First off. I fixed it! Thank you for taking a portion of my stress away by posting this informative video! I suffer from unending back pain from a failed back surgery, My wife has Cancer, and I have a next-door neighbor who screws with my wife and I over property lines that are not his (I have a $675 survey map and four stakes to prove it however, he has buried two of the most important stakes under mulch and will not let us step on his property to uncover it in our 6-ft fence blocks access to the stakes. But That doesn't matter to this knucklehead)! And when the cord snapped on the mower today I thought to myself this is all I need! But I watched your video a second time and calmly went out to the garage and did it. Fixed. Trickiest part was threading the old cord back through because it has swollen over the years. I tried the lighter trick to no avail. Thank you again for your help!

Glad it helped. This repair can be pretty annoying for sure.

Thanking you 100x. 🙏 much appreciated as I'd taken mine apart but had not ever before. So how simply the string is threw me. Cuz a kid borrowed it and has Hulk strength on a 10tr old weathered cable. Yeah. Disintegration. So, this video was excellent. And your camera person caught your English on that o e spot and I laughed twice as heartily. So thank you BOTH very much. Fantastic video knowledge. Be well.

Thanks a ton. Spent more time driving to Lowe's for new cord (40 minutes) than I did installing it (10 minutes) following your advice.

This is a great video especially for an older mower with better (metal) internal parts. But if u have a new mower, like my three year old Craftsman M110 u may as well just spend a few more bucks and replace the entire pull starter assembly. It’s actually much easier anyways. I replaced my string only to also discover that the plastic post the assembly spring hooks to had worn out requiring me to replace the entire assembly. Like i said its only a few bucks more and easier than replacing the string.

Yes sir, the new ones are much easier to replace the whole thing.

So you're supposed to recoil it all the way before you put the new string in and tie a knot on the end? It's not clear

My string broke right as it started. Am I supposed to recoil it all the way before I rethread the string back in?
