This is what happens when you rush content out and don't take the proper time to make quality. Quality over quantity is a philosophy that should be the standard. Not the exception.
G'day I'm from Newcastle NSW Australia and I have TSW 1,2,3 and 4. The graphics are very plain, boring even. The Jubilee locomotives were built as three cylinder locomotives, well have a look under the boiler in TSW it's not there. The firing problem that you have with automatic firing we'll turn on manual firing forget about the blower and open the front and back damper doors 100% open with fire doors open. Cannot wait for railroads online to be released on Xbox One.
@@CollinBlack-j1y What Dovetail should do is have a proper Quality Assessment Team. People who will give proper feedback. Not just be yes men who will accept any old schlock. That's why when I do plan to buy Boston Sprinter, it'll be my only TSW DLC purchase and I have TSW 2. Friend bought it and that will be my only purchase. I currently have four more routes I plan to buy for Train Sim Classic. Tennessee Pass, the upcoming Milwaukee Road route, and the upcoming Northern Pacific route + the Montana Hi Line.
@@JessicaKasumi1990 They did make a whole song and dance a few years ago about hiring a dedicated quality assurance director. Doubt the person ever showed up for work. Or perhaps yet another lie from DTG and never hired the person in the first place. The company seems to run on yes men and that includes the DTG die hard white knights out there lapping up every ounce of crap spewed from this ridiculous company and claiming it's all great. Their money continues to fuel this garbage train.
@@JessicaKasumi1990 I agree, the graphics are very naff, and the only way they really look any good is if you have the screen percentage turned up causing slideshow framerates. The lack of any proper modding support destroys the franchise considering DTG's approach to the development. They keep releasing extortionate paid updates with half-baked "features" but have absolutely no intention on fixing the many glaring issues with the gameplay. They really should stop calling it a simulator, the trains just don't feel convincing, the acceleration and braking of most trains is over-exaggerated (even the Blackpool Branches Pacer has magnets for brakes when you compare it to the AP version), the sounds are mostly underwhelming (they don't even try with the passenger cabin sounds) and the countless gimmicks like the collectibles at the stations/"Mastery" rewards/phony Livery Designer* contribute nothing to the simulation experience and really give off the message that DTG are trying to make it like an arcade game for casual players. (*If they really wanted serious players to make their own detailed, realistic liveries then they would probably give you repaint templates for editing in any good graphics package and not showcase unrealistic/fantastical liveries on the game.) I'd even go as far as to say that we would be in a better position if the Armstrong Powerhouse (yes) took over the development of TSW - wheelslip scripts anyone?
Such a damn shame what happened to steam development in this sim, especially since it was one of the few aspects of the game I was holding out hope for. Diesels and electrics are fun from time to time, but not really my main interest. At least I have Century of Steam to look forward to...
You are 100 percent correct about the Oakville sub route it is interesting that licensing is the reason go transit doesn't exist would also be so cool if dovetail had a Guelph sub DLC as there is so much more interesting about that route than the Oakville sub
I've not even been keeping up with TSW, I'm still using TSW 2... I do not see how people have enough money to be throwing at DTG for their products, and even then, DTG doesn't seem to bother to use that money to make better quality routes, i.e. longer and more detailed scenery and more drivability other than passenger services. It seems almost fraudulent to me. Which is mostly why I don't bother investing in further TSW games or products, currently I will happily stick with TSW 2 and the two maybe three DLCs that I own with it. Great Vid btw! 👍
As an american that lives by the NEC, I honestly enjoy NEC: NY - Trenton. The only nit picks I have are: No ALP-46A, poor sounds for the ACS-64, Acela and Metroliner horns, poor sound for the Acela ebell, In correct catenary gantries especially in Trenton. AND Still no dlc for the Arrow IIIs, ALP45-DP, and Comet V cabcar with coaches. Also NY Penn Station still has floating assets and the rolling stock still clips the platforms and pillars. Another thing that no one mentioned is the the platforms in Newark Penn are too low
One thing i really wish train sim world would fix is the passengers. I'd be at a starting terminus and my train would be choked with passengers, but once i open the doors they scatter out, (like they've held hostage) and im left to depart with a near empty train the rest of the ride!
if money isnt a major issue, wcml, ecml, goblin lone (suffragette line), brighton main line and bakerloo line are fun ones. ignore the fact that they are all london
I wish DTG would sort out NTP I am from Huddersfield and all the passengers get out at Either Manchester or Leeds. So by the time you get to Huddersfield you have no passengers on your train or getting on at all
Ah, what a nice way to spend 23 minutes. Enjoyable as always ... You are saving me $$ again. DTG will always be a rip off, in my humble opinion, and you keep proving it.. Thanks again.
I absolutely agree with you about the CNR route. It is boring as heck. But it is ours and still fun. I just wish they would upgrade the Locomotives as the CNR has Tier 4 Locs as well. If you know the Canadian National routes, when you're coming to Hamilton, there is a cut-off to the right. The line goes up the Niagara Escarpment and onwards to Windsor Ontario, and into the Detroit Tunnel that goes under the river and into the U.S.A. and CNR has routes down there. When you head upwards to Aldershot, when you are in Burlington, there is a cut-off to the left that would lead to both the Vaughan Intermodal Terminal and further east the McMillan Yard for freight. Before going to McMillan, the line goes from a double trackage, you come down a hill and are then placed onto a single line across the Humber River Valley. Then it goes into double trackage again for a bit, and then into a series of tracks and into the Main CNR Freight Yard in Vaughan. Further east, you can do freight work just north of Orillia and onto the Bala Sub for North Bay and onwards to Vancouver BC. If you can go east from McMillan and south along the Newcastle route, it leads to the same route to the Union Station in Toronto. But, if you come out of McMillan and stay east, out of Pickering, you come back to the original route from Hamilton and onwards to Montreal, Quebec City, and all the way to Halifax Nova Scotia. GO Transit would run along the Hamilton route into Aldershot and onwards to Toronto and then east from the Unions Station to Oshawa, where they go under the CNR bridge in Pickering to Oshawa where GO would come to an end. But you are correct, I get a CNR line but it was quickly done and not given much thought. Still, it is a CNR Route and I will take what they can give me...
