It’s actually insane to me how San Bernardino is gonna be the flagship us route for the new game. Literally no new equipment and it’s in the LA area again. There are other parts of the west coast to be covered. San Diego, Cascades, Capitol Corridor etc…
Yeah you know it's completely lame when Matt's favorite thing about the route is driving a one-track route in the middle of a highway 🙄. A highway with barely any cars. And those cars are floating on the road.
Yeah I’m really tired of these west coast desert routes I live in the east in Ohio and up in the Cleveland area would be a cool setting for a route; loads of industry plus really cool scenery. That route would be NS, maybe an AC446CM, SD40, and Sd70ace plus layers from HSC (these engines are for DTG if they want to be lazy and reskin some and give us one new) Personally for this I would also want a Dash 9, SD70, SD60E, ET44, SD75M, but that’s not going to happen soon lol
This is so real, pacific surliner would've been way better then what's coming, kinda crazy how in the trailer there are light poles in the middle of the highway, barley an traffic, cars floating, hell they might even have the traffic on the wrong side of the road 😂
@@Maggus_ the problem is that they keep releasing the same title with a minimal amount of changes and new DLC‘s instead of fixing core issues via Updates. I know it’s free, but their practices just seem very weird to me.
@@Maggus_ you do realise when they say "you can get the new version for free", it's only talking about the built in upgrades in the game itself. You aren't getting Any of the new content tho, that requires a purchase
@@___-000 No jokeeee, like imagine needing to pay for something that has put efford into it, it was always like that, even with tsc, play 30€ for the new routes in the bundle but you get the core free.... its like dtg is creating those routes with one click and thats it
Main problem with DTG is GREED. They have literally never released one route that wasnt broken and had bugs on launch. Not one! They dont release editing tools because they're greedy and dont want to lose out on revenue. Even though, the community does better things with their game than the developers can. They just rush out routes, barely fix them, and then rush out the next one for more money. Then when it comes to American routes, they are just lazy, plain and simple. One loco, usually repurposed, copied assets, no AI traffic, framerate issues, the same consists, the same runs just with different TOD, lack of people at stations, all for usually the price of a normal AA title.
I said on Steam, Dovetails could take it the example from SCS Software, make DLC like Euro Truck and American Truck. but they just sell the whole game again with a different number.
My point entirely. They could learn a lot from SCS. I have both titles and all DLC's which offer better value for money at under £15.00 on average. We are now moving towards version 1.51 for both titles, that equates to 20 major updates to the game since I got on board, all bringing huge improvements, all free of charge. Oh, and I missed one major piece of functionality, in none of the sims ATS or ETS2 do you have to redownload your entire collection of DLC's. That lack of functionality really sucks in TSW, it is tough on DTG's customer base.
2 years ago in 2022 we were still playing 2. It’s obvious that they’re making it a yearly release. Although then I find it better to name it after the year it releases, like most games with yearly or bi-yearly releases.
Bro you nailed it, we (americans) are neglected all we get is the same trains and same areas over and over as extensions and barely any upgrades but foreign gets upgrades new routes and locos every 4 to 6 weeks its tiring
my thoughts exactly. They are unfortunately starting to make this the FIFA or Madden of the train sim genre that releases the same game every year with a few additional features that really should have been an update
I appreciate you being candid about being a Dovetail Ambassador for their games. I stopped playing TSW after Train Sim World 2. It's the same game just repackaged with a few new things. The other thing that annoys me is that they have a severe lack of equipment and option of US routes. DTG just sticks to a certain area. Extremely neglected for US TSW fans. At this point games such as Railroader, Run8, Train Sim Classic and even Open Rails have my attention more than TSW. One final thing, their game only focuses on how it simply looks with the graphics. That's how their marketing is tailored. There is so much potential for this series and it just seems like they keep missing the mark.
Normally don't comment on videos like this but this is exactly how I am feeling. Gave up playing TSW and only play TS Classic now only because of the over 40 different US packs with different railroads. Its been 2 years since TSW gave us a US Freight route...what our entire railroad system is based on....and the only historic option is Clinchfield. Want to be able to hop in to a session and run Conrail, Chessie, BN, Great Northern, etc. Ik that's a bit overzealous but just really frustrated with the options for US rail sim
Great point about freight routes. When I play TSW I do Europe for passenger routes but always US for freight routes. US freight is another level and deserve way more routes and DLC
which is very unfortunate. Im a BNSF foamer but Canadian railways are almost equally as amazing. Sad that such amazing routes rarely get attention. Guess there is still Trainz, they got a bunch of Canadian stuff.
Another issue is the lack of rolling stock. They added formation designer, which in my mind, is made for freight train players (since we get tired of the cut/paste formations DTG gives us). So I’m praying that they show the American trains some love.
Agreed. It’s marketing. It should be TSW Update 5, not TSW5. If they made a major change such as entirely new graphics due to a software engine shift like Unreal 5 then yes. But this ain’t it.
