You mightve already figured this out before my comment but ill say it incase you havent. After you hit someones parry, if you combo, you can basically instantly cancel the swing at any time with no delay into a parry or a dodge. The reason he knew to combo against you when you did the special is actually that he didn't, he knows you are being a bit slow and can safely combo and eat any stamina loss for canceling to parry. Against an aggressive player you could still do this but it would be a waste of stamina at the end of the day. tldr: he can swing like an animal and react to anything you do as you do it, letting the swing fly to beat your slow option or canceling it to defend your fast one

It's so irritating countering somebody's slash and feinting for a oh to then miss because they're just circling around me slashing. Plus I can't change fov in 1st person and I despise 3rd lol.
Held parry works fine in this game, the bigger problem IMO is how counters require no reading at all to be done, because you can just feint your counter to another one. Counters giving you your stamina back while also preventing you from getting hit makes every fight look like these ones. Super tedious battles of endurance. Also kicks are too slow to be useful against good player most of the time. Between infinite countering and shitty kicks, you can't really go for hard reads or anything, it's just like mordhau where the question is, "who will fuck up their stamina management first"
^ 100% agree with the above, but I'd also say that jabs (supposedly your tool for breaking these stalemates by interrupting attacks/combos) feel far too short-ranged and incredibly inconsistent. In case you dont know; jabs essentially took the place of when you'd kick to interrupt an attack in Mordhau (as kicks do not interrupt in Chiv 2 and only break held blocks), but they just end up being super risky and only really getting you 10 damage at most against a good player. They also have very janky hitboxes. What's more, the recovery from a jab is super fast, too fast for a lot of weapons to get a swing in to punish. Not a worthy trade, seeing as they might just block and counter it or just move back like half a foot and render your jab utterly useless. But the worst factor is that you can't feint a counter into a jab, only a riposte or block. So they become EVEN MORE inefficient as you have to lose a huge chunk of stamina in order to pull one off, only to probably get 10 damage in IF your enemy falls for it. I feel making jabs more useful could really reduce the length of these long stalemates seen in the current combat while retaining the overall feeling TB is clearly going for. When it works, this combat looks like a fight and is amazing. At high levels however, you get what you saw in the vid. Stouty you're good at Mordhau where you have to move your mouse fast and feint. Chivalry 2 is completely different with phantoms, you won’t be particularly surprised there, you need to block correctly and follow the weapon by choosing the right non-standard directions of blows. Chambers are a stamina saver, but there is no point in constantly spamming them, dodging is an important detail.
Kinda funny how the last guy beats him with swing manipulation and morphs kinda invalidating previous claims about the combat and then he quits pretending as if the opposite was the case.
What's funny is the comp chiv 2 scene being non-existent (due in part to how janky it looks, including the last guy's spins). My analysis of their scene aged perfectly
Being jank is quite different from being only a battle of endurance. The last guy trounced you with feints and swing manipulation quite quickly. That goes completely against your other claims in the video. I don't think Chiv 2 is all that jank either compared to Mordhau. It is just different. Imo you have not engaged much with the games own mechanics so I am not sure how qualified you really can be to judge how jank the game is in comparison. Of course you are going to think Mordhau is less jank when you are used to Mordhaus jank. @@Stouty
@@XMysticHerox Last guy hit me with insta accels and 180 degree drags, the feints weren't particularly important - how does this go against my claims? With nearing 10k hours in the genre and *insert long list of accolades here* I'm THE most qualified judge out there - hence why I was able to correctly foresee the absolute dead end of the Chiv 2 comp scene within a few hours of touching the game. I'd also guess I'd probably farm you in Chiv 2 having spent more time playing casually
Mordhau has good mechanics, but is pretty much unplayable competitively unless you have 10 ping and love unreadable accels/drags and weird hitboxes. Gave up on Mordhau after playing for 1500+ hours (competitively) due to the game feeling repetitive and no new improvements for combat. Chiv 2 has so much potential and is a great game generally, but after dueling for about 48 hours and understanding the mechanics, I feel like the skill ceiling is reached and the only way to get better is to spam feints and time counters more accurately. I am lvl 30 and often win against 200 lvl players, if it was a game good for competitive play that should almost be impossible. Hate that it either has to be unreadable reds like in Mordhau, or suckin cawk for some extra stam like Chiv.
don't you find chiv 2 still more realistic than mordhau , the feint spamming , weird mechanics and the fact that you can only block for a milisecond makes mordhau seem pretty unrealistic to me , chiv 2 seems like it has less unrealistic bs in it.
