Another huge thank you to Jace for writing a great review. Will you be picking this one up? Did you enjoy them first time round? Let us know. Happy gaming. Glen
SwitchUp I’ll probably pick it up at some point /on sale. I like what I see, and this is a great review .
This looks really good
Does it have a physical release?
Edit: Never mind I got my answer in the end of the video
Thanks as always for a wonderful editing/narrating job! And of course for letting me write this one, it was a blast!
In terms of anatomy i prefer the classic style 100%, no one draws girls like urushihara and i like more how looks the anime faces in the 90's styles, in terms of clothes, armory and weapons i'm 50/50, the new style have some improvements over the old one in how detailed and realistic are the armors for example, in 3:43 for example the armor looked too bulky compared with the new version
Who is Jace?
After seeing the priestess I have decided to buy the game
Haha, you might not be the only one! Glen
Yeah I did not expect that when I booted up the game!
Wait till u see the priestess in fe 3h
@@SuperAussie999 Which priestess?
Oscar Prudencio
I think he means Rhea?
It would be so cool if we could get a remake of that quality for Shining Force 1+2 ...
The shining force games were great. Glen
@@SwitchUpYt Shining force games 1 and 2 were my first SRPG's I ever played didn't really play another like that till fire emblem awakening though I discovered growlanser long before Langrisser its what always made me want to play a Langrisser game.
Agreed!
I would rather have a remake for Shining Force III, the greatest game I've ever played.
@@CRedd9830 I've never played Shining Force 3 but wouldn't mind either remakes of 1 and 2 or 3 I'm not overly picky given I never played three have no idea what I'm missing but I did play 1 and 2 a LOT as a child.
excellent video thank you, never heard of this one before great amount of content on it today
You had me at priestess.
I love games like this! Its like Fire Emblem GBA all over again. Perfectionism will be the end of me. 😂
Though I wish a remake of SNES's Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen would be done. That game is such a good tactics game. I recommend every strategy game lover to play it!
I never played the SNES Ogre Battle game but i love Tactics Ogre on PSP. It's my favorite tactics game.
I played the N64 one. Great game. Glen
@@SwitchUpYt A game that is certainly ahead of its time.
This definitely hearkens back to the older FE titles, but it's still great in its own right!
So Fire emblem looks like langrisser, because LG is older (Lagrisser is the continuation of Elthlead
, Crest of Gaia and Guyframe)
i wish the animations & portraits of the characters looked more like the style of the original genesis with just more detailed pixel art type graphics and dark and more serious. This remake looks more cutesy and animates more like a "Flash toon" from adobe Flash days.. so they come off animating like puppets. Hand-drawn-frame-by-frame-pixel-by-pixel is what i would have preferred.
Langrisser has been my favorite game since early 2000s and I've been waiting for a decent remake for over a decade now. I am so excited for this! Thank you for the review!
Awesome to hear! I am right addicted to them at the moment, very good games.
Did you try the Mobile game?, they have the original authors whit them, Satoshi Urushihara and Noriyuki Iwadare. Also the game has also the licence from Masaya games.
ANd looks better than this thing. The game Is the continuation of langrisser V
@@cybermx8896 I did play it for a few months but I couldn't commit to the daily grind so I stopped
@@jancarlocaduldulan7535 Indeed it needs a lot of time.
I would have liked them to make this version for consoles. It would have been better.
Very interesting games.. thanks for the heads up!
8 hours in Langrisser I and I'm enjoying a lot this game. Pure Fire Emblem/Shining Force classic.
You had me at Fire Emblem lol
I've been patiently waiting for this game! I'm 100% going to buy it.
Awesome!
This really caught my attention, but not with that price. Ill wait for a sale. Great review!
Thanks Rafael. It is definitely a bit pricey.
Start collecting bottle caps, you can dig through trash cans for them. 🙂
For 2 games 50$ is not bad. Especially if it's more then 60 hours of gameplay.
@@purpledittozac3188 if you want every ending it's about 120 hours at least
@@kamoshidadaking4661 Exactly. I love the game, and the music is great too.
Really looks like a good buy but still think I might wait for a sale
There is a demo available to check it out as well!
Game is on sale now for 40% off on Switch and PS4 if you were waiting
Great Review! Thanks!
Thanks and you're welcome!
Great review as always. This is a day one for me.
