Yes, this is so great! I wanted to ask if I can share this on my hotel page. I'm located in Pacifica and its the #1 question we get from the guest that come from all over the world. This would be great to share. I did message on FB as well.
Born and raised here in SF so here is my local tip. Use one of the many bike shares that this city has to offer. You can start at the Ferry Building with some lunch. Afterwards, you have a 5 minute bike ride to Pier 39. From Pier 39, you can walk around the rest of Fisherman's wharf then walk to Ghiradelli Square. From Pier 39 to Ghiradelli is about 5 blocks so its a very short walk. From Ghiradelli, grab a bike again and ride down to and along the Marina all the way to the Palace of Fine Arts, which is probably about a 15 minute bike ride. Take a walk around there then get back on the bikes and take another 10 minute ride along Crissy Fields and end up at Fort Pointe to take in the views of the Golden Gate Bridge from below. With a snack in between and just wandering those parts of the city, this could take up an entire day. Take a short ride back to Chestnut Street to grab some dinner at the many restaurants and drinks at the many bars and its a day. On another day, Golden Gate Park and the Painted Ladies (Alamo Square) are very close to each other as well. Its not quite walking distance (12 long blocks) but a bike would come in handy here as well. If you go to Golden Gate Park on the weekends, the main parts are closed off to cars so it makes biking much easier. Hit the Conservatory of Flowers then the Academy of Sciences. If its getting close to dinner time, take the short walk over to 9th and Irving Street. Park Chow is my favorite in that area and Pacific Catch is on the same block.
SERIOUS CABLE CAR TIP (from a life long local) Step 1: Get your ticket from the vending machine. Step 2: FORGET THE LINE AT THE TURNABOUT. The cable car operators do NOT fill up the car all the way at the turnaround. If they did, the system would be useless as public transportation for anyone who lives here. SO, take advantage of that and walk a few (4 or 5) blocks up the street and just catch the cable car on a corner. You'll be on the outside part (the best part) and no waiting in line.
I work for MUNI and will hopefully be a cable car operator soon... Powell line I always catch at post or sutter but if you really want to ride the cable car with no lines take the California st line you can catch it at Market and Drumm. Ride it to Van Ness and back.

Something I used to do while living in SF is go up this street next to a cheap hotel called Golden Eagle Motel (I believe) and you'll come across a set of stairs that lead to these apartment complexes. In front of the stairs there's some benches. I used to always sit there during the night. Especially around Christmas. And you'll get a great view of the Golden Gate bridge (and its lights if you go on Christmas). Not a lot of people go there. It was my get away from all the chaotic, noisy parts of SF. Thanks for this great video. Have been to SF twice and now wish I watched this before. Guess I have to go a third time to work off that amazing list. Greetings from Germany.
This is a very charming city and easy to get to, I hope I can return to visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
I have been visiting the Haight-Ashbury district, Market Street, Golden Gate Park, Richmond District and the Financial District quite frequently these past few months, and haven't seen ONE needle or human waste on the floor. Some people (many who haven't even been to SF or visited the past few years) are GREATLY over exaggerating about the issue like 90% of the time you're gonna see a needle or human waste randomly lying around somewhere. Every time I visit SF, it's a pleasant experience for the most part. I hope the homelessness/drug crisis gets worked out soon though, as SF it too beautiful of a city to have that reputation as a whole. With that being said, MOST of SF is not what some people (news media) is painting it out to be, and this is all from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I've visited quite a few big cities in my lifetime, and San Francisco is still one of my favorites.
Nikki Best all over??? My god lmao. If that’s the case, don’t you think everyone who works or lives in SF would’ve left by now?! Lol. I literally was just in SF two days ago in the Portola neighborhood and Russian Hill two weekends ago, and it was spotless (again, REAL LIFE experience). And where’s “further” exactly?? Which neighborhood/district are you talking about?? Name them. That’s exactly what I’m saying..people either over exaggerating the issue or simply making fictional things up lol
Thank you! I find the majority of SF to be very safe and clean and I go there all the time. Sure, downtown/the tenderloin/a few other areas can get sketchy at points, but everywhere else ESPECIALLY the neighborhoods around Golden Gate Park are absolutely amazing. I've seen poop once and only once. Don't think I've ever seen a needle 🤷. The city definitely has plenty of issues and is far from perfect, but everyone hating on it is a bit misguided I think.
At first I was ready to condemn this video for only showcasing extremely touristy spots, but as it went on, I began to appreciate the selections more- Musee Mechanique, Maritime Museum, Presidio, Land's End, Golden Gate Park (the Acadmeny of Science)... Muir Woods. Though all these spots attract tourists, they were showcased well. What I really appreciate about this video was that it wasn't just a bunch of stock footage, it appeared to actually be original content... all that considered: well done! (Thank you for not putting Pier 39 on the list.)