Man I wish we could replace the mord devs with the chiv 2 devs. I wonder if the melee genre will ever find the right balance between easy to pick up and hard to master. Mord left me wanting more but Ig that's too much to ask for.
The most frustrating thing is that I can't even tell is Dog best dueler or not, where the fuck is this "skill ceiling" in Chiv 2. I wanted to reach it at first or be near it cuz game was very kind to noobs, but the more I played duels the further this ceiling seemed to be. I git gut, think I am on honorable level in 2handed weapon fight and then some guy takes rapier or damn spear and that's it "5/0 gotta go" Maybe the way to win is to be "dumb and happy" with funny TO maps and not thinking about "personal skill" at all (not to mention that I can't equal playing Chiv to a work day and play 8 hours daily)
@Chieftain Rapier is annoying as fuck but spear is pretty shit tbh. Just counter it a few times, if they fuck up their counters just a few times you can burn their stam.

Id love to see like a ‘arena’ mode in this game like the armored core games.
What is he doing in the fight at 5:08 it looks like an overhead into overhead and his sword just stops mid air, i see ppl do that all the time and i have no idea how
Overheard -> alt overhead. Bind them both.
@@dimoronen well im on ps5 so idk what the equivalent is
@@diceyy9798 Oh, yeah that could be problematic. I assume there is a button bound to "alt attack"?
@@diceyy9798 on console as well, only way I’ve done it is overhead, attack cancel, overheead
really wish instead of "swing manipulation", trying to actually hit your target in the center of your swing (where your attack is strongest), would be way more interesting, which forces your opponent to step into or away from the strike.
This genre of games has the saltiest communities, checks out with how competitive they are though
I'm honestly convinced that some people increased the sensitivity of their turn and look speed because I once caught a dude off guard in a free-for-all no honor game who was busy fighting someone else *and the dude turned around as if he knew I was coming even when I was sneaking my way to them without making any noise whatsoever.*
Maybe he had shadows on
third person also helps.
8:53 AHAHAH NO WAY YOU SAID THAT WHEN YOU PICKED UP THE CHAIR
ttd
The comp on this game sucks 😩😩😩
How many mouse space have guys to make 360?
doug. doug.
I love that witcher 1 soundtrack
On a sad note, the Rhodok Bonk only works sometimes and not all the time.
Hey bro you are a great warrior!!
Stouty this is my first comment on your channel you should feel honored
none of these tactics would work in the 32v32 battles
Kinda funny how the last guy beats him with swing manipulation and morphs kinda invalidating previous claims about the combat and then he quits pretending as if the opposite was the case.
What's funny is the comp chiv 2 scene being non-existent (due in part to how janky it looks, including the last guy's spins). My analysis of their scene aged perfectly
Thats not an argument in support of anything you said here. @@Stouty
@@XMysticHerox I've always said the chiv 2 combat was complete jank at top level, the last duel is no exception. Hence why I didn't grind it
Being jank is quite different from being only a battle of endurance.
2:21 WTF LMAO how did h e do that?
@@hunterthompson6737 yeah it does feel more realistic for sure
That was a lot fun to watch ngl
When are we gonna have some more info on contingent?
No date to give I'm afraid
those the witcher 1 soundtracks 😊
when will you post an update on your new game?
when there's gameplay ready to show I'll be non-stop talking about it
@@Stouty can’t wait :)
What game is that? :o
@@Sulamanjansulttaani contingentgame.com/faq/
I'm glad they appeal to casuals. Duels are fun as fuck for a mid level player
Still a better experience than mordhau imo
Man I wish we could replace the mord devs with the chiv 2 devs. I wonder if the melee genre will ever find the right balance between easy to pick up and hard to master. Mord left me wanting more but Ig that's too much to ask for.
