- In this video, I break down the best Cairo neighborhoods to live in as an expat depending on your needs and interests. Egypt can be overwhelming to even the most seasoned traveler, and figuring out where to live in Cairo can feel like looking for a pebble in a ballpit. Each expat moving to Cairo has his or her own concerns, priorities, and needs, so in this video I’ve addressed some of the bigger issues facing expats and recommended neighborhoods in Cairo accordingly. For some, downtown Cairo may be perfect, but others may find comfort in the Fifth Settlement or 6th of October City. I hope the video brings some clarity to Cairo’s urban layout, and let me know if you have any questions in the comments.

Quite informative, many thanks 🙏
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
Best video of cairo
I hope it’s helpful. Thanks for watching:)
Thank you this video has been very helpful❤
So glad to hear it helped! Thanks for watching
MashAllah. Respectfully. 😍
Thank you so much as I thinking about a possible move from the US to Cairo!
I hope the move goes well if you end up doing it! I'll be making more Cairo-related content in the near future, so stay tuned:)
Great vid! I'm currently staying in West El Balad - Abidin, it's awesome, but a bit busy. Will look into the other urban areas you've mentioned. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! Those areas are a little hectic but close to a lot of stuff. You can just hop on the metro to get to Maadi. Enjoy your time in Egypt
Thank you for providing this information, it provided a glimpse into areas of location for expats. Could it be possible in the future to provide visual presentation of the places you mentioned? Like a first hand experience of these places.
Yes for sure. I’m not living in Egypt right now, but in the future I’ll try to as some visuals 👍 glad you found the information helpful.
nice
Nice brother, was great
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed, and I hope it was helpful:)
@RashadGoesOutside was awesome, bro. R u making more on the topic, or was this a one off?
@@rozzziee6525 Thanks for the support. I'm gonna make more videos on the topic but on a different channel specifically related to travel (will have lots about Egypt as it's really needed online). This is mostly for fitness-related content. I'll reply to your comment when that channel is running. Should be in the next few weeks.
@@RashadGoesOutside legend!!!! Good luck, mate
I’m considering retiring in Egypt from California 😊10 yrs to go 😢
@holistikaspa3075 sounds like a great plan! Are you thinking of retiring in Cairo specifically or somewhere else in Egypt? The reason I ask is Cairo can be extremely hectic and may not be the average person's ideal retirement environment. That may be exactly what you're looking for (I don't know you), but I wanted to bring it up to be clear. If you're looking for a more laid back environment, Dahab or somewhere in the Sinai might be good to consider as well. Thanks for watching:)
Great video . Can you do a video talking about the nightlife and areas where young people can meet
That’s a fantastic idea. I’ll definitely do one in the future. Since it’s such a big city it’s a big topic to cover, but it’s valuable. It was difficult to form a network when I first moved. Took a few months.
Thanks for watching!
Can't wait to see @@RashadGoesOutside
Thanks for the video! Just what I needed to see. Our family is looking to relocate for a few years and have been looking at neighbourhoods (Sheikh Zayed City work is close to here) / international schools etc. We have 9 and 12yo kids who love sports. I hope they are able to play football, do gymnastics etc if we were to move there. Any thoughts on this appreciated! Thanks!
Glad the video helped! I would definitely say Sheikh Zayed and Sixth of October are your best optinos. There should be lots of sports clubs in the area where your kids could do football and gymnastics if the schools themselves don't have them. Feel free to email me or dm on instagram @rashad_goes_outside if you have any more questions
I love Downtown, Cairo's City Center
Me too:) lots to do and great energy
To make this work outstanding you have to redo the video with relevant inserts of the areas atleast to give an impression to millions who have never been to Cairo or those who want to know more about the megacity. In a medium for the 'eye', it is always better to give it to the 'eye'.😮😊
@@alburooj7904 This would help but as you can imagine it is not easy taking lots of photos on Cairo's streets because of police issues, especially in Downtown. But yes visuals always help.
@@RashadGoesOutside okay 👍 thanks.
Thank you for the informative video. We want to move from the West with kids in tow inshaa Allaah.
Would love to know your opinion on Rehab and Narges villas area.
