Am I ever gonna make this? No. But does it sound good? *absolutely.*
I started with holodetz, solyanka and plov, now I have to make my own kvass, it is all a crazy drug leading to the next man.
@@LuisScharf it’s not about the drug that you make, it’s about the друг that you made along the way.
It is good. Like, it's my favorite Christmas food.
It's quite good, one of my favourite parts of the Polish Christmas meal
You should because it's so fuckin good
Just finished making this and my grandmother said it was just like her mom used to make her when she was little girl thank you for helping do that for her she is 103 years old and I have been trying to do things to help her remember her life and this was one of those things plus she watched your videos with me sometimes and says you are very funny 😁
such a wholesome comment
Wholesome comment, needs more upvotes
And I guess you also left out all the punctuation to make her remember the good old days when literacy was poor, too, yes?
Lovely babushka :)
@@Anvilshock its the youtube comments section, not a fuckin academic report.
I decided to be insane and make this for my polish girlfriend and her mother. I roughly followed the steps in the recipe and ignored literally every measurement. I didn’t even have time to taste test it….. turns out my girlfriend and her mother loved it and were genuinely impressed. I feel like I got the highest praise a human can get today.
eyyy!!!
it's the polish mothers that are insane. Watch out holmes
Boris may be a mad scientist gopnik, but he is also a genius. I also followed this recipe and thought it was delicious
My Polish grandma loves throwing this on a plate and saying “E A T”. She always serves everything with side of źurek.
is it like german sauerbraten(lit.:sourroast(ham)) sour tasting?
as a german its christmas food for us,i ask because of the zurek being sour and the dish from the video being served on christmas aswell,
might there be a connection?
Possibly from 1939
I've never seen an ironed Toast before, but the crust and browning look pretty damn tasty I gotta say
but how else people toast toast?

Because otherwise bread is sticking to iron and get black and smelly, eventually u can use baking parchment paper
My workshop is right next to my kitchen, so for the past two years I've been using my heat gun to melt cheese on things and reheat yesterday's pizza. Yes, I'm a slav.
As an Italian I laughed the hell out when you started telling the Italian, French and Polish guy's story 😂
Blin it is good to see you again, komrade!
Greetings from Poland! Thank you for showing the world our christmas dish :D
Eeeeeh, my great-grandma's family tradition was to make kopytka and brown them in the christmas roast's oils (that or just melted butter in a pan), my mother and grandma still make them every year and I also cook them at least twice around christmas.

I remember when my Polish exs family started cooking pasta after the main meal and I was confused. “Are we cooking for tomorrow?”
They then put twaróg and sugar on it and say “Smacznego, here’s dessert”. Took me a few minutes of convincing but after that, couldn’t get enough of it!

I'm from Hungary and this dish is like mixing two Hungarian dishes together. One is the pasta with poppy seed, the other is the poppy seed bread pudding. (In Hungarian: 1.mákos tészta 2. mákos guba) Both are awesome!! That looks good too! :)
Boris is like that one older brother that's actually cool 😂 Always love getting notifications from this channel~
That toast move is exactly the kind of creativity and madness I aspire to. Thank you papa Boris.

i downloaded all his cooking videos, so its like he never left lol. downloaded for times when i dont have internet.
I miss him every day there's no video too
That video was a fantastic piece, taken from your golden era of comedy - kalashikov bayonet, silly products name, GRENADE!, ironed toast, a lot of puns, and on top of all this - glorious slav cooking with a hint of complete pizdec on every milimeter of kitchen surface. Please do more, that's what made everybody love you, for that natural and completely unexpected comedy hitting hard like Siberian winter
We also have this in Austria exept it is without nuts and made with potatoes. Here we call it "Mohnnudeln".
never heard anyone say milk is like plutonium :)) glad boris cooking show is back

