  • In this episode we start the disassembly and discovery phase in preparation for a new camshaft. We are going to install the Anderson B31HR camshaft for this build. The cam in not super aggressive which will be perfect for the modifications we have planned and it will be super street friendly for everyday driving. We use the AFM Tappet tools for the installation. Links to the parts used below.

    Nice work. There’s something about working on a nice and clean HCI modded fox mustang. Been a while but I had my old ‘91 tuned by Rick A back in the day at AFM. Glad to see you continuing the passion!

    The TF stage 2 is the same as your old B4 cam, which is damn close to the B41hr cam. Except for the added lift and couple degrees of duration. It's like the TF stage 2/B4 cam with 1.7 rockers.
    So why step down to the B31hr? It doesn't really seem like an improvement... unless the ramp rates on the TF2 are slower?

      B41HR will not clear stock pistons, the B31HR will clear stock pistons, has proper ramp profile for high revving and not beat up the stock valvetrain.

    What specific heads and cam do you have on that?

    I have a N41cam on my vortech v3 with hci. I dyno at 494 wrhp and 436 wrtq. Do you think if I swap to a B31 cam, would it pick more hp and tq than with my n41?

      Go B41. The difference between the N and B cams is the LSA. N cams are 110, b cams are 112. You should build more boost with 112las

    I thought the B series were blower cams? This car is N/A. I have an N-41 in my car and I love it.
