i like all the channels you named.. different perspectives have helped me make my decisions and i am grateful for all the viewpoints and information..your experience has been more worth watching then the information ..though valuable in its own right, the Hair Loss show doctors kevin mann ect handle that ..but your sensitivity. transparency, and honesty are its own value thank you..

I was told the reason for the shed. Genetic predisposition is permanent around the follicle androgen receptor.. finasteride blocks DHT created by 5ar and Testosterone is only temporarily combating something that is progressive . The androgenetic alopecia sensitivity at the receptor under the hair root is from the uptick of BOTH Testosterone and Dihydrotestosterone. In your 20s and 30s the DHT ratio is high in the blood serum and it goes down in the 40s and 50s depending on the person and how high their testosterone is which can be pulled from bloodwork at a doctor's checkup. Combined with Minoxidil dependent hairs that shed the due to accelerating hair to the fullest they can be in a miniaturized state and making way for the newer hair from the root or simply a lapse in taking Minoxidil again causing the shed accelerating the anagen, catagen, and telogen phases. These treatments are stop gaps but against genetics and time with aging it is fighting a vicious stalemate at best. Even a hair transplant FUE or FUT will eventually decline due to DHT and T attacking the remainder of genetically sensitive follicles that were not transplanted hence their will be a gap that will show over time separating the bridge of the transplanted area of donor hair to where the back of the head will graduate to the wider donut hole of male pattern baldness. There are stem cell treatments and things coming down the pipeline but the expense of those treatments put transplants and PRP to shame. At some point as per individual there need to be a conversation of realistic expectations based what amount of hair is left based on the Norwood scale you are at and what treatment over time can bring you back to within a period of time and patience. Not everyone responds the same and not everyone maintains the same gains based on the same regimen followed. Everyone exists on a different genetic path of dominant and recessive coding in their DNA and their biological clocks and metabolisms function differently. Also if your hair has been in a miniaturized state for 10 years as opposed to say less than 3 years the responsive might not be there even if the hair is relatively dark and not vellus peach fuzz..because the length of time of dormancy it is not dead but for some follicles they will never grow back to the length of hairs you had at 15 years old or in your early twenties.

This was really cool. Please do this again. All of my five brothers have a head full of hair except me. UGH!!! Thanks for your honesty about the frontal hairline. Is Finasteride monthly is expensive? Do I just tell my doctor? And yes DJ, you truly beat the odds.

after 5 years i went off finesteride about 4 months ago due to side-effects. now doing minoxodil plus biotin and rosemary and peppermint essential oils. with the minoxodil i've noticed that i'm getting some weird hair growth around my eyes, kinda like a racoon eyes effect. i'm going to stick with it as long as the raccoon eyes don't get any worse. :/

My hairline got worse while I was on finasteride. Crown didn’t get any better after a year and a couple months looked the same since I started. Might have maintained but I just feel better just dropping finasteride for a month already and just doing the buzz cut that I got used to it and liking the look. I didn’t get any side effects from finasteride everyone is different with results so don’t give up the battle. My original plan was to stop at 30 just knowing in the early 20s losing your hair sucks.

I've been on finasteride for 11 months and my hairline has also gotten worse and there has been more diffuse thinning on my vertex as well. Pretty discouraging stuff. I just added minoxidil to the mix 1 month ago and am going to stay on the 2 for 1 more year and if I still see no improvement, I'm stopping both.

I believe it’s good to start with one treatment one at a time first instead of using all these products at once; establish a baseline with finasteride, and then complement it with Minoxidil and the other stuff after two years 18 months of finasteride at least.

What are things to avoid whole using hair fibers?

I've been on finasteride for exactly 11 months and minoxidil for 1 month. The side effects that I've experienced from finasteride has been a loss of beard hair. Prior to starting finasteride, I had a very thick, coarse and dense beard. In the last few months my beard has become thin and sparse. My body hair has also significantly thinned out. I also haven't had morning wood since I started finasteride, my erections take longer to get, don't last long and aren't as hard as they were prior to starting finasteride. Also, my semen is more transparent and there is also less than there used to be. As for progress, so far nothing, in fact, I've had even more hairline recession and overall diffuse thinning across my vertex during this time and that's why I started minoxidil, with hopes that the combination of the two drugs will make a powerful duo. I will give them both another full year. If I'm at the same place next summer as I am now, I'm stopping both treatments. Btw DJ, this is more like an ASMR video. I had to turn the volume WAY up with this one (could barely hear you)!