The great UA-camr moaner pissed off that the LGV route only takes around 29mins to complete when travelling at speeds of 300kph, you know just like how it is in real life. Or the West Cornwall Local route taking an hour to complete end to end of 44 miles, but real life this route has you travelling at low speeds of 40mph or less.
West Cornwall Local is defiantly one of my contenders for disappointing route coverage. I really love the Plymouth to Penzance route (as I have personally been there irl). And only ending at st Austell doesn’t really help. Putting salt in the wound is that the class 150 is completely broken and I barely drive the class 37 because of the route itself really. Can’t really think of other (UK) routes that I hate on top of my mind.
Oakville Subdivision has a bunch of potential to be a great route. I really hope it gets a proper remaster someday. Also, personally I would say Cane Creek is by far the worst route. Reused rolling stock, reused sounds, scenery glitches. The the route itself is mind numbingly boring. 90% of it is only going 25 mph in a straight line with boring desert plains. The timetable is also horrible with the lowest amount of services out of any route in the game. It only gets interesting around the end where you are inside a valley, but it’s such a short part of the route, it doesn’t really matter. I used to consider West Somerset Railway the most boring, but the recent remaster actually made it pretty enjoyable. Cane Creek makes watching paint dry look fun.
Anyways do people forget about TSG Adding the DB BR 420 For Munchen-Augsburg? Is been like 4 years and is still haven't released yet. I feel like it's going to be another one or two years to add this emu to the game. I was soo excited that i was planning to get it however Since i have a game that's basically outdated, i needed to get the Deluxe version of the TSW 5 (mainly the Pendolino, and Flixtrain Vectron). I feel like this is more longer than they released the BR 313 For East Coastway. Also I am Hyped that the MBTA Commuter Rail Worcester/Framingham Line is coming to the game (since I lived in Worcester for 6 years) I hope they don't screw up the city in the heart of Massachusetts. Still disappointed that HSP-46 is in the game (since it was unreliable at first) I was hoping it would be the GP40MC, or the older F40PH-2C with Hyundai Rotem or kawasaki cars, or even the CTC/BTC-1B comet cars in the game (since the coaches are assigned to the north division) I still dreaming of an MBTA Subway route though. Mainly the Orange and red line.
The 420 is outside of Tsg's control. Hma itself is unable to support more trains without it crashing and dtg have no plans to completely rebuild it. That leaves tsg in limbo because they can't create it for hma. That means they had to delay it until an appropriate route was found (now it's frankfurt-fulda). It's not tsgs fault and they aren't doing it just because they don't like the players. The hsp46 is what dtg had access to and it still runs. There would be no trains in tsw if they only focused on reliable trains lol. Trains break down all the time.
I don't really think that Spirit of Steam deserves the hate. I think it was ruined by the game updates (TSW2 is the most optimised game from Tsw franchise)
I wish Microsoft had continued with Train Simulator as i believe they would have done a better job than Dovetail. Look at their flight simulator game. Keep up the great work telling us your honest opinions 👍
Using the same technology msfs uses for train sim wouldn't work. Close up scenery is really bad but far away, it's good enough. That doesn't work for trains
@@potatoman451 they did do a good train sim and they started on version 2. I'm not saying using the same tech as flight SIM but they could have made train sim better than Dovetail
I wanted to love spirit of steam I thought that steam engines just built pressure slowly but when I got pft and drove the 4f I was happy finally one good steam loco. its annoying to me that out of all the stuff they could have included at the £30 price they gave two mediocre similar looking engines personally I would have put the princess royal instead of the jubilee and left the 8f and also put in a jinty and made it grouping era with everything in lms livery instead of br at least we still have train sim classic
I wish you added East Coastway to this. The entire route feels empty with only the 313, 377 and 66. Why couldn't have they extended it to Ashford or Hastings?
