I really hate how every side character suddenly just vanished
Well some of the side characters from the original series did return in Season 10 around 11-13 characters and 2 nods to other classic characters I think unfortunately, those Chester, Aj, Trixie, and Tootie do make appearances in the background didn't have speaking mostly because voice actors moved on to different projects or choices of the writers. They have been some rumors and old archive interview that Francis ,Tootie, and Trixie would be in the latter 2 seasons or if was pick up Season 11. Other characters like Sparky however was unknown to return or not besides from promotional materials.

I think Wishology could’ve been a good series finale, if Jorgen didn’t decide to hit the status-quo reset button at the end (which canonically he shouldn’t have been able to do since it would’ve interfered with Timmy & Trixie’s relationship)
Isn’t Jorgen the main legislative body of Fairy World? If so, it kinda makes sense that he could overturn something without necessarily breaking the rules.
Butch Hartman must really love the whole “let’s reset everything that has just happened so that it may seemed like it never happened in the first place” trope. That was the same BS that happened in the end of season 2 of Danny Phantom and I hated it!

Nah, bro.
I realized it when I first saw the episode xD
even when i was younger, i hated how cosmo and wanda slowly devolved into hating eachother
They really took the cliche sitcom couple and forced Cosmo and Wanda into it.
Me too lol. Kids show isn’t a good idea to excuse for bad writing.
I'm with you. 6 year old me was like I'm trying to watch my fav show. I don't want to see them arguing for the whole episode
honestly, i found it funny. i always referenced the "nag dance."
I haven’t watched the show since shortly after they first introduced Poof, but uh...does anyone else remember that episode where Timmy wishes to see a world where he never existed or something, and then finds out that literally everyone is better off without him, and then chooses to live regardless out of pure spite for everybody in his life? Because that was dark af and kinda confused on what type of message they were trying to show kids. Particularly as a person who has been persistently affected by major depressive disorder since the age of 13.
In Timmy's defense, most of the people in his life are complete bastards to him for no reason. So living out of spite makes sense in a way.
I was diagnosed with depression at 9 years old so watching that episode growing up really made me think “huh, maybe everyone would be better off without me” while i was in elementary school like what were they trying to convey to the kids watching lol
Exactly that episode was so bad cause it basically told children: "Hey, if everyone hates you, just keep living cause you don't have another choice and you just have to deal with it without doing anything to change it!" Like i get it cause that can really happen to someone but Jesus Christ that was real dark
This episode is just plain overly mean towards Timmy for no reason, its horrible how the jokes are about Timmy's efforts to please people being utterly worthless, and then proceeds to tell him how he just makes people miseable, brings the worse out of them, or how he's keeping others from reaching their fullest potential

@@connorbredall3112 I know this episode from Season 8 but thanks for telling me anyways
Rip the old character's, they will be missed
real talk: the show should have ended with channel chasers.
it was like, the best ending the show has. with the epilogue showing an adult timmy happily married to tootie with kids of their own repeating the same mistakes his parents did, thus his kids inherit his old faeries. while he himself doesnt remember having fairies, his old fairies are still around his house and close by. timmy might be a grownup, but hes happy. his arc as a character is over. what more is there to do with him?
....but then the series continued. and basically threw all of that away. they had the best note the show could have gone out on practically giftwrapped to them, and yet.
a similar issue happened with dexters lab, actually. though dexters season 3 was at the very least still watchable. this however...
this episode is the biggest insult to channel chasers ending, as timmy already came to terms with having to grow up and leave his childhood (including cosmo and wanda) behind. why would he then wish everyones ages remain the same if he was ALREADY at peace with the idea of childhoods not lasting forever?!
Business executives : Money
I very much agree with you, though if Channel Chasers was the ending, I hope that Timmy wouldn't have made the same mistakes as his parents. Because it was right in the middle of the show (sort of), it was okay to have the little joke with Cosmo and Wanda still being there. But if it was the conclusion and hence 100% cannon, I think it would be better to just see the two of them sneaking around checking in on Timmy from time to time with no one seeing them, rather than his children having to go through what he did. It makes me so sad to think that Timmy turned into a bad parent, just like his own.
@@randomusername429 maybe cosmo and wanda do secretly check up on him to keep him from being too neglectful. he does seem a little more competent. he just didnt recognise the vicky robot might be similar to vicky. granted, being married to tootie likely also means vicky *IS* his sister-in-law. i'd like to think she mellowed out though.

