- Thank you to our supporter Robin S for this awesome pick! Supertramp is so good. Both songs I've heard from this album are just superb. I've enjoyed every track from them but "Crime of the Century" is my favorite still. I am thinking about doing the whole album but who knows... if someone requests it I will for sure do it.

This isn't a song. It's a spiritual experience.
What l have always loved about Supertramp sounds like no other band. No two Supertramp songs sound like any other Supertramp songs. They are just unique.
One of Supertramp’s finest moments.
Extremely creative English band.
I never tire of listening to them, and the production is always top notch.
True… but how funny they moved Los Angeles and helped perfect the “LA Sound” ala Eagles, Steely Dan 😊
I'm glad you got to discover my favorite ST song! So soulful and peaceful.
I saw them twice. Their concerts are unforgettable. They sound even better live. The atmosphere they create and their stage presence and the depth of talent just overwhelms you. They are in my top 5 all time bands. 👍🎸🎶🇨🇦
I saw them too in the '70's but I can't remember a thing!...lol I love them but the '70's..'80's...
This album is amazing. Crime of the Century as well.
They are so incredibly tight and well produced.
This is my favorite Supertramp song from my favorite Supertramp album. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it and never tire of it.
Great tune. Please go back to Crime of the Century for Asylum, Hide in Your Shell and Rudy.
Also, on a side note, today would have been Chris Squire's 76th birthday. RIP bass man.
School too
Was waiting to hear, "Took a boat, Sunday..." when it ended !! Great album. What a song !!
🚬😎👍
Yes! L33, please do "Downstream." Beautiful, simple ballad.
@@sourisvoleur4854 Simple, beautiful ? For you, Souris- "Sour Suite" !!

🚬😎👍
Having played clarinet in school, I have a special place in my heart for this one ❤ Beautiful song!!
Symphonic rock. It came out just as disco was taking over . A breath of fresh air. Intelligent introspective and relevant. Much love.
This song has one of the most beautiful openings I've heard heard, especially the clarinet solo.
I’ve always loved this album! Probably the first prog rock album that I ever bought back in the day. Nice Reaction!
Favorite Supertramp song
Same here. I just melt every time...
🚬😎👍
Same here.
One of my 3 favorites, for sure. "The Meaning" would be on the list... and the last spot rotates between "Crime Of The Century," "Soapbox Opera," and "Fool's Overture"
@@johnmavroudis2054 My fave from Crime of the Century is School.
Mine as well. An overlooked gem by most people.
My favorite Supertramp song. 🙂
Supertramp is one of my favorite bands.....certainly from the '70s (along with Genesis).
I remember back in the late 70s, my roommate brought this album home....we put it on the stereo & tripped out. 'Give A Little Bit' was an early favorite, but THIS song has remained a favorite since the late 90s.
Another great Supertramp tune!!
"School", from 1974's 'Crime of the Century', is arguably the best track on that album... It segues into, and is thematically connected to "Bloody well Right", which you've already covered. You owe it to yourself to experience every track on there!
One of my favorite songs by Supertramp! It almost reminds me of YES’s Close to The Edge with the way the tune unfolds!
They both begin with birds chirping.
My favorite!
Cream rises to the surface. This band proves it.
I worked backstage at a play in a community theatre when I took 4 months off between junior college and a university. The second half of the album was used for the music before, during intermission and after the play. Will always take me back to that time. Great music. Crime and Breakfast may get more attention, but this Even In The Quietest Moments will always be my favorite.
Just as a side note, that view beyond the piano is Breckenridge, Colorado and that is an actual photo! Yes, they drug a piano up to those heights. Bizarre but so beautiful.....where are my skis?
Another gorgeous track from them ❤
I agree, my friend! These guys are great.
I love what you're doing here!😁 Supertramp have always been favorites of mine, try anything from Even in the Quietest Moments or Breakfast in America, you won't be disappointed 🤔🤯🐿️😁
Lady, you're Bloody Alright It's Raining Again.
BRAVO! Particularly LOVED your Soul FULL Metaphysical Message and RE-Collections you shared! I'm WITH ya! From beautiful Calgary, Alberta, Canada! Shawn
Glad you enjoyed my friend. So happy you are here! 😊
Love the channel, love the engagement and the depth that you are going through things with. This band. You got it. One of the best of all time IMAO. Hang in. Keep keepin' on, as they said in the past sometime...😀❤❤❤
Just as an aside, I use this song as the alarm music on my phone. It’s a nice gentle and peaceful sound to wake up to that doesn’t just jolt me out of my sleep. Don’t take that as a knock to its quality, it’s a great song.
I love the bass in this song. It might be my second favorite bass playing, after Joe Jackson's I'm the Man.
Aesome, excellent record this! _"Crisis? What Crisis?"_ also a brilliant album :) have fun, Lee!