Watch out for all the poop on the streets make sure I get the app that shows u where the poop is also make sure u stay away from all the hypodermic needles left on the streets from all the homeless shooting up and just leaving them laying around and don't go around the homeless encampments cause u mite get robbed
As someone who’s live in SF my whole life I’ve done all of these except four. Alcatraz, Cable cars, Marshall’s beach, & Point Bonita. I LOVE Muir Woods. Even though it’s not in SF highly recommend.
Been to San Francisco a few years ago its a very interesting place. So many things to see and do. Enjoyed the rides on the cable cars and also the food the clam chowder is absolutely delicious.
Wow... Great video with lots of places to visit. I wish this video was around in 2017 when I went there. I only visited a handful of places. Very diverse city. People of all nationalities.
I do plan to visit San Francisco soon and these highlights of 24 places to visit was a great help to narrow down what I can expect to see for my first visit. Thank you.
I use to live there through the winters, i was sick and couldn't stay in cold weather without getting sick, I use to stay there through the winters, the people were respectful, two of my friends and I we went place seen things, so much to see and do take 20 yrs to see the entire city.. loved it and I do miss it
San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the USA. And, as usual, you need time for visiting all of the nice places there are in this city. We've been there in july and it's really cold, particulary the Golden Gate area, with cold air all day long. But, in general is one of the cities you have to visit at least once in your life.
So this is a really good overview of touristy things to do. But to really experience city I would recommend: a stroll down Valencia street, an afternoon (if the weather is lovely) in dolores park. & mission Dolores is a place I visit regularly & is usually the first place I take visitors. One great thing about this city is that there are an infinite number of cool things to do.
Thank you kindly for this guide. I am visiting SF, from the UK hopefully in the summer of 2019 and it is always great to experience new locations that aren't commonly talked about in tour guides like the Maritime museaum, Ghirardelli Sqr and Muir Woods. I can't wait.
We so look forward to welcoming you to San Francisco. But the things you mentioned are not new. Lol! Once you get here there are free newspapers that will let you know what's going on in this city as far as shows, restaurants events Etc. They are in newspaper boxes all over the city. They are called The Guardian and SF Weekly. Enjoy!
Man, I'm going to California next year, and I'm going to visit Death Valley NP, Sequoia NP, Yosemite NP, Sacramento, San Francisco, take PCH, and maybe Los Angeles, then Las Vegas. Your videos give a great start point for turists. Thanks man!!!!
SF may have some of the best tourist traps in the world. Who could not visit the GG Bridge, Chinatown or Lombard Street? You also showed us some hidden gems. Thanks. One little note: San Francisco is known for unpredictable weather. I've been there on an August afternoon and it was 60 degrees. However, if you go in September and October, you are almost assured of warm, sunny days.
Chilly summers are typical though. Maybe unexpected for outsiders but not unpredictable. In fact, SF statistically has the least weather variation in the country, which gives it the most predictable weather possible. :)
Honolulu has the least total variation. All of the California coast is pretty similar in variation. Compared to the wild highs and lows of the rest of the US though, it’s quite nice. I did my time in the Midwest. No more for me!
Did a great many of these things on my vacation to SF in 2019. Yes, some rough areas, but the bright spots are bright. Many wonderful experiences and iconic images that I will keep in my memories. The best vacation I ever had in my life. I was planning to sketch out a part 2 for East Bay, maybe even Napa Valley, but.....you know....
Oh wow. I'm from the bay area and work in SF and never cared to look last past fisherman's warf. All the tourist attractions are super close to the water.
Great video! I'm visiting my husband, who is currently staying in SoMa, and we only have 3 full days together. This video was very helpful as we now have some amazing options. We've both been before, but not together, so we're excited to visit as many of the places on your vid as possible. Cheers!
I lived across the when I was growing up. Admittedly it was a long time ago. Our family used to go on Sunday afternoon trips almost every weekend. Because of that, I’ve visited most of these places are, however, it is amazing to see how they have been upgraded since I moved away. I’ll be back there in October, the one place not on the list is across the bay in Castro Valley. There is an ice cream shop called Lords that has the best ice cream I’ve ever had any place in the world that I’ve been. That is a stop we are going to make.
My sister lived in San Francisco for many years. Even after visiting for decades, there were still 5 on your list that I haven't seen. Thanks for sharing! I'd add: The Exploratorium & The SF MOMA.
"Muir Woods is about 35 minutes from downtown San Francisco." 🤣🤣🤣 You know what's 35 minutes from downtown San Francisco? Downtown San Francisco. Especially on weekday afternoons.
Now you have to have Reservation to go to Muir Woods. It used to be so simple to go there, but now it's so over run with vehicles, and tour buses that parking without a reservation is impossible. Also at one time you could get a ticket, jump on a ferry to Alcatraz, try doing that now. If you drive into San Francisco, you are guaranteed a ticket of some kind, and/or you will pay at least twenty dollars+ at a parking garage, or a parking meter which all take credit cards now....what does that tell you? SF is a cesspool, and if you plan to visit it, save your money and go anywhere else, even Bakersfield is better.
Also, the Vista point on the immediate north end of the GG Bridge is great for tourists or locals, and the visitor center on the immediate south end has good food and great views. The entire city just has so much to offer, you could probably list 100 other things.