They could have continued the show with his kids. That would have been an interesting idea lmao
I honestly liked the idea of Chloe but she was executed extremely..terribly.
Plus they got rid of Chester and AJ.
I think she was introduced way too late in the show and in a very unnatural way
But as a character, I think it was a good idea, but again, the exectution was bad and boring
They should have just brought back Tootie. At least it makes sense given that Vicky doesn't treat her any better than Timmy.

Then you may as well blame the Unwish Island episode as well since it had the Gigglepies.

In hindsight, Unwish Island really sells how little the writers care about continuity. Sure, they like bringing back cool elements from previous episodes, but they never have regard for their context.
Cosmo: "Hey, it's the sphinx you wished away!"
Timmy: "But I DIDN'T wish it away!"
Cosmo: "Oh.... Well, it sure adds to the drama."
@@LeafRazorStorm yeah. plus they barely shown anti cosmo and anti wanda after foop. from what i can recall it was only 2 episodes after that episode
There was also princess Mandie, who’s marriage would've happened without Timmy there to help where she takes over as an Empress with an empire. So yeah without Timmy and his wishes the universe is now stuck with basically a female Frieza.
Wait, if all of Timmy's wishes were null and void when he lost his fairies, why is Crocker still insane? The reason why he lost Cosmo and Wanda was because Timmy went back to the past and accidentally made kid Crocker confess to the town that he had fairy godparents, forcing them to be seized and Crocker to be flashbanged by their amnesiac technology until he went crazy as a result. That wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Timmy's meddling.

There's a good saying that goes "All good things must come to an end." This episode is proof that you can only keep a show going for so long that you run out of ideas. It's not just this show, it's also Spongebob, Family Guy, Simpsons, the list goes on. These shows have gone on for decades now, and I think it's fair to say they've lost their mojo. However, the company's that own these respective shows care about money, and no matter how stale they get, as long as they're still profitable, they ain't going anywhere, and that really hurts a show.
Not all of em
I dont really need to say this but imma do it anyway; I still like the new episodes of spongebob and dont find them stale at all but that's just me
Spongebob is definitely making a comeback; it's never impossible to keep a show going, it just takes a lot of skill.
@@MrHatoi That's what I hear, but Modern Spongebob still lacks the charm of the first couple of seasons IMO. Not even seasons 9 and 10 made me appreciate the show again, even if Hillenburg returned. The show has become too over the top and loud, too much toilet humor, and the animation is hard to look at. But that's just me
@@SpeedMotionSamic I agree with that completely, but the important thing is that it's not as bad as it used to be around the years immediately following the first movie.

I can actually think of a way this can work:
Make Timmy wish the secret wish when he first gets his fairly god parents in a flashback, and have him slowly forget he made the wish. That way it wouldn’t undercut his character growth, and also provide a reason why he never unwished the secret wish, even after Channel Chasers
Honestly, that's a good idea.
That would fix a plothole like this. Also I'd have it be that he made the wish 8 years ago rather than 50 since this was in the 8th season
I remember seeing a few episodes of this show when I was a kid. I think my favorite exchange of dialogue is the following:
Dad: "My dreams were ruined years ago."
Timmy: "How many years ago?"
Dad: "How old are you?"
Timmy's resulting blank expression just says it all lol
That is kinda brutal
@@Karhall I guess I'm a sucker for that kind of humor at times :P