Thx
I don't know the Narges Villas area, but Rehab is nice. I knew some people who lived in Rehab and they liked it. It's pretty enclosed, so there are lots of things nearby, and it's not as chaotic as more central parts of Cairo. When I've visited Rehab by car at night, the traffic to get in was pretty bad as there are gates.
It depends on where you work. Like I said in the video, I highly advise you to live close to where you work.
Best area new Cairo and sheikh zayed hi from Egypt ❤
Love Egypt sooooo much...i want die there
It's a great place!
Can you do one for us oldies 😊retirement homes. Preferably on waterfront
Where is the best place ?
I'll hopefully make a video on this topic in the future. I don't know you or where you're coming from/what you're expecting, but Cairo is a pretty hectic place and may not be ideal for retirees. Look to the beach in the meantime. Thanks for your comment:)
Haha! Nice accent! Spent any time in Staten Island?
Lol not yet.
What areas have great walkability?
The term “great” is relative. The only areas that can be considered walkable are Maadi, downtown, and zamalek. Mohandiseen and Dokki to a lesser extent. The desert suburbs are not walkable at all. You need a car, whether your own or Uber, to get around.
I'm an expert from the United States and I live in Alexandria Egypt I recommend living there a lot better than Cairo but have invested in the new capital so that would be my second choice
Yes Alexandria is on the coast ant not close to as big as Cairo.
What do you mean you’ve invested in the new capital?
can you do this but for alex
Unfortunately I don’t know Alex like I know Cairo:(
Where can you find $85 to $100 apartments at do you know any names of apartments and locations also what website is good to search for any good apartments
It might be pretty hard to find them that cheap, but best bet is to join expat groups or non expat groups posting for furnished apartments.
It helps to know people there. People are going to charge more for a foreigner probably.
Your best bet is to find people to split an apartment in downtown or Abdeen or nasr city maybe.
@@RashadGoesOutside oh ok Egypt is not cheap? Are there some for 200 or $300
Yes, but quality of the accomodation ranges a lot. There are lots of Facebook groups in Arabic that have apartments for rent listed. My advice would be to check those out, and if you can't read Arabic, find someone to help you out who can. The ideal scenario is you know someone in Cairo who can find you a place. @@mariabradshaw4289
if your a single guy looking to stay for 6 months and like the thought of being around places to meet some girls where would you recommend?
If you're only there for 6 months and want to be able to socialize, Maadi and Downtown/Zamalek/Garden City would be your best bets.
cool, thanks @@RashadGoesOutside
is it true that if you rent like a 1 bedroom flat or studio or whatever there is a guy guarding the place to make sure theirs no. "immoral behaviour" bewab i think theyre called@@RashadGoesOutside
Maadi is dull.!!! Boring place.
@@tomfitz-tm6tzwhere would you recommend
I was born in el Dokki and left Egypt 60 years ago. Unfortunately I can only speak the language, I can’t read or write because I was educated in Canada. I want to go back to Egypt, Canada is not vary good anymore because of the current liberal government. I just don’t know If I will be able to function because I am illiterate in Arabic and am afraid of being taken advantage of because of my advanced age.
Perhaps you can explain in your next video how much it cost to purchase a condo in New Cairo and Alexandria and Marissa Matrouh?
Thank You.
I am by no means an expert in buying a condo or apartment in Egypt, but I would suggest trying to make contact with some people in Egypt who will be able to help. Having a partner on the ground is the best way to avoid being taken advantage, and being there in person will beat any sort of online searching. New Cairo has lots of apartments/condos available.
Best of luck!
Egypt isn't the same anymore 60 years ago it was a tranquil place.
Now everyone is there, busy poor and corrupted sadly.
How much. How to own property there. Im from Philippines. I just want to ask
Unfortunately I don't know much about buying property as I only rented. I would try to find someone local to Cairo, ideally an Egyptian native, to advise. Also if you can afford it it would help to be on the ground as well for a bit.
What about 6th of October neighbourhood? For a single woman expat?
Should be no problem. If you are going to be working in that area it would be great.
@@RashadGoesOutside thank you. I am still negotiating the salary.
Best of luck@@BlueBlue23
Why do you call yourself as an expat despite you are Egyptian?
Im actually not Egyptian but American.
@@RashadGoesOutside Your face features, your compliction, and the correct Arabic names pronunciation let me believed you are from an Egyptian family.
