It’s kinda embarrassing how Ned’s Declassified, a show that came out almost 20 years ago, integrated Cosmo and Wanda better into live-action than this trainwreck.
I just imagine that the reason Cosmo and Wanda keep being so absent from this show is because they go and hang around with Timmy all the time, away from this show, and just come back for a few quick wishes every once in a while. It eases the pain.
@@PercydeRoloFangirl With Cosmo and Wanda apparently just granting wishes with none of the life-lesson stuff attached to it anymore, I'd totally buy that. But yeah, unless Timmy somehow was absolutely amazing in his high school years and had spotless grades and somehow got scholarships...it's hard to believe that he would have gotten into Princeton at all otherwise. Maybe he got another Rule-free wish muffin and used it to give himself the good life.
I believe that they actually fully finished making the very first episode of the show before they talked about it publicly wanting to do the idea in the the first place with them fully explaining what the very first episode of the show was. Butch Hartman also said in a public interview sometime in the early 2000's that he always interested in eventually making a live version of the show. He might be also very persistent and follows through with what he is talking about doing it as soon as possible as well.
Butch Hartman also said that he already switched his focus from making the fairly odd parents to fully making Danny Phantom, with him also admitting that he already had the idea already planned out in his head at exactly how many episodes of both of the shows that he would be making a whole as well. I DO NOT HAVE THE INTERVIEW TO SHARE WITH YOU!!!! It was definitely honest and phrased in a way that probably anyone can understand what he is talking about. He was actually in the middle of drafting a Danny Phantom episode before he got interviewed as well.
When i was 10 i wrote a fanfic about adults getting anti fairies instead of fairies and having to deal with their bullshit everyday I genuinely think that this is better than the Odder thingy
I feel like this happened cause one day Butch Hartman stumbled across Out Of Jimmy’s Head and started watching it and thought “This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen why hasn’t anybody done something like this recently I wanna make a show like that but how?” Then he got an idea… a truly awful idea. 😈
I feel like Croker getting caught off-screen is both hilarious and realistic, like, you expect him to be a genuine threat but let's be real here, he's a 50-year-old man with no special abilities that would prevent his capture.
fair enough, but still, there's a lot of lost potential for actual plotlines there that are just wasted all because of that gag. Not that really this reboot's storylines are exactly "Riveting" but still.

It's depressing how The Fairly OddParents had its saddest legacy of Nickelodeon history, as if deep down the executives seems to not even care about the original series and just tried to cash in using the IP only for money, without understanding what made the original so good
@@woobgamer5210 exactly x.x the original creator didn't even want any spin offs to Spongebob being made, but look what those greedy toads at nick did after he died?😢made them anyway. Sick as hell🤮

