Pretty peak Bethesda. They suddenly have a huge boost to popularity of their IP, but they don't have any new Fallout games to capitalize on it. So they not only decide to break all mods(including the most exciting Fallout content for years) for everyone wanting to play the old game, but basically break the game entirely... "Bethesda never changes..."
I keep thinking they are genius of ideas and super shite at coding or writing sometime... they should just delegate it to competent people... never seen a company fail time after time at exact same things everytime
I play the Game with the new Update in Vanilla and it runs better than ever before, the little modfix regarding uncapped FPS in loadings screens does the rest. So I have a Game that runs with 60+FPS smoothly, looks a bit better then before. I am happy, I can wait for Modder to update their mods until then I have my Vanilla Run finished :)
Prior to the Update's release, set game to update only when Run. Set Steam to Offline Mode prior to Running game. Game does not update. All legacy Mods continue to run fine. (I did put the word out pre-update.)
yes this, i tried the game again just after the show, before the "update" and it was running brilliantly. no problems at all. then i tried it after the "update" and quests do not complete, stuff like accessing computers leaves your character in a infinite walking animation that can only be exit'et by quitting the game and reloading. Doors opened by computers never open. and so on.bad bad bad....
What a classic move you would honestly think they would have left it for atleast a month to let the new players actually enjoy it. I would dare say new players gave up with fallout 4 after the first few hours

@@rondoanderson There were a few very annoying glitches though Normally if your limb is crippled, the crippled status will disappear after a while But there was a glitch that made it so that the status remained but sleeping or a stim didn't help so you had to throw a grenade at yourself to re-cripple it and then heal with a stim Only happened a few times at the start but it was very annoying

@@marcopena5117 I have an 8700k and a 2060 and I've been playing vanilla Fo4 for years with no major problems. Bugs of course, but nothing unexpected. I can also run Fo4 fairly decently on my laptop with a 11th gen i5 and integrated graphics If it doesn't run well lower the settings
After the update I lost all my mods and even though I had about fifty according to bethesda I only have five while trying to rebuild my list I CANNOT find place anywhere 😵
If you're on Xbox, go to manage game and delete the mod section under save data. It should fix it believing you have more mods installed then you do.@@antonfowler6582
I gave my brother my Series S when I got an X. After the update he cant even load the game. And he has probably played 5k hours on the PS4. He ended up unplugging the S and went back to the PS4. I have had no problems on the X tho and I never had any issues on the S before either.
I used to overhaul my game to be winter and have an alternative start + no main quest. All of these mods disappeared from my library and aren't searchable on the mod thingy (I'm on series x). This combined with it never getting above 30 fps on my PC even without mods, and my dlc just straight up disappearing from my Xbox, I've just decided to stick to new vegas

CD Projeckt red, the creator of Stardew valley and indies made by one person like project zomboid do take a lot of time to make trial and errors and give big mod authors a preview of the update so they can work on their mod updates to release by the time the new update rolls in, sadly these are only quite a few cases that can be counted with just one hand

Not realize, or they don't care. I can't even access Skyrim SE's mod page on my xbox one. Just glad I have both games on my PC, because at least on there, I can disable updates, and go into the game through SKSE and F4SE if I want to play either one without any issues.
I’ve noticed VATS will now target enemies or NPCs through walls and floors. Went to the Old Church during the Railroad quest and took out some ghouls in the chapel, when using VATS it showed drummer boy through the floor…
Same here. Played this game since 2015 it was one of my favorite of all time. I just deleted it. Im done. And im never ever ever playing a single game from them, not watching their stupid movie, Glad i didnt buy 76, Done. The vanilla game doesnt compare those that never played with mods have no idea what theyre missing.

12/8/2024 I deleted and reinstalled and still not working right on PS4. I think they did it deliberately to spite players for not getting newer stuff.Edit, I dont use mods.
How do you know this wasn't as they wanted it. Perhaps they want you to abandon old software so you have to buy something new. But they're breaking it incrementally just to slow boil you.