There are some great train routes in Mexico that are being ignored, the Mexico City Metro, Guadalajara's train, Chepe Express Train, Mayan Train and all of the freight lines that run on the pacific side of the country
This isn't negative, its giving an honest critique on something you've supported and want to support. My 2 cents. I don't think Dovetail has the bandwidth/resources to cover multiple routes across continents, especially with their yearly content release. We need more 3rd party devs, this is the best result, unfortunately we're only just seeing them emerge.
I live in germany and while the german content sounds and looks exiting to me the idea of redownloading the entire and ever-growing library every year is not. Especially if the features they always proudly present could have been an update (It felt so cringeworthy when they praised the addition of the undo-button last year). But I was positively surprised about the free starter pack. I think it's a step in the right direction. I'm glad you shared your honest thoughts about the topic.
I’m not complaining about the routes, but the lack of US locos in all of the games baffles me. After the ES44C4, we got nothing else for freight. I’m hoping for some more tier 4 stuff, plus some MAC’s, AC44C6M, Dash 9, etc Hoping High Iron will deliver.
Why be so harsh about licensing? It's just a game. If they don't want to see people making TSW crash compilations on UA-cam, DTG should do something about that
License has nothing to do with locomotive in specific, you can ways add a GE locomotive for example and just don't add the GE locos to the engine, you need to get a License from the railroad which DTG has all the big 4 Class 1 railroads
The fact that Antelope Valley and San Bernardino are very similar, shouldn't happen when creating a new game, I think a new game should have actually something "new". Also as an european the flixtrain vectron, is basically just a repaint version of the current vectron and it will come in the deluxe is just unacceptable. Even tho the flixtrain would have been cool to have maybe as an update
@@potatoman451 I never said it wasn’t. The thing is that you add another vectron as a deluxe edition loco two years in a row and those talbot coaches are very similar to ic and railjet coaches. Of course there are small differences but it’s not something completely new. I would be more excited for it if there wasn’t already a vectron.
I feel that when I went from tsw3 to 4 I got excited but saying that I found only little visual differences but going to another one already there is so many routes they could do instead of doing new games all the time
Just found your channel today. I really appreciate your professionalism and your down to earth personality. You have earned a subscriber. Thank you for your work.
I only play TSW for the US Freight routes and the new TSW 5 just looks meh. As an Australian I would LOVE to see some Australian routes but I'll keep on dreaming for that. One day I'll try Run 8 .. till then, more US freight routes!
I just started to get into Run 8. A lot to learn but what it offers is miles beyond TSW. Might not be as pretty but is not about the looks. Try it sooner than later. If you like trains it’s the way to go.
@@Mr_Lamont The U.S, Canada and Australia all have long freight trains. Being from the U.S, I would be happy with any of the 3 countries for freight. I am not a big passenger train guy. I just want some decent long freight routes. It's more like dovetail Passenger simulator than train sim world.
Trainz has a ton of Australian content. It is less sim more game but can still be played very much like a sim. Highly recommend if you want some good Aussie content!
I was more hoping for a better route on the US content side like a another freight route instead of a another passenger route because for me doing a passenger service going down a steep hill is easy doing a passenger service but doing a freight service is hard but easy for me so I like more challenging stuff.
I don't understand why we just don't have one game that they keep constantly updating. A new game to basically be the same game every year is pointless. U had a huge roadmap for TSW 4 just for most of it to be part of a new game.
I'm a Brit and I'm sad for you guys. I love American content too, especially the freight which is unique. I want more US routes and say that on the forums.
I'm afraid of the overall quality of the routes. Everything feels rushed and very basic modelled. Compare it to a great airport in MSFS, like Aerosoft Brussels, any tsw route just lacks realism... the buildings are all caroonish and basic. And it gets boring quick because everything is so predictable. Even the "hard" scenarios are so easy and boring.
Dovetail has some audacity to call their games "simulators". They will never have the realism that Run8 has. Actual railroaders have tried giving Dovetail technical advice regarding how to make running the trains more realistic for North American railroading, but Dovetail essentially tell them to go kick rocks. Run8 does not get nowhere near enough attention by people that look for simulators to play.
I'm still buying the deluxe, but i agree with you 100% i am also american born and raised and would love to see more US content. But sadly from what i've seen a lot of commuter/passenger railroads in the US usually decline licensing when it comes to a request to have their equipment in a simulator game. I assume it's cause they fear people can learn to operate their equipment and from there they can possibly Hijack in person causing havoc/possible deaths.
I wish they would add the orange and red lines since I pass through Ruggles quite often during the Amtrak Acela Providence routes. I was impressed with the Commuter Rail routes
It would have caused a ton of problems or break the game and y'all would complain like crazy. Remember tsw is really big now and the core has been changed a lot. Adding vr on top of that is going to cause more problems
Whilst I enjoyed many routes of train sim world, I saw trailer for 5 and immediately think that there is a lack of innovation and pushing outside the box to warrant new titles. I'm not some huge hater or something of dovetail, they have things to do too, money to make and bills to pay, I respect that. Nonetheless, the routes are from the same three countries and look identical to what we had before (freight and high speed). I also really think the best thing they could do optimisation wise is try to remove the scenery-loading induced stutter which really decreases enjoyment. That would warrant working on and pricing for a new game, but if they keep the same engine/programming issues to continue to persist, I can't really justify buying new routes because they'll have more stuff in it with the same memory issues.