One of my favorite tracks on this album is "From Now On", a Rick Davies song. Super catchy outro.
This might be Supertramp's most beautiful song. "THE MEANING" could give it a run for the money. Roger Hodgson is such a brilliant songwriter. So much emotion packed into his music... and the production is so pristine. Top 5 Supertramp songs of all-time, for sure. You definitely want to check out "THE MEANING," "RUDY," "SCHOOL," "GIVE A LITTLE BIT," (was a big hit for them), "SOAPBOX OPERA" and "DREAMER."
They just met up in court last week. Roger won a royalty case over Bob, John and Dougie. Roger wanted to play his guitar on the witness stand but the judge wouldn't allow it. Rick settled his part out of court last year.
My favorite song by them that I have yet heard.
There are solo performances that are just Roger Hodgsen and his 12 string guitar that maintains the beauty of this song. I’m a big believer that great songs can be stripped down to the basics and still sound great. This song is a great example of that. Plus he’s playing a beautiful Guild 12er that would be a dream guitar for me
I don't know a solo version of this song but I agree to your opinion about great sounding basics. One wonderful exemple I experienced was Steve Harley who told during a concert about "Tumbling Down" that it was released on the album with orchestra and band and he and Cockney Rebel had always performed it as a band. But he had written it before he was well known and already had performed it as a solo artist in the London tube station. Now he wanted to try if it still worked when he played it alone with his guitar without the support of the band just to find out if it still worked. And did it work? Oh yes, it did. Great stuff is just great stuff.
Great that you reacted to this one. It's one such beautiful gem among Supertramp-songs! Became one of my favourite bands some 40 years ago and remains so!
The song Asylum from the Crime of the Century album, sung by, Rick Davies, builds up at the end into utter desperation.
So much texture, so many layers. Like walking into an Italian delicatessen.
Any band that has both British and American members are peerless.
Even Foreigner held their own during disco.
They have used the oboe before too. Which sounds somewhere between the clarinet and the flute. Yes definitely timeless. Check out their album Crisis, What Crisis?
Love this track it feels it has aboriginal vibes to it.
Yeah, pretty timeless.
When you get to songs on the album "Crisis What Crisis?", there's a song titled "Another Man's Woman" that is phenomenal... but don't let anyone convince you to listen to the LIVE version first. Soak in that piano improvisation leading into the outro segment on the studio track FIRST, please!!!
They are a great band!!!
Breakfast in America is a great album (check it out)
I saw them in Detroit live and they sounded great but concert was very short (we named it the grab the cash and run lol)
Rudy is an excellent song.
Great reaction as usual L33. This is one of my favorite Supertramp songs, so beautiful and heartfelt. Roger Hodgson had a deep interest in spirituality and meditation, and it shows in so many of his compositions. Here's a great version of Roger singing Even in the Quietest Moments with just a 12-string: ua-cam.com/video/HMVBCE468Cc/v-deo.html
Supertramp have ranged from pop to prog-adjacent, but rarely have they been considered straight-up prog. Art rock, more than prog. But this is the kind of pop a lot of progheads can't get enough of.
Sweet song... Good album but I still rate 'Crime' as the best. 'Crisis' gets fewer plays but I think it's an excellent second.
Indelibly stamped is a lesser known but excellent album (imho)
Lover Boy, Babaji and From Now On are some other really good ones off this album
Sound and Vision
Have a listen to "Give a Little Bit"
Their best album.
A beautifully sad song.
I see a good memory behind you ! i can t read it but i know it ! Inagadadavida Iron Butterfly ! long song ! haven t heard that for a long long time ! When you get a turn Table iyou should put it on ? ! 😎
You should check out the track Loverboy from this album great tune
Yes it is. I also like Babaji and From Now On
For me, it's hard to pigeonhole the Tramp as Prog. No doubt they're all great musicians, but the virtuosity is less in the playing - there's no Wakeman/Howe/Squire flash - and more in the studio: without fail, really interesting arrangements flawlessly produced. This track is fascinating because it's basically a drone on the note D, and everything else happens around that. You should listen to Downstream, which is (I think) Rick's masterpiece, just piano and vocals, but (again) recorded SO well it's hard to credit that it's analogue.
'talking drum' is what I've heard it's called...just saying :)
Tull Tuesday returning tomorrow, after a week hiatus? 😊
There wasn't a hiatus. Crest of a knave side 1 was blocked sadly and it is on patreon. Side 2 is going up as we speak:)
They sound like they might have been influenced by Carl Palmer in this one.
I’d forgotten how great a progressive rock band they were- ‘breakfast’ was a commercial success but they lost their way a bit , some of this album is as good as early genesis
I have to admit I am not familiar with this one. My friend and I will get to enjoy a new one together (even though he recorded this last night and has already heard it then ... heh heh)