as for Munchen Augsburg, one of first addons I had bought back in... when it got released :D ... and now, when DTG finally made a pretty functioning 146.2 (Kinzingtalbahn) that actually releases properly from LZB and such, you can also run REX services, which are quite fun and engaging... shame tho that 112 got broken again and 114 isnt fixed yet (dont bother running 218 here cos it cannot meet the required times, as it is too slow to accelerate and can only hit 140 kph) but I agree with Luzern Sursee... I can digest the scenery as I mainly focus on driving and indicators and such shenanigans... I can digest the short coverage, cos sometimes you want shorter timetable experience when you only have like 30mins to play :) ... but for me the dealbreaker is the broken ETCS - I can live with justified PZB and other penalty brake things... and ETCS is supposed to be kinda like LZB or ACSES where it beeps to let you know you have to slow down and then you just follow its brake curve... but what it often does here is it often doesnt give you warning in enough time for you to start braking and you almost immediately get a penalty brake... which isnt realistic, cos those systems are supposed to let you know in advance, enough of an advance, and it is also not cool... this is literally the only DLC I dont play (I even played a bit of Sand Patch Grade... and I dont play Cajon Pass cos I dont know how to set up those humongous US freight trains properly :D ) as for steam, since I dont hold the usual railfans' "fetish" for steam locos and such, it doesnt really bother me (I am more fan of newer and modern electric locos and EMUs, and at least to some extent also modern diesels like F125, HSP46 will be nice in the new addon, or BR 218... and if they did Siemens Chargers, maaan :D ) ow maaan, not LGV... the train itself is AWESOME, even has a bit of layer on HS1 (SEHS)... the route itself could have had more stations, and more rolling stock, and still bothers me that while KVB is covered nicely in the manual, the actual route doesnt really utilize it... but I like to drive it occasionally, and I LOVE the power changeover challenge :) fav routes? hmm - Nahverkehr Dresden, Kinzingtalbahn will be there once they fix some issues with ICE-T, Tharander Rampe (and 612 as well), Koln Aachen (especially since they fixed the unplayable Siegen services for 442 and since now you can use the new version of 146.2 here as well)... I dont know, I like most German routes I got... from the UK, London Commuter and SEHS cos I love their service variety, of pathings, different routes within routes, also the WCML is rather nice... and I also enjoy Fife :) ... as for US passenger content, I enjoy all the Amtrak ones, and as for newer Metrolink routes, I love them, except that the rolling stock doesnt really have any safety systems that would punish you for anything :) from recent favs I would also add Midland Mainline, mainly cos of nice, tho rather short but satisfying HST runs :) I usually tend not to nitpick on the scenery, but what can "derail" me quite easily are functional issues, like errors in braking performance, AFB issues etc :) oh, and I LOVE the Austrian content, despite its flaws - like 1116 not having proper LZB/AFB procedure (while BR 182 does, why? :D ), no 1116 passenger services on Vorarlberg (1116 literally does most of passenger work there, either as part of RailJets or as part of IC consists etc, with dostos...) aaand... the sounds on 4024 dont annoy me THAT MUCH, BUT!... the fact they put 4024 as CJX9 on Semmeringbahn almost blew my circuit breakers :D like, 4744/4746 is THE CJX, the whole point of CJX is CityJet Desiro ML unleashed to its full potential, which in case of CJX9 means 140-150 to Wiener Neustadt and 160 kph to Payerbach-Reichenau... not freakin 140 kph capable 4024 lol... but, thats temporarily forgiven, since I am hoping for CityJet Desiro ML and RailJets to get into the game... eventually, as they are the backbones of regional/commuter traffic and longdistance/highspeed traffic rant over :)
With timetable mod Oakville sub is actually pretty good, the models in the route is fairly realistic for example Oakville station in the TSW looks exactly like it in the real life. However the problem with original Oakville sub route is mainly due to no passenger services and in the real life this route has way more passenger trains than freight trains. The mods on Train Sim Community certainly fixed that sadly only PC players can enjoy this improved version of the Oakville sub route
I think the CN one is a bit unfair when it comes to the short routes. I don't have that one yet, but I would love to have some shorter scenarios available on NA routes. Right now I've been playing the Clinchfield Sub because their roster best fits a fallen flag I love, but sometimes just don't have the 2 hours to dedicate to it. It is fair to call out the bell on the GP38 though.
Turn off the blower when a stream train is powering; otherwise you’ll just waste steam. Set and forget the loco settings because constant tinkering will be your undoing.
Notice how a couple of the routes in the list of worse route are countries that only get 1 route at the moment and it’s horrible (and goes without saying a lot of them are outside of the list if there are any). Linear route and only 1 train. I agree with those options I honestly dislike these routes because I don’t get any traction variety at all.
tbh i do agree with you on the lacklustre quality of west cornwall local, and believe they had so much potential, however i do find myself coming back to it a few times. the 150, although it sounds absolutely horrendous, is modelled quite nicely and is quite detailed, and it’s also kinda fun to drive. coupled with the fact that you can layer in things such as the 142 pacer, 101 and several locomotives with mk2 coaching stock i do sorta kinda tolerate the route a little. but yeah, they really should’ve extended the route further than st austell, and added the falmouth branch. maybe room for a future remaster/extention?
I.... own all 6 😣 Probably a contributing factor why I advocate for people to shun DTG until they can make a better game or another dev comes along to build a proper train simulator.
My advice if I may, with the Jubilee and 8F use manual firing and open the firebox doors and the dampeners and leave open (don't touch the blower it slows pressure production) and you should be ok once you reach 15mph bring the revereser down to 35
I agree with your assessment. Munich - should not terminate at Augsburg, it feels like the middle of nowhere. Also really wish S bahn went further than Hackenbruchen. WCL... Hated it Oakville... Being from Canada... Noone wants to go to Oakville or Hamilton. The potential lies from Oakville to Toronto Union or further to Oshawa. But, has to have the GO Train. I still want the TTC Subway so badly. Luzern had some good elements but it felt incomplete, short, and ETCS was poorly done. Not interested in Steam... I hated Horseshoe Curve but I generally dislike NA freight. Others I dislike: Maintalbahn, Sherman Hill, MML,
About your issue with steaming, I generally find that the locomotive usually builds steam pressure fast enough if you close the cylinder cocks. (Don't know if you've tried that), though painfully slow, I can get a 10 car train up from Liverpool Lime Street to Edge Hill.
8:19 The Trainz West Cornwall Local route is honestly much better. Plus, it's set in the 1930s. 10:36 I do have the Class 385 sound mod for TSW4 and weathering enhancement pack which kinda boosts the quality of this EMU. Not to mention a route enhancement mod in general. 10:53 Oh god! That's bs! 11:07 Overused Nathan K3L horn from CN FP9 6520 used in Trainz. What's next? Those overused BC Rail K5L horns? Ngl, they do have nice sounding horns, but it's highly unlikely for them to stop overusing them.
Interesting that for all Rivet’s reputation, one of your favourites (and mine) is a Rivet product - Island Line 2022. Also, Rivet designed teh stations in Cathcart. I was so disappointed with West Cornwall Local, particularly as it is a route I know well.