How you were saying as an American with the lack of American routes you feel left out I can relate to that being a Canadian. Only 1 Canadian route and it was on freight. I mostly like driving American subway style routes like LIRR since it's the closest thing to subways here where I'm from.
Pro: it's a free upgrade for anyone with an older TSWA, obviously routes will cost extra. So what I'm planning on doing is upgrade to TSW 5, wait for the Just Trains Carlisle route and get that and stock up on the WCML when it's on sale. Cons: we're still being constrained by 8th gen consoles and it's basically the same core game since TSW 2 being re-released yet again as a 'new game'.
The fact that the steam page for TSW5 already has 104 DLCs, averaging around £20 each shows they are just money grabbing, rather than actively trying to improve each version of the game.
I only picked up TSW in April this year and my spend to date is over £400.00. No doubt this will go up, I have made no decision regarding TSW5 yet, WCML interests me, but will it end up like ECML, just a section of track.
My biggest issue is the overall performance issue with the previous Train Sim World series. This may be due to the game engine they're always relying on. If they manage to upgrade the game engine, I will happily buy there products.
As a German, I also feel neglected by DTG. I think DTG's main market is UK, the last route we got was Rosenheim Salzburg and that was also 8 months ago. The 101 is also a garbage DLC. And neither Germany nor the US got steam locomotives. I would be very happy about a DM&IR Yellowstone or 844. A German steam locomotive would also be cool, but I also really like the US stuff.
Yeah the DTG's main market is the UK, they just forgot about the rest of the world. Just think there are so many nations in the world and they only have licenses from three countries in the world, I think this is statistically impossible, I'm from Italy, they never take in consideration to make a route in italy, but i said "ok, we will never have italy in TS/TSW, but maybe the rest of the Europe?" But they only make routes in the UK or Germany, we have like two routes in Switzerland (always RhB, when SBB network is so cool), France we have the same high speed route since TS and Austria they started making something. The only cool thing in TSW5 for me is the Netherlands route, finally a new country, something new, and I hope they didn't make just one route in Netherlands and then forget about this country
@@bazooka4095 A route in Tyrol would be very cool or something in Spain, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Canada, Greece or Sweden. For TS there are a few routes in Italy, nothing from DTG, but I think RSSLO has something in Italy. But it's just very limited to the UK at the moment. Some of the German routes were simply patched badly, for example Bremen Oldenburg, Rapid Tranist or Aschaffenburg Germünden are almost no longer playable
@@SteveOwnzzz The Fiat SIG bogies (Fiat Y 0270 S) look horrible to my eye (Eurofima wagon), the others except for the control wagon don't look particularly good either. Car 10 is missing, in reality the train driver's compartment is usually in there where you set the FIS, that should be included at €36 and they promise the highest level of realism in TSW. That's a no go for me, considering that the train driver comes into mode, the vehicle package is very unrealistic again. The car addresses don't match. NBÜ doesn't work. When I was on a 642 recently the Mesa 23 looked different
This video is exactly how I, and apparently a lot of the comment section, are feeling. Glad it was said. Dovetail needs to fix their business model if they want their product to grow. To touch on the American routes thing, as someone who lives in the Northeast, I wish we had an expanded LIRR/Metro North. We have some other Metro North routes in TS Classic. But I wholeheartedly agree that I can’t get as excited when every route is for Europe. Not that I’m not happy for my European rail fans because I’m glad one subsection is getting the content they want and deserve. I just wish the distribution was a bit more even.
Those of use who have been playing since 2017 CSX Heavy Haul, I think we are not excited because we have seen the possibilities and then have seen the reality of what comes out. TSW2 was going in such a hopeful direction but then it became re-packaging the same engine each year and putting a new number on it, does not impress now.
As a Brit, I am interested in trains and routes from all over the world. I just wish there were some trains and routes from all over the world instead of the usual three or four countries!
Got out of it in TSW3 and haven't looked back. Aside from all the other issues, there just isn't enough steam and other vintage power/rolling stock to keep my interest. Railroader and Rolling Line. Now we're talkin'.
I completely agree l am absolutely fed up and sick of having to install all my content every year on a painfully slow internet that will take over a week or two to continually install everything l own..
Given that individual DLC releases are £29.99 throughout the year, I get quite excited when they announce a brand new game for £39.99 with 3 full routes packaged in.
Excellent points. I completely agree that the lack of VR in main core game makes no sense in 2024. I also agree that the VR Quest game has 'something' of interest but it does not look at the level of PC game. Have never understood the lack of interest in VR in train games on PC.