at this point, butch is like that one toxic boyfriend that keeps finding a way into L.S mark’s life that he wants to move on from.
Actually, the idea of Timmy secretly wishing that everybody stay the same age forever is kind of clever, if you think about it. Shows like these often have the Ash Ketchum effect, where despite how many episodes are made, nobody ever gets older. The wish serves as an in-universe explanation as well as self-aware humor. The rest of the special, though... Yeah, it seems like they just had that one good idea, and no story to build around it.
Edit: Oop. Mark basically says this later in the video. lol
It would've been better if they've done it before Chanel Chasers though, so that ending wouldn't have been retconned
Honestly this kind of subvertive would only work if it Is a Parody of a show and not The actual thing, because it basically destroys The character completely and ruins the canon of The show.
They should have had somebody else make the Secret Wish (perhaps an evil foil to Timmy) and have Timmy and the others persuade them to move on, even if it means Timmy loses his fairies,
It would have been clever if the show mocked something *else* for it so that it could be a meta joke. But making such an idea a plot development *within* the show kills the entire premise of the series and makes it no longer possible to relate to.
@@ciberkid22 Could it be before channel chasers in the canon?
02:23 on a side note I did like how each special gave spotlight to a different villain from the series. Crocker got Abra-Catastrophe and Power Hour, Vicky got Channel Chasers, the Pixies got School Out, and Norm got Fairy Idol.
In my opinion: FOP had about many opportunities to end the show on a good note:
1️⃣ Channel Channels
2️⃣ Jimmy Timmy Power Hour
3️⃣ Wishology
Abra Catastrophe is also a good note to end the show.
Meet the OddParents was also one, perhaps even the last possible option
The first one, that one obviously wasn’t meant to close off the series.
The second one, you mean the third and final film of the Jimmy Timmy saga?
The third one, absolutely!
Shame that he lost his Furry godparents.
XD
The thing that gets me about Timmy being selfish is that I totally get that he WOULD become selfish after years of having fairy wishes. Sure, a lot of his wishes turned out to be life lessons, but if he constantly wished for material things without consequence, that would get a kid his age spoiled. I could see him also thinking he comes to term with losing his fairies, but then panicking when the day actually comes and making a stupid wish out of pure fear. I always thought there was potential in an episode where a dark future exists where Timmy becomes the new Crocker, only even more unhinged and frightening. This special has some great concepts, but loses it in the execution, especially having Timmy befriend Crocker to save the day. Something I find MORE annoying that they walked back. Other than that, this would have been a decent series finale, rather than wasting the ONE good concept they had in the last season. You know, the evil version of the Care Bears.
Of course, the REAL death of Fairly Oddparents? When they hired Ray DeLaurentis (sp?) as a writer. You know. They guy that wrote BOTH Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island AND the Bubsy Cartoon pilot. Real talent there.
Probably his magnum opus. Seriously, I blame him for the direction the series took to repetitive storylines, continuity destruction, and overall quelling potential for stronger storytelling. I really don't want to hate on anyone who worked on a show because it's poor sportsmanship and then they'll always call you out on it if you get caught. But seriously, all the problems with Hartman's shows at that point was on him. And I actually LIKED Tuff Puppy.
I think instead they should've had Timmy make that wish because he knew that when Cosmo and Wanda had to go Poof would be left without a big brother, even if Timmy got more selfish later on I did like the relationship he had with poof and I could see him doing something like that
Concept wise, I do love the idea of Timmy somehow wishing that everyone froze the same age for years out of desperately clinging to his fairies. That's the thing I actually liked about the first live action telefilm. There is the major consequence that anything Timmy did that was actually altruistic will vanish. Anytime one of his wishes saved the world, that would have been undone. There's a lot of great concepts the show COULD have followed through on, but didn't.
@@mightyfilm is nobody in this comment section gonna talk about that one episode where they hyper-focused on piss? like, i remember cosmo had a reunion of sorts, and some fairy bullies were like "only WIMPS walk anywhere kik", so timmy was suffering the entire episode. i fucking hated that, and nobody seems to remember it.

I seriously thought for a second there that butch’s picture with his eyes blacked out was doctor mike...
So no ones mentioned it, so I will: the opening to Timmy’s Secret Wish is a really butchered parody of “Pinball Wizard” by The Who off the Tommy album/rock opera. Elton John initially lent his voice and piano skills to the rock opera version, with the Who recording a separate band-only version. This is that one. But instead of the Who, it’s the What The Fuck
Thank you!! I'm not a big fan of that song but as soon as i heard the clip, I instantly recognized what it was. Spongebob also had an episode that featured the song and it was.... almost as lackluster to be honest (It wasn't even a special, it was just a regular later season episode to my knowledge where Plankton befriends Squidward and encourages his clarinet while wearing ear plugs to schmooze his way to the secret formula)

LPJ 22 Incorrect. Butch left in February of 2018, months after FOP officially ended.
No, they didn't
Nah, if SpongeBob is anything to go by, Nick didn't need Hartman to continue the show. They finally put the show on the chopping block because the writing was on the wall that the show just wasn't popular anymore, and no amount of new gimmick characters were going to change that. If the show was popular enough, they would've continued with or without Hartman.
Maybe Hartman's departure from Nick played a factor into the decision to cancel the show but I think low ratings played a bigger part.