Great video mate, iv recently learned to buy routes on sale now, Tsw5 is the only one I haven't bought on 1st day (Although I have got the free version) but haven't bought a new route for it yet
My TOP 3 Best: 3: Niddertalbahn 2: Ruhr-Sieg Nord (I don't know why, but I really like it, even if the scenery isn't the best in some places) 1: Salzburg - Rosenheim My TOP 3 Worst: 3: Main-Spessart Bahn 2: Hamburg - Lübeck 1: Bremen - Oldenburg As a Czech, I don't fly American and British routes, so I play practically only continental Europe routes, except for the Los Angeles - San Bernardino route, which I enjoy very much. Personally, I would like them to add the Italian line Porto Torres - Golfo Aranci with the old ALn 668 and ALn663 trains, the line in Albania Durrës - Vlorë with passenger transport (before 2014) and the line in Poland Ełk - Korsze before electrification of the line in 2023.
It's a shame the only Canadian content we got in TSW was so underwhelming. I work for CN and run to the Toronto area regularly, and there are much better areas to explore than Oakville and Hamilton. It would be much better to get MacMillan yard and its surroundings, taking the York sub east to Oshawa, and the Halton west towards Sarnia (also heading towards the existing route). Plus you could have the Newmarket and Bala subs heading south from the York to Union station. There would be GO Transit and CN locals available with plenty of work between Mac Yard and BIT (Brampton Intermodal Terminal). The GP38-2 and the GP9RM are pretty decent models, although it would have been nice to get a unique Canadian geep like a GP38-2W, or a GP40-2LW. The GP9RM would have been nice to get another variant of too, with the 7000 and 7200 series set up for beltpack and having the control stand unmodified and set up for long hood forward, unlike the 4000 and 4100 series which were converted to short hood forward.
Cathcart Circle Remastered is an absolutely brilliant route, if you also have the 380 that is. I also love the GWE ans cant wait for the remaster. I was almost about to purchase WCL but thankfully i did some research and got the GWE instead.
Cajon Pass and Antelope are horrible for me. The F125 and rolling stock is fine I guess. But the scenery is horrendous. The route doesn’t even have an accurate representation of Union station. Both routes have mashed potato mountains. IRL the mountains are covered in green and pine trees even in a drought.
It's better than arosalinie, looks better etc but it's slow paced, long (almost 2 hours) journey with cruise control so except safety systems there's barely anything to do. This is one of these routes where first few runs are exciting and great but after some time when you see another 2 hours timetable you couldn't find good reason to start new one. That's how it looks from my point of view but if you are a fan of that go for it. Aw announcements in 3 languages are nice touch but they're eventually starts boring after few runs.
Train Sim World® 2: Arosalinie: Chur - Arosa Route Add-On had absolutely awful physics when I first got it. I haven't gone back, but I doubt it's been fixed. Train Sim World® 4 Compatible: Cajon Pass: Barstow - San Bernardino Route Add-On is awful, the train running out of control on the steep gradient to San Bernadino. There was a horrendous double accident there - I'm not surprised.
great vid as always here is my take followed by my fav and least fav routes personally i love the German ICE Routes and agree they should have made the route longer strangley i don't have missing OHLE i like the cornawall route, but like you i just wish they made it longer and i wish they added the HST'S, i really hope they do an extension to this route. not played that other revit game never had any intrest in it. never played the canidain route either as no intrest in it. spirt of steam, don't have this but want it, just so i can drive Desial stock on it, would like it better if they did the morden version of this route. maybe this why they gave up on steam trains in tsw i like both versions of the I.O.W lgv, i got it for free too when they gave it away, but not really played it, the shouting of "garbage" really hurt my ears my favs are: (in no order) brighton mainline (apart from fing up clapham junction and norbury trains staions and not adding norword junction and west croydon) east coastway (they need to extended this to ashford) just trains blackpool route southeastern high speed (need to extened to dover and margate via ramsgate) GWR (altho also needs extnedeing and let us play the short underground sections) cathcart circle line (again needs to be extnded) birmingham cross city line (needs more a.i traffic) and midland mainline (after it add the improvments and also needs extnededing either up to Sheffield or down to bedford, would like it all the way to london but we know that will not happen) gobline route the ons i dislike atm are: ecml wcml (might change after they improve it with major updates) glasgow express that american route that came with tsw4 hight expetaions for new just trains route and Cardiff City Lines Route (altho dissipointed in no brunch line to barry island)
I refuse to buy most of these routes simply because of how bad they are. I do however own LGV Méditerrainée and Spirit of Steam and they are not very good routes in my opinion. They're not the worst, as Spirit of Steam is at least saved by its interesting time period, and although the scenery is awful on LGV Méditerrainée, the TGV Duplex is actually very well-modelled and fun to drive. My least favourite routes I own are probably S-Bahn Voralberg and the Semmeringbahn as for their disappointing scenery and poor rolling stock.
I personally loathe the West Cornwall route by Rivet Games. The route is enjoyable in Classic Train Simulator but a borefest in TSW. Can they not fix those countless depictions of tree stumps trackside every few hundred yards. The trackside detail from St Erth to St Ives is particularly awful.
For Bad Routes In TSW I’d Say ECML,Barely Captures Spirit Of Steam,LGV Mediterranee And New York To Trenton And For Good Routes I’d Say Blackpool Branches,Cathcart Circle,Brighton Mainline And Peninsula Corridor
Don't we think that the Games needs more variety of rolling stocks to make it more alive too, but not necessarily have to make the driveable for the least, in my opinion? As I personally favour the classic due to the variety of them for the current time being
Updating timetables to use all the latest stock would be a massive amount of work. Lots of them were not built with layers in mind so to add more services requires a rebuild. Also dtg aren't going to model entire trainsets just to function as ai. Trains have to be a certain level and anything below it will be met with lots of resistance
The West somerset railway add on is also a pretty shit route in my opinion just because of the lack of rolling stock and the boringness of just being able to drive 25 mph at maximum.
Sadly, 25mph is a legal maximum speed on heritage routes in the UK so, if we are to have these routes, we are stuck with it. The revamped version is great though. The choice then is drive at 25mph and enjoy the view or go into free mode and run any non electric loco as fast as you want.
