Tim Connor and MFJJ of ‪@podiumarcher3447‬ talk about what they have found and break down the arrows in a side-by-side manner. This is a fun comparison video. #archery #arrows #budget

      Stephen Hansen and Archer Supplies has commented numerous times on his videos that he doesn't think it matters. He's shot just as good scores with .001 and .006 arrows. There might be an argument about straightness with broadheads but it's such a small measurement that it doesn't really matter.

    • @CruddyCpt
      @CruddyCpt Рік тому +1

      @@YoureSoVane I'm partial to believe most things Stephen says because he's been in the industry so long, and I fully believe that at 20 yards it really makes no difference, but 0.006 compounded over 100 yards could add up. The other side of this is shooting exactly the same every time at a distance that great, I think that human variance will outweigh the difference in straightness. But it would be a fun experiment none the less.

    • @YoureSoVane
      @YoureSoVane Рік тому

      @@CruddyCpt I agree. He makes a point that even in field archery he doesn't see a difference, and there's more variance in your arm sway than the straightness of an arrow.
      If it's linear deflection, as I would assume, at 100 yards that's less than an inch of deviation. However it's only linear in a sense, as the arrow will stabilize shortly after leaving the bow. The initial laugh direction might be slightly offset, but wind plays a much more significant role.

      Yeh was gonna ask the same thing, ive got the rip tko in .006 and .001 just to try might be a slight edge to the .001 but I spin test every arrow with field point or broadhead so they spin true, all I know is I hope I don't break lose too many of the .001, here in Aus it's $150 a doz for the .006 and $220 for the .001

    Good stuff! I buy cheap Vforce Sport shafts to practice with and use VF TKO Gamers for my hunting arrows. You especially don't need the straighter grades of shafts if you cut them down. I cut mine to 27" with a 29" draw. But honestly, the .006 Sports shoot just as well as the Gamers and Elites when you build them right. The TKOs are definitely more durable than the standard ones.
    That side blowout is the reason a lot of people use collars. If you had a stainless or even aluminum collar over that Titanium halfout it may have saved it from blowing out. The Stainless halfout on the RIP has that slight lip to it which helps keep the end from mushrooming.

    I shoot Black Eagle Outlaws for 3d in the winter, summer and all of my practice. I pay $6.70 per finished arrow which includes three Q2I vanes and a great arrow especially for that price. They are as durable as anything I've tested including RIP TKOs and group well at distance. The Black Eagle rep at ATA told me they are built exactly like their upper end arrows, they just needed a "budget" option. I do hunt with Carnivores but only because the gpi is lower so I can control my overall weight and FOC.
    As far as components, I hunt with the stock 15 grain aluminum insert and blow through deer without issue including shoulder blades. Every arrow, insert and VPA head are fine to put back in the quiver.

    I just need to say, and I don't know if anyone has mentioned this so far.
    You move the camera around very quickly, which I find hard to watch at times, and on this last video, the focus on the damaged arrow points was off so I couldn't see the damage.
    I don't mean to sound critical, its just my observation and others may be to polite to say something.
    I know camera gear is expensive and its a new start for you which I am really enjoying, but is there an attachment that stops the camera jumping as you walk.

    Tim, a good question I’d like to see Josh answer is whether the TKO (3K woven carbon) actually makes the arrow weaker. I shot the VAP TKOs and found all of their great arrows, they were not nearly as durable as even the regular VAP arrows made from a solid piece of carbon. Obviously the benefits of the 3K the carbon weave is the impact paradox correction, but I’d like to know if he has seen that durability issue?

    This video is spot on with what I have dealt with. I have one bow set up with RIP TKO, the other with RIP...both in 250 spine. The weight of a RIP at 250 spine is misrepresented on the victory website. I've ordered 3 dozen over the last few months, different packages. The weight is very consistently 10 gpi. So they do weigh significantly more than RIP TKO at that spine (10 gpi vs. 8.9). If I cut my arrows down to 28.5" carbon to carbon, use the same 60 grain steel insert, 125 grain tip, 3 fletch and use a lighted nock, I get 485 grains for the RIP TKO, and 512 grains for the RIP. Is 22 grains and slightly better FOC worth $105 more per arrow (arrow cost plus having to buy the inserts for the TKO)? I'm thinking when my other bow runs out of RIP TKO, I will switch it over to RIP and use the same arrows for both bows. In 250 spine, I haven't seen the RIP TKOs survive anything that the RIPs don't, and both spin excellently and tune just fine.

      I use the same arrows. I was curious, does having steel inserts make much of a difference when it's something like the HIT where it's fully encased by the arrow? In my head, the arrow's carbon breaks before the aluminum/brass inserts that come with the arrow bend, so is this something I need to think about at all? Especially when the arrow is screwed into the insert to provide some semblance of rigidity

So when he said that he just meant the money you could use to buy a .001 arrow vs a .003 or .006 would be better used on components and broadheads. Do you think the blood line easton 400 spine from 2012 with inserts and blazer vanes were good arrows compared to todays arrows. Cheeper comparison. I have alot of them400 and 480 spine only shooting 55 lb 27 in draw

    Great vid. but subtitles...meh not a fan. Would be cool to break down the durability test a bit finer TBH. a chart perhaps? X-arrow costs this much with these components, (equations) did this well shooting at a steel plate (calculations) vs Y-arrow with these OEM components...etc. IMO, if you're gonna nerd out on a test like this, go balls out! Part 2 please! 🤓

    Im a UK target archer. (For me, Its a sociable hobby) Bow hunting is illegal in the UK.
    Budget matters.
    Most UK target clubs shoot at schools and sports grounds and have no carbon arrow rules.
    At the club. We have a no lost arrow policy. It must be found.
    We shoot at a school, if the school finds an arrow after we have left. we lose the shooting venue, no ifs or buts.
    So our arrow choice is very limited... Aluminum or Carbon Alu only. That basically limits our choice to Easton. Which since the changed to shipping charges are now getting stupid expensive.
    Using 100% carbon arrows would be cheaper but are all but impossible to find when misses happen.

    I feel if your too lazy to tune EVERY SINGLE ARROW and use better or best arrow accessories don’t be whining on the hunt or the range about poor to pathetic arrow flight. You don’t have to spend a lot extra to build a very excellent arrow. Like you don’t have to buy custom ammo for your deer rifle anymore. IMO, the amount of EXTRA? effort one should put into building will pay off in aces. Slow methodical process is the way to go.