Man multiplayer would be awesome. Imagine joining a server with 20 players going up and down the line. It would be great and so much fun and would most likely increase their audience as more players would be intrigued by this and would want to play. I also think they need to add a few more London Uk routes as majority of its fan base come from the Uk and would love to see it. Hopefully in the future we will see this
It's even worse for us French people, we got one short route with its one really poorly made TGV and that was on train sim world 2. People's been making their own french routes and equipments on train simulator classic since forever because there's nothing for us anywhere otherwise.
I'm from socal, so the san Bernardino line is pretty cool to me. i still see your point though, more content like Cajon pass would be cool, like Donner pass would be awsome
@@Samyyy_95cyou wouldn't say that if they did a proper Chicago map. The lines this company decides to use are boring maybe but there are amazing routes they could do if they weren't lazy.
@@markvogel5872 Keep in mind most people don't care about routes other than their home area, hence they find other countries boring, me personally, I don't care about any non european routes.
I play both flight and train sims and DTGs practices just put tme off. They make lackluster routes which are full of bugs, the majority of which never get fixed. Just trains come along and show what can be done by a team who cares. At least with the free option for TSW5 I can pick up the routes I want earlier rather than waiting for the base game to be really cheap in a sale, being forced to buy routes I have no interest in isn't the way to get me onboard. Microsoft with flight Sim put out a huge number of free updates to the engine and scenery and make their money with a decent marketplace. Yes there's a new version coming out this year but that has (from what we've seen) big improvements to the engine and scenery generation so I feel thats justified. Dovetails new features list sounds like the minimum they can get away with and still pretend its a new game. They always seem to go for the path of least effort. BTW, its nice to see an ambassador saying what they think rather than glossing over DTG BS.
I would like an historic route, like the B&O, Conrail, Seaboard Airline, Atlantic Coast Line, and new maps like Waycross, GA. I would also like a classical EMD GP9.
I don't see anyone buying a Quest either for Train Sim World. I do see them buying a Quest for Batman Arkham Shadow, Iron-Man,Assassin's Creed Nexus, Asgard's Wrath 2, Resident Evil 4, Medal of Honor... and then realizing also minor games like Train Sim World are available. None of these are available on PC in VR anyway...
I had hoped they would add the Tokaido Shinkansen line with its final stop in Hakata Station, with like 3 trains, the N700S, Doctor Yellow and the 0系. Because in my opinion the Tokaido Shinkansen is THE highspeed train line with its scenic route.
at this point it is "Train Sim World: UK/Germany and a bit of USA". I'm italian, and form my point of view I think that at this point I'm a bit tired by driving on other countries routes. I mean they are awesome and I'm happy that they are adding the Class 390, but... I mean, at this point I know I'm loosing my trust on dovetail. Idk that's what i think. Maybe all this backlash Dovetail will notice, but i doubt it...
I am from India. And as you said the name is "TRAIN SIM WORLD" and it doesn't have other than UK content. They can add Asian train routes. I want to see the japanese train and the beautiful routes of Japan.
I can never get excited about train sim world. Don’t care anything about driving flat faced engines in the greater New York area. I would love to have some awesome longer distance Amtrak routes out side of metro corridors. A Denver to Glenwood Springs route would be amazing. Would be able to throw in the genesis and could even do the F40. It’s really a damn shame we don’t have amtraks flagship for the last 25 years or so in the game at this point. Also would like to see some older eras like clinchfield. I’ve been sticking to ts classic because of this
Yeah, same Ish for us US cats. Northeast corridor has been neglected along with the Metro North Routes. The Hudson and New Haven lines should have been added along with extending the NE corridor to DC at least.
Here’s my two cents (for what it’s worth lol)… I don’t really care that much about additions in features personally. I think the concept of TSW is wonderful on its face. I get to enjoy a beautiful, ASMR experience of cruising down the rails of the world in a bunch of different locomotives, each with their own unique responsibilities to manage. The one thing I expect of this game is simply that it works and runs smoothly. And ever since TSW 2, this game has been a slow, choppy, glitchy, immersion-breaking mess. I ran TSW 2020 on my same Acer Nitro 4 1/2 years ago and it ran flawlessly. Now, I feel like I need a NASA computer to run it. I don’t want to drop 3 G’s on a super computer. DTG needs to focus almost exclusively on optimizing the performance of the game engine before any of this other shi… stuff. And on a secondary note, this game and its additions are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Without getting too political, it’s no secret that inflation is an issue in the world right now. So I get the price increases to some extent, but that doesn’t make my original statement any less valid. I’m not buying DLCs without them being north of 50% off at the very least. So while I appreciate the free upgrade to the new game, I’m essentially getting the same flawed, sloppy game I already had but with new aesthetics. So honestly, I don’t see the point in further investing in DTG and their partners’ products if the game isn’t going to perform any better (and in some cases, potentially worse) on my PC. So I guess in conclusion, if DT somehow reads this comment, I’m going to withhold personally funding them until they focus less on pumping out dozens of glitchy, poor quality content and more on making this game run better. Because I think I can have a reasonable expectation that my fairly well-equipped gaming laptop is able to run their game.