Oh god
I remember as a kid I loved the channel chasers special. Adult Timmy seemed badass to me I liked all the different styles and references to shows. And I liked that the ending showed Timmy would have his fairies essentially until he's 18 in college. So I always thought it'd be cool to see that growth, until that fateful last episode Timmy 17 minutes away from turning 18 and losing his fairies and his memories of them. And Timmy either journaling all he can remember all their adventures, Timmy saying how he loves them and how he wishes they could stay in his life somehow and that being his final wish a wish effect goes off. We'd have a montage of Timmy living his life until he gets to the point we see him in channel chasers as an adult. And we now see why Timmys kids have Cosmo and Wanda, even though they can't interact with him they're still in his life somehow. I remember as a kid watching that channel chasers ending made me realize oh shit it's not gonna be cartoons and toys and videogames the rest of my life oh damn I'm gonna become a adult someday... But I literally did what Timmy did I decided to make a mini time capsule for myself so future me could remember what once was. To me I think the series could've just ended after that... Although I did enjoy the future specials channel chasers just has a close spot in my heart.
why would his kids have fairies? that implies they have awful, traumatic lives
@@gothboiclique.mp3 well not necessarily by the ending of channel chasers it's implied Timmy is kinda like his own parents with the Robot baby sitter Vicky. And the end of the special does show Cosmo and Wanda as their fish saying like father like son. They could just kids that no one understands like Timmy was.
💕 this is really beautiful that sounds like a way better ending
You don't have to leave things from your childhood behind, that's just society's expectations. If anything, nowadays, people are more accepting of just liking what you like now and adults collect plushies too.

“I just can’t help but not get emotional in these GREAT DEALS OVER AT CROWDMADE”
Channel chasers is a better ending for the show than what we got
WE GOT NOTHING!
What the shows ending should've been: An ending that teaches you an emotional message. We see Timmy move on, maybe donate his fairies to Tootie, and his parents actually spend more time with him.
The shows actual ending: Timmy and Chloe's parents hate each other for some reason, so they can't be friends.
7:04 aaaand there's vore in this, too
it just became worse
Alternative title, "if I say the name Butch Hartman the video ends"
I'm still butthurt to this day seeing the tragedy fop became
Maybe instead of Cloey, they could have made that girl who has a crush on Timmy be her surrogate?
Maybe advance their relationship and codependency by sharing this secret.
Tootie?

Hey at least there was never a special with Sparky or Chloe 💁♂️
A Chloe Carmichael special would've actually been interesting, given a good writing team

I wonder how many people are taking your comment seriously lol
They really should have ended the show after Wishology.
I wish.
Some people even say they should've ended it after channel chasers. I think wishology was at least decently good too though
for me, the episode that killed FoP was the special where Poof is introduced. From that point on, the humor became increasingly crass and predictable, the characters' worst traits highlighted constantly, and the introduction of Poof felt like a desperate attempt to cling onto relevancy. He doesn't add much to the dynamic as he is a BABY.
No, its Chloe.

HOW DARE YOU LS MARK!!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE A GOOD WHOLESOME UA-camR WHO MADE VIDEOS CRITICISING BUTCH HARTMAN!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD MAKE DIFFERENT VIDEO!!!
(Someone's going to take that seriously)
But that says more about the people who support Butch than the people who would've taken this serious tbh

