“Decades Ago”?! I wish I would have made a trip down there in the 80’s (or asked my dad to take me) so I could have seen that mountain under water. 😜🤣
Just giving you a hard time Chris, great video! That climb would have made me a bit nervous by myself.
I, also, miss what was and seems to be no more. I still look and hope. And yet nothing seems to be what it was. I wish you all happiness but miss the old days when adventure was afoot around each curve!
"Decades ago" had me laughing.
Glad you got the joke ;-)
I'm glad you're still doing it buddy. I've been with you since you're first video... But your focus should be
Shannon... Because when all is Said and done... UA-cam doesn't care about you but shannon does... Keep the videos coming buddy but she's your priority! DAN
This 👆
Very kind of you to mention. We’re all good and enjoying this settling in phase. Shanno wants to hit the road again, before the heat truly settles in!
EXCELLENT video, even without background music 🎶 🎵 👌 👏 🙌
Glad you liked it!
What an epic drive to an epic summit, wow !!!
It certainly was!
Thanks Chris. We enjoyed the video. We hope to make it to Southern AZ Jeepin’ someday.
Beautiful trail and area. Arizona is such an underrated overland destination. Loved seeing the Jeep out this week.
It really is!
One of my favorite sayings is "It's better to travel well than to arrive." I have enjoyed your vlogs for several years. Stay well. Godspeed on all of your future endeavors.
Love that quote, thank you
@@venture4wd I don’t get all the negativity in the comments. It’s your life. As long as you are happy with the space you are in that’s all that matters. Peace be with you brother. You and Shannon take care.
I too have been with you almost from the beginning. I may be wrong, but I noticed in your introduction you omitted any mention of mobile living. No one begrudges you moving on in life and making a home. At the same time it kind of moves away from the main reason a lot of us follow you. I’ll continue to watch, but I do miss the “survival” aspect.
Same . Such is progression … he totally killed the vibe when he mentioned that he needed to get home to the wife ……..
@@nosnerd1967 agreed.
I was fully expecting he would camp in the canyon. Different feel and disappointing when its a day trip from the house. Makes it far less interesting. Same thing with the van trips. Not what Ive been following all these years and a lot interesting, so I skip them.
Well said
He’s now doing what a lot of people do,just going out for the day to explore some areas and then head home, shame it’s not the same as when it all started.
Very cool trail!!
It was!
Definitely one of your best videos. Great looking adventure. Awesomeness.
Glad you enjoyed it!
15:19 "Decades ago..."? Subtle humor? Very subtle, LOL! Someone HAD to call it.
Haha you got it!
Beautiful country! Thanks for the video. I thought you might be at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab this week. I think when you decide to retire Orangie, Jeep should give you a new Rubicon, and put Orangie on display somewhere. You are an excellent advertisement for their products since you actually use them the way they were intended to be used.
That would be cool!
Southeast Arizona is a less-known paradise for offroading. Now that I have moved to the Tucson area, I intend to do more exploring with my Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with a Four Wheel Camper on the bed. But the summer weather is a detriment. The temp hit 96 today, and it is early April!
Really well done Chris, I like that you showed your post outing inspection “an ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure”. Great route as well been all over AZ but not Coronado’s yet👍
Definitely time for you to check out the Coronados.
My last Jeep, a 2004 Grand Cherokee Overland with a 2" lift and 18/265/70 BFGs would take me places like that with some careful route finding and white knuckles. Jeeps are tough, at least they were then. When I finally parked my rig for good it had just over 350k miles on the original engine. Great to see you back out in the Wrangler.
Wow you had a great run with that! Certainly keeping on top of maintenance issues helps a ton.
love these style of videos!
I'm so glad!
Great video, thanks; sounded liked the bearing
It might be! I’ll have to get Orangie in to the shop.
Great views
Views were definitely wonderful.
youre right. that mountain WAS underwater decades ago, back in 1982. ha!
😂
Great video
Thanks!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool route. I like a good hill climb
It was really fun!
Great trail
It was awesome.
That's a nice day drive. (Hubby and I grew up in Tucson and know exactly where you are in this one.) ;-)
Such a great area!
The bearing noise is just a bent dust shield over the oil seal. It’s rubbing on the case.
Yay!!
Ya Chris. I new orngy would make it but wasn’t sure about you. Lol. 👍👍👍
Haha!
Great countryside and views. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you!
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
You bet!
Just an idea but since a coil is rubbing the frame you might want to check square on the axle to the chassis. Namely is the axle to one side or the other. You could have a track bar issue which could be as simple as a few turns because I'm sure at this point you have an adjustable track bar. Remember the links hold it front and back but the track bar holds it side to side.
Thanks!
The one day we finally have a 60 degree day,and I am sick. Thanks for getting me outside.
Oh no! I hope you get better soon. Spring is coming, and there will be many more nice days ahead.
@@venture4wd thank you! Happy Easter
The last section of that hillclimb looked pretty knarly.