Like he said, I feel like DTG should do something to what they do with TSC with TSW where instead of releasing a brand new game every year, they release a new content update where the core features are free, but the new routes and trains are DLC’s
Route hopping brings me back to the time when I first played GTA Vice City on PS2 in 2005 where to get to the next island via connected highway it had a loading screen to load the new area. Good times.
Honestly, at this point I hope they take ETS2 route, update main core of the game, release heck ton of map DLCs and stuff (which there is a lot already), no ""new"" game release every year. The only good thing about TSW5 is that I can save a heck ton of money when buying special edition (at a discount) and get a ton of routes, locos, scenarios and stuff. They sure do need to cover alot more countries, its a good thing that we're getting Dutch and Japanese stuff soon enough, and I hope they expand on those so they're not just one offs.
I agree fully with what you stated as an American from the northeast I don't see myself buying this. I'll stick with TSC. I wish we would have a DTG US Office. When we got LIRR 2.0 as that is close to home, I was disappointed with it all they really did was slap in a new train and a new branch and that's it they never added anything new like the 3rd track or diesel trains.
Personally I would like to see a diesel branch on the LIRR. A lot of people have been asking for it. NJT diesels , bright line , Amtrak p42s and a few routs to go with it. The surfliner would have been a lot better
i'm excited for the San Bernardino line. i used to catch that line in San Bernardino ride the full line transfer to the Antelope valley line and get off at Newhall to go to Six Flags back when i lived in CA i think its so cool i can completely recreate the ride
I bought CSX Heavy Haul thinking they were being honest about the simulation aspect and regretted it. They suckered me once and never again. I've checked out some of the versions since then when they were free on GamePass or Epic and they still don't have things that were supposed to be in the first version, mainly an editor. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Can’t wait to buy the same game just with minor updates and new routes which should just be a DLC 🔥 (I just want conducator mode and the Metrolink route) TSW needs to listen to our voices more man, TSW is the new FIFA.
What I want is a good American steam locomotive, man. The game needs more steam in general in my opinion. I also firmly agree that these yearly releases are unnecessary and annoying, especially when there’s no real big updates within the game.
I feel the same way. They have left the U.S fans out of dry. Against my better judgement I bought TSW4, after owning 3. It's the same crap over and over. I'm not buying anymore until they update their crappy game engine. I'll stick with Run8
we don't need a tsw 5 ...or 4 ....or 3 .....or 2 if they had just stuck to the system of having a decent core simulation engine (e.g. tsc) and made dlcs around it instead of making them like a new game each time then it wouldn't be that bad and you wouldn't have all these compatibility issues. but d(f)tg games have developed themselves into a corner where it's like this now and there's no turning back until they start it all over again from the ground up (tsw: a new era- anyone lol). and nothing will change because the vast majority of people just want dlcs of a route/train that runs 5 miles near them instead of what we really need: a better simulation. and also they think d(f)tg is a family member of theirs and will slavishly defend them no matter what they put out or what they do; they could literally release a empty base map with one piece of track -nothing else- and they'd jump through mental hoops as to why it's good and you're just a hater. go for tsc if you want a proper simulator, because at this point this is just lever up and down sim 2024.
I am brand new to the Train Sim World and I started when I saw the TSW5 starter pack. I downloaded it on Steam 3 days ago from the time of this comment and already today, I find the game very very disappointed, especially with all the bugs I already discovered with what little Loco's I have available to me. I bought the standard edition the day after the starter pack so I can try out the new loco's and the routes. I am US myself and I want to see more US trains, like the Bright Line in Florida, but at the same time, I can understand why there isn't a lot because well... US don't really have a lot of passenger trains. We use to be #1 in trains, now we are far farrrrrr behind from what the rest of the world have, but let's not get into the real world stuff. As for the game, the tutorial doesn't really teach you everything as a new player. It only teaches you the basic and I mean "basic", in other words, the game auto sets other things up for you to the point the tutorial only shows you how to stick a master key in a hole and use the throttle and brakes and maybe a few tiny other features, but it's still not enough. As of right now I have about 7-8 loco I can drive.. well, really 4 because the other ones are bugged so bad, I can't even start it. The buttons that I need to press to start the loco is not accessible to me so there's no point. The coupling barely works. Only train I can couple are the one that has "hooks" and the BR 423. The rest of them don't even work. Ok, i see i'm ranting more than I am saying what I think about the game, but I guess as you can see, I'm not happy with it and I got even more unhappy when I looked up and saw what others are saying about it and what DT is doing to the player. When I saw the price of those DLC's and what all you even get in them, the first thing that came to my mind was, "another greedy company". I also agree with you about how TSW should be just "one game" and not force players to have to buy a new game engine just to bring pass dlcs onboard. I mean, it's in the name, Train Sim "World". One world, one place to drop all the contents to make players happy. Anyways, sorry if my comment is well... long and boring, I'm sure not many will bother reading, even though I agree with other people about these kind of things. There is just so much to say about this but all I can say is, to save me money and "time" in the long run, I won't be buying nothing until I see improvements and bug fixes updates and players start getting happy. I wanna see the reputation go up before I pay another penny on this so for now, I'll just "try" to enjoy what i have.
