@@MotorcycleImaging Back in the day they were, but not long after BIA faded they fell into relative obscurity & indifference. Especially among the used record stores I noticed they wouldn't buy any Supertramp albums. Was strange, & sad, but true. Nowadays though, seems many younger people found them, & loved them to death!

I've been listening to this song since 1978. And I can just tell you that I was so glad to see the tears shed, because I've been drawn to tears by this song regularly for over 40 years. It's unavoidable.
And yes, masterpiece. The other masterpiece on this album is of course Fool's Overture. Not as much a tearjerker, but more of a feeling of awe & wow, because of it's awesomeness & wowsomeness!

Supertramp is one of my favourite bands ever. There is an interview with Rodger Hodgson on the channel 'Top 2000 a gogo' here on youtube, and at the end he sits down in a forest with his 12-string and does a part of this song. It's as magical with just him and his guitar - that's how you can tell if a song is really good.

I have been a Supertramp fan since 1974. One of my friends introduced them at a party by putting on 'Crime of the Century.' From the harmonica opening I was hooked. Then in 1975, 'Crisis? What Crisis?' was released and I bought it. That was the year I first was able to see them in Milwaukee. They played both of the albums in their entirety.
The album 'Even in the Quietest Moments' came out in early 1977. One of my other friends was able to get his mom to charge concert tickets. When they came in the mail, we freaked out because they were SECOND ROW! When we got to our seats, imagine our surprise when we were slightly to the left of Center stage, right in front of Rick Davies!! Still 45 years later, this show remains as one of my absolute favorite concert memories! ✌💙

In the summer of 1977 - I bought a 68 Pontiac Le Mans. To pay for it I had a paper route that required a car to carry the papers from apartment complex to apartment complex. One Sunday morning when the sun was just coming up - I was loading my car and I could hear the birds singing around me. I had the radio on low so not to disturb sleepers - and as the birds were chirping this song came on - and I could hear the exact same bird song from outside my car and from inside my car - I stopped what I was doing and I just listened. It was marvelous. The words of the song resonated with me - the wall of sound encapsulated me - and I had one of the nicest 10 minutes of my life just enjoying being 17 - having a car - and embarking on my life voyage to becoming an old man. I'm here - and I've loved this song all my life - and listen to it when I feel melancholy.

My father passed away in 2010 unexpectedly of a heart attack he was only 56. My father loved Supertramp and he played this song on guitar so well. He loved the Beatles so much we had imagine playing on piano for him at his funeral. On my day when my turn to leave this vessel comes I wish for This song to play for Me. I can’t even get through hearing the first 30 seconds of this track without fission and my eyes full of tears. I miss my Dad so much I wish we had more time together but I cherish All the memories. I have so much they are my life’s treasure. You become the star… is that what you are Dear?

Fool's Overture may be technically their best on the album, but in a spiritual sense, this song is my favorite of all their songs.

I strongly recommend you watch their Paris 1979 show. On UA-cam, it's broken into separate videos. School is the opening song and it will auto link to the next song. Fool's Overture is on it.

Amazing LP. Got me through college. I would lay in bed on a Sunday morning and listen to this all the way through. Every weekend! Such a big sound from this group. Another gem and you discovered it! Awesome.

I saw Supertramp live 11 times and the real underrated member is the genius that is John Anthony Helliwell who sings backup, interacts & jokes with the audience plus he plays saxophone, clarinet, triangle & keyboards plus he co-wrote a few songs!! In 1987 Helliwell played on Pink Floyd's album A Momentary Lapse of Reason....

I think what I like most about this song is how seamlessly each instrument (including vocals)'s voice blends into the next. Supertramp as a whole working together is just beautiful.

Got to see Supertramp four times. A brilliant show each time. Beautiful up lifting music that still sounds wonderful forty-five yrs later. Every album is excellent. I was in high school orchestra with John Helliwell's cousin, Susan she played the French Horn and looked like John.

No pause! I just found your channel this evening and have been down the rabbit hole listening. Love your content and I find myself knowing and following all the artists/bands you have listened/reacted to as I wander your channel this evening. Thank you for the memories tonight, and know that I subscribed straight away. Your selections drew me to my closet that contains my vinyl... (it's a little sad that's where it is)... and your channel inspired me to get it out and start listening to complete albums again. I wish I could send you the picture I took of a random selection of vinyl album covers (with the records inside) lying out on the floor. Keep doing you!

Figure he has to be the way he put the thump in their songs. Unfortunately, Roger H. the other guitar player has never spoken about the three supporting group members. In fact, he wanted Rick to fire them.

Check out their first album from 1970 self-titled import album, "Surely" (30 sec intro) and "It's a Long Road". Supertramp's early works are very progressive experimenting in varying time signatures.

Bought the album when it first came out and played it over and over again. My fav of theirs. I saw them on their farewell tour in the 80's and to this day the best sounding concert I've ever heard. They are a special sounding unique band. Bravo!

You sure do know your Colorado when you see it! 😁 This album was recorded at the Caribou Ranch Studios up in the Rockies west of Denver, and the cover was photographed at a ski resort nearby. (They left an actual old piano out to get snowed overnight to take the picture.)

Another fantastic Supertramp song to respond to is also from Breakfast in America called "Child of Vision". It ends with a fantastic 5 minute piano solo. As I was watching, I spied the "Enigmatic Ocean" album behind you and it reminded me of my favorite JLP song which is so appropriate in today's world. A song called "Computer Incantations for World Peace" from the Individual Choice album. It's freaking brilliant!
P.S. Keep up the great work. We love you guys!
