Tank unboxed, serviced and running.
I still haven't serviced mine yet so nice to see your approach.
Yours runs so well and quietly.
Stay well.
Mon
I hope you get yours serviced soon Mon, they run well after a bit of maintenance. All the best to you
A glass of brandy might help 🥃
Thanks Doctor Nick, I'll sort a prescription. Best regards to you
👍
Thank you, all the best
I see you’ve finished your hump yard. Are you planning a video on it?
Hello, I did feature the first road which is connected into the layout a while back. I'm still finalizing the switching plan for the points at the moment. Thanks for looking, all the best to you
Snooze.
Yes, those funnel screws are a worry: this might be worth some thought and development. A lot depends on whether the bore is tapped right through. It is a 7?BA, probably not hard to find a tap and screw. It is possible to cut cut the head off a spare screw, shorten it, and jewellers saw a slot on one end. The 'lock screw' is then inserted from the bottom of the bore to tighten against the funnel screw while the loco is together (a lot more frequent than the bonnet is down on you car). The screw can be locked with a sparing amount of paint on the bottom of the thread on the screwdriver end, though not really necessary, the two screws act to stop pressure on the irreplaceable body shell. I haven't looked at a model, but with some careful thinking you might even be able to work a fully headed screw around the coupler obstruction.
Just a though for folk; my worst cases of screw-pressure damage has been with ungluable Rivarossi motor bogie castings. A nuisance.
Don't know if this works, but worth thinking. We have enough to do fixing things without those we wreck ourselves.
Another approach is to nick the thread so as it goes only so far. This is hard to adjust, and can damage the chassis thread.
Thanks for the effort Snooze. I don't know if anyone reads comments; if so, please share ideas. Without that the channel is so much less. Never be afraid to be wrong.
On that cough: the only proven way to cure coughs and colds is to refuse to do housework for a whole month.
Pete
I haven't been up at the layout since this video, but I will definitely check to see how deep the threads go. The grub screw idea is excellent Pete. Take care, all the best to you
@@MrSnooze Thanks Snooze; keep encouraging people; your channel is of great value.
Sensible editing would improve the video immensely 😂
Thanks for looking, Tips are always appreciated, how could this have been improved from you point of view? All the best to you
