    I am a firm believer there must be rotation of the forearms just before impact. It allows you to throw the club head down the line. Using too much extension and flexion causes the club face to open, which is fine if you want to hit a fade.

    Most of the better YT instruction is way above what 95% of the amateurs can benefit from. There’s also a lot of bad YT instruction out there that needs to be avoided. I believe your instruction is what the majority of golfers need. Accurate fundamentals, well explained and demonstrated.

    Thanks for your great material Andrew. It’s coincided with my intent to put more emphasis on my hands and arms to generate club head speed. Previously I was using too much body movement (and not enough hands and arms) in an effort to create speed. You’ve reassured me that I’m going in the right direction and provided some great step by step building blocks. Keep up the good work.

    I started with my arms fully internally rotated and then take my grip. I use the towel wringing feel that keeps my elbows in and avoiding the flying elbows. I find as a older 🏌 golfer it is so much easier for me to do at setup than to try to get in a certain backswing position. Would love to see how this shows up on your wrist data capture in a video

    Thanks about that last part on the release. I have a HM (since a black Friday deal last year) and while I managed to influence flexion/extension pretty quickly, increasing rotation post impact turned out to be nigh impossible thusfar. I just do 90% of my underarm rotation before impact, and forcing my wrists to roll post impact only added max 10 degrees or so, but not improve strike really. HM did help me to take loft off at impact (still have a minute flip if I don't focus) and compress the ball better. I managed to translate the better angle numbers by a feel based 'flat at the top and then keep my left wrist "dead" on the way down, which is already such a bonus that I just gave up on trying a different rotation pattern, it is a relief to see now that it's not completely abnormal... I think what also made me doubt myself that amongst the comparison profiles of HM, only really one (female) tour player displayed the same rotation pattern.

    Can you talk about players that have a cupped wrist at the top ex: Fred Couples, Webb Simpson?

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  2 дні тому

      Robb, those two guys have very different patterns. Couples has a pretty strong grip - lead wrist extends due to internal trail shoulder rotation. He corrects that on the way down. Simpson has a weaker grip, he extends his lead wrist at the top and requires a very fast rate of closure to square up a very open club face! He’s an outlier on tour that’s for sure but it works for him!
      Amateurs are better suited in my opinion limiting their lead wrist extension at the top. In my experience as a coach - An open club face for a weekend warrior is a recipe for disaster for most.

    Got a question with L to L drill. At p8 I’ve seen videos that advocate having right arm and club in straight line. Which is contrary to L to L. I’m 1 handicap so not a hacker just curious what you think about the correct position at p8. Great channel by the way

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  6 місяців тому

      That’s an outstanding question. My research indicates that golfers with a “Flexion/Extension” Release pattern tend to re-hinge later. But it should be noted that they still re-hinge and their lead wrist moves quickly from a flexed to extended position as they do this. This release is better suited to fades.
      While those golfers with more neutral grips that require more of a “Rotational” Release Pattern tend to re-hinge sooner. This release pattern is better suited to draws.
      There will always be exceptions as you know. Method Coaching is not my objective - It never has been! You have to find a release pattern that works best for you. I will however say that in my experience the vast majority of golfers would be well served practicing an L on both sides of their body.
      Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻
      P.S. I’ve attached some pics of DJ and company re-hinging a little later as discussed. (They ALL send their speed somewhere - They do NOT drag the handle!

    Love your posts Andrew but in list in this video. I get the release pattern 1, but not clear on pattern 2 after this video. I was expecting the wrist data from the L to L type release. Maybe I’ve missed something?

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  6 місяців тому +1

      Release Pattern 2 is synonymous with the L to L Drill. It requires less lower body rotation, and more forearm rotation. It’s much easier on the body. It’s been incredible for golfers that have lost speed over time. This pattern is suited to a draw.
      Hack Motion has done a lot of research on wrist mechanics and these are the two predominate release patterns they see. The distinction refers to matching up the release pattern to the grip.
      In my opinion - 80+(%) of golfers lack mobility and would be well suited to release pattern 2. I hope that helps?!
      Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🙏🏻

    • @marklucey1
      @marklucey1 6 місяців тому

      @@AndrewEmeryGolf I think pattern 2 is definitely the one for me. However, I really fear a hook....less body rotation (? body stall) coupled with more wrist/forearm rotation seems like a really good match up for a big hook?

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  2 місяці тому

      Understanding that the way you grip the golf club will of course influence release patterns. For those with neutral grips, I would recommended by (P9) trail arm parallel to ground the club should form a reverse L. Those with very strong grips may delay that for longer!!
      For average golfers the L to L Drill is by far the best drill in golf for learning how to use the leverage system of the arms and wrists!! Get after it!

    I have a lot of confusion with realese of the hands, some pros say that if the hips do not open at time , the hands will collapse, in the L to L exercise, do the hips rotate? What is a good finish for the exercise L to L?

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  4 місяці тому

      Hi JLD, the golf swing isn’t ALL Hands & Arms any more than it’s ALL Body! Having said that, if you focus your attention on the L to L drill you’ll find that your body will start to respond dynamically without paying attention to it!! Your pressure will drift and your pelvis will rotate just like it would if you were tossing a ball.
      Too many swing thoughts will tie you up in knots!! IF you need to work on tightening up your body dynamics I would put it on the back burner and educate your hands and arms first!!!

    Hey Andrew. Good stuff. Was at the range after watching this video and it occurred to me that from the same good top position, one could use both releases, one for a fade and one for a draw. What do you think? 😀🏌️

      Yes sir! The artistry IS and will always be in the hands! Fades and draws are different release patterns which is why educating your hands and arms should always be the first priority.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!
