Oh man! I'm obsessed with your channel and Solvang is my hometown actually! I've lived here for most of my life. I'm actually banned from the ostrich farm that you mentioned, funnily enough. It's always so interesting seeing tourist's perspectives of this place because Solvang is like a mini Disneyland or something to them, but it's suffocating and boring to me. I'm glad you went over the colonial history of Solvang, it's definitely something that a lot of locals ignore, which sucks because Chumash people are still very much still around and having their history be suppressed or just replaced with "Oh look, Danish pastries!" is obviously really sad and troubling. I'm glad you mentioned that. This was a good video! Keep up the awesome work.
Anna Ready I live in Orange County and I’ve always wanted to go to solvang. When I was 12 I went to Santa Barbara and took highway 1 all the way to Monterey but I guess we skipped solvang then
Man, I thought they just had good fudge! Seriously though, I love your videos (not just because you’re my son and I think you are AMAZING), but I learn a little something with each one! Keep up the good work!!
Need more videos ! Love your exploration. I think finding hiding gems and even exploring new places that I never new in Cali and all the states would be awesome! There’s so many travel videos of ppl going to popular destinations ... I want more videos like yours!! ThAnks for the amazing quality and content !!
So glad I found this channel. I’ve lived in California my whole life and didn’t know there were so many hidden gems in the state. Keep up the good work! Cheers!
One thing that wasn't mentioned was that the area has amazing wineries, like at least 50 of them as well as at least that many tasting rooms...I think Solvang has 12 tasting rooms as well as a very cool "speak-easy" brewhouse called the "Backroom." Solvang Brewery is also really good...
I'm a Florida boy but my Dad moved the rest of the family to Santa Maria when he got transferred to Vandenberg (he was a Radar Guidance Engineer and worked for GE)...I stayed in Florida but visited many times...Solvang was always our favorite side trip (at my request). It really is a magical place and a great place to spend a day.
This is my sixth time that I have being visiting this wonderful town I love this place the food the stores y the vineyard places the tasting room of wine, gorgeous.I your channel too,
I LOVE Solvang!!! I really want to go back again soon! 😍😍😍😍 My family bought a musical copper windmill once that played Windmills Of Your Mind by Noel Harrison. Loved that thing..!! I want to get another one someday!!! AWESOME VIDEO!!!
I live in Solvang. Its pretty boring, not gonna lie, but your video was good. There’s actually a park here called “Sunny Fields Park”, which makes sense when you think about the danish meaning of Solvang. The best places to go in the Santa Ynez Valley in my opinion are Los Alamos, Nojoqui Falls, and Figueroa Mountain (the actual mountain, not the restaurant).
Love this Kyle... every time I have gone I have to admit... we hit the wonderful wineries in the area too. Lots of wine tasting... but that would have been difficult to understand what you were saying if you and the gang visited them then tried to do your tutorial!!! Cheers
EXPLORE ALWAYS great job on SOLVANG, CA!💥👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I haven´t been to CA since I was 20 but am looking forward to returning this December after a6 month stay in MEXICO doing my remote work and making WOWSOME travel vlogs. SOLVANG is on my BUCKET LIST but I wanna be there in the SUMMERE time rather than the cold🥶 time. GREAT HISTORY LESSON dost.
But for me.Its funny .And i live in Denmark..And i understand they found this place with sun.Its far away from the danish weather. And they understand to make "hygge"
I love your video series so much and love, love, love how you explore and share the amazing 'secrets' of our wonderful State! (and Solvang is one of my most fav places! 😻)
Used to work at a thrift store and we would come to this tow to do some pick ups! i loved the old look! decided to go up here on my birthday with my wife and daughter and loved it'
Thanks for the suggestion! Most of the history on the indigenous peoples can be found on Mission Santa Inés' website here: missionsantaines.org/history-summary
Not trying to ruin it or anything but as a Dane, this town is very stereotypical. Yeah sure the town looks Danish but only like Denmark in the 1800s or so. Today we're a lot more modern. However the many Danish flags are very true. We have Danish flags everywhere in Denmark.
Its easy to find towns in denmark full of old architechture... but Solvang is somehow overdone/overdecorated compared to Ye Olde Danish town. Some of the architechture also look a bit more like something you would find in germany rather than denmark.
So funny to see! I’m from Denmark and have lived here my whole life, so to see that America have a mini small Danish city is funny! From what I can see, it is very old school Danish! I would fell like going back in time if i was there! It looks like “den gamle by” - the old city - that we have here in Denmark! So funny!
I like California better now as an American state, but for California to be under Spanish rule NO WAY! Because the Spanish Traders and their counterpart the Portuguese Traders were all responsible for their religious Catholic orders and their Inquisition activities in most parts of the world. California does have a dark history of Spanish colonization and parts of it is controversial especially the Franciscan founder of the 21 Missions. I am glad that California is not Spain🇪🇸 or Mexico🇲🇽, but California is America🇺🇸 and we have the whole world with us today including the French, German, Chinese and Japanese communities, god bless all amen!
Im Danish and im confused , why is the architecure on the houses the windmills and clougs arre dutch but the baker , flags and the name solvang danish NETHERLANDS/ Holland are speaking Dutch and iDenmark is two different European countries Do you know you mixed up two different countries ? That is soooo hilarious funny 😂 If you been to Solvang and wanna be a tourist in denmark you will be very disappointed , because Solvang is a cooy of Netherlands/holland and NOT denmark !!!

Banned from the ostrich farm!? Oh no! hahaha. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
Anna Ready Oh dear! How exactly does one get banned from the ostrich farm? Did you steal an egg? 🥚👀
You can't just throw out "banned from the ostrich farm", and not explain why.
There's a story here and we need to hear it. lol

One of the “must see” places to visit when you drive up the coast. I visited many times in my childhood; time to see it again!
Great informational video! We would love to visit Solvang! We are a Danish-American couple who just started a UA-cam

This video was done nicely. Thanks.

😝haha! I was tempted to do some wine tasting, but we only had a day and a half there. We'll have to go next time!

Imagine going to Denmark after being at Solvang thinking that’s how Denmark is.

Abelskiebers are the best . Hopefully I spelled it correctly but they are Amazing!!!!
YES! They are so good!!!! Thanks for watching.
They are so good! And in Denmark, they are spelled Æbleskiver!
@@themogensensjourney3272 // In Denmark, they're spelled 'æbleskiver'; we don't capitalise nouns anymore unless it's a proper noun ;-)
You should go to Leavenworth, Washington next! I think the same people who worked to make Solvang also worked there
It looks like a fake place designed to be a holiday destination. Solvang WAS actually set up by the Danish in the early 20th century.
Your exploring Tours Sounds like easter eggs... Wonderfull!
This is a must watch!
Thank you. I'm gonna visit the place next week.
Excellent recap dude!
Whats Camera did you used at 0:42 time stamp ??

I went here
The way the fake scene of the likes where it shows 13m views but still hasn’t gotten that after a year

More like teleported to early 19th century Denmark with cars and electricity
Its easy to find towns in denmark full of old architechture... but Solvang is somehow overdone/overdecorated compared to Ye Olde Danish town. Some of the architechture also look a bit more like something you would find in germany rather than denmark.
Whatch it get ruined by some taco shop nearby
Denmark dont really look like that, just saying.
And i live in Denmark.
You forgot to mention all the fantastic WINERIES in and surrounding Solvang....a HUGE mistake on your part!
