- Winter is Coming, for some Winter is here already. It's very simple, if you have a court date, go to court. Have your say in court, not with me at the time of eviction.

I love this show!! He said “you gonna come out this house” 😭😭😭 although I’ve been through this as a kid for sure. We’ve been without food many days, family running from eviction, now that I’m an adult I make sure to never follow in those steps, kids got plenty of food and our bills paid! So thankful!!!Poor things.
I make sure all my bills paid (rent, utilities, cable, food in the house, money in bank) before I go out partying
@@BluePhoenix2013 I make sure all my bills paid before I decide to go buy a mcdonald's cheeseburger..if I got $6 to buy a couple cheeseburgers I got $6 to put towards the bills.
@@BluePhoenix2013 lol you still go to party’s ?! 😂🤣🤦🏽♂️grow up
@@BluePhoenix2013 I know what you mean. You prioritize and pay your expenses & pay for necessities before you spend money on entertainment...That's definitely grown folk behavior. 😉
What bothers me the most is the men that's seems to be in the background a lot an not saying all the time!!!
My family was evicted when I was a kid and I was so embarrassed. We had nowhere to go and our stuff was on the street. We were on section 8, food stamps and my mom received social security but there wasn’t much money and we were always living hand to mouth. We were broke as hell and I remember living without water, lights, heat and a phone. I remember the neighbors allowing us to cook at their house so we could use their stove because we didn’t have electricity. We sometimes lived on sandwiches and anything that we could keep cool in an ice chest. I also remember catching rain in buckets because the landlord wouldn’t fix anything. My family went through it when I was a kid and one thing that stuck with me was when my mom told me to stay in school and to get an education. Both parents died when I was in high school and I was able to stay in section 8 housing until I could find a job. I graduated college and now make 6 figures but I never forget where I came from and don’t take anything for granted.
Blessing❤❤❤

What an unfortunate, but incredible, heart-stirring…success story!
You’re awesome 😊
This touched my soul
Us almost getting evicted was the beginning of the end of my marriage. I was working a job, going to school and driving Uber on the side to keep a roof over our heads while my ex was nonchalant about paying our rent and bills on time. He was blocking my blessings. Once he left, things significantly improved. Now I’m a homeowner.
Proud of you!!

For some people, that is a life philosophy.
I couldn’t have said this better!!!
I just think she didn't know what she was doing and was going up against people who did know what they were doing. This was very sad and despite her input into this situation if a person doesn't feel some pity for the crying woman that person is not human.
No accountability. This is her fault. Quit crying.
Only the Lord knows how bad I don’t want to get up for work most days, but things like this are what motivates me to keep going.

For any tenant that’s watching this. Yes I am a landlord and I want to let you know this. You have rights as a tenant too. If for any reason you are paying your landlord and the landlord is letting the house go and there are issues that’s effecting your living. Don’t just use that as a reason to stop paying rent. File something in court, so you can have your rent held in court until the issues are fix. If you choose to not do it the right way you can possibly get in this situation.
U know damn well these people just don’t pay lol they actually think they are owed to just sit free!!! They don’t pay rent for months and then say oh I didn’t get no paper lol girl u know u didny pay! What? Did u think they would just let YOU stay free
@@averyshenandoah1637 who are you talking to I don’t follow. I’m a property manager, I have rental properties. Carry on.
@@FosterFamilyy I believe they were saying that majority of tenants just don't pay or don't want to pay and then use excuses such as issues in the house and or claim that they never received any paper work about non-payment.
@@Erock1985x ok thank you
@@Erock1985xproblem is you can clearly see in the video and MANY videos on this channel that some of these properties are absolutely not being managed and had it been reported the courts could have decided in the tenants favor because the landlord does have rules they have to follow.
I know it’s hard to believe but some landlords go out of their way to rent to high risk tenants because they know they can pocket the rent money and won’t be held accountable for the properties upkeep like they’re supposed to so the advice being given is very good. People think just because they’re poor they have to put up with whatever, not the case. Landlords have responsibilities just like the tenants do but in a lot of cases slumlords use low income tenants as a way to get around the law because they know the tenants have nowhere else to go and aren’t going to jeopardize their situation by speaking up like a tenant with decent credit would.
She said “something told me not to go to work today”. 😂 That’s what started this mess lady.
Exactly
And correct...nothing in life worth having is FREE...I am still trying to understand the nonsense of entitlement
That was a good one 😂
Right?! Lol
And then yelling mad at the kids.
I was diagnosed with cancer during COVID. I couldn’t work for 7 months as I was going through my chemotherapy and radiation treatments. My parents always taught me to save for a rainy day. Because of my parent’s guidance I was able to continue paying all my bills from my savings. I wasn’t even sure if I would survive but that’s not the bank’s or anyone’s fault - my debtees never even knew I was sick. If I could pay my bills while battling cancer/chemo these and many other strong healthy people have no excuse not to work.
I thank my God I made it. I’m back to work and continue to save just as I was taught, no excuses! I watch this and realize how lucky I am to have been taught good life skills 😍