Mord devs seemed competent at release too, after a few updates they went full dogshit though.
its literally warband
after so many hours on mord i feel like ill never master these mechs lol
The most frustrating thing is that I can't even tell is Dog best dueler or not, where the fuck is this "skill ceiling" in Chiv 2. I wanted to reach it at first or be near it cuz game was very kind to noobs, but the more I played duels the further this ceiling seemed to be. I git gut, think I am on honorable level in 2handed weapon fight and then some guy takes rapier or damn spear and that's it "5/0 gotta go"
Maybe the way to win is to be "dumb and happy" with funny TO maps and not thinking about "personal skill" at all (not to mention that I can't equal playing Chiv to a work day and play 8 hours daily)
I heard he's like top 10
@Chieftain Rapier is annoying as fuck but spear is pretty shit tbh. Just counter it a few times, if they fuck up their counters just a few times you can burn their stam.
Homer is the best eu duelist. He's a lot better than anybody else.
@@Dobyvatel2 If we were to take the difference in skill between me and stouty, that would be the same difference in skill between me and homer. I'm probably somewhere in the Top 30 atm
MORE DRAGS KICKS AND JABS! You wont get anywhere trying to play the stamina game.
4:25 LMAO
this looks so fucking bad compared to mordhau
I am praying peeing and pooping for
mordhau patchie soon so I don't have to see chiv 2 in my recommended. I burned out after 300 hours personally
mordhau patch will be 1 map not really worth looking forward to
@@Stouty and more cosmetics!!1!
@@Stouty Im just hoping for the scimitar nerf + possibly woman moment
@@Remixersoloman paid dlc cosmetics*
@@Stouty woman moment has arrived get farmed stoutt now weddings don't have to be gay
maybe its not perfect... but its waaay better than mordhau drag&animation abuse nosense!
i feel it just need more people get used to it... as tourney proved that there can be consistent winners that master this combat system
plenty of dragging and anim abuse in this game - dragging can be used to throw off counter timings and drain the stamina of the held block
@@Stouty yeah... i see its a problem... but still less dramatic than mordhau ! anyway i menage it with distancing and dodges... if you value the full options ... there s always a way to counter any abuse!
stab counter and feint back to stab
The parry hitbox too big imo
Man you gotta play 3rd to spin and turn fasr
i feel like ill hate this game if i tried it. holding block and the level of endurance through out the whole fight just seem frustrating. why cant a combat game make it so you hold right click and can physically raise a sword in the direction you look? not an animation but as a real physical thing that the opponents sword can hit... idk just sounds like a cool idea for a fighting game .
Take out hold parry, its so dumb.
love the witcher 1 music
the sound design is so embarrassing lmfao. why are we fighting with pots and pans
Oh man you still look so green at this haha love you stouty keep practicing! We should run one sometime I’ll teach you how to 360 in 1st person :)
lmfao stoutys mad he cant abuse broken mordhau mechanics 💀
how's that chiv 2 comp scene coming along? LOL
Have you heard of a game called Mordhau?
You guys think things could be easier if you couldn't hold your guard up? I feel like taking away the chance to hold it when the strikes may come is one of the main factors of no one ever god damn dying
Mordhau moment...
almost like this game has inferior combat to mordhau :3
Yep, chiv is much better for casual TO games though
As a former mordhau player:
Good combat doesnt even out how inaccesible it is to new players.
Thats why its dying. With betters devs mordhau would be a paradise
@@Dr.Bluberry skill issue lul
@@rayji6501 well yeah, thats the point, new players have hard time getting better cuz they get rolled all the time
Thanks for making an example outta yourself you tool
I had a sword as a child that played recorded sword swing sounds back in 2004 that sounded better than this.
This game looks so much better than Mordhau. Kinda I could play it…
This just makes me wanna play mordhau more... too bad its dead
then why did you do it..........