Awesome to hear and thank you!
I loved Warsong on the megadrive and spent many hours playing it, didn't realize it was called Langrisser. Going to have to get this but probably wait till it goes on sale. Thanks for another get review.
Right now sir
Considering the price Warsong commands on the Genesis, I'm really glad this exists as an alternative. Plus I get to play it wherever I go on my favorite console. I pre-ordered the ridiculously jam-packed collectors edition that game with a ton of feelies and I have zero regrets. :D
With all the Disgaea games, the Valkyria Chronicles games, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, three phenomenal Super Robot Wars games, the underrated Fell Seal, the Mercenary Saga games, Wargroove, and Langrisser I & II, the Switch has become a GREAT system for turn-based strategy games and strategy RPGs.
Thanks for the solid review dude- watched this a few times trying to decided wether or not to buy it;0
Really bv tempted to pick this up. I miss Advance Wars, and Shining Force.
This is a solid game, but if you are unsure there is a demo available!
You need to play Wargroove, buddy.
@@Rockjesu Wargroove is great. Definitely scratches that Advance Wars itch. Langrisser is closer to Shining Force, though.
Ah yes, I've been waiting for this! Gonna pick it up, since there can never be enough turn-based strategy games
Looks really good! Mark
Cheers Rob, Jace nailed it! Mark
Thanks Rob! I very much like the anime style here as well.
Downloading the demo now!
The MC from langrisser 2 is a direct descendant from 1, same goes to the games supporting cast.
I owned 2 copies of this game for Sega growing up. I might even still have one. The first ,Warsong.
But the in-game main Character name was Garrett. Not Ledin.
It's been nearly 20 years. Fortunately I have a switch. And Now.. I own both games again. Better graphics. Love this game.
What makes this game better than Fire emblem. Is the ability to actually use and move troops around the battlefield in Battle. For tactic. Much more strategy.
I preordered but like the original art style better.
However I feel I have to support games like this as I loved them growing up.
This was excellent and it brings me back to my childhood. Now they need to do it to Shining Force 1, 2 and 3.
Man, don’t even. That would be too good
I never knew warsong was just the first one renamed 😮
Played the demo on ps4 and quite liked it. The only minor gripe was that you could change parts of the game to old skool, like the portraits and music but not the actual game graphics. Would of been nice to have the option.
agree
Yeah, I actually prefer the 16-bit soldiers smashing into each other over the updated graphics. The fact that they don’t actually clash really bothers me. The unit sprites were pretty cool too, especially in L2.
I loved the demo and the combat is genius.
I and II come in the same package because they are related: Ledin (MC from Langriser I) is ancestor to Elwin (MC from Langrisser II). Same worlf different time periods.
At the start the Goddess Lushiris asks you questions (she is not a priestess) but rather the force of good in this world.
Just adding a bit to the lore. Great game and I hope people get to enjoy it (long time fan)
Nice review Jace... tad to expensive for me but looks like a nice little game
If only Rune Factory 4 was given this amount of glow-up for their remaster
I agree, when RF4 was announced I expected a little more done to the graphics.
They didn't have the budget.
This game is amazing, so glad I picked it up. It’s what I was wanting from the most recent Fire Emblem
How did you get past the terrible art style?
@@sharebear421 I love the art style. All depends on if you like anime look or more realistic look. I love how Fire emblem used to look. Three houses I can barely see how my guy looks like unless I zoom in. All classes look the same in the map. The old art style I can see how unique my characters look on map.
@@tritonh5683 I’m fine with anime look but this looks like a cheap mobile game
oh my goodness, i manage to not play this beforehand. As a classic TRPG lover i would love to buy this
You will definitely like this if you like the old FE titles!
Kevin Lie same! I am waiting for it to go on sale tho because I made the mistake of purchasing Fire Emblem on the switch. Dumbest decision ever... I was fooled to thinking I was going to play the old FE. But nonetheless I’m definitely going to play this one
@@lunarialoonatic not so, fire emblem 3h also one of my favorite TRPG though. The story is good and the new weapon system actually give fresh air to the game
Vanguard Bandits was a ps1 that turned me to this genre of gaming
SwitchUp and SwitchWatch tag teaming again!
Yep haha! Mark
Games like this always remind me of Suikoden, the war gameplay is similar
This games is older than Suikoden!!!!!!!!!
