Fair ruling, plaintiff has been lucky she has had only one complaint about the shower, but a good business person will show full transparency in their listing properties.
Regardless of how folks feel about the defendant and what she should or should not have done, that shower is laughable. The owner really cut expenses there.
Some episodes should put up a warning for those of us who eat snacks when we're watching our favorite shows. Talking about rat droppings and roaches... this case just blew my high and hunger
I loved the People’s court and was so sad when it went off the air. It was filmed in Stanford Connecticut and I live in Connecticut. I live 45 minutes from where it was filmed, so I went to watch the People’s court between 35 to 40 times and what was really nice is while you were in the waiting room to go into the courtroom, they had tons of pizza and a full size refrigerator, full of soda and other drinks for free. What was really nice was after each case, judge Milian would come out and talk to us, and she would ask if anybody had any questions. You could ask her about her life or legal questions, and I learned so much about the law, watching the cases and asking her questions and she is one of the nicest, down to earth, people I’ve ever talked to, and she’s extremely funny, but I do love her new show Justice for the People with Judge Milian but sadly, that one is filmed in California now.
In this case, the defendant remained at the cottage for the whole time, and did not leave earlier. She would have left if it was unbearable , and be entitled for a refund. Stayed the whole time- gotta pay for the use. For the complaints the defendant brings up, she is entitled to not rerent that place again if she wasn’t satisfied. One person may dislike it; others may think it’s great. For the fire damaged pipe, it seems like the defendant caused it. However, the plaintiff should have fixed it herself for cheap, instead of paying good money to a plumber to come out there. Pex piping is cheap.
Shaikh, I completely agree. I do understand that maybe on day one she may not have known she was so disgusted she wanted a complete refund, but it would be known before the last day of the stay. Leaving a note to be discovered by the people cleaning, requesting to pay nothing for the weeks worth of lodging, is not acceptable.
What are u now, the judge smh. Go to law school then we will believe what u say instead of using your intution and emotions....court works with evidence and the plaintiff had no evidence for that burnt pipe.

Not everyone can afford to throw away money with ease
Not to mention that its a cabin by the lake. It's not lived in 24/7. While they should make every effort to be bug and rodent free clearly that bunch doesn't spend time away from the city. If u want the hilton then go stay at the Hilton. Rustic means primitive.
I have a summer house in the woods in upstate NY. It's definitely not rustic, but I have lots of mice. That's just the price of living in the woods. I see wood roaches (not the same as city roaches) only in the fall, when it's starting to get cold and they're looking for a warm place to spend the winter. They can't breed, though, because the centipedes eat their eggs. Hey, it's THE WOODS!
When it's advertised as rustic, it's really rustic. Didn't the renter understand that. I'm surprised it had indoor plumbing. Rustic means it really has no amenities. What was the renter expecting, the Ritz Carlton?
it looks like they just added the shower where it would fit in an older cabin. just either don't look, or you're with family so privacy may not be as "important". just put a board or ceiling on the thing. There actually Really Are places that DON"T have indoor plumbing! Oh, and in the woods there are critters and creepy crawlers, and "cleanliness" dose not necessarily mean "no roaches" they live Everywhere!
I’m losing patience with JM 😐 she never lets folks plead their cases and constantly keep cutting them off. The plaintiff never got a chance to even speak sheesh 🙄
No she just doesn't allow people to use hearsay as evidence. I agree the defendant was ''likely'' in the wrong and the plaintiff was ''likely'' telling the truth, but that is not how court works. Our written law is there for a reason, and you have to prove your case otherwise everyone would just be suing everyone. She doesn't let people just flap their gums without evidence, and I personally agree with that 100%. Let your proof speak for you, otherwise you have no case.
@Ms.C Can you link me to some specific episodes where she favors a ruling based on hearsay? There are tons of episodes I haven't seen yet, but I haven't seen anything you or others complain about. There is a huge difference in you personally disagreeing with her ruling, and her not following the law, so some links would be appreciated!
I think the judge was bias after she saw the shower. She was too hard on the property owner and the owner couldn't get her words out. The renter seemed entitles
That place was disgusting. It's not entitled to expect a place to be clean and the shower thing was a concern when you have other people there with you.
