@@sharonrigs7999 its for importation reasons, heritage idk but they are owned by taurus now, idk where they are made. For the 1870s open top models the safety is a screw you have to turn on the hammer to disable the hammer lol. So you never worry about it.

Nice video. I've never handled a Taurus single action revolver. A lot of people ask me about them. I'm curios if you know if the ejection housing is screwed directly into the barrel (like early 1st gen colt and Ubertis) or into a lug like (2+3rd gen colt)?

Right now, the HSM using small primers is very interesting... with reloading components still often hard to come by, large pistol primers are extremely rare, while small primers are easily found. They assume everyone's reloading 9mm. Having .45 Colt casings that use small primers could be very useful.

It looks great ❤. Maybe Altima will make some Beautiful grips for it soon . 1873 Colt Model "P" said to be the most natural aiming Revolver EVER made 🤠. You know, Colt did make them with black heavy polymer type grips , maybe for a better balance in hand , although walnut looks better to me . If you've seen John Wayne's six gun he has a yellowish orange grip I'm not sure but i think it some type of Ivory Maybe. But it's definitely one of a kind I've never seen another pistol with that color grip.

    • @ghostwolf4354

I can attest to the natural pointing. I have a second-get Colt SAA that has no front sight post - and it looks like a prior owner actually milled it off or had it professionally removed, as the finish where the sight would be is flawless. That's what caught my eye on this particular pistol, and ultimately why I bought it. At 30' it hits exactly where I expect it to - without a front sight. Only revolver I own that I can say that about.

Cimarron has that Rooster version with that aged ivory (fake) grip. They can't use the Duke or John Wayne as his name is copywrited by the Wayne family. Same with the Duke holster by El Paso, they had to change the name to #100 or something.

Personally, now im EXTREMELY torn! Do i go with the sexy 4 clicks of this or do i go with the ruggedness and strength of a Ruger new vaquero??? They have the same features as far as that transfer bar (which is EXTREMELY smart on their part.) But Rugers are TOUGH ASS GUNS and can handke ANY abuse. They also aint much different in terms of cost either.. ah sod it, im gettin a Taurus deputy. It can be my winter carry round whilst im dressed in me ol saddle slicker and black felt. (Yes, im crazy enough to carry a single six.. in tandem with my Smith and Wesson m&p9 m2.0 compact 9mm anyways) lmfao

I hear a few took the cylinder pin out and shorted it. They had problems ejecting because the pin is way too long. It's a decent looking gun. I've had two because one was .44 spec. Sold it the minute it had problems during dry firing. The .44 tracker was in the shop four times in one year for a sticky cylinder stop. Three out of four times they couldn't fix it. So the dealer repaired it in house. Sold that real quickly. Now if I could find a real Vaquero.45. not a NV either. I need serious power, and fixed sights.

Dustin, I was interested in the shooting of this weapon after seeing the unboxing earlier. It does appear to shoot straight and smooth. As I said in my comment on the unboxing, I'm relieved to see it doesn't have that free spinning nonsense like Ruger builds. Having used SAA revolvers since childhood (started in 1958, yeah I'm old), when I bough a Ruger Blackhawk 44Spl on the 357 frame, the weapon lasted a month before I traded it off. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I simply despised it! So I'm glad Taurus built this weapon along the proper operation methods. It reminds me of the Bounty Hunter in it's action.
Thanks for the update on this weapon. 👍

One thing to watch out for is the cylinder base pin bushing popping out of the center of the cylinder while removing the cylinder from the frame. Taurus is notorious for not having parts available for most of their guns and this little part would be a nightmare to replace. I have thoroughly enjoyed mine, so far. I chose the 5.5" 38/357 sku.

Well...sort of. The lockwork is obviously different as it does not allow the cylinder to spin just by opening the loading gate, and that's a pretty big difference (and probably patented by Ruger). This is more a copy of some of the old German cheap-o SAA copies that came into the US in the 70's. Taurus has obviously going to use better steel and whatnot, but it's pretty similar to the old "Virginian" named guns that were made by (I think) RG. Maybe Roehm? Decent designs, but executed in cheap castings of Zamak (pot metal). I'm sure Taurus is using all steel. It looks nice.
