      Not necessarily, sometimes it just thereaputic to learn something to occupy some of your idle time, instead of watching UA-cam videos all day long, which by the way isn't that fulfilling.

    The plaintiff apparently was never taught (psychologically) that "you can't control how someone else acts, you can only control how you react." She couldn't control herself in court.

    I can tell the defendant was worried that she was going to have to give back the $1400 to the plaintiff, but the way JM ruled, I think she knew the plaintiff wasn’t going to go back for lessons.

    these 2 were liking the interaction of teacher student and in chatting they got closer and more started talking hypothetically when one said why not do your idea and we can do it together.I will help. Well no good deed goes unpunished. Be careful of those needy instant friends that glob onto you. It never turns out well. And the defendant knew it was a give and receive interaction.

    Wow. Many times litigants will say that the judge didn’t give them a chance to explain or present evidence, but in this case Judge Milian really didn’t give the defendant a chance.
    On top of that, I can’t BELIEVE Bonnie said she couldn’t talk. She talked so much!

    Ridiculous ruling.
    I don't believe for a second that the judge thought they could work together.
    The judge may have felt better not saying the plaintiff was out of luck about her money, but it was loud and clear even before the update.
    The plaintiff is a bit looney as shown when she 'demanded' the defendant come over and thread the machine.
    The defendant comes across as a liar and opportunist proclaiming it was a gift.

      If I asked the person I’m getting lessons from to teach me how to fix a sewing machine and they agree to come over, but then don’t show me and just fix it I’d be annoyed too. I wanted to be shown so I know how to do it. But if it were me, I’d just watch a youtube tutorial lol

    The defendant needed to keep it as a professional venture. Not enlist the plaintiff’s help or unload her personal problems. “You pay, you teach” should have been the only thing happening here. And, the plaintiff should never have agreed to anything more.

    This is not a good ruling 😢 the woman said she was learning as a therapy. Meaning she had some trauma she was trying to work through. Now forcing her to stay in a very uncomfortable relationship is more trauma. She could have made the woman pay back what wasn’t used.
    I love this judge but she missed the mark on this one.
    I think she rushed through the reason the woman needed a hobby which she clearly said in the beginning was therapy

    This case Judge Milian was INCORRECT. The plaintiff did not prepay for classes but invested. How I know this?? because what customer gets a copy of the key to the business? If she gave the money to prepay, she would of never had a key. That is an investment into the business. Unfortunately, the plaintiff wined too much for too long that defendant was not allowed to present evidence of the investment.

    I actually DONT agree with this agreement. No matter the reason she wanted to take the lesson.. the defendant seems to have not held up her end and stared to ask for favours. She should have got her money..if not some back. Forcing them to be together should nog have been the ruling imo.

      I kinda agree.
      Nothing was going to be clean here, but this is exactly why courts usually don’t force specific performance in contracts cases, unless there real estate.
      The court would then likely have to also police a good faith attempt for both sides to complete the contract, knowing at least one party doesn’t want to be there.

    I don't understand her ruling on this case. In the past, the defendant returned money because the judge claimed that it was not a good idea to enforce the contract because of personal conflicts, yet in this case, the judge is not offering a refund , Why?

    Why is everyone so mean toward the plaintiff? No of yall ever needed therapy or have issues? Yall are just so perfect right? The defendant took advantage period. You can tell how she is. And the judge gets paid and gets the attention to help these people with their issues no matter how small. It is small claims court duh. I don’t agree with her making them carry out the lessons. That’s crazy. I’m just not one for treating someone who was clearly taken advantage of, like shit. Hope everyone can take a look inward this new year ❤️