So the plaintiff knows there's mice but doesn't believe that there's roaches too? The face she made when the defendant spoke about the two scurrying roaches was a face of disbelief. You already know if there's holes big enough for mice to get through, then anything smaller with four legs is definitely getting in. Let's not lie to ourselves....🐁 🐜🦗🕷️🐀...😁
She probably does, but she’s also probably not living in a cottage. This isn’t meant to function like a full time home; it’s a rustic property in the mountains.
unfortunately In the North East Rustic Cabins are usually just that a old one room cabin. That the owners. Beleive are a Palace and they are not. If you are lucky you may find one with a loft ,perhaps a Wood stove and a inside bathroom with running water The renter. Is probably best staying at a Marriott hotel and not going the Rustic Route if that’s what she prefers because you won’t find five Star accommodations. In a old Lake house most especially one advertised as a Hunters Cabin the Owners think they have a Palace because over the years the RealEstate Values on those old shacks has Skyrocketed into very high values mainly because of the location and the Solitude often the local Town has. Maybe a gas station ,small grocery store and maybe a Ice Cream stand that’s open Seasonally no big city Franchises or anything similar so many folks are disappointed I personally love. That lifestyle But listening and looking at the renter in court she doesn’t strike me as someone that enjoys roughing it without all her modern conveniences and knows how to. Relax in that. Setting
As bad as this place was, only a Karen demands a full refund after being there for a full week. More proof of Karenness? How about walking down and confronting the lake house people and questioning if they belonged there.
Marilyn Milian is now 60 years old. Who can possibly imagine. She is gorgeous for any woman at any age.. Plus she is very intelligent. A great combination.
My Wife and I rented a Rustic Cabin and I took photos because I had never seen so much Mouse Droppings in my life. The utensil draw was full not just a few.
Why wouldn't the land Lord just put a door on the bathroom!! People need their freaking privacy when taking a freaking shower and using the bathroom.. It's common sense
I love when people Are stupid they agree and don't realise it makes them look stupid, the defendant said "I thought she would have told there would be other people there" and the judge said "well the ad said that" defendant "yes" 🙄🙄🙄
Fair ruling. I'm surprised that there wasnt any mention of the advertisement of 3 bedrooms butvtgere was only 1 bedroom. She did have a right to complain about roach and rat droppings. Also the shower curtain issue. Especially by there being two adult women to adult men who do not want them to look at each other's mates. Also I do understand her approaching a person on the beach to see if they were also in the other house or where they're strangers roaming around. You have to be concerned for your safety. People are crazy. So therefore I think it was a fair ruling.
This was a proper decision as the renters should have been informed about the bathroom/shower issue & thus should have been compensated for that inconvenience. As for the defendant, I understand her dismay about the accommodations but at the same time, she & her party did choose to remain at the property for 7 days & so she definitely needs to pay something for that period.
you rented it, you stayed, you pay. if you left the first or even second day and complained about the mice, and shower, and whatall, Then you can say not paying or go to court. She Stayed The Full Time!!! AND Damaged the place!
ppl are SO city these days!! Who would bring a perv who's going to peek into the shower on them? Mice are required in a cottage like this.... $1,600 for a week is really inexpensive.
Cockroaches are usually a problem in urban city environments, not a rural lake house...there are other insects they may have mistaken for cockroaches. A rustic lake house is a step above camping. Wildlife n rural areas often come into even very pristinely clean lake houses because most of the time there are not people around....field mice, bats, snakes, lizards as well as various insects such as spiders, crickets, and, waterbugs
I was thinking water bugs, too. Could've been any sort of beetle, though. And the defendant was obviously not bothered by whatever it was, as she even admitted to leaving a dead one with her note. 🙄
A few roaches ain't hurting anybody...try renting a spot in the city/hood...lol...plus roaches are everywhere but mice droppings are a heck nawl...! 😂😂😂😂
She said it was gross but they stayed an entire week. You can't stay and then expect all of your money back. Also it wasn't her business to know who else was there.
She rents a rustic hunting cabin. Means it's in the woods. You're going to have mice, cockroaches, and even spiders. Oh my. Leave a house in the woods unoccupied for a few weeks, and you will have a few furry squatters. When I bought my country home, it was vacant for months. I had to evict some past residents. They didn't pay rent, so out they went.
She does need to let people know there is no real privacy for the toilet and shower. I certainly wouldn't rent it, even if I was by myself.
If I'm alone I can't imagine it being an issue.
