- In this Bratislava Public Transportation guide, I am going to show you how to get around Bratislava as a tourist and give you tips on how to easily see the tourist attractions using public transportation.
Bratislava is the capital city of Slovakia. A small but very beautiful country in the heart of Europe.
If you are planning to see Bratislava in the future or curious about what you can see in this city, check out my blog post where I wrote about the top spots to see in Bratislava.
Also, I made a video on a one-day walking tour in Bratislava Old Town that you can watch and see what are the things you can do and see in Bratislava.
It is also important to know that there are four major terminals that will be your Entry and Exit point in Bratislava, and they are:
Bratislava International Airport
Hlavna Stanica or the Main Station
Petrzalka Stanica or the Petrazalka Station
Autobusova Stanica or the Main Bus Station
From these terminals, the connection to the center of Bratislava is really easy.

I was born in bratislava but here I am on youtube watching a guide on our public transport.
Take it as a refresher 😂😂

Thank you for showing us how to buy a ticket for public transportation. I was born in Bratislava, but do not live there for 46 years. So when I ask, people are looking at me in a strange way. Every city in every part of the world has its own rules and it is not easy to know them all. Also thank you for showing me my old country. Through your videos, I can show my friends from all over the world and relatives from Brazil, how people live in Slovakia. Thank you very much.
Thanks Miro. I am very happy to be living in Slovakia and it is funny because a lot of foreigners I met have a misconception about Slovakia. They didnt know that it is a beautiful country in the heart of Europe, so I am happy making these videos :)
Fun fact: there's a new bus station, and it's basically a mall that just happens to have a bus station underground, it even has a "green roof" on the top where you can relax in an artificial garden.
Yuo! The Nivy Mall!
Som pyšná na Slovensko! Síce nebyvam v Bratislave ale super veci su všade po Slovensku!
I have just returned from Bratislava, and can only confirm that public transport is the cheapest and most convenient way to get around the city, the busses, trams and trolley busses are not only clean and comfortable and very cheap, but you will only be waiting a few minutes if you miss a connection. They also have air conditioning on hot days. A wonderful city to explore with many interesting, beautiful and historic buildings, parks and public areas, and many affordable, good quality restaurants and eateries; as well as conveniently situated to visit Austria approximately 45 minutes from Vienna. ( also well worth a visit )
I haven't been to Slovakia, but I heard much exciting stuff about Slovakia from my Law School classmate, a native Slovakian.
Its a beautiful country 😍
Thank you for your video that is very helpful. I am currently contemplating a move to Bratislava and was wondering about the transportation system as I wasn't sure where I wanted to live. It looks like you can get pretty much anywhere in Bratislava. That is awesome!
Thank you! Im glad this video was helpful. I hope you will watch more of my videos in the future 😄
I would highly recommend you do... I am also considering this very much.
I am heading to Bratislava in January 2024. Thank you for a very informative video Kimberly.🇮🇪👍
welcome! May you enjoy Bratislava 😊
Thank you so much for showing how to use the ticket machine and mentioning all the important stops in Slovak and in English. Very useful video!
Happy New Year Chasing and all good I wish you from my heart
Happy New year too! I hope 2021 will be better year for us all :)
Yes true. Take care.
It was great! Many thanks!
U know more about Slovakia then I do and I born here 😂
Haha No, that is impossible 😂
Aj ja som sa z tohoto videa naučil používať MHD 😂
Skvelé video!❤️👍🏼✨❄️
Ďakujem pekne 🙏☺️
I can't find words, thanks
This is such an information and useful video! Thank you so much!
Great video, very informative. Good job!
Love it
Thank you for the video, very helpful. :)
Welcome 💚
One small thing to warn foreigners about
DO NOT take a parked taxi - the cost of the ride doubles. If it is a private taxi and not from a firm , it is even higher
Always call a taxi on the phone or use the BOLT/HOP-IN apps
Hello Taxi and Happy Taxi had operators that spoke english.
Yes i forgot to mention this in my video. Thanks for the point. 😉👍🏽
Great! Hoping to.visit in September (from Budapest) on a day trip. Thank you
Very informative. Thanks
welcome!
Were here in nove mesto slovakia right now maam, sana ma pasyal mo kami dyan 🙂😍

Glad it was helpful!
@@ChasingKimberly i’m here I made it to Bratislava. I watched your video again to get up to speed on the transport. Again, thank you very much for making this video.❤
Thanks for the video! If you want to buy 2 tickets at the same time, have to click the button twice? Thanks in advance
Super! Konečne to budem poznať keď tam budem chcieť ísť na výlet!
Ďakujem pekne určite budem cestovať keď to všetko skončí . Aj Tatry aj východ . 💚💚💚🙋🏽♀️

Life Saving Video for Visitors 🙏 Thank you so much. I want to ask are there any more Taxi services than Uber? BEAT or BOLT or HOPIN? Is it easy to get them or are they e.g. crowded?
I live in Bratislava!
Slovakia?
@@Elficeeek Yes, Slovakia (Ano, Slovensko)
Aj ja
@@Elficeeek ja bývam na východe takže sa tam asi nedostanem na výlet keď tá hnusná corona je, nemôžem sa dostať ani do iného okresu 😅😅

