Semaglutide (Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro and Zepbound) are currently the most effective treatments on the market to treat obesity outside of bariatric surgery, but they aren’t without their problems. Mark addresses the 7 most common complaints that users of these medications report. He approaches the topic from a patient perspective, having lost 70 lbs in the past 7 months with the help of semaglutide.

Hell no ! thank god I’m able to control myself and fast. no way man that sounds awful cutting your stomach like that and losing weight only due to the recovery and after shock. Just kill me if I end up at 300 pounds and needing this procedure.

I hate that we come here to be encouraged and instead, when looking through the comments, we have these miserable people trying to scare the crap out of us because they are the minority that didn't do well in the surgery. Yes, I know complications can be a thing, but statistics show the benefits far outweigh the potential risks that happen to very few people. It sounds like some people are just miserable and want us to be too.

Hi there . I just found your channel , and yes my only complaint was I wish I did it sooner lol ! I cancelled my surgery twice because I was beyond scared .It took me 5 years to commit . What a waste !! I’m 65 now and I had Rouxny 5 1/2 years ago . I started at 235 and lost 105 pounds . I’m only 5’2 !!im so happy I did it but now comes the crappy part….. I was fine until covid . I made banana bread and started drinking wine ( never drank much before) so I slowly gained 12 pounds . Now I’ve gained 30 pounds all together and am desperate to loose it . I have a bad problem of not wanting to eat until later evening ….. bad bad bad ! So I cut down on the wine and started Ozempic ( I figured if it’s good for Oprah , it’s good for me lol ) so here I am 3 weeks into Ozempic and my fear is real once again hoping it’s going to work . Don’t have big side effects yet just a bit nauseous sometimes and have some acid issues . Hopefully it will subside . Sorry I talk so much but I’m sure you and your lovely wife understand totally . Good luck on your life journey 😘Happy to have found you both .

I know this video is 3 years old at this point, but came across it since I am getting my bypass sooon (less than 2 weeks!) and have been looking into a lot of videos to feel some reassurance and listen to what other patients have to say about their experience. This has been by far one of my favorite videos so far. You sir, moved me to tears with your words. I am now much more happy about my decision and ready to give it my 100%. I hope you and your wife are living the healthiest and best version of this lifetime!

I feel you. I’m having a revision of the gastric sleeve to the bypass next week due to severe acid reflux. Nervous….. this was unexpected. But my surgeon says the bypass takes care of any acid reflux. Hoping for the best. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Had RNY in 2011 and lost 100lbs. I did it because I was getting more and more diabetes meds added on. I went into remission for about 3 years before diabetes returned even with the weight loss. I have now been on Ozempic for two years and following a low carb to no carb diet. My BMI weight should be 96lbs. Down to 104lbs now. But I still have to practice TRE, 16/8 eating cycle to keep my glucose low. Ozempic makes it doable. Hope someday I will figure this all out and be drug free.

The people agianst the surgery have never been 590 pounds yo yoing back and forth 100 pounds at a time. I realy did give it my best shot before choosing this so they can get on board or get out of my life!

I was going to get bariatric surgery in 2010 but I backed up because I was too young and I wasn’t obese and I was already in the process of getting it done I had done the test, the classes and etcc and was this close to get my surgery but I changed my mind but I did my research about bariatric surgery, wls, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now till this day my dr still offers me bariatric surgery 😊

I had gastric sleeve surgery 2 years ago but was not able to lose more than 40 pounds. I can feel my hunger creeping back especially because I have a very active lifestyle so I've decided to try Ozempic. I got a prescription from my doctor but haven't filled it yet and was curious if people with former weight loss surgery are able to get away with taking less of the medication because of the reduced stomach size?

    • @punkin60

I was on the lowest dose for over a year and just bumped up to 1.0. I have had times where I did not take it and maintained. One bout of nausea at the beginning but I didn’t attribute it to Ozempic. Didn’t know it was a side effect…LOL

Just found your channel. Both you and I started off at 440lbs. I had the sleeve performed on Nov 8, 2023 and have lost 75lbs as of Jan 27, 2034. No dumping, but pay the price should I eat/swallow too fast. I do encounter runny nose, hiccups or sneezing after eating. Challenge for me is getting my water in. I now make a 50/50 mix of filtered water with PRIME electrolyte. As for eggs, I can only do one egg and it has to be scrambled with Ricotta cheese. As for exercise, all I can do is walking (when my knee does not hurt, which is caused from dehydration.)

