A colonoscopy can LITERALLY save someone's life! By giving this video a thumbs up and/or sharing it, you will help get it in front of someone who NEEDS to see it! Please feel free to ask me ANY questions about the procedure, I will answer them all.
UPDATE 2/16: Doctor called and told me the two polyps were benign so the only thing I have to do is come back in 5 years for another one. Phew... what a relief!

@@lathaperi9822 so what you had is an adenoma. I had two benign polyps (adenomas) removed. The doctor told me to come back in 5 years. I would recommend not worrying too much, but I am NOT a medical health professional. If it causes you a lot of stress, consider talking to your doctor, or even possibly a therapist. I hope you get this resolved and continue your happy life as usual!

Thank you so much for having the Guts to film your real life situation and talk about what is often awkward to talk about. Your video answers a lot of my questions and eased my mind on the unknowns about getting a colonoscopy, which is honestly the scariest part. Congratulations on getting your procedure done. I am 72 and I've had three colonoscopies all of which I did drug-free. I told him just to talk to me and let me watch the screen and I would be fine. In October of 2021 I had my third colonoscopy, I also had my first endoscopy which I also did wide awake and drug-free. I can tell you the nurses and the recovery room were astounded that I did them without drugs. If I have another one in 5 years I will also do it drug free.

Thumbs up for sharing your experience. I had one when I was around 8 years old and it left a bad childhood memory for me. I had my first colonoscopy as an adult two weeks ago. I'm 55. Knew in the back of my head it's something I needed to do, but I'm squeemish around doctors and never go unless something is wrong with me. Anyway I'm so glad I had mine done because they found polyps that I'm glad they got! Anyone that reads this that is on the fence about getting one do it ASAP! You'll be so glad you did it when it's over.

Maybe a little tip for everyone else, I have a necklace as a lucky charm that I'll wear during the prep (I can't wear it during the procedure but I'll just give it to whoever is waiting outside for me on that day so it can still work it's magic ;) Maybe you consider taking one with you, too)

Stay hydrated as it will help with your IV start. Only take the meds they permit. You need special instructions when it comes to diabetic, blood thinners and some blood pressure meds. Make sure someone is driving you home! BTW those wipes are not flushable

Hey :) I commented on this video last year but I remembered this video & came back to say that I went through my colonoscopy last summer. I'm from Germany so my prep was a little different as I was only allowed to mix mine with water. What did help a lot though was applejuce. I held my glass with the prep in my right hand and a glass of applejuice in my left hand. Then I'd take a breath, take a sip of the prep, swallow it, and then immediately take a sip of the applejuice without having to put it down and grab the other glass first. I must have looked real stupid but it did help the taste so it didn't matter how I looked, at least I got it down. Maybe that'll help some of you, too!
I only had to drink 500ml in the evening and 500 in the morning, though but it still took me about 4 hours to down the first 500 so I was sure to start earlier than the packaging said in the morning to I finish it on time.
One thing I wish I knew is that it's either all or nothing, you can't really go back after starting to take the prep so you have to push through! But if I made it then you'll make it as well :D

I found when I stopped drinking water or Gatorade I no longer had to go to the bathroom but I took 12 pills and 6 hrs later I took 12 more large pills with Gatorade. Unfortunately I have to go in again. My first time was in a clinic and a few are to big so I need to have it done in a real hospital Tuesday. They got me taken the same stuff you did so I hope it doesn’t keep me up all night. I’m having it done twice in ten days. I had two small ones removed and I felt fine when I woke up. 7 hrs later I took a long walk with a friend.
    Nice review!

@@LifewithSerg thank you. For those who may find this confusing there’s SUTAB and the nurse said it cost a hundred but I paid forty. There big pills and I took 24. I’m thinking since Miralax has no taste and both methods require me to drink a lot of water or sugar free Gatorade I’m thinking your way in the video is going to be better especially if you have a hard time swallowing large pills.