Clearly for me the worst all-time route in TSW is Kassel - Würzburg! 3 stations on the entire route and almost half of the route is inside tunnels. A passenger line with 1 stop? Talk about mailing it in! Hardly any development time on that one for DTG. The other routes you mention have problems but at least an effort (all be it sub-par) was put forth. Can't say the same for Kassel - Würzburg.
I actually really enjoy Kassel - Würzburg, but I’m a bit biased towards the German routes. I think it’s cool to be able to absolutely thrash the ICEs and the 101. I think what would’ve realistically made the route better would’ve been to add the old main line alongside it, that way you’d get way more variety in available services, and you could have scenarios where an ICE or something gets forced up the old line due to track closures. Would be especially cool now given part of it is modeled anyway in Frankfurt - Fulda (and Gemünden has existed for ages) so maybe it’s an opportunity for a route extension in the future…. Either way, I’d argue this is a way better high speed route than the sole LGV route we’ve got, since this at least offers the opportunity for other services/locos. The other thing that really annoys me about LGV is that the TGV unit they chose (whether realistic or not for the route) isn’t usable in timetable mode on any of the German routes that feature the TGV in real life. Would’ve been nice if they’d have made it the multi-system unit to at least add the value of using the TGV in some other content (no, I’m not counting the two services for HS1).
The route improves a lot once you get the Frankfurt-Fulda route, you can get great lzb/pzb usage by combining some shared ICE services, if the service is not shared you just spawn a new train but I just hate the fact that the same services are not stopped on the same platform for some stupid reason.
Say it as it is. Since they introduced tsw5 they will forget about the routes they said they would fix. Even in the new game its buggy as hell. Plus routes i previously owned are now saying i need to buy again
Yearly releases doesn't = better. Vote with your wallets people after all Dovetail have always been quite a greedy game dev company. For real this cult to their games needs to stop, just picture how good the games and DLC content would be if they didn't rush it all.
@@jamesnichols5163even better, wait for the humble bundles they do every year around april. You get the game itself for ~5USD and a bunch of random routes for ~15USD. And best of all you can select 0% of it to go to DTG.
Yeah...I don't know about this list. I personally own only EU content, but the only thing Dresden has going for it is the good bunch of traffic, otherwise the route is boring itself. Not to mention Bremen to Oldenburg... Luzern-Sursee is indeed short but def worth the (lower, btw!) price if even only to get a FLIRT in your game. The only things I agree with are the indeed major flaws you point out, no München Hbf tief, horrible ETCS, sadly it wouldn't be DTG if everything was perfect lol
I don't own any of these routes mentioned but even in your more in depth reviews, is enough for me to not pay for any of these routes. Which also has me extremely worried for the Tadami line set in Japan. Who is developing that route again? It seems the introduction of a new country has this curse of having an abysmal route as proven by the Swiss, French and Canadian routes respectively which seems to be a running trend. Wales is supposed to be a new route to TSW5 again, new country (albeit set in the UK...sorta), here's hoping this trend doesn't continue. Fab content as always though mate, high five from the UK 😊
Union Workshop are the devs behind the Tadami Line. Incidentally, I didn't realise that trend of the first route in a new country turning out to be abysmal. I hope that's broken with the upcoming Welsh and Dutch routes, although I don't really care for the latter.
@@DC4260Productions aye. Go over french, Canadian and Swiss, notice how they all are involved on your top 6 worst routes? But I do hope Tadami doesn't fall under this curse. American routes seem to have the dislike label from me especially Cajon pass or TSW 4 and 5 iterations of the San Bernardino lines. Probably their location... In the middle of no where with no scenery or life for that matter to speak of.
Well the number 1 spot did indeed surprise me. Although it is easy to see why it's at the bottom. It's such a nothing burger that sometimes I forget it even exists. Btw when can we expect reviews on the Kinzigtalbahn and San Bernardino routes? I'm kind of surprised you haven't covered those by now.
The latest version that’s been added to Xbox game pass, the ICE German route is the same route. (To and from Frankfurt Hbf) Kinda disappointing and boring at some point.
You do know that for WCL you also get steam trains, and Blackpool Branches layers too right?. It's not just the freight train you've mentioned or the Class 150.
there's just a general issue with german routes. the platforms are always super lifeless its ridiculous. i don't play hauptstrecke rhein rhur anymore because there's nobody to pick up!
And when Playststion Store won't accept returns I don't buy basicly anything that I'm unsure it's good. On PC and Steam I can buy for test and if it's not good I can have money back if it's played quite short time. On Playstation Store you can buy and get refund but only when it's not downloaded.
Nothing is wrong with the location of old England Crewe to Liverpool in the 1950s. What made you say such a dumb thing? The region was a hotbed of industrial might serving the North-West post WW2 and anyone that grew up around there can testify to it's humble life, hard working life and a vintage taste of old England now disappeared for good.
I was going to get west cornwall line. But looking at reviews on UA-cam, i was very disappointed with the very false scenery. Especially leaving penzance, the mount looks very poor...then seeing the st erth to st ives line, you featured. Very poor indeed. Will you be doing a best add on's?
@@TrainspotterNrwMaxi_202about 65 of which are in tunnels and most of the trip is lzb guided so theres nothing to do for upwards of 30-40 mins!.. 🥱 The most interesting thing you can do on Kassel Würzburg is extend your frankfurt fulda trips to kassel, but even there you have like 80km of tunnels..
I am surprised that NEC: New York - Trenton (which I am still not touching with a barge pole, nor S-Bahn Zentralschweiz) was not on the Bottom 6. I have to agree, Steam on TSW was a letdown. München-Augsburg I have uninstalled, but the 423 has the wrong traction inverter sounds on the Kinzigtalbahn, which are meant to be the IGBT ones, rather than the GTO audio we hear. The Maintalbahn for me is just okay, but that is your opinion. As for more French routes, sadly SNCF withdrew the licensing....probably as a result of how bad LGV is....CN Oakville, the Trainz Horn sounds really do put me off, such a shame for Canada, also being in the same situation as France. I also won't touch Rhein-Ruhr Osten, that being the only German Route, I don't and won't have, even though I eventually picked up Bremen-Oldenburg and Salzburg-Rosenheim, even with my aforementioned uninstallment.
