She is probably the most complicated and interesting companion in the game, exactly how I would imagine a drow with centuries of experience. Too bad she hasn't got much content and complicated to recruit in the first place...

@@Spazticspaz Well yeah, I just wish there were more options to recruit her beside raiding the grove. At this point it kinda feels like Halsin in ment to be "the good playthrough" optional companion, and Minthara is the "evil playthrough" equivalent. I have played lawful and neutral evil characters before, but being a turncoat and slaughtering refugees is just too much for me. It is a shame because the games gives you so many options on other instances.
@@csabas.6342 I agree, you have to be really damn evil to recruit Minthara. Evil to the point that she's questioning your motives after she's no longer a thrall of The Absolute. I feel like there should be a way to recruit her thats at least more morally gray than supremely evil.
@@csabas.6342 So I am replying to both your posts.
1) She is 100% my favorite, but then again I am also a huge fan of Drows. And the fact that so much of her content was cut bums me out. Honestly the two most fun companions are the two that has lost the most content (Karlach).
2) You can also just skip the fight and go to act 2, then you will meet her in the tower and can recruit her. But on the other side you lose a ton of content that way. There used to be a way to have both her and Halsin but I didn't personally experiment with it. And it should have been patched out with the patch that just dropped.

Interesting how Minthara Thinks that killing the refugees was needless death. She is a product of her Society but she is not as brutal as I would suspect
she said she was under the absolute influence when she did it.
@@ABH565 but you the player were not, so really to unlock her you have to be even worse than her, and then there's a redemption arc after. Taking away the chance to talk her out of the slaughter is just weird.
@@DIEGhostfish I have to agree with u. I recruited her by ignoring the goblin quest. so my introduction to her at moonrise tower is different

If you choose "I did it to impress you," you get a rare Minthara approval bump in Act II.

Had some similar experiences with Halsin being an owlbear in some cutscenes etc. so I only mildly chuckled at that point but I totally lost it when at the end Minthara goes "I'm satisfied" and then just casually breaks her neck while looking away 🤣.
I think the camera wants to tell us it is because the dark urge is inside him.
I'm playing a rogue (assassin) and cleric of Bhaal, and he has a Bhaal specific dialogue option that he can say at about 58 seconds in to which Minthara has a voiced and appropriate dialogue. Basically, he says that when he murders Orin Bhaal will choose him, and Minthara tells him that it seems Bhaal has already chosen her instead (of course he's also... literally Bhaal's chosen, but no one knows that yet).
[BHAAL] When I murder her, Bhaal will choose me in her place.
Minthara: I would prefer to put my faith in your strength than the favour of your god. After all, it is Orin and this grand deception that he chose - not you.
Damn I haven't heard Ibilith in more that 15 years. Old age has hit.
Shame all her content is locked behind massacring an entire tiefiling village.
I am so glad I found this, cause I did not have Minthara in my party and forgot to remove her helmet when I was last in camp, and lemme tell you those helmets really ruin a scene.
I honestly like her more than most of the other companions. She has a nice bit of depth to her despite being evil. Granted my first playthrough has been a mostly evil playthrough, so I probably haven't seen all the sides to the few companions I have left.

Like bonk her in the head after faking the grove assault, take her as prisoner and use the artifact mcguffin to break the Absolute's hold over her.
This aged well hahaha you can knock her out during the grove fight when you betray her and she will show up in moonrise
So she was blinded and controlled by the absolute, forcing her to be a murder hobo. That might have justified what she does gameplay wise if the devs had added another more sneaky (drow like) way to murder the druid leadership. While still having the siege as an option.
As it stands the devs made things too black and white with the siege. "Evil stupid". By mindflayers that are supposed to be smart. Even with this explanation it doesn't really make sense for a single drow with goblins to lay siege in brood daylight. When they're a sneaky race.
There is an alternate route if you instigate the war in the grove.
Her main goal isn't just to slaughter them, it's to find the artifact which she believes to be in the grove, killing them all is just a way of ensuring nobody escapes with it whilst also being a great offering to her god, assassinating the leaders would be detrimental to her plan as it'd cause the group to scatter, potentially causing the artifact to be lost, in addition mounting a siege during the night would also be silly, as it'd potentially allow for some of the tieflings to escape (potentially with the artifact) in the dark.
I just killed the druids and didn't get the dialogue about the tieflings. (Minthara finished the tieflings off on her own)
Is there another scene if Minthara is there when you defeat Orin?
Come to think of it no! That's disappointing I was hoping for something more
@@PerfectParadox Hopefully this can be resolved with future patches - I think that the companions - Halsin, Jaheira, Minsc/Boo, and Minthara could all be expanded on.
@@crazyelf1 I've since realised that my whole minthara character got bugged. Couldn't speak to her or take her out of the party or anything so she might have just not spoken because of that
@@PerfectParadox Yeah I think that Larian is going to have to release a future patch to fix this.
There have been quite a few reports on Reddit of Minthara being bugged.

Despite how charismatic Minthara is, I can't help but feel she's kinda pathetic. She's like Sauron, wanting control and dominion over everything, looking down on anyone who'd value peace and balance, yet never understanding that her lust for power is what makes her weak, since she is a slave to it.
peace is a weakness thought, name one great civilization that remained a strong a capable nation after a few century of peace, they always got soft, start to fuc king thing up, then in inevitably get replaced by another entity that is forged in conflict and made better for it.