Nice Review! been checking it since it's on sale! I'm sure this one is included in your eshop sale video. ✔️
I want to buy this bad but really ought to wait for a sale
Omg this is my kind of game, I love the art and the old school graphics
Awesome! You'll probably love the classic visuals setting then.
Dude Warsong for the Sega. Such a ridiculous difficult game. Legend has it my oldest brother actually beat it once... once.
Looks pretty nice visually, on top of the gameplay and story . I’ll probably get it eventually .
In the meantime there is a demo available if you wanted to try it out!
Jace Glover oh, thank you !
Nice visually?? Did you look the mobile game? The mobile looks better than this. It have the updated art from Satoshi Urishihara.
Cyber MX no, it’s the first time I see this game 🤷♀️

I just want to know for Elwin if there are more class options from the start. I remember being able to start as a hawk knight or priest.
The goddess of light, Lushiris, finds your mistaking her for a mere priestess disappointing.
That is extremely disappointing
Hahaha
Finished Langrisser I Remake with 26 hours of play.
Highly recommended for fans of classic Fire Emblem or Shining Force. The music is outstanding.
The Class Tree system is more complete than that of FE Sacred Stones.
And now I have the New Game + and the complete Langrisser II to play.
@biological force field story is very typical. Good but not splendid. Not much plot twists.
@biological force field one sad moment in the game.
saw someone sellin this for 2nd hand today. seems interestin
Seeing this makes me think a Dragon Force remake would be pretty damn sweet.
I would gladly buy a Dragon Force 1 and 2 anytime. I still have those 2 games for the Sega Saturn.
nice co-op, guys! Btw, did you ever review XH2? I searched in the videos and could not find it....
I don't think so
@@SwitchUpYt then it is a high time to do it, guys! pleasse pleasee!)) I love it for what it looks like, but I am afraid to buy it without your comments!
We need a modern Blue Lagoon game. Those were so much fun
You mean Bahamut Lagoon? If so, I agree 100%. I would love to see that on the Switch, in English.
@@Jayce_Alexander yes, typo
Can’t wait to dive into this game. I love how the switch makes it possible to play these gems from the past I missed!
Isn't it great?! This is a very well done remaster.
I just bought it for the adventures of princess Cherie ! She is brave, hot and strong even today. This game still rocks even today. :)
Also if you actually read the dialogue the characters will explain unit weaknesses in the guise of instructing the characters.
What was added to PSN in 2009? I can't find anything but the new game (which I own) and would like to purchase whatever else is on psn
I tried to play the demo after hearing how this inspired the spinoff growlanser which i loved. But i couldnt get into it to much. Maybe I'll get it on special
What does the demo include? I did not think to try it out before doing the review.
seeeyaaaa!
They were originally developed for the Sega Genesis. Langrisser I was first published in North America as Warsong. Langrisser II was previously Japan only.
The game is very badly programmed and rushed out based on the preorder frenzy/nostalgia. NIS is another company like Sega looking for quick cash
Warsong on Sega Genesis had sick good music. Awesome game too.
That was one hell of a game sir
Warsong is langriser. They released it under a different name in some regions.
dat priestess
Has great personalities.
I got this on a ps4 sale really cheap and WoW! I love it! I just wish I got on the Switch instead. Its perfect for handheld. And money is tight during this pandemic, the days of owning multiple versions are almost over for me :(
So anyway my point is: if anyone reads this and is deciding what version to get, id reccomend the Switch version. 👍
I came here to find out if I want it and I found it on the switch. I’m still deciding but I’m leaning. What made you get it?
@@dorfinn2196 for one, it was on sale lol. I also got it on switch too , I couldn't resist haha. But seriously tho, its great man. If you like turn base strategy, or fire emblem/advance wars. Then I would recommend immediately. Especially on portable. Its the perfect portable game in my opinion! The voice acting is great too. Music is also good. But the best part is the new artwork. It just looks great on switch in handheld.
So yea, if your a fan of "Advanced Wars" style of game, then I'd say your gonna love it👍
If only we could get a remake or upgrade to Shining Force 1, 2, Gaiden, and CD, hell ANY of them, please! I fear it'll never get the proper treatment it deserves. Fond memories of playing SF1 & 2 for numerous hours as a kid. Heck, even creating current gen box sets with Shining the Holy Ark and Shining Force 3 with proper english translation localization would be wholeheartedly welcome!