@@tswcbv2009 mate. It's his opinion. Just because he says its not that great doesn't mean you have to take it personally. We all have our opinions and we should we respect each other's opinions.
@@DC4260Productions Indeed. Honestly, the route choice was bad, because high speed running isn't what's very interesting, even though it's a thing we mastered in France. If only a talented French 3rd party developer came on with a nice heritage railway line with actually good scenery and good traction (for a decent price of course), that would definitely sell more than this 94 kilometres of... This slight boredom.
I agree with most of them, maybe not the classic Island line as the modern one is the basic joint control and the doors do tend to take forever to shut. so I do prefer the classic to the new one.
By Munich - Augsburg i really love the S Bahn. Yeah its not super interesting but its only good longer s Bahn line in the game. But im with you. That they didnt use the tunnel is a shame
im surprised that you said the sounds of the br423 are decent. i grew up with those and i can say its the biggest thing bugging me in tsw, to the point i seriously thought of making a sound mod myself with zero knowledge, because no one has ever thought of making a sound mod to make the br423 playable
There are several 423 sound mods. It's whatever source material tsg had at the time. It is good enough considering he's working under time constraints and budget
But I mean...they are? I literally turned my head last time I was in the Hbf Tief station because I was like, damn, it's just like in the game! Not sure how you can say the opposite...
@@potatoman451 I didn't say that it shouldn't have been made at all, it just ads insult to injury that it is exactly the same, that they didn't even make it any longer and I'm quite sure that it is not the only high speed route in France. Finally tsw does have routes that aren't in tsc.
I'm with you, but if it was a modern day version of the route I wouldn't drive it at all. Its redeeming quality is the period it's set in, something which we were starved of at the time. Since then Just Trains have come in and shown everyone how to properly do 80s/90s period routes
Line A is fully operated by the Paris transport operator RATP. Line B is operated in pool with both RATP and SNCF being involved. And there's line E now on the RER, albeit not fully finished yet, as further extensions are planned.
WCL is my most hated route next to spirit of steam. i bought it day one like an idiot thinking they would fix the physics and the smoke bug and this route never had anything fixed. Only time i ever play it is with the pacer. They put more work into the 37 than the 150. Sbahn i wanted but my experience was so bad with wcl i never bought it even on sale. Then i made the mistake of buying Glasgow express on sale and that was bad too. Didnt give into fife even though i really wanted the 170.
Fife circle is ok and with the 158 and the new timetable that will come when they add the new branch line for free thats just opended in real life its not a bad route (not great but not bad)
I am glad they are making a second east coast that is longer than the current but I wish it was a modern route so we have a decent length to run the 390's on
Fife Circle my least favourite. As a local it pains me to see how much of an absolute arse Rivet made out of it. The scenery is, at best, embarrassing and sucks all the realism and fun out of it.
I like it and don't think the scenery, aside from the rogue tree at Burntisland, is too bad. It would be nice if the timetable was fixed as I'm pretty sure the Perth and Dundee services don't stop at any stations between Inverkeithing and Kirkcaldy in real life.
Personally i dont *hate* New york - Trenton. But its still bad. I regret buying it. I think the worst route in TSW is Kassel - würzburg. Also i think San Francisco to San jose is like second place for american routes. The scenery is not the best but either way its actually pretty good. But the new Metrolink route is the *BEST* American route in TSW5. But my fav route in TSW5 is probably the Kinzigtalhlban.
Got my snack and drink for this one
Hell yeah the exact same here
We surely needed to know that.
West Cornwall local definitely needs a remaster including an extension to Plymouth and including the Falmouth branch line
I need to say that i really appreciate the amount of effort you put into the pronunciation of german words!
@@cyborgsheep6077 there is a timetable mod on train sim community that largely fixed problems with the original Oakville sub route
5 is currently free, if you care, and DLC ports over
As an american that lives by the NEC, I honestly enjoy NEC: NY - Trenton.
Dlc would never happen because of memory issues. The route is extremely unstable and adding more trains would cause a bunch of crashing on consoles
One thing i really wish train sim world would fix is the passengers. I'd be at a starting terminus and my train would be choked with passengers, but once i open the doors they scatter out, (like they've held hostage) and im left to depart with a near empty train the rest of the ride!
i’m new to the game so this is definitely a video i needed to see, those dlcs are expensive as hell
if money isnt a major issue, wcml, ecml, goblin lone (suffragette line), brighton main line and bakerloo line are fun ones. ignore the fact that they are all london
Cane Creek is the worst route in the game.
I wish DTG would sort out NTP I am from Huddersfield and all the passengers get out at Either Manchester or Leeds. So by the time you get to Huddersfield you have no passengers on your train or getting on at all
Passenger issues affect all dlc, not just ntp
DTG is one of the worst publisher, the games are totally bugged and never get fixed.
We need train sim classic on console
@@heatherjenkins1009 it can never happen unfortunately
I'm surprised the LGV route made it to 1. i thoroughly enjoyed this route despite it's lack of potential
Just because it has low services doesn't mean it's terrible. That would also make routes like isle of wight terrible too then using your argument
I think that's the point. Going all the way back to railworks updates have broken dlc's and they have been left to languish.
Surprised to not see NEC on this list
I wanted to love spirit of steam I thought that steam engines just built pressure slowly but when I got pft and drove the 4f I was happy finally one good steam loco. its annoying to me that out of all the stuff they could have included at the £30 price they gave two mediocre similar looking engines personally I would have put the princess royal instead of the jubilee and left the 8f and also put in a jinty and made it grouping era with everything in lms livery instead of br at least we still have train sim classic
Can you rank every single route from worst to best?