Yup, it's broken for me too... and I'm using a PC so I don't know what to do. (I mainly use/used the Mod Tab in the Games because it seemed easier to do)
It seems to be a deleted/missing mod that caused that. I'm on PS5 so it needed a full delete/reinstall as cant access individual game files. The Minutmen Watchtowers had been deleted/removed.
At least the HD upgrade a few years ago was a DLC you could CHOOSE to install. All so they could delay or prevent the release of Fallout: London, a mod that probably could not have run on console... which were the only platforms to benefit from the update. Guess I get to wait 6-12 months before I can play my favourite game. Thanks Bethesda! Real classy of you.... screw over the community that has kept your game alive for a decade while you broke Skyrim and served us up the undercooked Starfield.
I just realized... Fallout 4 was basically a combination of the Pitt DLC from Fallout 3... *Baby gets stolen.* And Fallout Tactics. Vault Zero. From Fallout Tactics *Storage place for the cryogenically frozen geniuses of the prewar*, Robots going about HELPING humans except... The brains malfunctioned. Much like in the mechanist DLC.
Tactics gets a lot of scorn. Sure, it can be grindy and challenging if the player just wants to click to win, but it really isn't a bad game if you enjoy the original Fallout games from before the dark times, before Bethesda.
I'm using 1.5.97 with 1200 mods and 200 hrs same save not 1 crash zero issues. You should use the Best of Both worlds downgrade patcher. Been using since it released with zero issues
@@DeviousPatriot So far I found some missing stones on the path from helgen to Ivorstead. If you look around the area near the Thalmor base where you do the "Quest missing in action" some of the water along the Coastline is missing abruptly. In fact just look carefully at the rocks around Whiterun there are missing rocks and land in general. It's like the map has holes in it.
I don't know if it's me or not but the latest Starfield update has made planets with lots of flora and fauna unplayable (my FPS drops non-stop from 100 to 60-70 and even lower); going back to the last update and almost no stutter at all.
😂😂 same here! I remember back in 2011 when i was playing skyrim and they patched it for some ring that wasnt giving you the proper buff..well they fixed that but then all the dragons started to flying backwards.😂
honestly i've had none of the problems shown here, but i also heavily combed my mod list to make sure it was all up to date before trying to play on the new patch. i have 124 mods running on the next gen version with 0 issues, not even the "stutter" shown here while literally using a facegen replacer for npcs

Boy snap back to reality, the mod is a scam, they just post their donation sites and merchandise like T-shirt’s, mugs and hoodies, and they always ended up delaying it for stupid reasons like “oh no the queen is dead, we’ll remove it from the game”, “Starfield is out boys, don’t wanna outshine it”, “Christmas time, not everyone would be able to play it on holidays but it’s 90% done we promise” see the pattern? Yeah the mod not appearing in the search bar isnt a bug, its been that way for a while, long begore the update. For some reason you type in appears at the bottom of search results instead of the top. And sometimes it doesnt even appear at all and you have to type in keywords to find it

Look at Starfield, a dead, lifeless shell of a game that they hyped up to be amazing. They're gonna do the Skyrim treatment and introduce paid mods. They'll do it for Fallout 4 as well. @curtharkaly4620 i play on xbox i had a heavily modded load order and had 60 fps and 0 crashes. I just knew what mods were bad and where to put mods in the load order so, you are indeed wrong on that account the update made it way worse.
A 7 with mods, they fix alot of things but not all. I would honestly give the vanilla game a 3/10 because the combat was the only thing that felt decent. Basically why people would rather play New vegas modded for gameplay, and fallout 4 for screenshots.
So, I have my game updated, and I have mods up to about 90MB of space left (Xbox Series X) and I've had no issues besides the lag in downtown Boston. It's the best the game has looked, and felt in my experience. 🤷🏾

This is supposed to run at an unlocked framer rate of 60FPS on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC. Why does having mod support from the loyal community centered around the game make Fallout 4 drop to single frame digits? This is plain unacceptable in my opinion.
And to avoid confusion and attention taken away with the newbies coming in from the TV show. There was absolutely nothing to be gained for PC players with this "update."

Starfield is stuttering as well. My fps runs 80-90 consistently then suddenly, it'll drop to 15 0r 20, sometimes single digits. I hit escape, and it comes back up and stays there when I return to game. This can occur at any time. It happens in cities, in space, on a planet, and even in cutscenes. I don't think it's happened in pois tho.

But the only thing I know of specifically is monopolizing his patches (which have unwanted and personal changes he doesn't mention) and making sure no ine else can put one out. Given nexus had to make a rule specifically to counter his BS with starfield I believe this 100%

My game was running better than the last gen version on Series X. But then I started building multiple cities using sim settlements 2 and now I get some stuttering and crashes. I am also experiencing the “The operation cannot be complete” bug for mods. I would be pissed if i didn’t already exceed the mod capacity.
Think the "cause" you highlighted is either a red herring or just one of the problems. I have stutter issues also at similar points and I have very few mods in play. - True grass (Or some grass mod) - True Storms - A night skybox mod - Load accelerator - FOSE That is it, not even CBBE or any looks mods at all.
You know its funny, i was just about to comment about how 3 months later the game is more or less back to normal in terms of performance, but for literally no reason, my game failed to boot up and i don't even have any mods active. It just works, eh Todd?