_Is_ Timmy's life at the end of Channel Chasers _actually better?_
Let's actually examine the evidence and break it down...
1; he's living in his parent's house...Meaning that he never actually accomplished anything for himself and had to inherit a place to live from his parents when they either retired or _died._
2; He's working a job that undoubtedly makes him miserable - just like his parents. (When you're in the middle class, this fact is indisputable.)
3; judging by the appearance of his son and daughter, they bear significant similarities in design with Tootie, meaning that she is most likely their _mother._ Meaning that Timmy couldn't get anywhere in his love-life and had to literally settle for his _stalker._
4; - and this one is _really bad._ Timmy made a vow to not make the same mistakes his parents made...and yet the movie ends on a joke about him _literally_ making the exact same mistakes his parents made. Not only is he leaving them with a baby-sitter...but a _robot babysitter_ who is modeled after the girl who made his childhood miserable. That basically means that Timmy is literally paying Vicky to do the _same thing_ to his children that she did to him...How does losing his memory of Cosmo and Wanda result in him losing his memory of _Vicky?_ I can understand him needing to leave his kids with a sitter - but he should in no ways ever resort to letting anything Vicky-Related anywhere near them. (Barring their _mother_ of course.)
And here comes the saddest part of all of this...It's far more than just moving on from his childhood...the fact that he's not allowed to _remember it_ frankly comes off as disturbing and cruel. It's one thing to not have Cosmo and Wanda as his godparents anymore...but he's not even allowed to remember them and all evidence he had of them has been altered or erased. Think about how messed-up that is.
Regardless of the wishes or not, Cosmo and Wanda are probably the two people who are _most important_ to Timmy - they were there for him when his parents had done all but straight-abandon him. They were a huge part of not just his childhood, but his life; he got to go on adventures. And he actually got to experience people caring about him unconditionally...They weren't just his friends; they were his family.
And he can't remember them. He's never allowed to see them again. He can't even keep a _picture_ of them. And you know that psychologically, there is something wrong with Timmy at the end - he recognizes that there is a hole in his memory that he can't quite fill when he looks at the picture and sees the altered gold-fish in-place of Cosmo and Wanda. He knows something is wrong, but he can't place what. It's like how Crocker retains _some fleeting glimpses_ of his time with Cosmo and Wanda, leading to his obsession with finding them again.
Now here's the part that really stings. Cosmo and Wanda are now _his kids'_ Fairy Godparents. And they don't seem to care at all. Granted, I get that they have probably done this song and dance for 10,000 years, but they always talked-up about how much Timmy meant to them, that you can't help but get a sense that he wasn't "just another godkid" to them - he was the one that actually _got to them._
And worse, they're watching him make all the same mistakes that his parents made and are just _shrugging them off._
Now, you could make the argument that it has been _years_ since their tenure with Timmy; they have most-likely gotten over it by now...But that doesn't change the fact that _they remember him._
All of the memories that he was forced to give up, _they still retain;_ all the adventures, the pitfalls, the perils, the laughs, the cries, the ups, the downs, and all of the fun. How can they possibly look at Timmy from their fishbowl and not feel the _slightest tinge_ of depression at knowing that he doesn't remember them, and he never will?
...Let's face it; Fairly Odd Parents was a tragedy in the making, and that's probably why Nickelodeon never wanted it to end. Because the only way that it _could end_ was by addressing the huge elephant in the room, that Timmy was going to have his loving godparents ripped away from him.
Even A new wish has them give more respect to him. Cosmo even calls out Vicky about her treatment of Timmy in it.
I remember getting into an actual argument as a kid when this came out. I loved Wishology and rewatched it religiously. I dove for the TV when they came on. I even liked Sparky too. But this episode was blasphemy to my 11 year old brain.
Now, my point still stands but im a lot less aggressive about it.
i mean the ending of channel chasers is more bittersweet than happy imo, cause you shouldnt have to leave behind everything from childhood to be happy, i mean come on were all adults here who love cartoons and it makes us better that we do, but hes also neglectful to his kids the same way his parents were, even leaving them with a robot that literally looks just like his own abusive babysitter. but the thing is... thats weirdly fitting for fairly oddparents. its not a show about real happiness and happy endings, it was a show about a kid who was miserable and trying to magic his way out of misery because he didnt have many options aside from it.
plus hey, his kids got to have his fairy godparents, which means cosmo and wanda could still watch him even if they couldnt talk to him anymore. they probably got to have a good final conversation in that reality where he did normally grow out of having them and everything. its also bittersweet that they, immortal beings basically, have to watch him make those same mistakes, but they seem amused by it so i guess its not as miserable as it seems.
this show was one of my favorites as a kid. and it, like spongebob, shouldve ended after what was an amazing movie, but it just kept getting milked by a company that clearly cant just let good things die when its time. they couldnt even give all the characters that made the show what it was proper sendoffs, they just let them fade into the background (if that) as they tried to force new characters in, or flanderized them so hard it stopped being funny the moment it began. seriously, cosmos voice alone defines flanderization, yeesh.
10:46 no one can beat Vee Infuso's The Day ________ Died series
I think the Secret Wish has a huge plot hole, from what I hear from Mr. Enter.
Remember, ever since a kid made a dangerous wish, every wish is documented. But how can Timmy's Secret Wish slip by that radar? And how can Cosmo, who made the wish, bring that up?
Plus, the story says every wish must be recorded to avoid trouble, but Da Rules exist to do the same thing. Which makes you question how far the writers actually think.
These are things that need more time to explain and develop.
Also they forgot about the Hall Of Infamy in this episode too
@@myaedelman Oh yes. True.
Like, FOP has a degree of continuity. They shouldn't be this forgetful.

I think they could've just made Season 7 the final season, skip the whole 8th season except for Meet the OddParents, and it would've been a cool finale, as well as skipping the live action movies.

The question DC
I remember the style of humor changed right when Poof was introduced. Suddenly Timmy and other characters would flip out and do weird expressions and reactions the way only Crocker did in the past. The characters also seemed dumber and meaner. I don't think Poof himself was the problem, but the creation of his character was a symptom of the problem. I'd say the show was "ruined" long before this episode came out
The show began to decline in quality shortly after season 7 started when Ray DeLaurentis became the head writer and co-executive producer. Butch and the writers decided to ignore most of it's side characters and to focus more on Timmy's parents and Crocker.
Ayyy, Vee Infuso’s name is really getting out there now!
Even I thot it was boring when I was a kid and quickly forgot about it