I always told my husband, pay our mortgage first.... we can live in the house with out ... electricity but we need a roof over our head
That's how I did it when I rented. Let's say I hit $1000 for rent first, THEN I can "splurge" on extra stuff. I was so damn disciplined about it and it worked for me during COVId. Late 2021 when the courts were opened and a tenant cannot use COVID as an excuse due to the city stopping no evictions, almost half of my building were evicted. Sometimes it is a surprise to one or other of the partners. We did not use to have good eviction laws. My husband had not been paying rent and I did not know it. Found out later. He was working a good job too there was no excuse. I had four babies but he didn't care he knew he was going to be leaving soon. I didn't know it. Someone has to be the adult and it's a shame that she doesn't handle the finances
So, if she wasn't articulate, she would deserve to be evicted?
She has to be because she's had to raise herself. You see this as quite common. Notice the black male as big as he is, just sitting in the back. This is the cultural problem in the black community.
She deserves better adults in her life.
I'm not the most responsible with money. I'm 30, work 2 jobs. So I'm good at making money just not good managing it. These videos help me "grow up". Anyone can tell you to save, and it doesn't work to hear it. But to see what happens when you don't save, is what really helps you understand. Thank you for these videos.
The fact that you know you’re not good with managing money is the first step. Save and invest wisely. Make your money make money and you’ll be ok!

As a landlord who's been thru evictions, I can tell you that 99% of us hate evictions & problems are resolvable except when tenant refused to work with us, thats when eviction is executed. No surprises. Most tenants behave differently off camera. Priority misplaced most times; spends money on car, excess food, gadgets, furniture, electronics etc Calling code enforcement to avoid paying rent etc. I have good tenants that I'm always willing to work with even if they're unable to pay rent for months. As a landlord of 16 years, I stopped "working" with tenants when I realized THEIR definition of working with me was seeing how long they can pay as little as possible as infrequently as possible. It took me the first 2-3 years of letting properties to realize that. Afterward, I had a protocol for late rent. A late fee was assessed, and five days later, a "pay rent or quit" letter was sent out. Ten days after that, I mailed my eviction forms to the court, and it was out of my hands at that point.

Lord I do feel so sad for this lady. It breaks my heart to see anyone getting evicted, regardless of the reason. But what I found strange is when she said “Something told me not to go to work,” what a dichotomy. When I am sick and don’t feel like going to work, something tells me to get up and get my rear in gear, because my rent, energy, car payment, insurance ,cable, food and gas bills are all due. 🤷🏽♀️😢
@Lisa Boglin I was thinking the exact same thing. Apparently she probably calls off work a lot. I'm like you, I'm going to work sick or not if I know I have bills to pay. When she got that notice she should've gone to court to try and work out some arrangements.
I giggled when I heard that fool make such a dumb statement as "something told me not to go to work today". I'll wager that she has a lot of those "call-in sick days" & that's probably why you're behind in your rent & can't catch up. Dah. Perhaps you'd do better to spend more time telling your ASS to go to work rather than the opposite. I can not feel any measure of sympathy for such people.
I don't feel sad for irresponsible people who blame others instead of taking responsibility.

The lucky part of it was, the court officer noticed my relative. They knew one another from 55 years ago as kids. Dude was real cool with the judge. Took the paperwork up to him. Short story? Had the money, took it down to the Rental Office...and dodged a bullet. I own and pay mortgage now in the country... and from that day on almost 10 years ago, I do MY BEST to never to be in that situation again. That's a Fd up feeling. Dang..