Thanks again for this one, last year when visiting San Diego and LA you helped us a lot. This year we went to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe and again your tips were a great help. All the best! Greetings from Europe.
@@blackswanvante no particular best place, all places were nice and different. Stayed in Mill Valley, nice place including Muir woods and Stinson Beach.

I love your channel it’s the best so far. It’s very informative but not boring or too long. Thank you so much
This is a very charming city and easy to get to, I hope I can return to visit sometime in the future when all this is over.
Then venture out in the city a little further. It is all over.
Great points Joseph!
Let people enjoy things
I mean he kind of did put pier 39 on there.. Fisherman’s Wharf’s biggest attraction is pier 39 and it’s in a couple shots
@@dylanarceneaux NOBODY who lives in SF goes to Fisherman's Wharf. If you suggested going there people would look at you like you're nuts.
Good points NorCal!
You picked some really great ones, but you missed 3 of my favorite: Angel Island, The Crepe Cafe, and the Fire Engine Tours.
Great video and recommendations. SF was not on my list to do but after watching your video, all the sudden I feel like making a trip to SF.
I'm moving to San Fran in january next year and this video made me even more excited about it!! Thanks, Josh :)
@@Sfmpg Surprising how cold it is at Alcatraz. Sweaters and sweatshirts very high on tourists purchase list
No problem, have fun when you come explore!
Enjoy!
Very nice seeing the great bridhe.
Fantastic shooting of SF bridge
Great job.
Great tip, I am hoping to make a video soon on things to understand before visiting SF and weather is def one of them
San Francisco is the only City in the country where it's warmest month is September. It's a phenomenon.
There may be warm sunny days in sept and October but very few warm nights in a year. About 7 per year. Take A light jacket. Always.
San Francisco is my favorite city in America
Lovely tips. Finally someone whos's not trying to be a celebrity; just plain, valueable info. Thanks...😃
That’s the type of videos I make
thank you really enjoy all your tips
Going to SAN Francisco in the winter holiday. Very exited since my brother is studying there.
You guys did a great job! I loved the Big Sur video. Thank you for sharing some wonderful stops! You are the best
This is a superb video!! Extremely informative and highlights so many great SF spots!! Thank you!
Thank u very much for sharing this video...now I know all those beautiful places in San Francisco...keep vlogging
What an awesome video thank you so much
As someone who lives in sf, I often forget it’s a big tourist attraction.
The more you travel the more you'll appreciate San Francisco
Oh wow. I'm from the bay area and work in SF and never cared to look last past fisherman's warf. All the tourist attractions are super close to the water.
Great job! We really enjoy your videos, beautiful execution, inspirational narration. Keep up the good work! You keep making 'em, we'll keep watchin'.
This is by far, the best video for tips in San Francisco!!! Dude!!! YOU-ARE-THE-BEST!!!👏👏👏 THANK YOOOUUU!!!!
SF is the place to be! thanks for the share! can wait to travel back there!
We just moved to the SF Bay Area and can't wait to do some exploring. Thank you for all the great ideas and recommendations!
Best video of things to do there. We’ll be there next week. Thank you so much. 💕
"Muir Woods is about 35 minutes from downtown San Francisco." 🤣🤣🤣
You know what's 35 minutes from downtown San Francisco? Downtown San Francisco. Especially on weekday afternoons.
haha, cuz of traffic
There's another San Francisco sight -start at 7th and Townsend and go to Treasure Island at 4:45 p.m. on a weekday
MDSKCJDI
@@dodoboodrough6044 San Fran tragic is as bad as L,A
Thank you so much for this beautiful video! I have been to SF two times so far, and after seeing your video I really want to go there again now.
Also, the Vista point on the immediate north end of the GG Bridge is great for tourists or locals, and the visitor center on the immediate south end has good food and great views. The entire city just has so much to offer, you could probably list 100 other things.
San Francisco has many beautiful places to visit
Awesome video! Headed there in April, definitely plan to shoot a few videos at these destinations!
Straight to the point, and I love how much info you give in so little time.
California is one of the best State in United States of America!
Thanks again for this one, last year when visiting San Diego and LA you helped us a lot. This year we went to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe and again your tips were a great help. All the best! Greetings from Europe.
what were the best places in SF in your opinion
@@blackswanvante no particular best place, all places were nice and different. Stayed in Mill Valley, nice place including Muir woods and Stinson Beach.
What a treat!!! Perfect for our upcoming trip there. You are the man. Thanx from Sweden.
Can't wait to go back this beautiful city 😭😍😍
Your video's are just outstanding, thank you so much for sharing them.
Thanks for all the support Gary, I appreciate it!
Land's end was one of my favorite places when I use to live there❤😭
This was an amazing video! I have watched so many videos for my upcoming trip and it seems like everyone has the exact same top 5 or 10 things to do - so thank you for adding variety & the videography is perfect!
Thank you for this!!! Although we’ve visited San Francisco multiple times there’s at least 6 things on your list I was not aware of. This just means we’ll have to back again! And soon!!!
