This man plays just like China IRL, an early and big civilisation centered around a river with lot of population and infrastructure while still massively being raided by pillagers on horses XD.
Great strat, I'm gonna try this. Just a heads up, they seem to have altered Tomyris so that you can immediately friend her like Gilgabro. Never hurts to ask either
If you haven't already, try using the Mod Better Balance Starts. Usually makes your starts have a couple extra 2:2s and better tied to your civ's Starting Bias to help you find the map you wanted with less re-rolls
You remind me of ursa ryan and civ lifer (my favourite civers) from when they were yet not popular. I think you havr great perspectives ahead. Btw, where are you from?
It should be valid to spend the first 10 turns getting a pantheon to guarantee any of the other contested pantheons, like the river one I think is contested by the AI, IDK haven't played in a while. Still maybe spend 1-2 turns growing food first to work one extra tile then get faith.
I can't remember the exact full details, so if it doesnt work grab the save file I uploaded to my discord if you want to check it out! I also have more Yongle and breathtaking Teddy spawns Pangea, Standard Size, New World Age, Wet map, (idk if I put low sea level on or off). Requires Better Balanced Starts. So I found the beginning a little luck based. I ran 4 games and no point even following your strategy could I get to religious settlements *before* it was gone (Prince difficulty) is there a way to make this more consistent?
I mention in the video its not a sure way to get religious settlements every time, but I argue that getting the pantheon by working Lilja for your first settler isnt worth it anyway since other pantheons like goddess of the hunt can out scale that pantheon with time. But if you want do want to make sure you grab it, make sure you always settle your cities on 2:2 bases with at least 2:2 tiles to work, settle min distance, and try to grab the pantheon before turn 25. If it's gone, other pantheons can be very good backups.
@@whiteandnerdytv_ must have missed that luck comment sorry. But I was able to get it to work. 1 on turn 27 and once on turn 19. Do you think the difference of a turn is worth an extra production output?
I noticed it in the next video! Aqueducts are nice but we have plenty of housing from Audience Chamber so it doesn't slow down our growth too much. Max housing would be nice but prioritizing Diplo Quarter and +9 theater square works out too
Exactly why I didn't like seeing people work faith from turn 1! Felt like a waste of a pantheon. Fertility Rights and River Goddess are sooo good as Yongle
There's no need. You gain faith, food, or gold per turn just by working it. Unlock great person projects, there is no benefit to finishing the project. The game has it set to some high 1000 production because of this, but if you finish it, you can just queue it up again.
I tried so much time to pull out the 3 city in turn 25, but with diety difficulty i could never get religious settlements. Always finishing my pantheon turn 21-23 ~ but it was never an option
It's definitely not a sure way to get religious settlements every time, we are gambling just a little in this setup. But I argue that religious settlements isn't always the best pantheon if you use it for your 1st settler, but way more valuable for your second. Other pantheon choices just might scale better with time. In this game, Goddess of the Hunt was a strong backup.
With this strategy, you saved 30 production on the 1st settler built, but you got the settler out 7 or 8 turns later than someone going for faith from the beginning. How much production and food are you missing from settling the first city 7 or 8 turns later? Well, ignoring the 2 food the first citizen eats per turn, your second city was getting +2.5 food (after amenities penalty), 2.7 production, 0.9 gold, 0.4 science, and 0.2 per turn. It actually gained one population after 6 turns but even if it didn't, and even if it took 8 turns longer (it probably would have been 7; I'm just giving you the benefit of the doubt)....worst case you would have lost 20 food (in profit), 21.6 production, 7.2 gold, 3.2 science, and 1.6 culture. Is that worth 30 production? By turn 26, the turn your 2nd city was built, the other strategy would have had a population 2 city already, accumulated at least an extra 7.2 gold, more than 3.2 science extra, and 1.6 culture extra, and 21.6 production in the 2nd city where you just gain 30 production in the capital. Doesn't seem worth.
Fantastically well put. Love that you did all the math here. Unfortunately you you stopped your calculations on turn 26. We have 3 cities on turn 25 while the normal strategy of rushing lija faith cannot do that, and you probably wont have 3 cities until turn 29 or 30. If you continue the calculations you'll see we outscale the original strategy with time, and also have more flexibility in the pantheon choice, given religious settlements really isn't that strong of a pantheon if you have to invest 10 turns of production to get it, meanwhile something like goddess of the hunt can outscale it over the course of the game.
@@whiteandnerdytv_ lol you can easily get 3 cities by turn 26, what are you smoking? Who said you can't do the same thing you did and immediately start with the settler for the 3rd city after you get the faith for the first one? I know you think you are always right, but you're not. And you took religious settlements anyway, so I don't see what your point is saying you'd pick goddess of the hunt. And you gave up 10 turns of production to get it too. I'm doing the same thing you did, but just building the 2nd city sooner. I still get the 3rd city at the same time, if not sooner. You need to rewatch your own video dude.
Fantastically well put, great video! XD

Complete news to me, I'll have to try!
I have been hearing this a ton! So i tested it. Doesn't work for me. Might be a mod someone is running that causes that.
Nice start
Very informative video even for a veteran player myself! Hopping on Civ to play a game as Yongle.
This kind of start is what I could only dream having as a player. I keep rolling god awful starts 😅
A lot of times, I'd reroll for hours until game finally decides to give me something good lol

The real best pantheon, Goddess of Algorithms good choice!

I'm about half way through. I hope you put an Industrial Zone next to the 3 quarries north of your cap.
Nearby! On part 2
Did you turn off all the A.Is in your game because 19/20 times you're not getting religious settlements(not even with your optimal land)
Can you post the seed and settings. This start looks great