Hi!! I am traveling to Bratislava from Vienna and getting off at MOST SNP. Is there a machine there to buy a ticket? I was originally wanting to walk from there to my hotel (Hotel Taxis) but not sure if that’s a good idea with a luggage in tow!! Lol Seems like the route I’d be taking from SNP is mostly sketchy. Lol
Thank you in advance!
Sl: Si lepšia a lepšia v slovenskom jazyku ako ja
Eng: You getting better and better Slovak laughting then me LOL
haha ďakujem 😉😉
Discount tickets include tourist?
How do I use a mobile ticket???
There's an app "IDS BK - cestovné lístky a vyhľadávač spojení". Does it work? If yes, you should direct people to it instead of paper tickets...
Thank you for the video. Which ticket do you recommend for a tourist that covers all the major touristy spots for 24 or 48 hours as i am confused about the zones
Also which touristy spots do you recommend is a must visit if i have two days and am traveling with family with 3 year old kid
Its easy. Zone 100 is city centre and biggest projects/kvartals like Petržalka or Ružinov and 101 are city outskirts. Anything else is basically suburb or nearby town/village.
The bus stops are a bit inaccurate, some are true but there are stops closer to some destination, I'll pin-point some here:
To castle: 1. Hrad (203, 207) from the front of castle 2. Zochova (31, 39, 84, 83, 93, 94, 80 and 147) from down bellow in City Centre, but you can also walk from 3. Most SNP [Bridge of Slovak National Uprising, the one with the UFO] and its a bit shorter than from Zochova (lines for the bridge: 4, 30, 37, 88, 91, 191, 29, 70, 50 and some international lines to Vienna and Hamburg)
The left bank of Danube and the Danube promenade: 1. Most SNP (already said) 2. Nám. Ľ. Štúra (1, 4) 3. Šafarikovo Námestie (1, 4, 3, 29, 50, 70)
Presidential palace: 1. Hoďžovo Námestie (203, 207, 212, 147, 93, 84, 83)
Slavín War Memorial: (147 directly under it) and 5 minute walk distance 2. Búdkova (203, 207, 41, 147)
And that's only some of them, I'll write more down under this comment
Eurovea shopping centre
1. Nové SND (29, 210, 78)
To city centre you can use many bus stops, the closest is Námestie SNP renamed Centrum (City Centre) (1, 4, 3) and you can use also Zochova and Jesenského renamed SND (1, 4)
As well as many on the Danube Promenade, like Most SNP and Šafarikovo námestie
Fun tip: use mainly the red and black modern trams, you'll get more information and WiFi in them 😃 the same goes to buses, use mainly the one with 5 doors or the modern Solaris buses to Airport, same luxury and in the Solaris buses also a luggage place in the bus as well as fast WiFi and time of departure on the next stops with what lines go there 😁 The younger the vehicle the better comfort in travelling 😉
Anu po bang botton s ticket machine ang papaunta sa mga mall like euroviea...pacenca n po 1st time sa Europe..
And on and to the suburbs, is the city well conected?
I believe yes, Trains and buses have regular trips 😉
Im here for 17 years to this day i dont know how to travel in BA ( Bratislava) if im not counting just walking from point A to point B so nice 😜
haha well, the city is walkable, I don't even remember last time I rode a bus or tram 🤣🤣
@@ChasingKimberly in these times is hard to travel in every way u know Corona timeeee xD
How can I get to Old Town from the airport using the public transport?
Is the transport system same in Nitra too?
Similar but without trams i think.
How much will transport cost for a student per month
The city and its surroundings are divided into zones. Almost the whole of Bratislava is in zone 100 + 101 and a student travel ticket for 30 days costs only 13,45€.
@@natillask thank you Elena...❤️💪
I dunno what you meant by Petrzalka station, you sure showed only Main Train station which is in centre :D Petrzalka as a city part have a station too, but there are many more stations or train stops, Like Vinohrady station, Rača station, Železná studnička etc. And btw Petrzalka station looks much better than that shitty Main station :) :D
U meant Petržalka?
Hello Kim.. want to ask which city u are living in Slovakia?
Bratislava :)
@@ChasingKimberlythanks for the reply.. I'm filipina too living here in Slovakia.
@@emelynkozmenko77 a ja by som zas radšej na Filipíny...
What is the 15min on the ticket? Does that mean you van only use it in the next 15 minutes and after, it expires?
yes!
@@ChasingKimberly thanks
I wanna go on a trip to bratislava but it will be a long way and its corona... I cant leave the "okres" bcs im in okres Sabinov... Yo but sometimes maybe... I go there it will be like 7 hours to go there... But idc
I hope someday you will be able to see Bratislava :)
Lístky možno treba ak ideš do centra cez špičku. Revízora v autobuse som už dosť dlho nestretla a to MHDčkou chodím celkom dosť.
Vo svete je bezne, ze sa plati, lebo nieco pouzivam, nie preto ze ma niekto chyti.