Good shout. I'm reasonably happy with what's coming and ordered Deluxe anyway, but even the UK is a bit short changed by only having the WCML South go from Euston to Milton Keynes. In TSC it goes all the way to Birmingham so they could at least have managed Rugby. They really seem to have thrown the towel in on US freight but with routes like FRCE and the new Alco's coming out for TSC, the reason given of Class 1 railroads not offering any more access doesn't quite cut it. Maybe they decided TSW just can't compete with Run 8 and threw the towel in. They have still left steam (traction) in an appalling state, worse physics than early MSTS. Not a word about save game, whether more slots (there's going to be over 70 routes soon) or more reliability (not losing objective data when you save after jumping to a new train). No one from DTG responding to pings on the forum about it either. Highlight for me will be the announced Just Trains WCML Shap set in the 1980's with a tap changer AC loco. That's going to be the real gem of TSW5.
I am ONLY exited because I get to update from TSW2 to version 5 for free. I don't really care for the new routes, or at least not enough to the point that I want to pay full price for them yet.
So I get why people are not excited for San Bernardino. Personally, though, I grew up riding Metrolink and even worked for the company for a few years. SB Line in particular has a lot of great memories of visiting my friends in Redlands. So while I get that people unfamiliar with the area are disappointed, I happen to be in the niche of people that really connect with this one. Altogether a fair opinion in this video. I agree 100% on your opinions on the route hopping.
Being Canadian, the TSW they did form Hamilton to to Aldershot, the cut off for Windsor and McMillan yard are there, but the never extend that. I don't mind doing American routes, but the locomotives for CNR are the GP9 and GP38, and that is all. I would still like to see an extensive upgrade to the Locomotives for CNR or CPKC in their new colours. Plus I wanted to see the Jeppson Live Weather they have on Steam Flight Sim, and a multi-player game, although I know that must be a dispatcher role for a route taken. I know it gets better as time carries, but there should be 2 markets, Europe and North America. I know that the CNR and CPKC both run stateside, so why not do both with a drive thru at the Windsor tunnel. I still have TSW3 and have not done the 4 and they are already coming out with the 5 So now it gonna be expensive because I will probably need 4 to get 5. All I know is that I hope they get better at the TSW.
im totally agree with you. France is the best country for trains in the world and no route no trains no content just a false tgv dlc totally wrong route is boring no kvb simulation nothing when you see the content of trains and just germany and middle age UK rails road are in this game... its not a train game its a germany uk game of trains. Italy spain france potugal all are most modern in trains and develloped than uk and germany so i dont understand this type of games with a title train sim world probably theirs developpers never visit others countries. the east usa coast you have plenty of routes to do in this game there is some beautiful japenese route too i dont understand this egocentric strategy of making a uk germany train game and say its WORLD TRAIN SIM game... love your contents on your channel stay safe. It's good to see you being honest about this game. I just found out about it from watching your video but it was hard to be excited and that was before you started getting into it. Hell, I'm still playing TSW2. I even have 3 & 4. I'll eventually get around to playing them. I hate seeing companies release games that are barely an improvement over the one that came before it. I know EA has been doing it for years but they are a much bigger and well known company that can get away with it even though they anger gamers as well. DTG shouldn't be trying to copy that. I can't see it working long term for them.
I would settled for an Amtrak P42 which could be layered on any American route also it could also introduce the super-liner and viewliner coaches to the game . And adding Santa Fe 3751 or 2926 has an American steam dlc could bring more players back. I’m pretty sure the steam crews would be delightful to help dovetails. (Now I wait for someone to debunk my idea)
I definitely agree with what was said here. As sad as it is, TSW is unfortunately turning more towards the sports games M.O. when it comes to new releases and content updates. Make a new game every year that is for all intents and purposes the exact same game as the last installment but with a graphical touch up and a few features that should have been an update. I just hope this trend will entice more people to turn their heads towards other projects like Run 8 so they get more funding and can become and even more worthy competitor so the genre is spiced up.
completely agree with ur statements the other thing too the editor and the docs they give for tsw isnt very clear on how to make content its very lack luster other thing too is yeah people are making train simulators but a lot of them dont really do usa or its just one route with rolling stock none of them provide a editor based tool like train sim classic or train sim world or trainz has. Trainz out of all them has the easiest developer tools aside from scripting but route building is the best for trainz but its not a full on simulator. Also a lot of these companies dont have very good communication skills either.