It was :)
Surprised you did not feature any of the mine ruins, old cabins and caves in the area you were in. I continue to find more interesting features when in the area you were in. Thanks for sharing.
Next time!
Thank you for giving me your elevation
Conglomerate rock on top of the mountain.
Chris, love the videos and have been following for a long time now. (nice to see you settle down in my town, too!) I'd love a way to do a one-time purchase of your waypoints, vs a subscription which I just will not do. I know there's a sneaky way to do this that you're probably aware of, but that doesn't feel right as a supporter.
Being that the American southwest has seen the most rain it’s had in 100 years I would be willing to bet that stream does not always run.
That’s my guess too.
Wondering how many miles you covered in the backcountry on this outing? The Sky islands in southern AZ are impressive. I need to check out Coronado👍
Around 5 miles out / 5 miles back.
Nice views. Good to see the jeep now how about that girl? No more overnight? I say that because I see less containers in the Jeep and no trash bag on the spare
Hey Chris…I’m heading out soon to do the AZ and NV BDR’s any advice on trail conditions and snow?
Peppersauce. Nice.
Great trail. Would go back.
Great video thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Your front axle may not be centered exactly. That could easily cause the spring issue.
I’ll add that to the list of potential issues. Thanks!
Great video Chris! Following your channel from the beginning and one of my favorite ones for outdoors and off road exploration. Don’t pay attention to the whiner followers that want YOUR channel as they please…more likely they just go out camping one or twice a year at RVs campgrounds and have not clue about living on the road or off the beaten path.
I appreciate that!
With the adventures that you like to go on, how could you not take any food? I don't think Dominoes delivers up there if you break down. lol
I know, Shannon always says she pack me something and I should have taken her up on it!
Eventually we’ll have drone delivery…
Every forest in Arizona is crowded now. It never was that way 15 years ago. You used to be pretty much alone in any part of the Santa Rita's, but now on any given day it's full of motor coaches, packs of SxSs and the USFS does zero enforcement. They're too busy assisting USBP with their shit show.
Most definitely getting crowded - but that’s almost everywhere.
what about the sway bar disconnect?
You're in my backyard, I live in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Hard to tell, but seems you might be near Rice Peak? You should try around Sedona. Also check out "Back way to Crown King."
Indeed it was Rice Peak. Back way to crown king is definitely on the list for some point in the future :)
Excellent video! You have a certain look to your footage that I can’t place. Is it a camera filter or in post production? Thanks!
No filters, very little post-production editing work.
@@venture4wd thank you. I forget that where I film on Vancouver Island the colour scheme is completely different.
What are your plans for the summer?
Nothing set in stone as of yet!
Good Afternoon Chris and Shannon. I know you guys use little hand held radios to communicate betten vehicles, but now that you are more home based it might be time to upgrade. You might look into GMRS mobile radios and one for your house. From the location on top of that mountain or many areas around southern Arizona, you could access repeaters in case you have sketchy cell service or something happens. Also communicate with other people that are in that area you may be exploring. Just my two cents to be more prepared.... Good video.
CHEERS from Colorado
Thanks for the tip! We do each have our own Garmin in-reach devices, and so far that has worked super well for us.
So is this just a channel about exploring parts of Arizona now?
What happened to your steering wheel?
It’s just worn after 10 years / 200,000+ rough miles.
Decades ago! 🤣🤣
🤣😂🤣😂
Routes like these are why the Jeep is better than the new Bronco.
Based on what?! 🤣
@@RabbiTrogdor literally decades of evidence
@@tacoma_jon You do know the new bronco has been available for less than 2 years right? 🤣
There was nothing in this video that a Bronco couldn't do and it would likely do most of it more comfortably. Some of it better as well like the switch back.
Great video but decades ago on top maybe a few 1000 years ago and probably some.
It was a joke.
Your hair is looking good in this video. You just get a haircut?
No, I actually am due for one soon though! At the very least, a beard trim :)
Decades ago? No more like millennia ago those rocks were buried from a ancient streambed, and now have been uplifted to the top of a mountain. They look like cement.
I’m sure he was just trying to be funny.
It was a joke.
@@venture4wd Your dry sense of humor slipped that one by.
Holy Shit Chris, @ 15: 17 comment was like "decades ago" as to the rock structure ( looks like you're in the Santa Ritas) was that a Freudian Slip or is your mind opposed to the Geologic Time Scale??? WTF????
It was a joke.
Chris,
Your content is getting weaker & weaker, like your not even trying to make videos anymore brother!
I’ve been watching you for a long time & use to live your adventures around the US & Canada.
Maybe it time for a break & a rethink now that you have a permanent location.
Blessings
Professor Dan
So is Chris like not allowed to leave southern Arizona anymore? I mean in the surface this is the kind of video I like but seeing the same scenery over and over several videos in a row isn’t why I really liked this channel to begin with.
And he’s not even camping overnight here? Just day trips on trails these days? Again it’s not a horrible video but if this becomes just a channel for southern Arizona trail riding I may have to unsubscribe. There’s only so much of the exact same scenery I want to see.
Not great…..again☹️
