I have seen trucks get pulled into the water there from the seaweed make no traction. The guy actually slammed the door and caused the wheels to break loose. He jumped on the door and went in with the truck. It sunk until just the tip of the antenna was 2 inches above the water.
It's amazing to me that at a busy ramp like this, people just take their time getting themselves and their shit off the boat, then casually stroll to the truck/ trailer. I would avoid this ramp like the plague.
I mean even if the ramp is busy I’m not going to rush like an insane person. Especially when unloading kids. Everyone needs to be patient. Or pay for a better spot. lol.
@@rebeccakeenan8101 aside from an emergency it shouldn’t ever take more than 5-8 minutes tops to launch or retrieve from the ramp. If you’re launching your boat it needs to be loaded with all your stuff before you ever get close to the ramp. Loading and unloading items at the ramp is like leaving your car at the gas pump while you go in to eat. There’s no reason whatsoever to do it short of just being a miserable ass.
It's like a busy gas station with all the pumps taken and a line formed. Then assholes go inside to grab a candy bar and leave their car sitting there at the pump.

Aussie here, we just have fun when boating, also plenty of private clubs with ramps and security parking quite cheap, mine was $240 a year, never waited once..., reckon ol mate with the straw hat could take on grumpy baldie quite easily :)
The best way to moor a rescued boat is to tie it up alongside, operate as one unit and moor it as if you just have a wide single boat. Works like a charm.

That's why some harbors and docks have a strict "DO NOT FEED" policy. It kinda unnerves me that in one of Alfred's videos, tourists at the dock to the left (by the cold weather storage spot) kept throwing food in just to get pictures of Fred and one foolish mom let her 10 year old kids walk along the bottom of the dock. Fred could EASILY have grabbed them by the leg. They have no idea how lucky they are that he's a pretty chill and laid back animal and tolerates sharing the dock with all those boats....
It's what happens when you alcohol on board. I used to be a marine enforcement officer and it's amazing the disrespect and egos between boaters, especially different classes. For example, the wake boats would mouth off to the fishing boats and vice versa. We only ran single officer boats and trying to solve a situation while watching your drift and the other boats drifts was insane.
I am sure you've seen, and dealt with many more sever and varying incidents than some other Law Enforcement Officer have ever seen. It's a whole different world on the waters.

Where I live we have hugely wide boat launches with no docks. There is one small dock far away where you drop your boat/trailer driver off. After you drop your driver you drive back out into the bay and wait for your trailer to be positioned. When your trailer is set its your turn to go. Everybody stays in the boat until you are in the rigging area. There are 8 lanes and it moves like clock work after you are trailered you drive off to the rigging area. No Fuss, No Muss, No arguments....Best set up ever!
I am an avid sailor and boater. I have been my whole life and I hope to do it as long as I physically can. I love the boating community. Most of them that is. For any of us privileged enough to be on the water we should show our gratitude by being gracious. How terrible to have to wait a couple of minutes on a fine boat with beautiful family and friends. If you are fortunate be kind. Always.
That's all well and good until alcohol gets added to the equation. Then everything goes out the window. I learnt very early on in my boating escapades, boating and alcohol do not mix.

Years ago I worked for FWC/Sea Grant and had to inspect boat ramps on weekends for usage. It convinced me that I never want a trailer boat and depend on ramps.
You read my mind exactly . Up here in north central fl you have about 5 min to unload or load just the boat before you start getting a heckling , the only time the trailer and tow vehicle are on the ramp is to launch or load the boat and the dock is only for people getting on or off ,load or unload all your boat crap in the parking lot Out of the way !!!!

Where I live we have hugely wide boat launches with no docks. There is one small dock far away where you drop your boat/trailer driver off. After you drop your driver you drive back out into the bay and wait for your trailer to be positioned. When your trailer is set its your turn to go. Everybody stays in the boat until you are in the rigging area. There are 8 lanes and it moves like clock work after you are trailered you drive off to the rigging area. No Fuss, No Muss, No arguments....Best set up ever!

Love your video's Alfred , docking against the tide , no ropes ready and my favorite .. crashing into a couple boats , the dock and then everyone has to get dressed , feed the kids , back the soccer mom mini van deep enough to watch the tail pipe gurgling under water before some with a truck yanks em out .. average time seems to be anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours ... Years ago I worked for FWC/Sea Grant and had to inspect boat ramps on weekends for usage. It convinced me that I never want a trailer boat and depend on ramps.

Up here in north central fl you have about 5 min to unload or load just the boat before you start getting a heckling , the only time the trailer and tow vehicle are on the ramp is to launch or load the boat and the dock is only for people getting on or off ,load or unload all your boat crap in the parking lot Out of the way !!!!