I can't believe my eyes, Boris making a food video again! PRAISE THE SLAV KING!
Veneto resident here. It looks like an improvement on the traditional gnocchi with cinnamon we have here around winter time!
Ingredients:
Potato gnocchi
Butter
Sugar
Cinnamon
Warm clear grappa (or use water if this is your first time*)
I'm not even going to write down the recipe figure it out yourselves and enjoy
In Venice we say that water makes poles (lowercase, but uppercase could apply too) rot, so I'd stick with grappa :D
There is a surprising amount of similarities between polish and italian cuisines, and to my knowledge neither is inspired by one another. For example: we have a dish called "kopytka", which is ALMOST the same when it comes to ingredients and preparation as gnocchi.
As to the dish from the video, it has MANY variants. There are sweet versions, more neutral tasking versions, I've even seen some savory versions too. Also, most people nowadays make this using normal semolina pasta, in a shape of really small squares that look like a minature lasagna.
OMG ... MY FAVOURITE MEAL!! I am from Slovakia ( North East ) ... and This was a Treat Meal, when I was a kid.. I remember to ask my grandma to make it every week... We loved it!!! Still one of my favorite dishes... We have a lot of poppy seeds recipes in Slovakia... Actually, you make a food usually with grounded poppy seeds, so every family has a poppy seeds grinder.
I'm gonna eat this just before going to the dentist.
Thank you Boris!
as a polish dentist I approve!
Oml 🤣 🤣 ur dentist will be very confused
I remember watching you years back. Thank you for all the amazing memories and laughs you gave me. And for you to still upload still warms my heart, and makes me happy. I haven’t watch your videos in a while but when I finally did I almost started crying because of the nostalgia.
I agree with this comment 🥰
I'm so happy to see boris hasn't truly abandoned this channel, but instead decided to focus on SKG and do this without the stress and feeling of owing something to an audience, it makes his videos feel authentic :)
I'm Polish and for thirty years I was not aware that such a dish existed. In the area of Poland where I come from, we had noodles with cottage cheese and noodles with cabbage (in both cases, the third ingredient was fried bacon chopped into cubes).
I so missed Boris' cooking videos. Such a nice breath of vodka air
I hope this means that the channel is back, for which I am glad, as I have missed your slavic brand of crazy!
These are troubling times but Boris never fails to make me feel safe and welcome with his videos somehow
I've actually tried something similar when I was a kid in Croatia. Homemade pasta with poppy seeds, nuts and raisins. We call them 'krpice s makom'.
Joke at the beginning genuinely made me laugh. Great to have another cooking recipe from amazing Boris

butter bread with sugar is my childhood snack. We were so poor but still ate well. And we ate A LOT of hot dogs and butter bread.
my momma did it with a little cinnamon too
Aahh, yes. My family did it fancy, with brown sugar and a little cinnamon.
When I was a kid I liked to do buttered bread with salt and pepper because I felt like a cook
only other time I heard of this way of snack is from my friend who's from serbia during civil war haha
@@dewinmoonl I think it comes from the German side of my family who came to America during the Weimar years.
People in a part of Serbia called Vojvodina are making a similar dish called Rezanci s Makom, but it has like 2 ingredients: Rezanci (pasta) and Mak (Poppy seeds). This recipe is like an upgraded version of Rezanci s Makom, I need to try it.
And this video is so funny I had to pause it million times because I was laughing so hard! Love to see you back!
I'm not a big fan of this dish myself, but my whole family loves it. I can't imagine Christmas without him. Especially that after a few attempts, it takes not long to make it. Greetings from Poland!
Feel the Christmas atmosphere, Grandma does this shit every year, I love you, Babushka ❤
First, I love the fact that Boris finally did a polish recipe. Also the part when he cooks up the milk... mastrpiece, I watched it like 7 times on repeat and I laughed to the loss of breath every single time
I have been watching you for over 15 years Boris. You are my favorite UA-camr and you always make me smile
Watching this while eating some Mákos Guba, which is basically... take some crescent-shaped milk-based bread of some kind
Cut them into nice slices
Mix milk and vanilla sugar, put it on the stove, heat it up
Douse the bread slices in the sugary milk
Put some poppy seeds and powdered sugar on it
Mix until homogenous
Wait for like an hour
Tada!
If you want traditional, you can also put this mixture in the oven until it gets somewhat brown.
Love from Hungary!
@LifeofBoris........... You scammer pieces of shit deserve eternal damnation
We love this in Hungary. Not only in christmas time. It's always tasty.