This gives a new meaning to “being put out in the cold” because that woman was evicted during the winter. What made me angry was that she didn’t think about the kids, and chose to not pay rent because no repairs were done. There were probably no complaints from her about the house until she fell behind in rent to have a reason not to pay. @@pipdragon8229 yup and that’s exactly how they get kicked out. It doesn’t matter if things aren’t fixed or not. The rent is due and if a person don’t like the situation. This is why it's so important for people to really read the lease when renting. Almost all leases have a waive notice of default clause in them, meaning they waive the right to be notified if they don't pay their rent. Even provided an old washer and dryer for her. Let me tell you that was not a profitable year for her. If she takes lick after lick like that, she is gonna be broke.

My parents lived rent free in a house for 7 years. No one knocked on the door but the house flooded and my parents expected them to rebuild for them, of course they didn’t and tore house down but I witnessed how ungrateful my mother was when she started ripping off cabinet doors and kicking holes in bedroom doors. I was so embarrassed I apologized to the kind people who graciously let them stay that long and I had to leave as I’d seen this my whole life 😞
Sound like squatters to me, lol. Yep, that flood was needed, lol. Welp at least there no fatalities.

Mr. Othniel, I like the way you handle the situations. You treat the ppl nicely. You stay calm, and you explain to them what they have to do, and what you have to do. You don't treat them/ talk down to them. I've seen shows where ppl are getting put out, and the ppl that are putting them out, be laughing and talking about them in their face. They usually gets several notices and they have to sign for them so that the landlord knows they received it
I could never do what he does, I couldn't put a family on the street days before Christmas. I just don't have it in me.

True. I've seen other eviction videos where they are laughing at their misery of being evicted
When i had to evict a single mom with small kids [ the agreement was for her to stay a year, rent free, but pay her utilities] 3 months before the year was up, i sent her a certified letter as a reminder of the expiration date coming up. As you would guess, she didn't want to leave! Soooooo, I got a truck, hired some guys, went into the home while she was gone, loaded up the truck, changed the locks, took her stuff to a storage unit, paid it for ONE month [put it in her name] and went on about my business 😂

Evictions, foreclosures, repossessions are all the direct result of one not paying. If you cannot pay, move out, make other arrangements, move on with your life. Get real.
The ones with the children and animals are heart breaking!
Yes, it is heartbreaking to not pay your rent if you have children & animals!
Yes
@@FromSagansStardust they meant their heart breaks for the kids and the animals bc they are innocent. They depend on others to survive so it’s unfair to them when this happens.
If u don't have your s*** together, don't bring other lives into your mess. That's SO selfish and unfair. U had to know the eviction was coming if you hadn't paid the rent in a while, so the excuse of "I didn't know, I didn't get a notice" is BS

The sob stories they tried to go into court with were ridiculous. When I came over to collect rent, they looked at me like I was crazy. Good thing we have cell phones/ cameras today to record tenants and how they act out of court.

December evictions or BG&E (Baltimore gas and electric) turnoffs don't happen in Maryland during the winter months

Been down this road once when I was a kid and it sucked so bad 😔. I told myself never again. The day I have kids of my own I wouldn't dream of exposing them to this type of humiliation. It's not like my parents were struggling. They were hardworking people. My dad just made wrong choices that cost us our home. I never forgotten that morning but I forgave him overtime because he's my dad and he was always there for my mom and I to make sure we were taken care of.
Thank you for showing the tenets some humanity, grace and dignity. You are top notch in my eyes.
I've worked in this field for many moons and I don't feel bad because over 90% of people facing eviction put themselves in that position. They don't save and don't spend money wisely, don't want to work or are picky with the jobs they take, don't plan for their future, don't look for better opportunities and think the world owes them something, and have all the children they please from broken homes.
Why is taking all them pics really
You said it.
Facts 💯
Well I’ll always feel bad for the children. They have no fault in this
Know it's a old comment but I'll ask anyway. You ever have people who were genuine? Like someone who was trying to do right, but just couldn't get a break? A family that you actually felt like they should be given a break?
Why do you need a warning? You should already know if you don't pay you can't stay.
You do a great job! Nonconfrontational but persistent. Never seems to lose your cool. You handle this heartbreaking job as well as it can be handled.
It kills me when “noone wants to fix nothing” yet they keep staying and not moving on
Maybe they can't afford to move anywhere else?
😂😂😂
Do explain? First off..they're most likely renting from a slumlord because they don't have the money to rent a better maintained home..unfortunately if they had more money THEY WOULD MOVE..plus this landlord doesn't give two shits to maintain the home and if the tenants could afford maintenance on their own THEYD OWN THIER OWN HOME 🙄
It is possible they have no where to go and cannot afford to move. I live in NYC where I pay $1330 a month for rent in a mice infested building. I had to harass the management for them to close up the holes in my apartment. I hardly cook in the kitchen even after the issue was supposedly fixed because Im scared of seeing another mice--if they are still in here. I would love to leave this place. Most of my neighbors sit at home all day and several of them are convicted felons. But it will cost me upward of $6,000 to move to another place, meanwhile I don't know what problem I could potentially be walking into after the fact. And it's not even that I don't have the money because I do. I just see no point in wasting all that money when at the end of the day I'll just be renting another apartment.
Cause it’s not always easy to find a place? I lived in a hotel for nearly two years because we just couldn’t find a place we qualified for or could afford.
I like how cordial you are with them, even though they are in the wrong. Please continue to make videos. I love these.
Sadly, folks don't the importance of thr court system.
You have to go to court to defend yourself.