Correction, the Search for mods on console has always worked like this. The "last" mod is actually the first as it sorts by upload date (imo it should be flipped) but also, unless you type EXACTLY the same name you won't find anything. Also, it shows "unrelated mods" but if you read each description the words "Cheat terminal" in that exact order will appear in every mods description in the search. Also also, use "Ugh Mod Manager Cap" (just type "Ugh Mod" and you should find it), install, reboot game, and when you search mods or view categories the list won't exhaust itself after a set amount of listings.
Except the Next-Gen version is 100% fixed now and objectively better. My game hasn't crashed once since updating to next-gen and gets better fps. While before the next-gen patch I was constantly crashing everywhere.

Im on ps5. No mods. Just vanilla game + official bethesda dlcs and weapon/workshop packs. I have never even opened the (what i assume to be)officially approved mods list that is in the game menu. I dont even use the workshop pack. The only thing i have used from the workshop pack is a couple water towers and a robot workstation that has built 2 robots, all within sanctuary. My game lags/stutters and drops frame rate all the time. On rare occasion it will full on crash. Extremely frustrating when that happens but it is rare. But yea the frame rate seemingly drops out of nowhere. I can be walking around the woods by myself and all of the sudden it drops to an unplayable state for a few seconds. I say all this to get across the point that i dont believe it to only be a mod issue.

I did notice the issue myself.I had lost all The Mods.I had from back of the day.Had to research and find them all.But I can only run four purchase mods and four non purchase mods And that's it occasionally I'll tag in an extra one, if I need it.But that's more of a cheat mode.You extra resources But I don't plan on keeping it Cause it's brakes the look of weapons and knife
I've had almost no issues with 100h played on PS5. First time FO4 player and I'm surprised as that's the first time a Bugthesda game didn't completely bug out on me and ended my playthrough.
I have had to restart my game three times because of game breaking bugs that block quest progress. There has also been a bug that causes you to repeat dialog twice with NPCs. Some times I am in the middle of a fight and the game just randomly ports me to the other side of the Commonwealth. My fear is that with theses new bugs Bugthesda will put out a new update that will f-up F4se and in turn f-up all the mods that depend on it again, and then all theses mod authors that spent so much time fixing what Bugthesda did last time will have to un-F it again. I also wonder if this process is just going to keep repeating till Bugthesda gets it right or gives up entirely and leaves the game in a worse state then it was before they started all this.
Love how Bethesda wanted to capitalize on the new found fame only to wreck their game. Almost seems like they want to push you to Fallout 76. Then you hear talk of them trying to rush out Fallout 5. Basically we will never have a functional Fallout 4 again, and Fallout 5 will probably be garbage, just like 76 was on release.
Right now, the only real problem is trying to browse the in-game mod server. The constant "operation could not be completed", but half the time it's still functional. Depending on whether the influx of mod server activity isn't overloading it.
I've been trying to redownload my mods, after reinstalling, and it says "operation couldn't be completed" just navigating the mod menu and crashing just moving stuff on the LO
Thankfully I copied a full clean version of the old gen version of fallout onto a External SSD and put all my mods and Script extender on it so whenever I wanna play I just plug it in and Load it through Clicking on Scriot extender in the files and works perfectly still

Not realize, or they don't care. I can't even access Skyrim SE's mod page on my xbox one. Just glad I have both games on my PC, because at least on there, I can disable updates, and go into the game through SKSE and F4SE if I want to play either one without any issues.

I’ve noticed VATS will now target enemies or NPCs through walls and floors. Went to the Old Church during the Railroad quest and took out some ghouls in the chapel, when using VATS it showed drummer boy through the floor…

And im never ever ever playing a single game from them, not watching their stupid movie, Glad i didnt buy 76, Done. The vanilla game doesnt compare those that never played with mods have no idea what theyre missing.

It's a good thing I got the GOG edition. We can rollback to the previous update and play without DRM.
Steam can roll back too, it's just more tedious (which is why a tool to automate it exists).

Yup, it's broken for me too... and I'm using a PC so I don't know what to do.
(I mainly use/used the Mod Tab in the Games because it seemed easier to do)
It seems to be a deleted/missing mod that caused that. I'm on PS5 so it needed a full delete/reinstall as cant access individual game files.
The Minutmen Watchtowers had been deleted/removed.
Same, I had to delete the whole game and redownload just to get mods again.