The show was so bad that when you played clips from it I genuinely almost willingly clicked off the video because I immediately understood your point and didn’t want to suffer through this show anymore.
In my opinion, one of the only recent times that Nickelodeon has done well “rebooting” older IPs is with Enter the Florpus in 2019. While the movie isn’t as good as Invader Zim was in 2001, they did a fantastic job with the character redesigns and it was an enjoyable film. Although to be fair, IZ was never beaten to death.
It was good but it was the original creator and artist brought back to do one last hurray, to send off the series for the love of the fans. While this is just a shameless cashgrab done by exectutives becuse known IP = money. Not fair to compare the two.
I feel like they should have committed to actually making this a REBOOT. -Have completely new characters totally unrelated to Timmy -New Godparents -New rules that manage the scope and budget of the show, or make the magic more like genies where you don’t really get what you asked for (like if she wished to be taller they literally just put her on a ladder instead of pretending they actually made her taller) -Commit to being live action OR animated, but not both (it looks bad and they clearly don’t have the budget for it) If they divorced it more from the source material it’d give them room to try new things and also help avoid comparisons and having to keep up with the established canon (not that they were still doing that in the show but I digress) What’s the point in a reboot that’s basically the same thing but slightly to the left and also worse. If Disney can’t get it right neither can you.
Well fairly odd parents has many jokes like this that aged horribly because they made fun of stuff like functionality and adding character's to boost ratings and they do exactly what they say is stupid
The animation looks really stiff and lifeless, really doesn’t translate well into the live action world either! Really wish Nick didn’t try to tamper with a perfectly good franchise for a cheap cashgrab…
What this screams to me is board executives too far removed from what kids would find entertaining, so they turn to anything that’s trending. Kinda like the Elsa gate thing that happened? (Except of course not weirdly sexual/fetishized) It just feels like they have no idea how to appeal to a younger audience and instead of bringing someone in who knows what they’re talking about, they do 5 minutes of research on Instagram and TikTok and call it a day
Thats what a lot of studios do whenever they try to reboot things these days. This show cant even come up with any actual plotlines. They just randomly throw up billie ellish, and olivia rodrigo because... trendy. They think thats what the kids will recognize without having to actually write anything. The characters just either have dumb catchphrases (stuff the original didnt have) or they're just dancing, because.. the kids. The golden era of Nickcoms were good when they used to be about trying to satrize school life for kids, (Ned's declassified, unfabulous, etc). Now its just lazy "kids like this, kids like that, reference."
Feels like nobody wanted to work on this. That this "show" was just a glimmer in some greedy executive's eye and now people are forced to put out this shit.
What’s important to remember is that it’s not the actors faults. They’re doing their bests with what they’ve been given by the show producers and creators/writers.
I haven’t watched the show but it seems nobody ever thinks actors could be responsible for issues. Even in good shows if there are sometimes weaker scenes they can’t be the actors responsibility partially. I am not saying the actors deserve hate, but based on these clips the actors do seem to overact or not know what would be a right tone comedically.
The “you got some ‘splaining to do” line is actually a reference to I Love Lucy. I wouldn’t be surprised if the person who put that reference in the reboot didn’t even know about the one in the original.
One of the biggest rules broken from the original that I haven’t seen many people talk about is that “If the godchild grows too old (usually around teenage years), the fairies are given new godkids.” So why does Timmy have fairies when he’s what appears to be 30?
after channel chasers they just p much just kept fucking with that, timmy's secret wish, all the live-action movies, fairly oddpet and now this. they just ignore the fact that only kids are supposed have godparents
They actually explain this in the first Drake Bell movie. For his services to Fairy World, they let him keep Cosmo and Wanda as long as he uses his fairies to help people.
I like how you mention that Wanda always calls Timmy sport, especially because there was an episode where she tells him why. She keeps calling him sport because fairy’s have really short memories or something, I don’t remember exactly why but I think that’s the reason
When I heard they were rebooting the series, I imagined the show would be a bit mature with a new Timmy as a kid again and being a bullied victim. The fairies is what makes the show overall a comedy. I would imagine the fairies as real actors. (I know the awful movies sorta did this but they would cast better actors and their designs match their look of the show. Kinda like those fan drawings you see where they look real.) But the kids would feel like real kids dealing with real things in life but still is overall a funny show. And the fairies would be supportive but cool parent figures for Timmy as LS Mark mentioned. Also, many of the wild things from the cartoon would unfortunately have to be pushed back because the movies showed that not everything works in live action, Especially Butch Hartman's art style. (Also this a TV show.) So you have to think of a different aesthetic or style with practical effects and sets. Tonally, it's like Even Steven or Unfabulous meets Beetlejuice. ...instead we got 12:41
"It's like Even Steven meets Beetlejuice" Once again, it's interesting how normal people have more interesting ideas for an I.P. than Hollywood these days.