She didn't mention it because she knew no one would want to rent it at all. I know I prefer my bathroom time to be private and other people too , She just didn't care she wanted money.

@@granitemoss1451 Not 100% certainly, but these old intermittent use vacation cabins are loose construction and do have signs of rodents, cobwebs and bugs. Housekeeping isn't going to pull every dish out of every cabinet and clean it every time. Always clean them yourself before use.
Calling a dump rustic is the oldest trick in the book.
I guess I can rent my tool shed and call it rustic and charge a fortune
😂
I've seen women like this before, They stay then find any excuse to claim money back.Despicable.
The announcer is so petty and EXTRA....I love it!! LOL
Only reason I really watch this show is the intro and Doug snarky behind 🤣😂🤣
@@lindacallazo1818 IKR 😅
I hate it
Fair ruling, plaintiff has been lucky she has had only one complaint about the shower, but a good business person will show full transparency in their listing properties.
Regardless of how folks feel about the defendant and what she should or should not have done, that shower is laughable. The owner really cut expenses there.
Should left sooner all I’m saying
I love how this judge always ask a question and answers it herself....2:02
A clear sign that she, at that point, has already made up her mind.
Some episodes should put up a warning for those of us who eat snacks when we're watching our favorite shows.
Talking about rat droppings and roaches... this case just blew my high and hunger
I was eating kfc 😂😩
True
You get grosses out easy it sounds
I was eating a salad with poppyseed dressing I’m done eating this salad and poppyseeds dressing I was extremely hungry😩
Not your high😡😡
Absolutely no way the owner had the place cleaned. That kind of filth doesn't happen in a few days.
@@RL-rm1cx nor is knowing there are mice and roaches and yet letting people rent your property, do you know how many diseases roaches and mice can carry? as well as their feces? its the woods yes but still doesn't excuse the unsanitary conditions. Also we don't know her situation she might not of been able to afford to find someplace else or maybe she couldn't find another place it was 4th of July after all... Not everyone can afford to throw away money with ease
Only a filthy slob would think its great. What a lovely defendant. People who own those houses are never clean. they just want the rent.
Not to mention that its a cabin by the lake. It's not lived in 24/7. While they should make every effort to be bug and rodent free clearly that bunch doesn't spend time away from the city. If u want the hilton then go stay at the Hilton. Rustic means primitive.
She keeps using these words that most may have never heard to describe that raggedy ass cottage 😂😂😂
For rent , one ghetto fabulous vacation cabin . See woods ,a lake and whoever is taking a shower from the stairs
Sounds awesome to me. Roughin it a bit. Smoke weed drink beer and reminisce about fun times and laugh till it hurts.
@@laniinlove9171 amen to that
I have a summer house in the woods in upstate NY.
Exactly 😂
Finally someone with a Brain
it looks like they just added the shower where it would fit in an older cabin. just either don't look, or you're with family so privacy may not be as "important". just put a board or ceiling on the thing. There actually Really Are places that DON"T have indoor plumbing! Oh, and in the woods there are critters and creepy crawlers, and "cleanliness" dose not necessarily mean "no roaches" they live Everywhere!
Yes I LOVE the Rustic aesthetic...on Pinterest. I’m not staying or eating anywhere “rustic” 😩
Maybe not the Ritz Carlton but something better than the rat and roach motel would have been sufficient
They might have shot fireworks on the 2nd or 3rd. Kids always want to do that. Surprised the judge went along with “late on the 4th”.
I’m losing patience with JM 😐 she never lets folks plead their cases and constantly keep cutting them off. The plaintiff never got a chance to even speak sheesh 🙄
She is always so weird acting like on drugs !
Nobody is forcing you people to watch her show. There are a billion other things you can watch. IJS
Holy cow. I thought I was the only one who thought so. She's cute and all but a crappy, biased judge.
😍
Definately. If it was so horrible, why stay there. Forget the "everywhere was booked" bs.
It’s the woods .. of course there are mice which is why you don’t rent that cabin because people are never clean and food crumbs attract them in
Maybe they were lighting fireworks before the 4 th ? Like most groups of people in a area that allows them?
The plaintiffs sister looks so embarrassed to be standing there lol.
That sounds fair, between the mice droppings and the road I've been gone first day. No thank you
I bet the old lady has a shower with 4 walls and a door in HER house.😛
Setting
Karen Alert bad! The entitlement never ceases to amaze me...