On PS5 the loads are insanely short, they were way longer on ps4. Seriously though i never wait more than 5 seconds or so it's so nice.

At least the HD upgrade a few years ago was a DLC you could CHOOSE to install. All so they could delay or prevent the release of Fallout: London, a mod that probably could not have run on console... which were the only platforms to benefit from the update. Guess I get to wait 6-12 months before I can play my favourite game. Thanks Bethesda! Real classy of you.... screw over the community that has kept your game alive for a decade while you broke Skyrim and served us up the undercooked Starfield.

Tactics gets a lot of scorn. Sure, it can be grindy and challenging if the player just wants to click to win, but it really isn't a bad game if you enjoy the original Fallout games from before the dark times, before Bethesda.
This applies to more than Fallout 4.
I have found missing area's in Skyrim.
I'm using 1.5.97 with 1200 mods and 200 hrs same save not 1 crash zero issues. You should use the Best of Both worlds downgrade patcher. Been using since it released with zero issues

If you look around the area near the Thalmor base where you do the "Quest missing in action" some of the water along the Coastline is missing abruptly.
In fact just look carefully at the rocks around Whiterun there are missing rocks and land in general. It's like the map has holes in it.

I don't know if it's me or not but the latest Starfield update has made planets with lots of flora and fauna unplayable (my FPS drops non-stop from 100 to 60-70 and even lower); going back to the last update and almost no stutter at all.
And this is why I refused to update to the "next gen" version. Because I knew BGS would screw it up.

honestly i've had none of the problems shown here, but i also heavily combed my mod list to make sure it was all up to date before trying to play on the new patch. i have 124 mods running on the next gen version with 0 issues, not even the "stutter" shown here while literally using a facegen replacer for npcs

Boy snap back to reality, the mod is a scam, they just post their donation sites and merchandise like T-shirt’s, mugs and hoodies, and they always ended up delaying it for stupid reasons like “oh no the queen is dead, we’ll remove it from the game”, “Starfield is out boys, don’t wanna outshine it”, “Christmas time, not everyone would be able to play it on holidays but it’s 90% done we promise” see the pattern? Or are you blindfolded as the rest of the mod fanboys are?

I'm SO stoked for London. I get why they don't want to deal with the headache or confused players who can't tell which version of the mod goes with what version of the game and patching two versions sucks. But I really hope they reconsider.

Yeah the mod not appearing in the search bar isnt a bug, its been that way for a while, long begore the update. For some reason you type in appears at the bottom of search results instead of the top. And sometimes it doesnt even appear at all and you have to type in keywords to find it

Dude, it's always been broken. Bethesda fucks everything up in their never ending chase for more money after we've already bought their game. Look at Starfield, a dead, lifeless shell of a game that they hyped up to be amazing. They're gonna do the Skyrim treatment and introduce paid mods. They'll do it for Fallout 4 as well. I'm tired of these greedy practices. Every update they put out fucks everything up.

@curtharkaly4620 i play on xbox i had a heavily modded load order and had 60 fps and 0 crashes. I just knew what mods were bad and where to put mods in the load order so, you are indeed wrong on that account the update made it way worse.
A 7 with mods, they fix alot of things but not all. I would honestly give the vanilla game a 3/10 because the combat was the only thing that felt decent. Basically why people would rather play New vegas modded for gameplay, and fallout 4 for screenshots.

So, I have my game updated, and I have mods up to about 90MB of space left (Xbox Series X) and I've had no issues besides the lag in downtown Boston.
It's the best the game has looked, and felt in my experience. 🤷🏾

The bug has been identified. It's called the "You're supposed to be playing Starfield!" bug.
This is supposed to run at an unlocked framer rate of 60FPS on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC. Why does having mod support from the loyal community centered around the game make Fallout 4 drop to single frame digits? This is plain unacceptable in my opinion.
Bethesda are, on a technical level, utterly incompetent. Expect no fixes.
As I have mentioned many times, it is an active sabotage of Fallout London for the benefit of the FO76 update.
I dig conspiracies but this one feels like a stretch.
And to avoid confusion and attention taken away with the newbies coming in from the TV show. There was absolutely nothing to be gained for PC players with this "update."

Starfield is stuttering as well. My fps runs 80-90 consistently then suddenly, it'll drop to 15 0r 20, sometimes single digits. I hit escape, and it comes back up and stays there when I return to game. This can occur at any time. It happens in cities, in space, on a planet, and even in cutscenes. I don't think it's happened in pois tho.
Mine updated and I had to freaking redo all of my mods over. Some were gone or broken. Bethesda needs to just stop.