I’m not gonna lie the 2d Art pissed me off the most. I hate the little differences that ruin cosmo and Wanda’s designs like their eyes not even being the same shape or how rounded the line art is
Their "hip and trendy" dialogue is the most cringe worthy part of the show. Its more insufferable than life is Strange. (E;R made a point of this in his review on it. Its also funny, I recommend you watch it) Its a bold claim, but Fairly Utter has the worst dialogue I've seen in fiction. Period.
From watching some of Nickelodeon's sitcoms from the 2010s, this show is exactly like one of them. It's got the overuse of memes, characters constantly yelling, stilted dialog, and the unfinished sets.
And is the child acting weird to anyone else? The older shows weren't Oscar winners in acting either, but I feel like something changed in things like line delivery.
The original show had a lot of creative freedom because animation allows you to express ideas that would otherwise be impossible. Yet a bunch of idiots decided to go live action for the FOURTH TIME. This reboot plus the Drake Bell movies became fundamentally broken from the very moment they were conceived.
Its still amazing to me how damn well Ned's declassified did the "live-action Cartoon" way better than anything I've still seen today. No laugh track, Tons of great and funny characters and good writing. I know its not animated but you should do a video on that series. Its the only thing I can confidently call a Live-action cartoon...cause it basically is just one, a damn good one at that.
Tfw Cosmo & Wanda in the Daydreaming episode of Ned's Declassified did more for the plot than the entirety of this show. I'm not even mad, I knew this was going to be a dumpster fire from the moment I saw it. :/
When i heard a reboot was coming me and a friend thought it was going to be Poof. That Poof could just be the new fairy as a late teen interested in the business since he knew of miserable kids since one of them was practically his uncle. Regardless of how skilled he was, adding earnest to helping the kid he's with. Then even calling his parents as everyone's first kid isn't always easy. It can be as garbage as it wants, a new fairy on thier first kid.
Oh, Poof is so cute! And I don't stop repeating it - how annoying, that this character - lovely and loving son and godbrother, is absent in last season of animated serial and in this sitcom. After his borning, he became an important part of Cosma' family.
What would've worked is that if Viv's step-mom was just pure evil and cared more about her brother way more than her, have the brother not know about the Faires and haver Viv get bullied hard at school, that way her having faires makes more sense.
@@spongemaster I feel like Fairly Odd Parents still has so much potential. Imagine a version with more character development and longer spanning story arcs
Bless you for mentioning the “Yeet Yeet Mother-Daughters” line. It’s like they wanna be “edgy” but realize they’re making a Nickelodeon sitcom so they can only do so much.
I’m sure there was one person on the staff who actually cared about the original series and was like: “come on guys. You have to at least pretend you know about the original series…… F***k it, I’ll do the references myself.”
You know you've screwed up when the animation quality of the last few episodes of Season 10 of Fairly OddParents released in 2017 is better than the quality of a live-action remake of the show released in 2022. 10:27 They couldn't even lip-sync Cosmo's lips correctly in this scene! How did this show even get greenlit?! 12:39 And now they're saying "yeet." No matter how bad the jokes got in the original, they never descended into this type of humor.
Never before had I've seen a series where literally EVERYTHING was wrong! The special effects, the comedy, the writing, and shockingly the editing was just completely flawed in every aspect!
You see this could've been your generic sitcom about kids with access to magic. Think "Bewitched" but in the modern area. Hell they already have the setup. "Man marries his successful high school sweetheart who has a popular son." Just have the source of their good fortune be the result of some magical entity/power. That could explain how they suddenly met up and how they married so quickly. There's your show! But no. We couldn't do that. Because that doesn't have the almighty BRAND RECOGNITION that studio heads swoon over...
I have a few ideas that I think could have helped the show: 1) switch the parents. You can keep the parent abruptly moving to dimmsdale on a whim but with the mom’s personality, it might make more sense. Plus, it can actually subvert the whole “step-parents are evil” trope if the father genuinely wants to connect with his step-daughter. This next idea would far more significant so just bear with me. 2) Have Vivian be the Mr Crocker of the show. She moves to the town and experiences how weird it is but she doesn’t get Fairy Godparents, some other kid in town has them, hell they don’t even have to be Cosmo and Wanda. She starts noticing strange things (the results of wishes) that nobody seems to question and eventually learns of the existence of fairies. The show is basically a mystery, sorta like a smaller-scale gravity falls with Vivian trying to find out why the town is so weird and eventually trying to prove the existence of fairies. You can even work in more lore for the fairy world such as how they deal with literally giving children the power of a god. Not saying it has to be super adult, but more mature than the original. After all, if it’s more of a continuation, it should be made with the original fans in mind.
Why does Timmy (who’s an adult) still have fairies? Wasn’t the whole thing from “channel Chasers” is that when he grows up, he’ll forget them. He even aged up himself with the remote and completely forgot about them 🤷♀️
All I needed was to hear Cosmo and Wandas voices in a commercial to know how bad this was gonna be. I miss Cosmos FoP season 1 voice. I’m really sad to see his helium addiction has only gotten worse 😔
Fun fact: In the episode where they went back in time, the South Park refrence wouldn't work, because they went back to 1996, and South Park wouldn't come out until a year later.
LS Mark: "Barnacles, what could be worse than a terrible live-action Fairly OddParents project that takes place in the future?!" Butch Hartman: "Oh, I know!" **makes this show** Butch Hartman: "TWO terrible live-action Fairly OddParents projects that take place in the future!!"
11:05 that's the most frustrating part. The show is going to be insufferable on all sides because writers don't know how to create shows that could balance demographics. Every reference feels like it was done because they forgot to cater to the "Nostalgic Watchers"
