Vincent Price was a great dramatic actor, and in a very long career, he featured in countless movies playing a flamboyant, erudite and eccentric character. He was a scene stealer in so many films because of his haunting Shakespearean deep and seductive voice as well as his plethora of facial expressions, ranging from stern to false sincerity. In many respects, Vincent Price was extremely comfortable in historical costume drama films, playing the cad and in modern drama, playing the suave and chilling villain. He was not only brilliant in the epic biblical film: The Ten Commandments - playing the callous and odious Baka, the slave overseer, but these same talents of portraying a figure of terror, were also used to petrify audiences to great effect when he was cast as the religious zealot, Matthew Hopkins, in the film: Witchfinder General.