I wish you added East Coastway to this. The entire route feels empty with only the 313, 377 and 66. Why couldn't have they extended it to Ashford or Hastings?
To be honest, I like East Coastway.
as for Munchen Augsburg, one of first addons I had bought back in... when it got released :D ... and now, when DTG finally made a pretty functioning 146.2 (Kinzingtalbahn) that actually releases properly from LZB and such, you can also run REX services, which are quite fun and engaging... shame tho that 112 got broken again and 114 isnt fixed yet (dont bother running 218 here cos it cannot meet the required times, as it is too slow to accelerate and can only hit 140 kph)
but I agree with Luzern Sursee... I can digest the scenery as I mainly focus on driving and indicators and such shenanigans... I can digest the short coverage, cos sometimes you want shorter timetable experience when you only have like 30mins to play :) ... but for me the dealbreaker is the broken ETCS - I can live with justified PZB and other penalty brake things... and ETCS is supposed to be kinda like LZB or ACSES where it beeps to let you know you have to slow down and then you just follow its brake curve... but what it often does here is it often doesnt give you warning in enough time for you to start braking and you almost immediately get a penalty brake... which isnt realistic, cos those systems are supposed to let you know in advance, enough of an advance, and it is also not cool... this is literally the only DLC I dont play (I even played a bit of Sand Patch Grade... and I dont play Cajon Pass cos I dont know how to set up those humongous US freight trains properly :D )
as for steam, since I dont hold the usual railfans' "fetish" for steam locos and such, it doesnt really bother me (I am more fan of newer and modern electric locos and EMUs, and at least to some extent also modern diesels like F125, HSP46 will be nice in the new addon, or BR 218... and if they did Siemens Chargers, maaan :D )
ow maaan, not LGV... the train itself is AWESOME, even has a bit of layer on HS1 (SEHS)... the route itself could have had more stations, and more rolling stock, and still bothers me that while KVB is covered nicely in the manual, the actual route doesnt really utilize it... but I like to drive it occasionally, and I LOVE the power changeover challenge :)
fav routes? hmm - Nahverkehr Dresden, Kinzingtalbahn will be there once they fix some issues with ICE-T, Tharander Rampe (and 612 as well), Koln Aachen (especially since they fixed the unplayable Siegen services for 442 and since now you can use the new version of 146.2 here as well)... I dont know, I like most German routes I got... from the UK, London Commuter and SEHS cos I love their service variety, of pathings, different routes within routes, also the WCML is rather nice... and I also enjoy Fife :) ... as for US passenger content, I enjoy all the Amtrak ones, and as for newer Metrolink routes, I love them, except that the rolling stock doesnt really have any safety systems that would punish you for anything :)
from recent favs I would also add Midland Mainline, mainly cos of nice, tho rather short but satisfying HST runs :)
I usually tend not to nitpick on the scenery, but what can "derail" me quite easily are functional issues, like errors in braking performance, AFB issues etc :) oh, and I LOVE the Austrian content, despite its flaws - like 1116 not having proper LZB/AFB procedure (while BR 182 does, why? :D ), no 1116 passenger services on Vorarlberg (1116 literally does most of passenger work there, either as part of RailJets or as part of IC consists etc, with dostos...) aaand... the sounds on 4024 dont annoy me THAT MUCH, BUT!... the fact they put 4024 as CJX9 on Semmeringbahn almost blew my circuit breakers :D like, 4744/4746 is THE CJX, the whole point of CJX is CityJet Desiro ML unleashed to its full potential, which in case of CJX9 means 140-150 to Wiener Neustadt and 160 kph to Payerbach-Reichenau... not freakin 140 kph capable 4024 lol... but, thats temporarily forgiven, since I am hoping for CityJet Desiro ML and RailJets to get into the game... eventually, as they are the backbones of regional/commuter traffic and longdistance/highspeed traffic
rant over :)
12:50 you forgot that go transit used the f59ph
I.... own all 6 😣 Probably a contributing factor why I advocate for people to shun DTG until they can make a better game or another dev comes along to build a proper train simulator.
WCL... Hated it
Oakville...
Only reason why I still play west cornwell is so I can have a pacer between st Ives and st erth
My TOP 3 Best:
3: Niddertalbahn
2: Ruhr-Sieg Nord (I don't know why, but I really like it, even if the scenery isn't the best in some places)
1: Salzburg - Rosenheim
My TOP 3 Worst:
3: Main-Spessart Bahn
2: Hamburg - Lübeck
1: Bremen - Oldenburg
As a Czech, I don't fly American and British routes, so I play practically only continental Europe routes, except for the Los Angeles - San Bernardino route, which I enjoy very much.
My personal least favorite route is peninsula corridor for the scenery
Right, I hate that route as well; yet it still seems to get praise simply for its timetable!
Mine is Cane Creek Subdivision for how sluggish and boring the missions are. It also one of few routes I fall asleep while driving trains.
Would it be possible to get a review of the berninalinie, I am interested in it but am cautious about another swiss route
Not from me, I'm afraid.