It seems like Nickelodeon is just completely incapable of understanding the idea of "original content," and is only able to reboot their old stuff in the worst way possible, and is shocked whenever that fails. Edit: In addition, all of their live action stuff looks the same, like all their characters live in the super elaborate houses with fancy furniture. While it would be cool in real life to see it, it makes all their shows blend together. I would've thought the clips were from Victorious or Icarly if no one told me otherwise.
In the Drake Bell movies (at least in the first movie which was the only I watched) there's a scene showing live action versions of Cosmo and Wanda but only lasts a few minutes before they turn back into CGI fairies
The animation just looks so... puppety? It looks like the frames in between are AI interpolated, it's so robotic and unnatural and if it's gonna be any part of the show it should have been better than that. Also live action and Fairly OddParents seems almost contradictory as the original series was SO animated, cartoon physics and impossible scenarios were the entire point so making a whole show with a low budget to try and do that is so strange to me.
What is with these settings, I'm always baffled the way they portray people's homes in these sitcoms as over the top furnished with a lot of cushions everywhere 6:19 look at this room!
Mark and I also noticed that the animation got worse as the episodes went by. Which is odd, because usually animations get better, because the animators get a better sense of the rigs and style.
Update: Paramount+ has completely scrubbed the show off its platform I’ve never seen a reboot fail so hard that the studio behind it goes out of their way to erase it from existence
Just seeing and listening to these few scenes caused what feels like so much brain damage. I still can’t believe they found people who were somehow convinced this was a good final product to go through with showing.
I think if they pulled Scott Fellows in on this project, the cartoony live-action feel would've been handled better. He created Big Time Rush (and Johnny Test), and I think it's a good example of a cartoony live action show.
After watching 13 Episodes of this Monstrosity and Abomination it left me Speechless, Empty,Bored,Frustrated,Disgusted,Ashamed,Destroyed,Humiliated, and most importantly Miserable, while the Actors tried their Best it wasn't even,as someone that watched Supergirl,Batwoman, and Naomi as well as Great Series becoming Worse this is one of the Worst Things I've ever seen in my entire Life the Characters are Annoying and Unlikable, the Main Characters are a Timmy and Chloe Ripoff that I would rather watch, the Parents are Bizarre than Timmy's Parents while One of them is a Dog and the Other has a Thing for Statues, that Stalking Creep makes Tootie look like a Saint,It Retconned the Rules and Events of the Franchise, and Vicky not only did they make Her in Love with Denzel Crookee and is disgusting as Hell and Changed that they know each other but ruins why She's the most Dangerous and Evil Character in the Series,I would rather watch the Fred Trilogy,Fred the Show, and Marvin Marvin than this Hell I would go a Watch Season 9 and 10 with the Live Action Trilogy and I always have a Soft Spot for them, now if you Excuse Me I'm going to Watch Sonic 2,Croods 2,Croods Series,ICarly Revival Season 2,and Big Time Rush Series and Songs, because I'm still Questioning why Paramount and Nickelodeon didn't do a Final Cartoon Series one last time.
Here, I have an idea for an actually kind of interesting reboot that would fit in with nick’s current very young-targeted writing style: Make Poof the main character. Imagine, poof isn’t a baby anymore and is now around 10-14. He’s in training to become a REAL fairy godparent. Most fairy godparents in training go to jorgen’s super intense fairy boot camp, but Timmy wishes/convinced him that poof will get better training with Timmy’s cousins. And instead of poof being animated, he has a live action “human disguise” that he uses to blend in. He’d go to school with Timmy’s cousins and the plots would be focused on a combination of poof trying to fit in with humans and the kids all making wishes.
The reboot of "The Rugrats" isn't actually all that bad... even the 3D models mostly look okay (though odd how the PS1 game models were actually closer to the original style)! So I guess at least one old Nick series can have a modern reboot and not totally suck. (And from a different studio, the rebooted Animaniacs seasons have been quite alright too. Apparently, a reboot of "Tiny Toon Adventures" is next.)
I think the reason why the animation in the Rugrats reboot is slightly bad is because Klasky-Csupo Inc.’s art style doesn’t translate well into 3D. It kinda reminds me of the 3D animation from the Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror XXXI.
The rugrats reboot is only okay in the sense that you don’t know anything about the original, and can ignore the big changes they made, like Susie and Phil and Lil’s mom
I know, right? I didn't watch the later seasons, but I remember seeing a clip where his dad just blatantly implied that Timmy being born shattered his hopes and dreams only by asking how old he was. When I was a kid, stuff like that was funny. As I got older, I started realizing just how messed up Timmy's life was, and by extension almost the entire town in general.
You know, it’d be more fun to have an anthology series showing different characters with godparents. Maybe with episodes that feature Cosmo and Wanda and one of the kids before Timmy. Also I could list characters that could need Fairy Oddparents. Jeri Katou Kenny McCornmick Bart Simpson Milhouse Butters Morty Smith
Even though it wouldn’t had made it better, I would rather have the CGI version of the fairy’s rather then The original cartoon (or whatever they doing). Like the fairy’s look decent but every other animation (like jorging) breaks so many rules. Like why are the face face center?
I feel like the show had some potential if it was fully animated as the writing doesn’t mesh well with live-action well and maybe focused on Vivian more like developed her character but I guess I too did not know what to expect from this show.
@@hexnight true but it’d be better then this abomination of CGI and Live Action. But then again, good animation takes effort and time, something Nick doesn’t care about
I wanna say that “there’s no way a second season is in production!” And I’m pretty sure it isn’t, but there’s a timeline where it gets another season and it will somehow look worse. Also are we just going to ignore the implications of Vicky falling in love with Crocker. That’s like a 30 year old difference and that’s really concerns me.
It could be kinda funny if the vickyxcrocker thing was treated as "this women starts idolizing this random guy she never met before", especially if they shown crocker begin weirded by her or something. But becuse they show them begin in a relationship it feels so fucked up, like the writers didint realize that vicky was supposed to be a teenager?