It is kinda crazy that we only got two US routes for Train Sim World 3 (Cajon Pass and New York - Trenton) and ONE for Train Sim World 4 (Antelope Valley, I'm not counting LIRR since it is a remaster)
DTG lost me last year with their introduction of TSW 4. I'm done with buying newer versions when what they should have been fixing the issues, problems and routes instead of bringing put the same old problems and calling it Version X + 1. The name is Tucker, NOT Sucker!
i agree with u on the point that it could just be a major update. its starting to get frustrating that we have to keep paying for a whole new game, when we already have it. base game dlc could be free, while others can be dlc as normal. i also sometimes feel that with the approach they are going for makes it feel that older dlc get abandonded and get up having bugs that could affect or completely ruin them. the starter pack is a start of them improving this but i still think its an unnecessary business model that dovetail is following.
As a British person, I can say that Antelope Valley was boring as hell to drive with ultra minimal content. San Bernardino Line also feels like a lazy follow on. I don't see why they don't go for something with some jazz, like Florida's Brightline!
I recently purchased train Sim World 4 on Xbox One a few months ago and while I like it, I wish it had a HUGE update for new trains and routes (bought the special edition for $30). On PC, I still have Train Sim World Classic that I have not played in forever and I might just get TSW4 on PC, just for the better graphics and fluid gameplay. On a side note, your videos kinda inspired my reason to purchase the game... The Amtrak Acela routes are pretty neat, since they take place in my hometown of Boston. I should request the other MBTA lines such as red and orange lines. If it has mod support, I would model the trains myself
Only problem I have with train Sim world at this point is the lack and and half done us content and routes don't get me wrong I enjoyed the UK routes and the German routes but lately since train Sim world 2 I've been seeing a lot of lack of us content I understand a lot of Europeaners find the US content boring but you can't speak for everybody I'm American one of my favorite routes is Great Western Express but long story short I really hope dovetail give the game some balance again because I really do enjoy these games but if they keep bring out lazy and half ass content I think I might just give up on the serious 🤷
First of all I doubt they can afford it, only sim that has it is MSFS because Microsoft owns Bing Maps. Second of all, that kind of scenery only really looks good from the air, the actual buildings are not very high quality
Funnily enough that was the original plan for the cancelled Microsoft Train Simulator 2 project all the way back in 2009 using the flight simulator X engine. Such a shame that never came to fruition.
I bailed out of this scheme is TSW 3. My feeling are exactly like yours, nobody does it like them but they need to push just a little bit more to achieve greatness. To me it seems like they know that, and they capitilise on it. I promised to myself to not come back to TSW until routes are more open world like and when locos and routes DLCs are compatible across the board with every new release.
Yeah I’m really tired of these west coast desert routes
I live in the east in Ohio and up in the Cleveland area would be a cool setting for a route; loads of industry plus really cool scenery. That route would be NS, maybe an AC446CM, SD40, and Sd70ace plus layers from HSC (these engines are for DTG if they want to be lazy and reskin some and give us one new)
Personally for this I would also want a Dash 9, SD70, SD60E, ET44, SD75M, but that’s not going to happen soon lol

Yeah and all the stock is reused.
This is so real, pacific surliner would've been way better then what's coming, kinda crazy how in the trailer there are light poles in the middle of the highway, barley an traffic, cars floating, hell they might even have the traffic on the wrong side of the road 😂
EA can get away with this business model on games like FIFA and NHL - a studio with a niche product like Train Simulator can not
well they very well can, thats why we're at tsw5.
So much stuff could've just been updated instead of re-releasing over and over again.

@@Maggus_ the problem is that they keep releasing the same title with a minimal amount of changes and new DLC‘s instead of fixing core issues via Updates.

For US content DT seems to only focus on East and West routes only, the South has some pretty amazing routes too.

Only doing fast routes with lots of services and mountains will exclude the vast majority of US rail.
the midwest has the BNSF/Metra race track in chicago too
And if you want more exciting, Denver or Winter Park to Glenwood Springs, on the California Zephyr.
If Sega (famous for Sonic the Hedgehog) took over the TSW franchise from DTG and actually gave us what we wanted, things would be a lot better.
I bet the editor will never be released in a "full working state". DTG will always put limitations on it.
Greed Works!! According to Gordon Gekko. Dove Tail has a master class on how greed is successful - it is called Train Sim World.
Exactly they just want the money
They could also do what MSFS do and procedutally generate the whole world and sell DLC for lines station to make them hyper accurate
Litteraly just dropped 4 and allready announcing 5

You should look into Run8 if you want a more realistic Train Simulator for North American Operations, it even has multiplayer!
Agreed... US of A is massive country with plenty of good places to base routes on... but the lack of US freight is more than disappointing...
The fact that the last Canadian route was in Tsw never to be done again it’s honestly not worth it
Ouch. I didnt realize that
@@danielbradley88 I'm building the kingston sub on train sim classic because I was tired of no Canadian routes.
which is very unfortunate.
I'll stick to SimRail, and you should to 👍
There are some great train routes in Mexico that are being ignored, the Mexico City Metro, Guadalajara's train, Chepe Express Train, Mayan Train and all of the freight lines that run on the pacific side of the country
I have never thought about this before, I would love to see some Ferromex routes in a train sim, that would be amazing!
They dropped the ball again. No deltic engine in uk. And no amtrak gensis for u guys.
