- In this episode, we find ourselves in the outskirts of Phoenix, Arizona. Things kick off at basecamp, in our Winnebago Revel, and then I head off in the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to explore the backcountry in search of a good cross-country route. I discover some interesting features in the desert, spend the night with cheeseburgers at a scenic campsite. Then, the next day some challenging terrain puts the Jeep to the test!

This is what I enjoy about your videos... You keep it real... No editing out all of the short comings or mishaps. I also appreciate your candid approach to off- roading. I have certainly pick up a few tips by watching your videos. Thanks for your dedication to content and keeping it real. Happy Holidays and safe travels. Perry
I always love watching you and Orangie on your adventures. Seeking warmth to keep away from the cold is a constant mission for Canadians. LOL!
‘Dead ends are just new beginnings’. So true. Backtracking means I get to see the path I have traveled from a totally new perspective. And so often I encounter amazing new sights!
If nothing else… a skid to protect your oil pan and the transmission cooler lines serves well. I have one made by MORE. Haven’t needed it many times, but glad I had it when I needed it.
We have a brand new front skid plate you're more than welcome to. It has never been out of the box, but the box looks like crap from getting wet. We are in Tucson if you're interested.
Thanks for sharing your advantures!
Chris always fun riding along.
I am happy to just touch bases ,dont need to live with the guy. If he has more to say or show ,I can be happy with that,he isnt the only one out there.he has a life
I too have challenged the limits of my comfort zone while 4 wheeling in my Jeep. I also prefer not to get in stressful situations, but sometimes you just have to roll with it.
Always enjoy your fantastic photography and places you visit. You gotta log allot of miles backtracking to pick up those cameras. Lots of great effort to bring us the essence of the trip. Thanks for going that extra mile Chris. Your in my backyard now.....but did not recognize any of the spots you stopped. So many trails to ride.....grin.
you have some of the best desert overland videos around man. If anyone can recommend other videos in the southwest thatd be great
Arizona has obstacles and scenery that are second to none. The are harder to locate than Moab, often hidden up tight canyons. Try Florence Junction, Four Peaks, and Log Corral Canyon.
👍👍👍👍👍, You got to love AZ countryside.
FYI: You don't need to up-armor... much. LCA and shock skids, and put some decent pumpkin covers on. I imagine a UHMB slider on that fuel tank would be just fine for you. Cheap, light, and effective for an overlander.
Always love the videos. Orangie was a major inspiration for me getting my own JK, "Jeepy," a few years back. Even though I am now lucky enough to have my own adventures, I still learn a lot watching yours.
Outstanding video videography!🤘🏻
Hey, Hey, Hey I say Keep on Trucking, Trucking your blues away......
A great route . . . kind of 'white knuckled' with you on the garden patch . . . on the edge there
Aww Man. Just missed you by a day or 2. I was out wheeling with my uncle in that area on Saturday.
Dude! that burger was a real MacMayor !
Another enjoyable video!
Good on you Chris. I hope my Gladiator lasts as long as Orangie!
Thanks for the video. Also, thanks for the tutorial on how to get through rough terrain without a spotter. A less experienced driver would probably have broken something in that rough patch.
looks great. always..
Love the videos of the desert!
Excellent video work! Thanks for sharing..........
great video
Great video and inspiration to get out there..
Thanks Chris
I know which channel that shirt is from! Chris you have inspired me to get my own off road/tiny home set up! I hope to do a lot more traveling next year! Keep on trucking!
Got ketchup? Lol. Good video Chris!
I was about to ask if you thought the Revel could do that trail, and then you got to the rock garden.....
Welcome back to Arizona. Enjoy our .... rain!?
Safe travels
Great video really enjoyed it
Great video thank you!
I keep a fj40 in mesa,
It rocks here in the S.W.
Great to see you back in our ‘hood! If you have time and head to the east valley area, check out the Bulldog Canyon Trail just south of the Lower Salt River. It’s part of Tonto National Forest land. Safe travels!
Thanks Chris! Did I see Orangie with tire dressing on? 😮🤠😀
Smooth😅 Chris that’s a very loud power steering unit. Lol been listing to it for a couple years now. I injoy ur vids. But your turning into a warm lander. But it was 8- here this am. Lol. Carrie on.
It’s the transfer case in low range.
@@grahameroberts8109 I believe its the PS pump, he topped it off last volg I think and it almost stopped. Nice to know a JK's PS pump can go on the fritz for years before failure.
@@grahameroberts8109 I think so too. My Jeep sounds exactly like this when I'm in 4L.
Transfer case.
Awesome scenery and vid Chris, however comment section a little boring this week😆🤣🤣🤣 keep up the good work man! 😉👍🏻
Great video! Do you mind me I asking if you are running C or E rated KO2 tires? Trying to decide for my next set. Thank you in advance!
Nice
So that is where Wilson the volleyball ended up
Another great video Chris. Proud to be a patron :). Safe travels you two!
Did I hear right that you use Gaia GPS?

A little punctuation goes a long way. That was though to read at the end.
Enjoy your videos, but I always wonder exactly where you are. I live in the Phoenix area & think I recognize some of the trails. Would you mind sharing details? FR designations would be cool. Thx

@@DarkSkyOverland Thanks for the info.
@@jsmckillop64 You’re welcome.
any recommandation for moab im new be here
Just curious and this question might have been explained in previous episodes I missed. When venturing out solo, how do you make shots following the Jeep moving on, e.g., around 2:00 in the video?
Thanks!
This can be accomplished with certain settings within his camera, through his editing software or a combination of both.
Chris I really enjoyed this weeks video, ok I enjoy them all…
They’ll always be those folks that want something more, why’d you do that when you should of done this. The identifier that comes to mind is “arm chair quarterback”…
Stay safe and if you’re headed towards Las Cruces I’d love to meet up with you and Shannon .
The Rubicon comes with skid plates where you need them. Transfer case and gas tank. Just keep in mind where the oil pan and diffs are.
Welcome back to Arizona, hopefully this year if you come back to Tucson you’ll allow me to show you some great trails or allow me to collab with you and guide you on some trails ?...
Okay complainers, is a twenty minute video better or is that too long?
13 minutes or 20 minutes, is this redunant desert footage okay for you?
@@jjjeee346 I know! Unacceptable! I might not be able to get out of bed in the morning.
Lol. I'm just someone that pops into these videos from time to time, but the constant bitching about length of videos, Shannon, his channel isn't the same, etc. crack me up everytime.
@@JamesSmith-uc8tk it’s like giving someone a chocolate chip cookie and they complain that there’s not enough chocolate chips.
This is good for overnight, used to be great for 5 days. Forgive me I long for what used to be great.
The AZ desert can get nasty, like right now.
I wish I could contribute as a Patreon, I really enjoy your videography and explorations. So subscribed and mashing the like button is my only “contribution”. Enjoy living while we’re all still here !
You always put the ketchup on the meat side, never on the bun. You ruined the whole meal.
A “content” video from home base. Huh, ok . . Or was it, get me the f out of home base 🤣
I’ve been watching your videos for years. You were my first utuber. I feel that now all you want to do is sell information. I think ill unsubscribe.