-Commit to being live action OR animated, but not both (it looks bad and they clearly don’t have the budget for it)
If they divorced it more from the source material it’d give them room to try new things and also help avoid comparisons and having to keep up with the established canon (not that they were still doing that in the show but I digress)

What this screams to me is board executives too far removed from what kids would find entertaining, so they turn to anything that’s trending. Kinda like the Elsa gate thing that happened? (Except of course not weirdly sexual/fetishized)
It just feels like they have no idea how to appeal to a younger audience and instead of bringing someone in who knows what they’re talking about, they do 5 minutes of research on Instagram and TikTok and call it a day
Thats what a lot of studios do whenever they try to reboot things these days. One of the biggest rules broken from the original that I haven’t seen many people talk about is that “If the godchild grows too old (usually around teenage years), the fairies are given new godkids.” So why does Timmy have fairies when he’s what appears to be 30?
because they decided to screw the rules in order to keep the show alive
They had to break the rules for Timmy.
after channel chasers they just p much just kept fucking with that, timmy's secret wish, all the live-action movies, fairly oddpet and now this. they just ignore the fact that only kids are supposed have godparents
They actually explain this in the first Drake Bell movie. For his services to Fairy World, they let him keep Cosmo and Wanda as long as he uses his fairies to help people.
@@seanpazdera6407 can you show me a clip that’s proof

