Mark addresses the 7 most common complaints that users of these medications report. He approaches the topic from a patient perspective, having lost 70 lbs in the past 7 months with the help of semaglutide.

Had RNY in 2011 and lost 100lbs. I did it because I was getting more and more diabetes meds added on. I went into remission for about 3 years before diabetes returned even with the weight loss. I have now been on Ozempic for two years and following a low carb to no carb diet. My BMI weight should be 96lbs. Down to 104lbs now. But I still have to practice TRE, 16/8 eating cycle to keep my glucose low. Ozempic makes it doable. Hope someday I will figure this all out and be drug free.

The reason it's making headlines is because the FDA added a new warning to the Ozempic label. FDA said the medication will now include a warning about potential intestinal blockage. That legal warning was also added to the weight loss drug Wegovy, which is made by the same manufacturer as Ozempic.Oct 4, 2023. ( i think it is more dangerous for people that have bariatric surgery because our autonomy is already changed by the surgery)!
I have the medicine coming, but I’m so scared to take it so therefore it was a hope that was shot down for me .

hello I just found your channel so i first wanted to say congrats and thanks! I also wanted to reply... i have been on MJ for 5 months... A1C is regulated and down 35 lbs. I DO think the slower you lose the better off your skin is... I have not experienced OZ face or MJ butt lol! I prioritize protein ... but i know my water intake and strength training has to improve as well. Lastly... I do believe that some will be able to get off of a form of glp1. it depends on their level of insulin resistance in the first place. Many of my friends who have reached maintenance take a shot 2x per month or 1x per month along with berberine and that cuts the cost. I am 5 lbs away from my 1st maintenance goal of 180. I want my skin to have a chance to catch up to the weight loss. I will focus more on strength training and in the spring focus on my last 15lbs as my goal weight is 165lbs. I also use the waist to height calculator as my metric and not the BMI... thanks again

I tried Victoza and then Ozempic. I could not continue the treatment because of the nausea they caused which was unbearable and more importantly my mind went to a very dark place !
Shame because otherwise it does work well as an appetite suppressant.

I'm sorry to hear that, but glad you had the wisdom to get off of it when it started messing with your mind. I consider myself very fortunate that I haven't had any negative side effects at all. I'm genuinely sorry it didn't work out for you.

Thank you Mark. I followed your journey and I like your advice. I think that I have no other option but to undergo gastric bypass surgery. I have tried everything to lose my excess weight but after my mid 30's that became impossible .

I’m new to the channel, i saw that you had a bypass 3-4 years ago. Im guessing youve gained some weight back hence the reason you are on semaglutide? Also what would be better? Im considering getting a gastric sleeve, but if the weight is going to come back on with 3-5 years then would it be better to semaglutide? My insurance covers neither, it seems like in the long run semaglutide will cost more than bariatric surgery.

I did have some regain but was maintaining an 80 lb loss. My bariatric surgeon is the one who put me on semaglutide to help me lose what I had regained. In terms of total weight loss and maintenance, bariatric surgery will always beat semaglutide in both the short and long term. Gastric bypass has better long-term results than gastric sleeve, btw. Even though there is usually some regain with both, it's much less with the bypass than the sleeve.

I had gastric sleeve surgery 2 years ago but was not able to lose more than 40 pounds. I can feel my hunger creeping back especially because I have a very active lifestyle so I've decided to try Ozempic. I got a prescription from my doctor but haven't filled it yet and was curious if people with former weight loss surgery are able to get away with taking less of the medication because of the reduced stomach size?

I was on the lowest dose for over a year and just bumped up to 1.0. I have had times where I did not take it and maintained. One bout of nausea at the beginning but I didn’t attribute it to Ozempic. Didn’t know it was a side effect…LOL

I think staying on 2.5 for maintenance. But, most will gain the weight back if they don’t change lifestyle and quit eating processed garbage foods.
