These american chatshows are so lame
02:47 I don't think Vincent's oeuvre was ever in competition with something like The Exorcist though. Even so, he was able to portray existential terror and dread just as effectively. Eg Prince Prospero in Corman's Masque of The Red Death, or as The Last Man On Earth, even as Matthew Hopkins in Witchfinder General, he was demonic to the core. Truth is stranger - and often more terrifying - than fiction.
I have to say I never liked the sound of Johnny Carson's voice, Or HIm. I just could not take to him. Vincent Price was such a Beautiful soul , A Real Gentleman and outstanding actor. R.I.P. Vincent. Forever loved XXXXX

As a college student in the early 1970s, I worked a part-time job in sales at Paragon Sporting Goods in Greenwich Village, NYC, when Tony Perkins and his mom entered the store to shop. He was a very kind, charming, and humble man with a good sense of humor.
Grande appassionato intenditore d'arte era Vincent Price in generale.
How King Don is supporting a young artist is beautiful to see.
Heeeeeeeres Johnny!
The most awesome 80s commercial!
Loved price in Laura.
That Pierre Prins value didn’t age well. Impressionist paintings, which aren't Monet or Victoire, lost favor in most art circles. Now, it appears the abstract tends to pull the most money.
Loved Vincent Price in Dr. Phibes.
Class acts
I that Joan Rivers on the show ?
Sure was, she was a regular on Carson until she got her own show. Then he shunned her for leaving/competing with him.
Price was the personification of class
All wonderful legends.
Vincent Price had that knack for being sinister. The film they are discussing - "Madhouse" - isn't too good. Only Vincent Price and Peter Cushing make it worth the effort.
Stop interrupting him!
Stop dreaming 😂
I have the distinct impression the audience knew nothing about Vincent 😮
Quanto mi mancano attori di questo calibro!
Unknown to most of VPs fans he was a talent deeply into art and culinary routines. Fyi. 🖌️🖼️🎨👨🍳🥧
She was so lovely!!! She and Dave had such a great chemistry!!! I'm trying to find her last appearance on his show when she had MS. Such a sweet show.
I never can get enough of Vincent. He was a great actor, art coniconnoisseur and a master chef. He was a complete master of many genre. He would donate his art collection to a university to foster art appreciation. I love Vincent in every way. We miss you and your best friends Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. May they carry on that friendship across the Veil.
Bill Hader's SNL bits as Vincent suffering a host of celebrity fools is priceless. ua-cam.com/video/gbiLanj8EuI/v-deo.htmlsi=znvBgLk3eE2KFhGP
@@4tarsusSNL is a load of shite! If it’s not Price then it’s nothing!!!!
What a cool interview with a total legend.
Madhouse film mentioned here was the film which starred Britain's answer to Johnny Carson in the 1970s, Michael Parkinson, a famous talk show host in Britain. He appeared as an interviewer and so beat Johnny Carson in appearing in a movie with the great Vincent Price.
I always adored Vincent Price as a person and an actor! He seemed to be a very kind gentleman to me!
What a great guest.
Letterman's interviews were littered with excessive smalltalk, bad jokes and awkward comments
@1:10 - I will never "forgive" Johnny for how he treated Joan when she started her own show on Fox in late 80s. Whatever his talent, he was a pompous self-centered jerk.
And drunk
Agree
Agreed
Could you elaborate please? I’m not familiar with this.
You're wrong. It was a matter of simple courtesy and Joan had none. She willingly did not call Carson when she got the Fox offer, which was a major insult to Carson after all he had done for her and her career. Carson was someone who could be your best friend, but if you crossed him, he was finished with you. Rivers herself admitted what a mistake she had made.
Amazing Gentleman. I Met Him Years Ago. God Bless 💗🙏
Nothing was forced, Johnny listened and learned from Vincent, and Vincent, who knows his stuff about art, was so casual, not condescending at all, the conversation was smooth and interesting.
Modern art was used as a money laundering deal. Most “modern art” is just crap.
There will never be another like him, ever.
Shame Johnny loves the sound of his own voice... Vincent has a unique voice
if you watch with some care you'll notice every time Johnny reaches to his left for a cigarette the camera changes to the guest
A classic example of bad talk show interviewing: ask a question, don't wait for the answer, ask another question, don't wait for the answer, ask another question, etc etc.
well Carson only did it for thirty years. Please enlighten us with your professional broadcast experience.
You are ridiculous…Johnny was the King of late night. The current idiots like Colbert and Fallon and Kimmel are pathetic.
The master of horror.
I loved Anthony Perkins. He was a Great actor. I am a gay man and grateful I am still here. Ryan r
I liked Carson, but he talks too much here. He keeps interrupting Vincent Price.
He seemed a bit nervous or intimidated by Vincent Price.
@@shadesofgray5476 Perhaps also exxited to have such a distinguished legend of the screen on.
By coincidence May 17 is one of my sisters' birthday.
I met Vincent Price at Queens College after his show, Diversions and Delights, in which he played Oscar Wilde. I didn't get his autograph, because he didn't have time for them. But I shook hands with him and told him he put on a good performance, as usual. He was a resl gentleman and thanked every one for coming to see his performance. May he R.I.P.
Saw him in the North End of Boston in the fall of 1985. Just staring at this very handsome well-dressed man, holding court with about eight ladies who were surrounding him, trying to figure out who he was. Then it dawned on one of my friends who it was and we were tempted to cross Hanover and just say "hey Vince Price!", but from the looks of those women we knew he was trapped 😄 they weren't going to share him. He was smiling and they were laughing. The very definition of a charming gentleman.
Excellent interview.
She did Bally's fitness center ads in California at the same time. I assume they were owned by the same company. Oh, and Sheena Easton is still fantastic in her shows!
Not keen on Letterman he was no Johnny Carson or Michael Parkinson in England. Parking's was a good actor and he did well during this interview 👏 such a shame he died young .
#Perkins
I didn't realize that Vincent Price was such a tall man. He towers over everybody else on the stage.
6'3-6'4 at his peak, Christopher Lee was about an inch taller.
He was 6’4”
He was undoubtedly a very tall man.
Vincent Price a classy actor a gentleman who is sadly missed . Towards the end of his life he did a wonderful film with Bette Davis called The Whales of August it's a gem of a film 🎥
Hard to believe he would be dead in two years.
Vincent was hilarious on The Hollywood Squares!
He was great in The Song of Bernadette.
The guy was great in anything he was in.
Saw Vincent Price at East Carolina University in the early 70's and besides being an engaging speaker--mentioning how Ava Gardner (and her rather generous breasts) was discovered by hanging up tobacco leaves--he spoke with students backstage afterward. He was very approachable and affable.