A tactical game? Sweet! We need more! Now if we can just get XCOM Enemy Unknown...
Kaid Butler XCOM 1&2 have been announced for Switch.
If only! Mark
Prince Goro no way! Don’t get our hopes up!
Kaid Butler Nintendo life had a article about XCOM and Catherine being rated for Switch.
Prince Goro sweet!
is there auto battle for both game?
*Puts on hipster hat* Technically Lucilis/Lushris is the Chief Goddess of Light in the world of Langrisser, not simply a priestess.
Ah yes, excited and I can't wait to see what this channel personally thinks about the game. Naturally they spoil the beginning of the story and other tidbits for me and I leave the channel less likely to play it at all...
Honestly, this game is quite good even though the combat system is a bit different compare to the earliest versions . Since it is my childhood game, I bought it because of nostalgia and reminiscing that it was a pretty great game. However, if it wasn't for those reasons, I would not buy this game at this price. Probably will have waited until a sale.
Once you go Fire Emblem it’s hard to go back to this. Gives up far too many quality of life improvements and tactical features. Thanks for review as always.
You're welcome!
@@jglover8 I prefer shining force

i just want growlanser
Fire emblem was 26 this Black Friday I think this game is a little expensive should be atleast 20
I thought you sayd €14,99 😅 look great but I wait till it is the price I thought you say. My backlog can handle that 😂

Armageddon Is upon us The money is not the problem here. I would buy something else for the bottlecaps.
what have they done to my beloved langrisser? this shit looks like an iphone game.
Holy shit this looks like Dragon Force! Sold! This is very interesting and something I predicted a long time ago. Please allow me to explain...
In the mid 1980's and all throughout the 1990's Japan ruled the gaming sphere. Very seldom did a gaming dev outside of Japan make something truly great. Minus ID in the early 1990's and Valve in the late 1990's. By 2001 American developers began rising up and taking the fight to the Japanese markets. Many European dev teams soon followed and the Japanese RPG's began to falter. We were going from 100's of amazing games to maybe 10's of truly great titles. Yes, we always had Nintendo exclusives but not the amount of Japanese games we used to get.
The industry started to be ruled by Western developers. EA and Ubisoft became absolute unstoppable juggernauts. This went on for a very long time. Unfortunately, many developers began to push political pandering over great games. It became invisible checkmarks over gameplay. Many Western developers are trying to bring it back by taking that trash out of our games...but I believe it's too late. Thankfully, it appears the day's of amazing Japanese games have come roaring back with a vengeance. In this year alone we have witnessed a veritable explosion of just epic stuff from Japan.
I may love my hardcore FPS games but I am so excited too see the Japanese RPG's hitting with a vengeance. Too those of you that were to young to experience these games you're in for something truly special.
Eh. Tweening chibi Flash characters will never look as good as sprites to me.
Forgive me priestess, for I have sinned.
Coming back because this is on sale at lowest price ever!
And if you enjoy SRPG Langrisser I & II, you will likely enjoy the Langrisser Mobile gacha game.
49.99? Idk man. On sale now for 29 and I'm considering. Never played any of them

I play for the plot.
Love Warsong, but the art on this looks attrocious
if only in the android like this
Don’t purchase now, wait for a sale rather quickly after release, tends to be the trend for these rather expensive Nis America releases.
Not a bad idea if you plan to buy digitally.
glad they updated the art but why change the style
true but still best game ever*warsong*
"Updated" art.
The original art was from Satoshi Urishara back in the 90's. It has a lot of that 90's feel. I will say that my daughters prefer the updated art, but I prefer the older art style.
Damn, it looks like a mobile game. They could spend more on the art.
It's just a remaster... ^-^ The games are pretty old but good as well. ^-^
Nope, it have new sprites and arts. Its almost a remake. They just ported the core from the original. Anyway, they did should spend more on the sprites, its so bland and cheap, like a mobile game. I would pay 2 bucks for a game looking like that.
I personally think the sprite work is well done, and any game with 2D sprites could look like a "mobile game" to be honest.
@@jglover8 There is well animated and high detailed sprites and shody and lazy pieces of graphics. This game belongs to the second category. Many games from 20 years ago have much better visuals and interface design than this. The only advantage this game have is the higher resolution. Its shiny, but its crap.