My goodness , polish food once again 😍
hejj he loves our majonez so maybe we can say...second? 😂
This video makes me understand why Hungarians like to drink and fight with the Polish.
Such a glorious mess
1:01 you really are a man of true culture
I often heard of this dish when I was a kid, from immigrant relatives. Unfortunately poppy seeds were not available in the US until very recently, at least in my area. I think they were illegal! It happens that we can buy poppy seed grinders (!) which look like a small meat grinder, maybe 1/4 size. I thought we would grind the seeds first (dry) so I'm glad I watched this! This was one of those things that people missed from the old country, a generation later.
"Apply movement to the components" is the genius-level writing I come back for.
*tears of manly happiness from seeing cheerful boris*
Poppyseed noodles and toast with sugar, what a beautiful Polish-core

So happy Boris didn't abandon it all, and is now back with more of his AWESOMENESS!
"kluski z makiem" is my family's favorite dish! Thank you for posting this.
We call it "nudle s makem" in Czechia and it is the food of my childhood.
But we don't boil the poppy, we just grind it smooth and mix with sugar. The boiled poppy seeds is filling for "buchta" and is also delicious.
Interesting. The noodles are exactly how my grandpa made dumplings for chicken and dumplings, so apparently it's a universal recipe. The poppyseed stuff, however, I've never eaten anything like it. Definitely going try this!!
as a Pole I approve this recipe! Polska Cię kocha Boris!
In hungary we make almost the same thing we jsut leave out the nuts and use smaller pasta. We eat it with honey and powdered sugar :D

Nudle s mákem ❤️ Travelling in the West, I've noticed that people don't eat poppy seeds that much. Very strange🤔
My Croatian dad does something similar. After a pasta dinner he takes the leftover, dried noodles (kinda like how you use old rice for fried rice) and fries it with ground poppy seeds and sugar. He just calls it "Tijesto sa makom" or "Pasta with poppy seeds." 5/5 good dessert.
I love that he still does it... it really shows hes passion for his craft. ❤️
Hahaha da

This is the first time I cannot even begin to imagine what a food tastes like. I wish I had any hope of ever cooking this just to taste.
I'm Czech, and lived with my Victorian-Era grandmother growing up; we actually made this (usually we'd make it together)! Personally, I love it and think it's friggin' delicious!
I am SO SO GLAD that you're back, our man. Been missing.
I was so mad because I got the notification right before I had to do something that took a few hours, but this... this, and in fact, ALL of Boris' content is worth the wait. We love you so much, Boris! Dios te bendiga! 💕
I always enjoy your cooking videos most, Boris. It’s great to know you’re back.
Seeing boris cut with knife directly on table without tablet brought back a hundred flashbacks of mama, babushka, great babushka and aunt going into shock seeing me cut on table or on table cover and scratching/cuting it. Good times.
What the world needs right now, is more quality Boris content! Thank you for not abandoning us!
Amazing! I love Boris recipes!

Boris the Legend returns, i love this man so much
Seeing new cooking video from Boris always makes my day a bit better 😊
Boris we need more polish recipes, I enjoyed this and your pronunciations are very good too
I love this episode's song in particular because by now I've just associated it with being poor af but also it's okay that I'm poor af. Get up in the morning, slowly stroll like a drunken pirate to the kitchen, got ramen to eat, couple boxes of mac and cheese, half a box of spaghetti... only on of those has any nutritional value and I already had ramen yesterday so to shake things up I'll eat an entire box of whole wheat crackers dipped in peanut butter for protein. Always been subbed to Boris because it's nice to explore what tasty meals you can make with so little
I’m so glad you’re back making cooking videos! This is pure gold!
Heck yes, Polish food time.
