V16E8: Shakedown Run in West Virginia

- The first proper adventure in our renewed Jeep! This week, we venture into West Virginia to one of my favorite destinations in Monongahela National Forest. We opt for familiar terrain this week to have an experience with our friends, Family Adventures Overlanding, in their very well thought out, 2007 Ram Power Wagon. This episode features scenic forest roads, ridiculously photogenic waterfalls, and possibly some of the best food you've ever seen on venture4wd. (I'll admit, the bar is low, but trust me!)

I feel like I just came back to the channel with a Chris classic in the first 2 minutes. Good Times!
LOVED this Chris! This kind of video is why I started watching you. Jeep living, cooking and beautiful trees...awesome video. So glad to see you back in Orangie. What a great setup.
I did that trail with Mountain State Overland last fall. We stacked all of those rocks at that wash out. It took us awhile to move all of those rocks and stack them. I liked that trail.
Roll with the punches Guys!! Chris, your content is as fluent as anyones especially considering the changes life's thrown at you in the last year or so....one of the few I keep watching....thanks!
Glad to see the new engine purring along. A rough cost estimate of the engine work done would be interesting to all of us with higher mileage vehicles.
Be safe and stay well.
Thank you for showing the east coast a little love! I know we don't have the wonders of the west, but we have some beautiful places!
I have missed this kind of videos from you. glad to see you are back at it.
That food looks way too good to be watching on a summer night while working!
Sweet shake down run! Love that area! Great to see Orangie 2.0 in its element!
Loved the video, West Virginia is beautiful!
amazing, its great seeing you and orange 2.0 back on the road again, best of luck on the new adventures and if you ever back into the southwest hope to meet you on the road again.
Back on the road!
Took my JKU on that trail a few winters back. The view from the overlook was incredible. There were several downed trees that I had to maneuver over and under because I did not bring any cutting device.
Chris it’s great that you and Orangie will be hitting the trails again soon, I’ve missed the Jeep content although I understand the need for “stand-ins”…
I signed on for a Thatch account, it actually looks pretty interesting…
You and Shannon stay safe wherever the road may take you.
I remember that town from your first videos. And a few throughout the yrs.
That family is trying to fatten u up lol food looked wonderful
Texas licence plate? Oh yeah ! Freedom !!!
Love it when a channel takes the time to break out chapters!
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing. We visited Monongahela NF for the first time this spring. Although we only drove through on our way from Black Water SP to Gettysburg, we did stop to walk the Cranberry Bog Botanical trail. Definitely a spot we need to explore in more detail.
Great video. So good to see you back out there in Orangie! Who is the little blue figure guy on your dash. I am old and recognize him, but cannot recall who he is! 🤪
So good to see the jeep back on the trail
A great shakedown run for certain! Thanks for bringing us along.
Starting to look like the old days. Thanks for posting. Your friend in Pennsylvania. Bob
Bravo Chris..........Cheers..........Steve
Lighting a torch to light a candle. Who do you think you are, @Camping with Steve? :) :)
I really enjoyed this video. Can’t wait for more like it!
Orangie 2.0 - it's on! Can't wait for the full time explorations to begin! Keeping you, Shannon and your family in our thoughts! See you on the trails!
Good recovery from that slip - you didn't even pause! Sure have missed seeing Orangie though!
Good to see you back in action Chris! And I loved seeing that Power Wagon keep up with you in Orangie! I went from running a 4xE Rubicon to a 2020 Power Wagon. I needed the extra room and am loving it so far! Looks like I need to make a trip out to West Virginia someday!
It IS good to be home!
Great video Chris!
This is so relaxing and the food looks amazing ❤️
I'm not sure if I saw what I saw? Did I watch Chris get out a propane torch, Light the propane torch with a lighter, Use the propane torch to light a candle, then turn off a propane torch? Maybe be he was using the propane torch for other things? But I found it amusing never the less? Love the show and your travels my friend.
LOL yes.
4:45 Are we lighting a torch on fire with another torch to light a candle? Chris, my dude, am I missing some sorta inside joke here? Haha.
That's the bushcraft coming out of him. 🤣
Chris don’t replay less ya pay him.
@@daviddowling9830 Unfortunately this is true, even if you give him good advice or tips that he uses.
Thanks for sharing!! Love your videos and it’s awesome seeing stuff near the east coast where we are!
I loved the Monongahela National Forest area which provided many camping and backpacking adventures from Richmond, Virginia, most of the backpacking trips were to the Strawberry Wilderness trails. Great video!
Another awesome adventure with orangey the
Glad the gen2 jeep is alive and well. Now that was a fun video. 👍👍
For some reason I enjoy seeing him air down by manually pulling the core. With all the fancy gadgets that gets pushed on these kinds of channels, the airing down scenes here are satisfyingly basic. Simple tool for a simple task.
Orangie back at it!
As Always … great video. Hopefully you’ll come through Virginia!!! lol
I'll start watching you again now that your adventuring again.
We enjoyed it. Jim and Judy in Texas.
Those pork chops & apples with potatoes looked really good.
Welcome back to Wild Wonderful!
Thomas is incredible small town
The Texas plate is the perfect change to compliment your rebuild. Looks more worldly and tough that way.
Thank you Chris and Shannon for another wonderful video keep up the good work 😎👍
Thanks for sharing..good to see orangie!
meant to do that.......nice recovery
flex that Revel!
The “obstacle” didn’t look that challenging.
👍👍👍👍👍, JEEP !!!!
Canaan Loop? Right in my back yard basically. Love the area up there. We have a lot to offer here in WV
Watch your step Chris !
x2
You should go to Sugar Creek in Ansted WV it's beautiful there
Very close to my home in West Virginia
Very close to my home.
Hi Chris, did I notice Texas plates on the jeep?
I kaughed out loud when you lit the lighter to light the torch to light the candle firestarter. Maybe that was overkill? why not just use the lighter to light the candle..lol
btw..have you and Shannon considered doing an extended Alaska adventure with the two vehicles? May need to invest in Starlink to ensure coverage so she could work, but I think it would be doable
When did Chris change his residence to Texas?
🙋💕
Did you move to Texas? I see you no longer have Pennsylvania license plates on your Jeep.
How come you don't have a BBQ, I see you frying everything. BBQ is so much healthier and so much better tasting.
Were you in Lancaster county Friday afternoon?
I want one of those t shirts
👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Foreshadowing...
Yay!
Chris what's the location of that camp side?
How where the bugs
How did you end up with Texas plates?
Do I hear a power steering pump failing on Orangy?
What brand canopy is on the dodge ???
Why does Orangie have Texas plates ?
Love West Virginia. Unfortunately, it is the birth place of PFAS/PFOA contamination.
texas plate?
I feel like I need to call the cops for that crime committed against that steak.
I kid I kid.
When traveling those West Virginia mountain back roads always hi tail it outta there if you hear dueling banjos lol
Lol
I see you have fallen for that spot…I’ll leave.
What kind of work does his girlfriend do online
Crappy saw