Blocking people from being able to see into the bathroom/is a very easy fix!
Defendant stayed 7 days. If it were that bad.....
Exactly
As bad as this place was, only a Karen demands a full refund after being there for a full week. More proof of Karenness? How about walking down and confronting the lake house people and questioning if they belonged there.
The defendant looks untrustworthy, and borderline criminal.
What? She is very pretty. You jealous?
LMFAO.
The Cabin in the Woods.
It’s a rustic camp for crying out loud!
“Rustic” in real estate is an interesting term.
Marilyn Milian is now 60 years old. Who can possibly imagine. She is gorgeous for any woman at any age.. Plus she is very intelligent. A great combination.
Yeah....I highly doubt they waited until 4th evening to start their fireworks.
The fingerlakes? LMAO....I immediately thought of The Office tv show.
I live in the Finger Lakes area of NY. Makes me wonder where it is.
You should check it out
It's the same as eating a meal and telling the waiters the food was gross and want their money back. She's that person.
Yeah average white petty mom thinks everything needs to be perfect
My Wife and I rented a Rustic Cabin and I took photos
because I had never seen so much Mouse Droppings
in my life. The utensil draw was full not just a few.
The defendant is entitled, and I don't believe anything she said. Obviously people let off fireworks before the 4th.
Definitely at a cabin! I'm lighting off fireworks the whole time lol
The bigger question is why does Judge Milian light fireworks all year around. That sounds really exciting!!!
She must live on a lake and do them over the lake sometimes.
She has zero proof they caused the fire but neither do the defendant have proof they didn't make th e mess or dirt either
Put a door on your Bathroom dude like wtf lmao !! I don’t wanna see my mama drop a 💩
Omg! I thought it was a Mother/Daughter case when I saw a pic of the thumbnail
Stacy came in there mad as hell😂😂
Yes my brother, one roach and we out 😂
It's the girl on the defendant's side upper left-hand corner falling asleep for me! LOL!
Anytime I hear Fingerlakes, I thinking about Dooneese and the Maharelle sisters from SNL.
😂 same here!
It's a cabin in the woods, at a lake. There will be bugs and rodents.
Judge - "So when you are naked and taking a shower, anybody going up and down the stairs can see you. Do you have pictures of what you are saying" LOL
you rented it, you stayed, you pay. if you left the first or even second day and complained about the mice, and shower, and whatall, Then you can say not paying or go to court. She Stayed The Full Time!!! AND Damaged the place!
ppl are SO city these days!! Who would bring a perv who's going to peek into the shower on them? Mice are required in a cottage like this.... $1,600 for a week is really inexpensive.
By depriving people of the chance to even speak sheesh, by telling people that they can’t prove, anybody can be a judge.
It was roaches and it's the country making it über nasty.
Agreed. I don’t think roaches are typical for a wooded lake house.
I was thinking water bugs, too. Could've been any sort of beetle, though. And the defendant was obviously not bothered by whatever it was, as she even admitted to leaving a dead one with her note. 🙄
All she has to do is put an enclosure on the stairway instead of balustrades. You could do it in a few hours! GEEZ.
Good idea!
There was at least an eighth of an inch of grease under that microwave. I would’ve left INSTANTLY just from that alone.
The judge said she shoots fireworks all year long. What?
A few roaches ain't hurting anybody...try renting a spot in the city/hood...lol...plus roaches are everywhere but mice droppings are a heck nawl...! 😂😂😂😂
The defendant was well spoken
Body language says the defendant knows all about the fire that damaged the pipe.
Why is that bathroom like that? Why would she rent that place out like that. SMH
The defendants hair is GORGEOUS
She said it was gross but they stayed an entire week. You can't stay and then expect all of your money back. Also it wasn't her business to know who else was there.
She rents a rustic hunting cabin. Means it's in the woods. You're going to have mice, cockroaches, and even spiders. Oh my. Leave a house in the woods unoccupied for a few weeks, and you will have a few furry squatters. When I bought my country home, it was vacant for months. I had to evict some past residents. They didn't pay rent, so out they went.
How can you stay in a place like that for a week and then expect all of your money back.
16:51 the way her sister is laughing, it seems they have some funny memories about that bathroom 🤣🤣
My family thinks I'm in the Finger Lakes right now but I just came down to take this interview...