Sorry for the rant, i waited for something better. They remade all the graphics, all that work for something so shitty.
@@rensou82 Even the original Langrisser games on Genesis look better than this lol.
This looks just like the mobile game to me and $75AU is just way way too much. I'm waiting for 50%-75% off before I get this. Otherwise the game seems amazing! :) glad there's a physical copy though!
something need to happen to these nintendos switch games prices. even miracle need to happen that consoles own games come to sales.
I'm sorry you are subject to the AU eshop. I feel like you guys get a massive markup on just about everything!
Mhh, nope, the Langrisser mobile game has better graphics than this version.
@@suomiapina89
Nintendo's greedy refusal to lower prices even years later is exactly why I will no longer buy their products. Breath of the Wild is still full price three years after release. The Switch Lite is reasonably priced, but it's a massive downgrade without video out.
@@sayckeone lite is shit, when your one joystick is broken then the whole console is broken. Yeah that zelda complete version cost 100€ in here finland. Witcher 3 price is too funny, that much when the game is old and downgraded. Witcher 3 on ps4 is about 10€. Then there is those mobile games which cost about 10€ and on mobile they are 1-2€ or free. This need to stop.
What is the switch $90 and up what happened like what the hell happened it's not even that old yet
Langrisser 2 is a prequel to Langrisser 1. It's an unknown number of generations prior.
I remember that it was the opposite. In certain route Lushiris summon the protagonist of langrisser 1 Fate servant style.
@@noukan42 If you chose to oppose the light faction, she does summon Ledin (Ancestor, Protagonist of Langrisser 1) to fight Elwin (Protagonist of Langrisser 2).
No. It follows this order. Langrisser 3> Langrisser 1 > Langrisser 2 > Langrisser 4 > Langrisser 5 > Langrisser Reincarnation > Langrisser Mobile.
NIS America? So is there any censorship?
I never played the originals so can't really say if there was anything that was needing to be censored in the first place. They certainly didn't censor the massive cleavage of the priestess, so that's something...
Nice😎
Unfortunately, this game looks like some free to play title on android. I love the franchise along with Growlnanser but its not what i looked for. I hoped for something like Fire Emblem graphics.
Start collecting bottle caps, you can dig through trash cans for them. 🙂
Its not fe dont expect it to be exaxtly like it even art wise
Hmmm this or wargrove
I'd say Wargroove is better value for the money since it is quite a bit cheaper and just added on some DLC. There's a demo for this one though if you wanted to try it out, not sure about Wargroove.
Wargroove no doubt about it. I have 400+ games and wargroove is one of my top 3
Not my type of game, will buy when it is eventually 67% off or so 🤷♂️
There's a demo as well if you want to try it.
the series looks good but the visual combat aesthetic always turned me off, i dont like the whole famicom wars look when u enter combat between units... i prefer how fire emblem or any other srpg does it
I’d rather have the original art then this mobile phone crap.
The original art is an available option. It doesn't change the sprites on the map, but you can change the anime-style models as well as the maps themselves.
Indeed. The original artwork is 100x better. Satoshi's character designs are legendary.
The new artwork looks generic as fuck.
@@EyeHateUrSN amen to that
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like the new artwork better. The old stuff looks too 80's (even though it's from the 90's).
@@SeanUCF Right. The new art isn't even "bad" per se. I actually like it.
But when i hold it up next to the original art. It just falls so flat.
In my eyes, the characters have more "character" with Satoshi's unique character designs.
There is nobody else like him in the business.
And that's why I'm sad they weren't able to have him draw the new scenes.
Tried the demo...really didn't grab me. Felt like a bad fire emblem! Love the video though guys, seeeeyaa
It's much closer to a classic FE game from the early 90's. If you are used to new FE, then yeah it might feel a bit outdated.
1 is a generic Fire Emblem clone with no interesting gameplay, but 2 is AMAZING. You can choose to join the "evil" empire or fight against them.
Warsong came out before fe1 or at same time ish
Not sure Its worth it. I'm in Canada and it's normally 63 before tax on sale for 38
If only they remade these games without castrating it to modern low-attention, low-challenge dopamine addicts.
Looks like a great game for me but no English voice-over is a no go for me.