You have to learn to drive the freight trains properly. You don't just simply brake and go
great vid as always here is my take followed by my fav and least fav routes
personally i love the German ICE Routes and agree they should have made the route longer strangley i don't have missing OHLE
i like the cornawall route, but like you i just wish they made it longer and i wish they added the HST'S, i really hope they do an extension to this route.
not played that other revit game never had any intrest in it.
never played the canidain route either as no intrest in it.
spirt of steam, don't have this but want it, just so i can drive Desial stock on it, would like it better if they did the morden version of this route.
maybe this why they gave up on steam trains in tsw
i like both versions of the I.O.W
lgv, i got it for free too when they gave it away, but not really played it, the shouting of "garbage" really hurt my ears
my favs are: (in no order)
brighton mainline (apart from fing up clapham junction and norbury trains staions and not adding norword junction and west croydon)
east coastway (they need to extended this to ashford)
just trains blackpool route
southeastern high speed (need to extened to dover and margate via ramsgate)
GWR (altho also needs extnedeing and let us play the short underground sections)
cathcart circle line (again needs to be extnded)
birmingham cross city line (needs more a.i traffic)
and midland mainline (after it add the improvments and also needs extnededing either up to Sheffield or down to bedford, would like it all the way to london but we know that will not happen)
gobline route
the ons i dislike atm are:
ecml
wcml (might change after they improve it with major updates)
glasgow express
that american route that came with tsw4
hight expetaions for new just trains route and Cardiff City Lines Route (altho dissipointed in no brunch line to barry island)
I would have bought Bernina line if they would have completed the entire route to St. Moritz. Now i think that is a bad route.
TBF most of CN's older Diesels were Equipped with a K3L horn
Kassel wurzburg also had its challenges. Just because it's mostly tunnels and 1 stop doesn't mean it takes 5 minutes to make
I actually really enjoy Kassel - Würzburg, but I’m a bit biased towards the German routes.
Plus routes i previously owned are now saying i need to buy again
you should not have to re buy routes you already own they should transfer over stright away
Yearly releases doesn't = better. Vote with your wallets people after all Dovetail have always been quite a greedy game dev company. For real this cult to their games needs to stop, just picture how good the games and DLC content would be if they didn't rush it all.
Everyone should just wait until its 50+% off, otherwise you’ll regret it anyway
Also the Bell on the GP38 is actually Acuate to the Real 4710
Had a feeling that (Barely Captures the) Spirit of Steam: Liverpool Lime Street - Crewe would be included in this list.
I'm not sure when those reviews will be done, but they're not far down the video queue.
The latest version that’s been added to Xbox game pass, the ICE German route is the same route. (To and from Frankfurt Hbf) Kinda disappointing and boring at some point.
Is the Class 380 and Class 390 worth it for DLC? They're around 25-45 dollars.
380
-do you want a busier timetable
-have you got other scottish dlc? They all layer
390
-do you want to play those services?
Its pronounced I-C-E, not ice.
I wish the TGV layered on to more routes. E.g Munich Augsburg, Frankfurt Fulda
Well I now know that TSW abandoned Steam Content because on Twitter I did ask if they could add the 3F Fowler and the A1 Class Tank Engines.
You do know that for WCL you also get steam trains, and Blackpool Branches layers too right?. It's not just the freight train you've mentioned or the Class 150.
I forgot about the Steam Railtour pack, but I won't be buying it because it's not worth my time.
there's just a general issue with german routes. the platforms are always super lifeless its ridiculous. i don't play hauptstrecke rhein rhur anymore because there's nobody to pick up!
Passenger issues affect all dlc
Plus some of those routes have terrible lighting
I actually agree with absolutely everything!
Can you also do a list of your favorite Routes currently?
The ones I listed off in the introduction are still my favourites.
As the person who lives in Liverpool, I can definitely say it’s not that interesting
I've already done a video on my favourite routes, as stated in the introduction.
Train simulator classic is still the best. At least you can do 90 mile routes
In Tsw5 on Kassel-Würzburg you can drive a route that is Almost 125 miles long.
@@TrainspotterNrwMaxi_202about 65 of which are in tunnels and most of the trip is lzb guided so theres nothing to do for upwards of 30-40 mins!.. 🥱
The most interesting thing you can do on Kassel Würzburg is extend your frankfurt fulda trips to kassel, but even there you have like 80km of tunnels..
Graphics are bad and performance worst in TSC. TSW5 is the future
@@flox1514TSW 5 is trash.
As much as I want to see more French routes in the game, I don't blame SNCF for scrapping the licensing deal.
@@DC4260Productionshow dare you roast my favourite Spirit of Steam. That's in Liverpool. Home to my favourite stadium
I can tell NYC New York - Trenton is here
41:42 that GARBAGE was personal 🤣
Where did you get that timecode from? The video is only 23 mins long.
West Cornwall Line Is Set In 1991.
the tube is complete shite who can agree with me?
We need northern or jubilee something more fresh
Bakerloo line is quite good for the timetable and frequent stops while being a subway route.
Let's not talk about the fact that the tgv line is recycled from ts2017
And therefore it shouldn't have been made at all? None of the routes in tsw should exist then
@@potatoman451 I didn't say that it shouldn't have been made at all, it just ads insult to injury that it is exactly the same, that they didn't even make it any longer and I'm quite sure that it is not the only high speed route in France. Finally tsw does have routes that aren't in tsc.
Oakville is better with the timetable mod!
There is literally nothing wrong with the Oakville sub
i like west cornwall local tbh
I'm with you, but if it was a modern day version of the route I wouldn't drive it at all. Its redeeming quality is the period it's set in, something which we were starved of at the time. Since then Just Trains have come in and shown everyone how to properly do 80s/90s period routes
Or all of The SNCF RER lines A to D for that matter.
DC's Pronunciations sound great
I am glad they are making a second east coast that is longer than the current but I wish it was a modern route so we have a decent length to run the 390's on
I've been playing around with the wcml and i realized that on the class 66 it still has the ews in the cab how lazy !❤
West cornwall local is by far the worst for me, the route is vile , disgusting and an insult to cornwall
you pronounce "hauptbahnhof" like the DB train anouncment
Class video
Personally i dont *hate* New york - Trenton. But its still bad. I regret buying it. I think the worst route in TSW is Kassel - würzburg. Also i think San Francisco to San jose is like second place for american routes. The scenery is not the best but either way its actually pretty good. But the new Metrolink route is the *BEST* American route in TSW5. But my fav route in TSW5 is probably the Kinzigtalhlban.
I’d love to see the woodhead route on tsw 5
London commuter is good but no freight, lots services.
It has freight in next gen only