I have a few ideas that I think could have helped the show:
1) switch the parents.

I do like the idea of Fairy World being a cartoon world and the Earth being real life. However, they should have made Cosmo and Wanda live action too.
In the Drake Bell movies (at least in the first movie which was the only I watched) there's a scene showing live action versions of Cosmo and Wanda but only lasts a few minutes before they turn back into CGI fairies
Fairly odder feels like a fan project, and would be better if it was reimagined as a fan project

I think if they pulled Scott Fellows in on this project, the cartoony live-action feel would've been handled better. He created Big Time Rush (and Johnny Test), and I think it's a good example of a cartoony live action show.
The plot would still be horrid, though.

@Crimson Outdoors Co. I haven't watch that yet but I will rather watch that than this Garbage and trust me I had no Choice.
Please, please, please, learn to use a full stop. Just one period. I beg of you. My eyes.
Here, I have an idea for an actually kind of interesting reboot that would fit in with nick’s current very young-targeted writing style:
Make Poof the main character.
Because it’s made by people who actually care. Also this show was in production at the same time as Invaider zim florpus movie.
That's the problem. These reboots only lower the bar so the previously lowered bar seems reasonable to something else that comes out.
I think the reason why the animation in the Rugrats reboot is slightly bad is because Klasky-Csupo Inc.’s art style doesn’t translate well into 3D. It kinda reminds me of the 3D animation from the Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror XXXI.
@@vanderquakSP Sad because they did Simpsons CG is a way earlier Treehouse of Horror.
The rugrats reboot is only okay in the sense that you don’t know anything about the original, and can ignore the big changes they made, like Susie and Phil and Lil’s mom
You reading off the stuff that makes Timmy miserable makes me REALLY feel bad for him more than ever
16:45 They look like when an adult cartoon like The Simpsons try to make the characters look "higher-budget" or something by giving them a shadow.
You know, it’d be more fun to have an anthology series showing different characters with godparents. Maybe with episodes that feature Cosmo and Wanda and one of the kids before Timmy.
Also I could list characters that could need Fairy Oddparents.

What about Tootie?
Even though it wouldn’t had made it better, I would rather have the CGI version of the fairy’s rather then The original cartoon (or whatever they doing). Like the fairy’s look decent but every other animation (like jorging) breaks so many rules. Like why are the face face center?
9:54 hearing cosmo in this clip was just immediate whiplash after hearing him in the clips prior
I feel like the show had some potential if it was fully animated as the writing doesn’t mesh well with live-action well and maybe focused on Vivian more like developed her character but I guess I too did not know what to expect from this show.
if it was fully animated it would still suck because we would still have to deal with the terrible writing.

It most likely was ordered at the same time as the first season. Also so far I’d it doubt so so
