Hi Cash, I’m delighted you stumbled upon one of Central Park’s famous “gates”! There are a total of 18 “Gates”! Located either inside the park or built into the Park’s surrounding Stone Fence. They were basically NAMED after the TYPE of PEOPLE who used that particular entrance to enter the park. The ones I can remember offhand are: Merchants Gate - Hunters Gate - Strangers Gate - Artisans Gate - Children’s Gate - Women’s Gate - Scholars Gate - Miners Gate and *Gate Of All Saints *The only “Gate” to be named in this manner with the word, “Gate” coming first. I’m so impressed with myself right now, I can’t believe I was able to recalled 9 of them! (I’m old and my TNBC Metastasized into my brain last year!) The names of the “Gates” weren’t engraved until the mid-1950s. Some of the Stonemason who did the engraving used “Apostrophes” i.e. Children’s Gate and Women’s Gate... Most didn’t. I don’t know, if it was left up to the individual stonemasons or if they were given they explicit instructions. Sorry but I haven’t the foggiest notion.
@@mariewiseman2962 Hi Marie, That sounds interesting, l was unaware that any “Gates” were named after 1862. It must be extremely important subject to receive such an honor after 160 years. Thank you, for the information. Have a wonderful day. 😊
One of the finest apartment buildings in Harlem. This Robert AM Stern building checks all the boxes. And the north end of the park is the nicest and is so well maintained. Transportation is great also!! Thanks Cash for showcasing a great apartment in a fine building.
I guess, according to the city developers, this is considered East Harlem or Spanish Harlem. I've been to NY but never got to visit that area. I guess there are a lot of noteworthy museums nearby.
Cash- Best interior shots I have seen - they compliment every single word you spoke today. Excellent job. All the audio was very well done- always enhanced by your editing skills. What a great pad. John was a fun guy. Keep going. ☮️👍👍👍
Watching these videos make me so thankful I live in my Florida pool home that is on the intracoastal waterway. It cracks me up how excited they are to see trees, water, birds, flowers, etc.
I get the feeling John could sell anything to anybody. Perfect easy going persona. I did face palm myself when he said he had spent many a 'marathon viewing' in the building's dining room because I thought he meant a busy day with numerous apartment viewings, not actually watching people running a marathon past the building 🤦♂
Hi Cash. I have taken my class to The Central Park Meer. The park provides primitive fishing poles. Every year we would book time at the pond with our own worms. The kids loved it. Your kids would love it too. There are turtles, swans, frogs and cranes too. Wish I could afford that apartment.
What an awesome condo. Great location. If I had that kind of dinero I would scoop this place up. And it’s a lot nicer than some of the other uber fancy condos that Jamin has shown you. This place has a really good feel to it. Home run.
Considering the address and the amenities, this is actually a good value for the money. The west side might be slightly more desirable at 110th St, but everything would still be accessible within a 10-minute walk across the park. Having Central Park at your doorstep is the best amenity of all.

Seneca Village was a 19th-century settlement of mostly African American landowners in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, within what would become present-day Central Park. The settlement was located near the current Upper West Side neighborhood, approximately bounded by Central Park West and the axes of 82nd Street, 89th Street, and Seventh Avenue, had they been constructed through the park.

I suppose if I shared this with 99 of my closest friends I could afford it. But the management might get suspicious when the truckload of bunk beds is delivered, and we'd have to use the stairs when we left for work.
Finally - a wonderful apartment for a decent price and it includes parking? Overlooking Central Park which is right across the street? If i had the money, I would definitely pay 2Mil for this.
You really wouldn't need a car with all that transportation on 5th going downtown and Madison going up town...bonus in all the crosstown bus stop in close walking distance...
Central Park used to be Seneca Village before it was seized through eminent domain from the African American community living there to make the park for the rich folk.
Hmm... $2.2M AND parking included!?! Well, let's just draw up the papers right now! Beautiful area, building, and apartment. I'd say it's priced correctly. That fifth-floor level works simply fine for me. Oddly enough, I'm not a fan of teak wooding even though it is VERY EXPENSIVE and one of the highest quality of woods. Besides, I thought that teak was illegal in the USA... Anyway, I could quickly learn to love it! FYI: "Farmers Gate"-- Name determined in 1862. Back then the idea of people from different walks of life intermingling in a public park wasn’t welcomed. The few parks that already existed in the City, ie Gramercy Park and St. John’s Park, were gated and accessible only to the owners of nearby homes. But the objective of Central Park welcoming everyone in an integrated space won. Therefore, the commemoration of the occupations, pursuits, and attributes of all New Yorkers and visitors to the park--it's not the only gate. It's a way to recognize the contributions of each group to the welfare of the City and society. John did a great job! He was quite entertaining! Have him back!
Per US Customs "teak wood itself is not banned in the US but there are certain countries from which teak imports are heavily regulated. In 2021, the US issued sanctions against Myanmar after the hostile takeover of the democratically-elected civilian government," Myanmar still imported approximately 1600 metric tons of teak wood as late as 1 month after sanctions were imposed.