If you're only 40 lbs overweight, I'd probably recommend looking into semaglutide (Ozempic or Wegovy) or tirzepatide (Mounjaro or Zepbound) rather than getting the surgery. I was struggling with regain after the surgery and now I'm on semaglutide and it has helped me drop about 70 lbs so far.

I had weight loss surgery and I don't regret it im 6'4 im down to 230 and people say I look great. I see a different, Im off all my meds. The things I hate about it. Is i Have to force my self to eat to get my protein intake for the day. Second thing is I still have trouble eating a lot of different foods. Like pasta, steaks, chicken any solid meats. If its a soft meat like ground meat I can eat but its true you wont be able to eat like you use to. weird thing you can drink water or any liquids while you eat. Its weird but i do dump if i eat and sip a little water. I eat my food then have to wait 5 to 10 mins before i take a sip of liquids. Its been a little a year and I have NOT ate a burger. I eat 60 eggs less then 2 weeks. I buy expensive protein shakes that have 42 grams of protein. I try to force my self to eat because you forget you are hungry. So its a mission to make 2 eggs to shove it down your mouth to get your protein in. Yes you do get cold a lot. I live where it snows and I use to never wear a jacket now its 60 to 70 degrees and im freezing and need a jacket. Another thing that wasn't mention Is the life change. My family loves to eat. and I never get invited to dinner any more because I'm not part of the eating frenzy. My mom understand a little bit more how I feel. she try's to understand but really she has no clue that if you eat to much its painful or certain foods like pasta that goes n stomach and will expand once in the stomach. You really need to understand what you are doing before you do this surgery. Do I have regrets NO!! and im in the same boat i wish i would of done it 20 years earlier. Not wait tell i was close to 50. A year and im still dropping weight not as fast but if I don't force my self to eat I can drop 5 to 10lbs in about 2 weeks. Its crazy. I force my self to eat 1200 to 1400 calories. But if I don't force my self to eat i eat around 800 calories. I never thought it would be a choir to eat, Every one have a great day. Its worth it if you are on the boarder. It took me 2 years before I told my doctor I agree to do this life changing surgery

I had my gastric bypass surgery in September 2023. Hair loss is real ... I too regret not having surgery sooner. One complaint I have is chronic constipation. Advice to anyone considering WLS ... There is no way to fully prepare yourself for what post op will be like. You can attend all the support groups, etc. that you want. Every person will have their own "what it is really like" experience. I'm not trying to discourage you. I just want you to know that it gets real after surgery. Everyone's journey is so different. My wife and I had surgery about a month apart back in 2019. Hi so happy for you that you can handle this meds. Are you still doing good? You look great! I had the shots coming but i got scared to take shot due to new warning FDA added a new warning to the Ozempic label. FDA said the medication will now include a warning about potential intestinal blockage. That legal warning was also added to the weight loss drug Wegovy, which is made by the same manufacturer as Ozempic.Oct 4, 2023

The reason it's making headlines is because the FDA added a new warning to the Ozempic label. FDA said the medication will now include a warning about potential intestinal blockage. That legal warning was also added to the weight loss drug Wegovy, which is made by the same manufacturer as Ozempic.Oct 4, 2023. ( i think it is more dangerous for people that have bariatric surgery because our autonomy is already changed by the surgery)! I have the medicine coming, but I’m so scared to take it so therefore it was a hope that was shot down for me .

I am unsure that first comment is true. I think it may depend on the individual. My aunt and cousin both did it and it made them all skinny and they have kept it off. They did more than just diet though. I noticed they exercise regularly now and when I see them at family gatherings they stuck to intentional low portions. I think that is just them keeping themselves in check. I am so proud of all of them.

In hind sight I wish I got the surgery for I was around 300 lbs at 30 with a wife 3 kids and everything with it by time I was 40 I was 330 and by 50 got to highest weight of 349. Dieting I could down to 275 then I would stall on weight loss and I would fail my diet and go back to 330. I'm 67 years old now had right knee replaced 3 times in past 24 years. A stent and cardiac ablation in past ten years back surgery last year. And I'm getting gastric sleeve soon for all pretesting done and I'm 67 years old I lost 50 lbs walking 3 miles every other day and intermittent fasting I'm down to 280 and stalled as always at this weight so hoping and praying I can use the sleeve to get below the 275 mark. I was 205 when married at 22. I can think of many reasons to get the procedure at your age for my health issues totally from trying to live as a 300 lbs plus weight man. God bless and good luck.

This not true, one of the side effects is reduced appetite if you can’t carb your hunger cravings once off it then you will gain weight back. But if you can monitor and stay in calorie deficit and live a more active lifestyle you WILL NOT GAIN THE WEIGHT BACK