@kram9863 a lot of things from what I've heard. But the only thing I know of specifically is monopolizing his patches (which have unwanted and personal changes he doesn't mention) and making sure no ine else can put one out.
Given nexus had to make a rule specifically to counter his BS with starfield I believe this 100%

My game was running better than the last gen version on Series X. But then I started building multiple cities using sim settlements 2 and now I get some stuttering and crashes. I am also experiencing the “The operation cannot be complete” bug for mods. I would be pissed if i didn’t already exceed the mod capacity.
If youre on xbox i think thats kind of just par for the course with SS2 on there, great mod but xbox can barely handle it

Think the "cause" you highlighted is either a red herring or just one of the problems. I have stutter issues also at similar points and I have very few mods in play.

Correction, the Search for mods on console has always worked like this.
The "last" mod is actually the first as it sorts by upload date (imo it should be flipped) but also, unless you type EXACTLY the same name you won't find anything.
Also, it shows "unrelated mods" but if you read each description the words "Cheat terminal" in that exact order will appear in every mods description in the search.
Also also, use "Ugh Mod Manager Cap" (just type "Ugh Mod" and you should find it), install, reboot game, and when you search mods or view categories the list won't exhaust itself after a set amount of listings.

I'm very glad that I backed up a pre-update version of the game, Bethesda can't even get an *EXTREMELY* minor overhaul right.
Except the Next-Gen version is 100% fixed now and objectively better. My game hasn't crashed once since updating to next-gen and gets better fps. While before the next-gen patch I was constantly crashing everywhere.

Something that I've been having trouble with is far harbor, more specifically missing assets and random objects clipping in and out of existence.
Sometimes I just wonder how a game company can make such bad decisions, bad coding and development, to me it feels like there are people working for Bethesda that are paid by other big names to bring the company down.
This is the most “next gen” thing about the “next gen” update. The fact that nothing works.

Theirs a mod that tricks the steam into thinking you downloaded it. Also the update, only works if you use the makeshift weapons….

Im on ps5. No mods. Just vanilla game + official bethesda dlcs and weapon/workshop packs. I have never even opened the (what i assume to be)officially approved mods list that is in the game menu. I dont even use the workshop pack. The only thing i have used from the workshop pack is a couple water towers and a robot workstation that has built 2 robots, all within sanctuary. My game lags/stutters and drops frame rate all the time. On rare occasion it will full on crash. Extremely frustrating when that happens but it is rare. But yea the frame rate seemingly drops out of nowhere. I can be walking around the woods by myself and all of the sudden it drops to an unplayable state for a few seconds. I say all this to get across the point that i dont believe it to only be a mod issue.

I did notice the issue myself.I had lost all The Mods.I had from back of the day.Had to research and find them all.But I can only run four purchase mods and four non purchase mods And that's it occasionally I'll tag in an extra one, if I need it.But that's more of a cheat mode.You extra resources But I don't plan on keeping it Cause it's brakes the look of weapons and knife

It's become apparent that this game was barely together at the start.
I've had almost no issues with 100h played on PS5. First time FO4 player and I'm surprised as that's the first time a Bugthesda game didn't completely bug out on me and ended my playthrough.
I have had to restart my game three times because of game breaking bugs that block quest progress. There has also been a bug that causes you to repeat dialog twice with NPCs. Some times I am in the middle of a fight and the game just randomly ports me to the other side of the Commonwealth. My fear is that with theses new bugs Bugthesda will put out a new update that will f-up F4se and in turn f-up all the mods that depend on it again, and then all theses mod authors that spent so much time fixing what Bugthesda did last time will have to un-F it again. I also wonder if this process is just going to keep repeating till Bugthesda gets it right or gives up entirely and leaves the game in a worse state then it was before they started all this.
Love how Bethesda wanted to capitalize on the new found fame only to wreck their game. Almost seems like they want to push you to Fallout 76. Then you hear talk of them trying to rush out Fallout 5. Basically we will never have a functional Fallout 4 again, and Fallout 5 will probably be garbage, just like 76 was on release.
Right now, the only real problem is trying to browse the in-game mod server. The constant "operation could not be completed",
but half the time it's still functional. Depending on whether the influx of mod server activity isn't overloading it.

Thankfully I copied a full clean version of the old gen version of fallout onto a External SSD and put all my mods and Script extender on it so whenever I wanna play I just plug it in and Load it through Clicking on Scriot extender in the files and works perfectly still
Knock on wood haven't had a single problem with Fallout 4 since update on PC.