Evictions don’t happen over night. There’s more than enough time for someone to pack, save, find a new place, and move…. But for whatever reason most will live rent free until they are dragged out all surprised. 🥴
It's sad that she let it come to this, she knew she was behind on rent but chose not to go back to her second court date.
Guarantee there was a return to court date in the paperwork she received the day she went to court. You always have a return to court date.
If the landlord don't want to fix nothing, a lot of times to me that's the landlord telling you to leave without actually telling you
That's why you put their money into escrow, and the court forces them to fix issues... it's called slumlord no one should live in an unsafe environment where they're living. And if the landlord wants his/her property back, then go through the proper channels of noticed!
The first bill you pay is Mortgage/Rent. You can do without everything else. A roof over your head is key.
Also, a lot of people don’t know they can get a mortgage for as little as 1% down. Way cheaper than a deposit. Also the mortgage usually is cheaper than rent by a lot.
How is the 1% down?

Everybody falls on hard times , but people you gotta keep the landlord informed and don't ignore those letters expecting it all to go Away
Usually in some cases landlords will happily work with a person if they have a good record of paying rent on time & are good ppl

Well these people are not.

Just a lifelong tip: TRUST BUT VERIFY. When it becomes legal, if it isn’t in writing, it didn’t happen. Also, every county courthouse has the ability to track the status of every case online, so the whole “I didn’t get no notice” is not an issue anymore. I’ve had a situation where the paperwork was filed w/the court, and I didn’t get the mail until 3 wks later……

"Somethin told me not to go to work!" Girl, sounds like that inner voice is what got you into this situation to begin with.
This is so embarrassing, but these people know if you don’t pay rent this day will come.
Fact💯 you know it’s coming. Notice or not
I live in Florida and it is legal to not pay rent if the landlord does not have the property up to code, however, they do tell you that the landlord will find out that you've complained and may retaliate and evict you. You also have to put the rent money in an escrow account at the court house during that time that you are waiting to get repairs done. It's a messed up situation, I was in a situation like this. I mean the place was run down. But I had to make a decision, either live outside, or save as much as I can to get a better place and just suck it up for the time being. I mean I had a SLUMLORD! Good Gawd! Mold everywhere, brown water coming out of the faucets, etc. Someone you have to make difficult decisions to have somewhere to live, especially if you have children. I get it that everyone doesn't have good credit or great income to move somewhere nice, but work on it is all that I can say. Because once you get that eviction, now it's really going to be hard to move somewhere, no one wants a tenant who's been evicted. If I get a notice and know they are trying to evict me, I'd rather move out and sleep in my car before I get an eviction on my record. I feel bad for these ppl, because I do know that it is possible to be served and you not know it. Here in Florida, or at least where I live, who ever answers that door and accepts that paper, you are considered served! So if they don't give it to you, throw it away or whatever, oh well. I told my grandma to stop accepting anything that comes to her house for me. Because she gives me my mail maybe once a month and sometimes accidentally throws it away. And she doesn't know what she's accepting. And I don't even live there. But once it's in her hands or anyone that accepts it, "I'VE BEEN SERVED"! Smh!
I'm so proud of you. You're professional, kind, yet straight to the problem. They need more workers like you.😁
We're all one step from being in the same situation. It can help any of us. Whether you rent or own your home.
