    I saw Shane in Chess-such a natural, gifted artist. I’d love it if you two posted additional videos showing his vocal development over time.

    Hi, Jeff! The vocal exercises and Shane's performance of the song at the end was fantastic! Thank you for being such an excellent example of a contemporary vocal coach who uses classical based techniques to achieve such wonderful results in your students.

      @@JeffAlaniStanfill Hi, Jeff. Yes, I am definitely a subscriber to your channel. I have successfully been using your exercises on my own voice as well as with my students. Not only do they work well in young singers, but also as a "mature" professional tenor, my voice has grown and greatly benefited from including some these exercises in my warm ups.

    Great Video combining warmup with song. I was feeling happy keeping up with the warmup of a tenor. Then out of the blue, he nails that G5, and thereafter I listened humbly to his magnificent rendition. I would like to have seen the arpeggio building up to that G5.

    Thanks again Jeff to add each time you do a vocal warm up for a professional new différents exercices and not the same routine 👌🏻 it helps to get a different approach each time and content everybody ! You are amazing 👍 I had a question : which kind of exercices can help to develop a rounder voice ? ( I don’t know if it’s that word in English cause I’m French 😬😅

    • @JeffAlaniStanfill
      @JeffAlaniStanfill  4 роки тому

      Alban I literally think high and low with each vowel to get the rounder sound. It's important not to spread the mouth opening too wide in order to keep the sound round. This would be a great topic for a future tutorial! Mind if I mention you as someone who asked for the topic should I do a tutorial on this subject?

    Jeff - great video, combining vocal warmups and rock tenor performance! (Shane - awesome singing!) Gethsemane is crazy high, G5 at 17:39! Jeff in your let your voice soar CD, your falsetto track goes up to D5 I believe. I don't think I have any aspirations of hitting a G5, but I am curious - how would someone train to move up from D5 to G5? Same exercises, but go gradually go up a 1/2 step at a time? In the various clips I have heard of Gethsemane, it seems a lot of singers are mixing in distortion to get to G5, but I personally never try distortion because I don't know how to do it correctly, and don't want to injure my vocal cords, plus I prefer the sound of clean singing. Anyway, thanks so much for all of your videos, really enjoy them!

      Hey Luke. Thank you for your awesome comment and to answer your question, one for the concepts we used for this song, which we cut for time, is to use and arpeggio on the word “why” in a why why why why why why why 1-3-5-8-5-3-1 scale. The “wuh” in the word why drops the larynx on the ascent, and the “I” (eye) part of the word lifts the soft palate. So you are getting that two way stretch down and up as you ascend. Also, you do have to be a bit brace and trust that no damage will be done. It’s important to stay as relaxed in your upper body as possible while keeping the lower body engaged. Hope that helps you!

    Great job! Bravi!
    I’m so tired of everyone (coaches, teachers, students, 🙄) being so concerned about the shoulders rising. That’s just a natural reaction of breathing deeply. Jussi Björling, Birgit Nilsson, early Renée Fleming-watch their videos and they clearly raise the shoulders gently rising as the chest expand.
    As long as it doesn’t impede vocal production, why fix it?