I’m hoping for some more tier 4 stuff, plus some MAC’s, AC44C6M, Dash 9, etc
Hoping High Iron will deliver.
Licensing issues. If they can't secure them or it costs too much, that's that.
I think licensing is more for railroads then the actual locos for that matter
Why be so harsh about licensing? It's just a game. If they don't want to see people making TSW crash compilations on UA-cam, DTG should do something about that
License has nothing to do with locomotive in specific, you can ways add a GE locomotive for example and just don't add the GE locos to the engine, you need to get a License from the railroad which DTG has all the big 4 Class 1 railroads
@@THE_IRON_HORSE Don't believe you since I've heard Dovetail talking about this back with TSW3.
The flixtrain has a completely different interior and there are exterior differences. It's also a brand new coach set. That's not a reskin

All I would love to see is a Genesis main focused route for TSW. Or something much older with a Streamliner during the 50-60s era
The US routes feel more poorly made as well, and less detailed than the European ones in regards ambience and just general environment
Metra would be fire. Mbta is the only thing that’s keeps me excited.
I wish they would add the orange and red lines since I pass through Ruggles quite often during the Amtrak Acela Providence routes. I was impressed with the Commuter Rail routes
With the UEVR mod even Train Sim 4 runs almost 100% native in it. There was no reason for them not to add it to the normal game.
Of course the main interest is in the UK it's a UK based company lol.

I think u are right. This is true

I wish they would add saluda grade 😢
They've been lacking on American maps
I would like an historic route, like the B&O, Conrail, Seaboard Airline, Atlantic Coast Line, and new maps like Waycross, GA. I would also like a classical EMD GP9.

An Indian route would be mega
I can never get excited about train sim world. Don’t care anything about driving flat faced engines in the greater New York area. I would love to have some awesome longer distance Amtrak routes out side of metro corridors. A Denver to Glenwood Springs route would be amazing. Would be able to throw in the genesis and could even do the F40. It’s really a damn shame we don’t have amtraks flagship for the last 25 years or so in the game at this point. Also would like to see some older eras like clinchfield. I’ve been sticking to ts classic because of this
TSW has Clinchfield, but it's pretty much a snoozefest. Although the locos are pretty dope.
Yeah, same Ish for us US cats. Northeast corridor has been neglected along with the Metro North Routes. The Hudson and New Haven lines should have been added along with extending the NE corridor to DC at least.
I am not paying for the same game over and over again bruh. Sticking with TSW4
Here’s my two cents (for what it’s worth lol)…
I don’t really care that much about additions in features personally.
Remember, Microsoft train simulator started the whole thing. so try open rails it’s fantastic
Pacific Surfliner from San Luis Obispo to San Diego in one map would me dope
I'll stick with Run8
we don't need a tsw 5
...or 4
....or 3
.....or 2
if they had just stuck to the system of having a decent core simulation engine (e.g. tsc) and made dlcs around it instead of making them like a new game each time then it wouldn't be that bad and you wouldn't have all these compatibility issues.
but d(f)tg games have developed themselves into a corner where it's like this now and there's no turning back until they start it all over again from the ground up (tsw: a new era- anyone lol).
and nothing will change because the vast majority of people just want dlcs of a route/train that runs 5 miles near them instead of what we really need: a better simulation. and also they think d(f)tg is a family member of theirs and will slavishly defend them no matter what they put out or what they do; they could literally release a empty base map with one piece of track -nothing else- and they'd jump through mental hoops as to why it's good and you're just a hater.
go for tsc if you want a proper simulator, because at this point this is just lever up and down sim 2024.
Italians meanwhile: well at least you have some content
I still have TSW3 and have not done the 4 and they are already coming out with the 5
So now it gonna be expensive because I will probably need 4 to get 5.
Bye :)
Issue is licensing
@@potatoman451 iam french and i have une of my family membre work at sncf and we talked about that some Time ago. And for him its just ego of german dev
Im betting there's a disgruntled team member just waiting for the right moment to release the codeing that allows for a simple overwrite.
You don't have to buy TSW 5. It's a free core upgrade.
if you want the new routes, you do so. At that point it is kinda pointeless to install the free trial that it pretty much is @trainsimplay4780
i agree with u on the point that it could just be a major update. its starting to get frustrating that we have to keep paying for a whole new game, when we already have it. base game dlc could be free, while others can be dlc as normal. i also sometimes feel that with the approach they are going for makes it feel that older dlc get abandonded and get up having bugs that could affect or completely ruin them. the starter pack is a start of them improving this but i still think its an unnecessary business model that dovetail is following.
As a British person, I can say that Antelope Valley was boring as hell to drive with ultra minimal content. San Bernardino Line also feels like a lazy follow on. I don't see why they don't go for something with some jazz, like Florida's Brightline!
Wild for me. Considering ill be trying this franchise the first time on game pass.
Tsw should do what Microsoft flight sim did by using Google earth to map the whole planet. They could progressively add trains.
